Early Lucky DVD #1  The Arrival Oct 29, 1993 - May 25, 1994: 8 hour original edit

DVD #1A The scene opens in diner in Canada on Halloween, Luke and Lucky scare Laura with their costumes. Lucky rides off on his bike, famous L&L dance in the diner scene. A friend of Luke's starts up Luke's truck and it blows up. L&L realize Frank Smith's men have once again caught up with them and its time to run. Laura is terrified for Lucky's safety. Luke convinces her Lucky is safer traveling to Port Charles alone than being with them and that Lucky knows what to do.

Lucky arrives home and hears the message in code to run on the answering machine. He calmly gets the money out of the freezer, his packed backpack out of the close and leaves. L&L watch in horror as their friend dies in the truck fire. On a flight to Chicago, Lucky beats the flight attendant at gin rummy and wins another sundae.

Lucky is continuing his journey, he leaves a letter for his parents under a fictious name at the car rental place in Chicago. The goons report back that the Spencer's made it out of Canada, they suspect they are headed to PC. Lucky takes a bus to PC, we see him travel through the streets of PC on foot. Finally he sees a sign "Kelly's Diner" 2 blocks ahead. (I love all the location shots, its great to see the town as they imagine how PC would look like).

L&L are relieved to find the message from Lucky waiting for them in Chicago that Lucky is safely on his way. Lucky walks into Kelly's and introduces himself to Ruby (he is sooo cute!). He tells Ruby all, that no one can know that he is in PC except for Bobbie. Lucky is being introduced to Jagger and two goons break through the doors of Kelly's. Jagger fights them off and Lucky is able to escape.

Bobbie is shocked to arrive and find the damage at Kelly's. Ruby tells her about Lucky being in PC and L&L are on their way. Lucky sleeps outside by the river, next am we see him walk by the river (another beautiful location shot). Later in the day, Lucky hides out in a movie theatre watching a scary movie, the little boy next to him jumps during a scary part, it is Sly Eckert who he later discovers is his cousin. They introduce themselves and decide to watch the movie again.

Lucky asks Sly if there are any good places to hide. Sly suspects he has run away from home, he shows him the catacombs. Sly brings Lucky some burgers from Ruby's and tells Lucky about his dad, Bill Eckert. Luke and Laura hit town in a pink cadillac, to the song of the same name. They are speeding thru town and are pulled over by a cop. Both are in disguise, Laura as a very pregnant woman and she pretends to be in full labor. The officer provides them with an escort to GH. Funny moment as Lucky sees them go by with the police escort. Aerial view as they drive through Port Charles.

Lucky asks Sly to get a note to Ruby for his parents. The goons spot Lucky, fire a shot in the air and give chase. Sly takes Lucky back to his house. Lucky is amazed by how much Bill Eckert looks like Luke. Sly tells Bill about Lucky's trouble. Bill insists on contacting the police. Lucky begs him not to, and Sly is furious that his father is letting him down. Lucky and Sly head to the catacombs, aerial view of them entering the catacombs, behind the waterfall.

Several scenes of Lucky and Sly running through the catacombs chased by the bad guys. Bill Eckert goes to the catacombs and comes upon the goons just as they find the kids. When the goon goes to shoot, Bill jumps in front of the kids and gets shot in the back. Bad guys leave thinking they shot Luke. Luke arrives just as Bill is dying. Luke and Laura take Sly back to their house.

The Spencers are at Bobbie's for Thanksgiving. Scotty arrives and when Lucky comes downstairs, Scotty realizes that Lucky is Laura's son. Scotty slugs Luke. They have to hold off Lucky from attacking Scotty. Back at the homestead, Luke wants his family to stay with Bobbie as he believes they will be safer there, more visible, with witnesses around. Laura is heart broken to leave her house. Lucky insists on taking his pet spider to Bobbie's.

At the brownstone, Bobby screams when she sees Lucky's pet spider. (ever wonder where Lucky got the nickname "Cowboy"? Check out the hat he is wearing in this scene. Looks like a hat meant for Luke to wear, somehow Lucky winds up wearing his father's hat and the nickname stuck, sounds like a Tony Geary ad lib. It's also so nice to see little BJ, she was such a cutie!)

