Luke & Robert 1982 #14 - Aftermath of Laura's disappearance, Luke finally accepts her death, Blackie Parrish, Laura Templeton found, David Grey Storyline - 12 hrs NOW ON THREE DVDS Luke is with Rick and Leslie down at the waterfront, he sees one of the kids with Laura's purse. The kid said he found it just lying there. Leslie takes it to Rick, who suggests they talk to Blackie Parrish (He is a local street gang leader played by John Stamos of Full House fame). Blackie swears he found it laying by a phone booth and takes Luke to the dumpster where her wallet was tossed out. The wallet is indeed Laura's and they find a wedding picture in her wallet. Rick admits that he didn't support Laura marrying Luke but he was wrong and he does like Luke. A brokenhearted Luke calls Ruby and tells her he needs to see her, she says he sounds awful. Once back at the yacht, Luke sees a young blonde wearing a red dress (ala Wyndham's). He calls out to her and tries to chase her down but she disappears. He tells Ruby about seeing her and starts to doubt if it was her or if he was seeing things. He pours his heart out to Ruby, how much he needs Laura, how beautiful she is, how much he misses her. He admits that he pretends to everyone that he is fine, and says that it is going to be fine, that Laura is fine. He tells Ruby that he can't do this anymore and he feels like crying. She gives him permission and tells him to go ahead and cry. This last for maybe two seconds and then she tells him to snap out of it that he is a Spencer! Richard Simmons is doing his exercise class at GH. He chastises his group, Audrey, Gail, Monica ect, as they are all lackluster in their participation. They apologize, as they are worried about Laura. They show the girl (another Laura) it's not Laura Webber Spencer but with her long blond hair looks very much like her. Jackie Templeton shows up at the boat with news about Laura. Luke jumps up excited that it's about his Laura. Jackie says no it's about her sister Laura Templeton. Luke is uninterested. Jackie tells Luke that she knows her sister. Jackie says her sister doesn't write notes and she believes that someone made her write the note she left. She wants Luke's help. He gets angry as his wife is missing and he is worried about her and doesn't have time to help her hunt for her missing sister. Robert shows up and offers to help Jackie. Leslie is worried about the new Laura as she feels for this unknown girl who was deliberately run down. Jackie shows Robert a picture of Laura. He says she looks very much like Laura Spencer. Luke comes in and when he sees the picture of Laura T. he says that he saw her the night Laura S. disappeared. When he tells Jackie that Laura Templeton was calling for help, she hauls off and slugs him for not helping her sister. He tells her that her sister was running away from him. Jackie tells him she is an investigator reporter and she believes that there is a connection between the disappearances of the two girls both named Laura, who look so much alike. Luke discounts this but Robert talks them into comparing notes. Luke tells her if he had thought there was any connection that he would have chased after Laura T, but his Laura wasn't even missing that time. Robert and Jackie brainstorm some more. Robert tells Jackie that someone (David Grey) was following Laura in New York and on the plane home. Luke tells Leslie that every flight that Laura took back and forth to and from New York had a David Gray on the flight (David was obviously following Laura S.). Luke checked out the address David gave the airlines but turns out it was phony. Leslie encourages Luke not to discount Jackie and to work with her as she might get a lead on Laura. Robert discovers that Laura T. was on the same flight as Laura S. Mel is shown reading a paper with an article about the third Laura's accident. He calls and leaves a message for David. Laura T. is worried that Mel will provoke David and he will kill them both. Mel says they are safe while he is working on this project for David. Leslie sits by the still unconscious Laura's bedside and talks to her. Luke sits at Kelly's looking lost without his Laura. Robert comes in and tells him that the third Laura is conscious and he leaves to question her. Tiffany tells Robert her vision for the opening night of the Haunted Star. They work out a code for Robert's act for a psychic. Luke is questioning Laura T. about her accident. Burt Ramsey walks in and takes over the questioning. Tiffany tells Robert how much she misses Laura. She feels responsible as she hooked Laura up with the New York agents. Robert comforts her and tells her that he is her friend and she isn't alone. Robert draws Tiffany