When Lucky plays with BJ and Lucas, Lucas falls and this leads to another parenting lecture from Bobbie to L&L. Luke doesn't appreciate her words of wisdom. After Bobbie leaves, Laura tells Luke that it just won't work for them to live there. Sonny and Luke meet for the first time, Luke almost throws him down the stairs and tells him to never come to the house (pretty funny to see Luke's animosity considering their later friendship).

The next morning, Laura makes a big breakfast. Bobbie comes down very up tight. Now she's the diet police, she's condesending and tells Laura that Lucas is a diabetic and they have to be very careful with his diet. When BJ asks if they can have eggs and bacon every am, Bobbie makes a remark that they don't due to cholesterol. Laura looks like she wants to sink into the floor. Lucky hides the spider in the box after bobbie tells him to take it outside - she was less than thrilled to find it in her house! Lucky takes the spider up to his room (must be some spider as after Lucky walks out of the room we see the spider move the lid).

Morning of Bobbie's high tea for laura and the ladies of PC, the spider is missing. L&L look for the spider without letting onto Bobbie that it is loose in the house. One morning, Lucky is eating his cereal under the kitchen table, Bobbie has a fit when Lucas wants to eat his breakfast under the table. She tries to make Lucky come out, he refuses saying his mom lets him.

Laura comes in and doesn't see anything wrong with it and objects to Bobbie disciplining Lucky. Bobbie sees this as total parental irresponsibility, they go at it, Luke comes in and supports Laura. L&L are still looking for the spider, finally find him and he is placed in the box. When Bobbie asks Lucky what is in the box, he shows her. She screams when she sees it.

Laura and Lucky talk about the birds and the bees, she's shocked to hear that Luke has already had this discussion with Lucky. Robin and Lucky with Laura at the old house going through Webber stuff in the attic, Laura continues to tell Lucky about his grandmother Leslie. Laura wants to enroll Lucky in school, he tells her he wants to make sure they are going to stay in PC as it is hard on him to change schools.

Lucky and Felicia shadow box, she insists. He doesn't want to box with her as he is afraid he will hurt her. He tries some karate moves on her, and she impresses him with her skills. Then Kevin suddenly appears in the doorway, distracts her, and Lucky accidentally wallops her on the jaw.

L&L and Lucky at Kelly's, they talk with Jagger about the pink caddy. Laura tells Luke she has gotten a loan for the house for the amazing price of $35,000. He is less than thrilled. But Lucky and her talk Luke into it. They go to the house and talk measurements. L&L and Lucky talk about the new house. When Lucky takes pride in how much he is like his father, and expresses a desire to be just like him. Luke tells Lucky he wants him to aim higher, to have more out of life than to just want to be like his dad.

L&L and Lucky moving into new house. Laura shows Lucky a lava lamp she found in Bobbie's attic. It's Laura's birthday and they surprise her with a little cake and presents. Luke gives her a music box that plays the music that they heard the night at Wyndham's.

At L&L's new house, soot comes shooting out of the chimney and the roof has collapsed in their bedroom. Luke thinks the house is hopeless. Luke and Lucky play cowboys while they are supposed to be cleaning up after the roof disaster. Later, Lucky comes in and asks why they are fighting, Luke tries to explain their differences to him and tells him about a "work situation" that they are disagreeing over and promises Lucky that he is doing everything he can to get out of it. Luke tells them how much he loves them. Laura agrees to trust Luke but she is obviously very worried. Laura and Lucky bring in the Christmas tree, Laura wants to wait for Luke. Lucky admits to feeling safe, he has been prepared to run all of his life.

At GH, Sly, Lucky and Laura set up for the Christmas party. Sly is missing his dad, Luckyis worried that Luke won't be back for Christmas. Laura reassures him that Luke promised he would be back in time. Laura explains that Luke went to meet a boat and help someone get into the US. She won't tell him anymore as it would be dangerous. Sounds glamorous to Lucky, spies and boats and subterfuge. Dr. Hardy tells the Christmas story for the children at GH.

Back home, Lucky and Laura decorate the tree. Laura is upset to see that their Christmas angel has had the wings broken off. Have no fear, Lucky doesn't an instant repair. Luke arrives home, his family is estatic to see him. Luke places the angel on top of the tree. Good news, the phone and the heater is now working on the Spencer's new home. Lucky has a new house for Al the spider as well. Lucky proposes the garage as a location. Luke teases Laura by suggesting Al live in the house.

Later, Luke scares Laura when he seriously tells her he has to "go out". She is terrified he won't return and begs him not to go. Lucky overhears Luke saying he may not come back but if he does it will be all over. Laura screams at Luke not to do it, she fears he may be killed. Lucky follows Luke though neither Luke or Laura are aware of this. The meeting goes sour and shots are fired. Luke kills the bad guy but a stray bullet hits Lucky who is hiding behind a crate. Luke screams when he sees Lucky fall forward bleeding from the abdomen.

Across town, Laura immediately knows that Lucky is in danger. She runs through the house desperately searching for him. Luke runs into GH carrying Lucky. Tony and Dr. Hardy work on him, they tell Luke that surgery is required as the bullet is still in Lucky and lodged near his spine and there is a risk of paraylsis. Tony operates.

Laura goes to see Sonny and badgers him into telling her where Luke's meeting took place. Sonny takes her to the docks, Laura sees the crime scene, the police, the tape and is terrified when she hears that one man was killed and another shot. Garcia won't tell her who the victims are so she heads to GH.

DVD #1B When Laura sees Luke, she is so relieved that he is alive. But when he tells her Lucky has been shot and is in surgery she is furious with him over her "baby" being hurt. Bobbie comes out of surgery and tells them it is going well.  Tony tells him he got the bullet out but it was a difficult surgery but there is still a threat of paralysis. Laura sits by Lucky's side after surgery, he looks so little and vulnerable hooked up to the respirator. Tony tells L&L that Lucky is stable even though he hasn't regained consciousness.

Finally, Lucky starts to wake up. Tony gives him an exam and says Lucky will be fine, that there is muscle weakness in his legs but no paralysis. Talk turns to Lucky trying out for Little League. Amy gives him an autographed Mickey Mantle picture, Bobbie gives him spider books. Sly visits Lucky next. Luke and Laura talk with Lucky about the mistake he made in following Luke. Cute moments as L&L play blackjack with Lucky for chocolate. Then more heartbreak as Lucky tries to walk and can't and he collapses on the floor. Tony is still sure that it is only due to swelling around the surgery site.

Mac brings Lucky a present then fishes around with Luke for info on the shooting. Next, Felicia brings Lucky boxing gloves and also tries to find out if the Spencer's are still in danger from Frank Smith. Laura tells her to butt out. Laura takes Lucky to physical therapy, when she is returning Amy tells her there is a specialist waiting in Lucky's room. Laura is suspicious and then sees two goons coming out of Lucky's room. She wheels Lucky away while the goons give chase. She hides Lucky in the stairwell, locks the door, and hikes upstairs with Lucky on her back. She makes it to the elevator with the gunmen close behind, then the gunmen split up one jumping on top of the elevator and the other taking the stairs.

Stone has warned Luke and Sonny to "go to ground" that a war has erupted and they head to GH to protect Laura and Lucky. Sonny and Luke take out the goon in the stairway while the other goon is shooting at Laura and Lucky through the top of the elevator. They make it to the ground floor and AMy gets them into an ambulance which Laura takes off in with Lucky and sirens blaring. Amy tells Luke and patches them through to the ambulance, Luke tells her to lay low. Laura seeks refuge with Mary Mae who takes them in. Mary Mae gives Lucky a baby to hold and encourages him to continue to work hard on his recovery. Luke meets up with his family at Ward House.

After the crisis has passed, Lucky is back at GH for physical therapy and is finally able to take a step. Laura is estactic. Dr. Hardy then reams Laura for stealing an ambulance, bullets in the elevator, body in the basement, but it is obvious he cares for the Spencer's. They discuss Lucky's education. Next, outside GH, Lucky meets Foster who rests his head on Lucky's knee. Lucky wants to take him home but Laura says no. Then they stop by Kelly's and Jagger introduces them to Karen. Aunt Jenny stops by the house and invites Lucky to sleep over with Sly. The next day, Laura tells Luke that Lucky has been slacking off in therapy.