in for a kiss but Luke's call interrupts them. They met up with Jackie and Luke at Kelly's. Luke arrives at the hospital and is devastated to learn from Rick and Leslie that Ruby had a hysterectomy and had complications and almost didn't make it. Ruby didn't want to burden Luke with her surgery when he had so much already on his mind. Luke continues to sit by Ruby's bedside. Luke races after a young blonde on roller skates yelling "Laura". David watches as he demands " Faster, Faster" and she knocks Jackie over a bridge railing. Jackie clings to the side of the bridge and Luke pulls her up from almost falling off the bridge. Luke angrily stops the roller skater who confusingly says he doesn't remember anything (David had obviously used his hypnotic power). Laura T. returns to the lab and Mel is upset that she went out. Luke, Robert and Jackie head back to Kelly's, they are pretty sure they saw Laura T. before the roller skater struck. They were at store having sale on small Ivory figures that Laura T. has a compulsion to steal. At Kelly's, Robert worries if Jackie is okay, whether she is having a delayed reaction from her near death experience. Robert says he is going to take Tiffany out to dinner for a belated Valentine's Day (its the day after). Luke goes to visit Ruby. Two men show up at the antique shop looking for David. His elderly assistant asks them to wait. David comes in a moment later and comments that everything is going according to plan. Robert and Jackie are on the ship; they are freezing as the heat is off again. They are planning to go over to a new sale looking for Laura T. Meanwhile, she is seen drooling over the same ad. Mel warns her not to leave again. He is about to do a trial run on his project just a warm up for the "big one" which will be the "biggest caper of the century". David instructs his goon he wants him to steal a very expensive, rare ceramic tiger from display, at exactly 10:30am, as a distraction will occur at that precise moment. When pressed David won't tell them about the diversion but he promises to astound them later with his revelation. David shows up at Mel's lab. He removes a windowpane and is about to do the test of Mel's device. At the store, the Jade Tiger with the emerald eyes is on display (the eyes are made of two of the finest emeralds in the world). Jackie and Robert are together; Tiffany arrives draped in her furs. Tiffany wants to have the position inside the store rather than in the alley. Jackie points out that Tiff wouldn't recognize Laura T. and Jackie is sure that she will show up. On location mall scenes as Luke and Jackie wait for the store to open. When it does, a line gathers inside. Robert is on watch out front; Tiffany is in the alley in back of the store. David puts on his sunglasses as Laura cries out that she smells smoke in Mel's lab during the test, the lights go out in the lab as the system is overloaded. At the store, a guy gets a signal from David and he grabs the tiger and runs. Robert helps chase him down, as does Luke. Jackie spots Laura T. and yells for Luke to help her and they chase after them. Luke jumps on the hood of their car and holds on as they peel out. They burst through the parking barricade and Luke is thrown off. Jackie yells to warn Luke of an oncoming car. He summersaults out of the way of the approaching car, most likely driven by David. Luke jumps in a nearby Jeep (that conveniently has the keys in the car) and takes off after David as Jackie's yells for Luke to wait for her. Desperate to follow, she grabs a bike and heads out after them. Poor Tiffany is still waiting patiently in the alley unaware of all the action out front. Robert has chased the guy down and taken back the tiger. David careens down the street. Luke, who is still on his tail, is held up by a funeral procession and Jackie passes him on the bike. Luke leaves the jeep, and grabs a policeman's horse and takes off on horseback in hot pursuit. Robert is also in pursuit. Tiff, still waiting in the alley, is berated by a homeless lady for encroaching on her territory. Luke catches up to Jackie but they have lost David. Jackie and Robert compare notes. She tells him that the guy driving the black car tried to deliberately run Luke down and she suspects it was David Grey. Back at the lab, Laura worries that David will be furious with them. He returns and is very unhappy that the test was such a disaster. He tells Laura not to make any plans or decisions on her own. David says that they will have to do a new test and Mel and Laura better pray that they didn't se it up. David returns to the antique store, upset. Two goons tell him they are very unhappy with the failure of the distraction. Mel