Back outside of GH, Lucky is thrilled to see Foster again, he calls him and Foster comes running but is hit by a car. In order to get to Foster, Lucky walks for the first time since the shooting to reach Foster's side. Laura runs into GH and asks for help. Dr. Hardy is a bit surprised to discover his patient is a dog. Lucky remains on his feet and by Foster's side the whole time. Laura and Lucky take him to a vet for surgery, while they wait Laura marvels at Lucky walking. Lucky stays with Foster after the surgery and promises that if Foster will be okay that Lucky will take care of him. Laura says they can keep him as long as Luke agrees. Lucky is thrilled and gives Foster a big hug! Back home, they decide on the name Foster. Luke returns late at night to be greeted by this huge growling dog. He has to ring the doorbell to get in his own home but is thrilled to see lucky walking. He agrees to give Foster a couple of days.

The next morning, Foster continues to growl at Luke and pees in his boot. Lucky tells Luke that Foster doesn't like him - Luke wants the dog gone. Lucky tells him he promised Foster a home, that they made a deal. He also tells Luke that Foster will realize that Luke is the "alpha dog" - the leader of their pack but for now it is a territorial dispute between Luke and Foster. Foster thinks he was there before Luke! Cute moment between Luke & Laura the morning of Felica and Mac's wedding. Sonny arrives and meets Lucky. He tells Luke that they need to go to Connecticut. Foster continues to growl at Luke, but greets Sonny warmly.

Laura and Lucky arrive at the wedding. During the ceremony, Ryan comes in and a fight breaks out. Laura ushers Lucky and Sly out of the building. Ryan has a bomb and just in the nick of time, Mac throws it to Paul who hurls it outside. Tense moment till Paul comes back in unhurt. Ryan isn't done though, he comes to and Mac chases him upstairs, they fall over the balcony and Mac has a concussion and can't get married. He offers the wedding to Paul and Jeeny who agree. Later they arrive at the reception and greet their friends and family. Great scene of all the GHers as Paul makes a wedding toast.

As Paul and Jenny plan their honeymoon (note: Jenny is Sly's aunt, Sly is Lucky's cousin and best friend). Laura invites Sly to stay with them. The boys are thrilled with the idea. Next, "Lucky Man" is played by ? on the sax, great song as the PCers dance, including Lucky and Laura, Robin & Stone, Karen & Jagger, Brenda & Jason. Luke blindfolds Laura and he and Lucky act like game show hosts to surprise her. He gives her a new dishwasher and a refrigerator. She answers the trivia questions on their history complete with flashbacks to the night before their wedding.

Luke comes home to find Foster sprawled all over the couch, Luke has to trick Foster with a dog bisket to get him off. Laura takes Sly and Lucky out into the woods, they come upon an old cabin. Lucky wants to know if Laura is looking for a place to hide in case of trouble, he doesn't believe her when she says no. At Ward House, Laura tells Mary Mae how emotional she has been lately and realizes she is pregnant. Then she tells Luke who is overjoyed. Lucky comes home and Laura tells him. Moving scene as Laura explains to Lucky why people in love, make love. Laura tells Mary Mae about meeting Luke, their trouble with Frank Smith, complete with early flashbacks. She also tells her about raising Lucky on the run.

Luke tells Lucky how proud he is of him and how much he loves him, almost like he is saying goodbye. (Luke is off to break Frank out of jail and doesn't know if he will return). Sean Donnelly comes by to tell Laura that frank escaped from Jail. Laura gets Lucky to distract Sean so she can go look for Luke. Next, L&L go out of town and Lucky and Sly stay with Ruby. Lucky is worried about his parents. Ruby and Lucky talk about the new baby. Back home, the boys bring in a book of baby names. Lucky is sure the baby will be a boy and wants to name him Joe. Laura turns on the radio and Luke and Lucky hip hop in a dance off.

Powerful scene as she tells Lucky about her great grandfather's escape from slavery. Two of Frank's goons try to break into the Spencer's house but they are greeted by a growling Foster. Laura is later kidnapped from Ward House. Luke takes Lucky to Ruby's to wait while he rescues Laura. Luke takes Foster to the docks and finds where Laura is being held. Foster jumps through a window, distracts the goons while Luke breaks in through the door.

Meanwhile, Lucky is worrying again about his parents. He asks Ruby if anything happened to them if he could live with Ruby and of course she says yes! Ruby is curious if Lucky is jealous over the attention his parents will give the baby. He says no way, he is so excited. Lucky is very relieved when L&L show up safe and sound.

Back home, Laura shows Luke the tape of her sonogram. It is Lulu's first appearence! She tells Luke the baby is a girl! BJ's birthday party, cute moment with Tony and BJ slow dancing together.