and Laura T. head over to the antique shop. David is annoyed with her and she tells him she is tired of his threats and she isn't afraid of him. He tells her that he has thorns removed, like Luke and her sister Jackie, and she would be wise not to underestimate his power. He tells her he has not done anything to hurt either of them but he has removed Luke. Laura T. worries that if he was taken care of Luke that he could also try to kill Jackie. Robert and Jackie go to Kelly's for lunch, Robert remembers that he has forgotten Tiffany in the alley! He rushes out and she lets him have it for forgetting her. Back at Kelly's, Jackie also apologizes to Tiffany and tells her how much she appreciates her help. David shows them a hologram of Laura that looks very real. David explains to Mel and Laura T. that Mrs. Whitaker saw this hologram in her barn and called Luke and Luke followed the trail to the private charter (none of this is shown). Luke questions a charter pilot about holding a flight for him. He stops and buys a sword (?) and heads to the airport. Luke thinks Laura S. is on the charter (David planted these false clues to get Luke out of town). David continues to explain that he has arranged for Luke to be taken overseas to a remote area and this will keep Jackie and Robert busy looking for a Luke they will never find. He warns her that Luke Spencer was a thorn that has been removed and her and her sister have become thorns as well. Luke boards the plane and through a glass door to the cabin sees the captain struggling with someone who looks like Laura S. Her face is obscured until after the plane has taken off and she turns and he sees that it is not his Laura. Luke is told that he is being taken to Shangri La and he realizes he has been set up. Robert and Jackie are waiting in Beecher's Corners. Robert gets an anonymous call that Luke has been taken hostage aboard the Jasper flight. Luke has parachuted to earth (main parachuting not shown only him jumping out of the plane and landing). David is irate to hear this and immediately fires those responsible. Luke calls the Whitakers. They rush out to fetch Luke. Robert reports to a disappointed Rick that the Laura clues were a set up to get Luke out of town. David tells Mel that Luke must have sensed a set up and took a parachute with him. The Whitakers catch Robert and Jackie before they leave town and tell them about Luke's call. They are to head back to PC. Laura T. overhears David tell Mel his plans for Luke and Jackie. She sneaks out and goes to Jackie's hotel to see her but Jackie is out at the time. Laura T. calls and warns Luke that David is the one who set him up and he plans to kill him and Jackie. She is afraid that David is now after her, Laura, she is right, he is. She has called Luke from a phone booth on a foggy pier, very similar to Laura S.'s last scene. Luke shows up and is very relieved to have found her, they embrace and he takes her back to the yacht. Jackie and Robert go up to Jackie's room and find the note that Laura T. has left for her. Robert and Luke talk to Benny about a lead on Laura's pendant that a sailor tried to hawk. The sailor returns to Kelly's to pay his tab. Rose later hears Joe and Robert talking and figures out this is the same guy who told her about the necklace from the previous night. Joe sends Blackie out to check all the pawnshops. The bearded sailor they are all looking for is seen shaving. Blackie tracks down the pawnshop and Joe retrieves and returns Laura S.'s necklace to Luke but still no sign of the mysterious sailor. Luke, Jackie, and Laura go to Mel's lab. He isn't there; the place is empty of everything including her clothes. She professes ignorance about what Mel is doing. Next, they head to David's antique store to see David. He is conveniently out of town. Mel has left a suitcase of Laura's clothes. Robert and Luke aren't believing Laura T.'s story so they arrange for her to take a lie detector test down at the PD. She finally agrees, as does Burt Ramsey. When he tells Tiff that he is taking off she gets upset saying they have been so busy since the success of the opening night acts. (Note: the opening of Luke's club is missing). Luke promises he will send Slick to help her out with the club. After the polygraph, Luke accuses Laura T. of lying during it but the test indicates she was telling the truth, as she knows it. So the guys figure that David hypnotized her so she thinks she is telling the truth. Back at the yacht, Tiffany spots the sailor and calls Luke. Luke takes the necklace to Rick and Leslie. Johnny tells the Webbers that Blackie's gang is very grateful to them for the Sports Center and they are all out looking for the sailor and Laura. Luke and Robert question the sailor. He denies any knowledge of Laura or being involved with her disappearance. He claims to have been at sea. Luke makes an immediate appointment with the Harbor Master to check out the story. The Harbor Master confirms the sailor's story that he was out to sea at that time. Luke learns that Captain Hawthorne had given the necklace to the sailor and he is still in town and has to testify at a hearing. Luke, Leslie and Amy head down there to try to catch the captain. They overhear him testifying. The hearing is about a maritime accident where his ship crashed into a small cabin cruiser. When he comes out he identifies the necklace that Luke has as being the one he found at the crash site. Luke explains that the necklace belonged to his wife who disappeared on January 15th. The captain reports the accident occurred on January 20th. They show the family the personal possessions found. Amy sobs when she recognizes Laura S.'s raincoat. The captain goes on to say that he also thought he saw a young woman with blonde hair in the wreckage but couldn't identify her, she sank with the wreckage before he could get to her. David and Mel worry about Luke's psychic abilities. David says the psychic thing is all just a fake nightclub act. The Sports Center is dedicated in Laura's memory. Luke goes outside, as he is upset, as he hasn't accepted that Laura is dead. He tells Johnny that he can't go back in; he can't look at the memorial banner but encourages Johnny to win the fight! Later, Ruby tells Luke that she understands why he ran out. He tells her he is a fighter, she raised him to be so and he can't give up on Laura. Back to Johnny's fight as various PCers cheer him on. On the yacht, Luke hugs Laura T. when she appears dressed in a red dress eerily reminiscent of the dress Laura wore at Wyndham's. Jackie tells Laura T. that when she appeared on deck in the red dress that Luke thought she was his wife. Robert and Tiffany are doing their psychic act at the club, and then Luke does his psychic act next. David Grey comes in; Laura takes a medallion on a chain from him. Blindfolded, Luke says he sees a sword, royalty, and says a strange word (Ishkandar) that freaks David out. David is stunned by Luke's abilities. He rushes out, leaving Luke holding the medallion. Later, Robert asks Luke to try to hold the medallion again to see if he can get any more information. Luke reminds him that the psychic flashes aren't something he can control. He does see a sword fight. They recognize David from a picture in the newspaper. David tells Mel that Spencer is naturally gifted and they need to get the medallion back asap before Luke learns the truth about what they are up to. David sends Mel to retrieve the medallion. His cover is a pretext of getting Laura T. back. David reminds Mel that she has been programmed to work with Spencer and the gang. Jackie researches the medallion. Tiffany and Robert go to see a gypsy fortuneteller. Tiffany is not happy that Robert asked Jackie not to leave PC. They gypsy says she didn't show up for the club opening as she sensed great evil there that night. When they asked her to hold the medallion she drops it immediately and runs screaming into the night. Luke says he knows the medallion is important to David and that he will come after Luke to retrieve it. Luke sees an ad with his Laura's picture. Jackie tries to get him to accept that Laura isn't coming back. He refuses to accept that she is dead. Magda (the gypsy) is looking at the same picture of Laura Spencer and promises herself that she will help Luke even though she is afraid. David calls Luke and wants to arrange a meeting. David offers a trade of info about the night Laura disappeared for the medallion. David uses his hypnotic powers to try to convince Luke that Laura was involved in a boat accident and that Laura is dead. Luke breaks free of the trance saying, "No, it was no accident! You hypnotized her!". Luke puts it all together, Luke believes that David hypnotized Laura, put her on the boat and sent her out to sea. He tells Jackie and Robert that Grey almost succeeded in hypnotizing him and he figures out that maybe the gypsy hypnotized Mrs. Whitaker and that she was unknowingly working for David when she reported seeing Laura at the farm. We see the gypsy writing on a package as she says it will give Luke all of his answers. Luke tells Robert and Jackie that there is a much bigger picture, a battle going on and they are pawns in it. Luke just wants to be left alone in his grief. After they leave, he says, "I love you Laura. I will always love you." Seemingly saying goodbye. Luke sees Laura T. on stage as Wyndham's music plays. He turns hopefully but realizes it is Laura T. and throws his glass in his grief and frustration. Mel gives David a hard time about losing his medallion to Luke asking if David has met his match. Luke sits drinking at the bar after has closed the club down. Robert, Tiff, and Jackie talk about what they are facing: a large organization, the antique storefront, the gypsy, and the jewelry store heist. They puzzle over the meaning of the medallion. Tiffany worries about Luke's drinking. Robert advises her to leave him to it if that is what he needs to do. Jackie opposes Luke drinking himself into oblivion. Robert warns her that Luke needs to be alone. They ponder their future since he club has only been open two weeks. A tortured Luke returns to his stateroom and sees his wedding picture as "Key Largo" plays. He starts breaking things till he finds the Wyndham's dress. He holds it tenderly as the words of the song play, "we had it all...just like Boogie and Bacall....here's looking at all the things we did..." He goes back to breaking things and crashing around. He ignores Robert pounding on the door. A child arrives with a package for Luke. Robert accepts it as Luke is heard screaming his grief in the background. Luke packs Laura's dress in a suitcase and throws it overboard in a tortured farewell, "I will ALWAYS LOVE YOU!" Luke goes back to the club area and tells them he has cleared his head. He will understand whatever they have to do, sell their shares whatever but he is hanging onto the club. Robert assures him he will always be there for him. Tiffany assures him of her love and support and if he is going after whoever killed Laura then she is right behind him. David asks for help from "Magis" saying he can't control Spencer. Medallions are seen changing hands. Luke tells the gang that he has a plan and Laura T. is crucial to it. He wants to use truth serum on her and hopes she can tell them about the medallion. She is less than thrilled with this idea, he guilts her into it and she agrees. Luke declares the club is reopened! Dan Rooney and Lila rave about the treasures of Malcouth as they make arrangements. They reminisce over last year's art auction, the mummy case, and the stolen Ice Princess statue. She assures Dan she has arranged for additional security this year! David and Mel show up and put the whammy on the security guard to let them into the museum. Mel tells him that he can beam in a hologram through the window replacing the real treasure. Mel assures him that unless someone touches the treasure they will never realize it isn't the real thing. Robert has been hired by the museum to provide security. He quizzes Mel when he see him there snapping pictures with the rest of the press. Luke talks Laura to see Dr. Katz for the truth serum appointment and goes in with her. Luke questions Laura while she is under but David has a heavy hypnotic block and Luke is unable to get through to her. The doctor stops Luke from pressing her saying it isn't safe. The gypsy shows up to see Luke. She offers to read tarot cards for Tiffany. Tiffs question? Will she win an Academy Award? When Magda looks puzzled, Tiff says she will settle for a nomination! Magda folds up her cards, withdraws the offer to read for Tiff and says she will take a drink instead. She tells Tiff that she is from India. At the museum, the Ambassador describes the location of Malcouth as between Afghanistan and India (sounds like around Pakistan). Luke returns back to the ship. He questions Magda and wants to know the meaning of the deck of French playing cards that she sent him. She hints that he can read their meaning. He insists he doesn't know what she is talking about. He brings out the medallion and she cringes in horror and fear and refuses to look at it. He demands to know its significance. She cryptically tells him he already knows. Ishkandar is the Malcouth word for Alexander. They plan to question the Ambassador. Robert uses Lila's affection for him to invite the Q's to bring the Ambassador to the Haunted Star for dinner. At the club, Tiff unveils her new fringe dress. Luke tells her she looks like a 40's lamp. Jackie is speechless. Luke wants Tiff to do a number on the Ambassador. Tiff loves her role as a spy and the opportunity to use her acting skills. At the lab, Mel tells David he didn't have time to get all of the pictures he needed with all of the angles he needed. The plan is to display a hologram of the object so that the theft isn't immediately discovered. He left early, as he was made nervous by Robert's and Jackie's questions. Mel says he needs better measurements. David strongly suggests that he get them or he won't live long enough to regret it! **The End** |
