DVD#9A The
courtroom reacts to Robin's testimony, and the judge calls for order.
The judge warns Robin that she's close to contempt. Dara has no
further questions. Ms. Huston, Tony's lawyer, asks Robin if Tony was
emotionally distraught and Robin agrees that he was. Tony is clearly
not pleased with Huston's line of questioning. Robin's testimony
ends. Outside the courtroom, Justus asks Taggert to give a note to Dara.
"Do it yourself", he replies. Justus asks if Taggert wants
to see Tony behind bars or not. Taggert takes the note and delivers it as
Dara calls Bobbie to the stand. Helena accosts Robin in the hall and asks
about her testimony. Brenda walks in and Robin leaves without
answering Helena.
Bobbie testifies that she's afraid of Tony because he was ready to steal
Lucas too. She goes on to say that Robin could've died from the
pneumonia and that Robin is deceiving herself. Bobbie says she lost
BJ too but not every parent that loses a child becomes a kidnapper and
then proceeds to rant on and on about how Tony has no right to use BJ as
an excuse until Tony's lawyer objects. "Finally," Tony says.
Dara is finished questioning Bobbie. Ms. Huston asks if Tony had ever
shown signs of becoming a kidnapper prior to that incident. Bobbie
says "no". Tony is not happy that his lawyer is obviously
pursuing an insanity defense and the trial is over for the day. When Tony
is being led out, Helena reminds Tony that "she's still here".
"Get me out of here," he replies. Helena calls
Alexis on her cellphone and tells her to get Tony off.
Outside, Felicia and Robin exchange encouraging words. Robin apologizes to
Mac, who says her testimony was okay, as long as it's the truth. Justus
then tells Jason that Robin really hurt the case against Tony, he couldn't
have asked for a better witness. Bobbie pleads with Jason in the hallway
to talk some sense to Robin, but he won't intervene. Carly accosts Robin
and asks her why she did it? Carly lays into Robin. Where does she
get off defending Tony? He acts like the baby is his! Well, who
first that idea in his head, Robin replies. The blame can be laid at
Carly's door. She was the one who tricked him in the first place. Robin
tells her that Michael's life is being built on a bed of lies. Carly
responds that Robin is just jealous of her baby, since Robin and Jason
can't make one of their own. Jason overhears this and is displeased.
Carly is instructed to lay off Robin, and Carly is snotty about him
"taking Robin's side". But she follows him meekly enough
when he orders her home with him. Bobbie gently reminds Robin, who wipes
away a tear, of the terrible hurt Tony inflicted on so many of them. She
urges the girl to rethink her testimony when's she's called again to the
stand.
Jason warns Carly not to try to turn him against Robin. Carly reminds him
that if she goes, Michael goes too. Jason tells her not to force it
to come to that. He leaves a humiliated Carly blinking back tears.
Bobbie comes by and delicately questions her about Jason, but Carly swears
that they're "just fine". The women get closer as Bobbie
suggests that Lucas and Michael, along with their moms, all get together
as a family. Back at the courthouse, Jason tries to understand Robin's
explanations for defending Tony. But he can't, after all Tony's a
kidnapper. Robin reasons, couldn't Jason himself be termed that,
since he's keeping AJ's son away from him? Jason can't see the similarity
between him and Tony, but it makes no difference anyway. Whatever
happens to Tony, he claims, will happen.
Felicia and Robin try to pep each other up reminding themselves that they
did the right thing. They remember who the real Tony Jones is while
others want to just throw him away. Felicia admires Robin for
showing the judge Tony's human side. Carly comes in and thanks AJ for his
testimony. After what she did to him, he didn't have to do it. AJ
just told the truth, a baby belongs with his parents. Jason arrives on
that note. Alexis confers with Tony. She doesn't think he should take the
stand. If convicted he could get 40 years. But he insists. She calls
Tony to the stand. She asks him if he was insane when he took
Michael. He says no, absolutely not. Tony talks about finding out he was
going to be a father. It was like a rebirth for him since he had lost his
own daughter. He talks of the effects her death had on his life. His life
stopped and his marriage fell apart, even his work became simply busy
work. His entire life became about grief. With Carly's child, he was
given permission to live again. Tony talks about the baby's impending
birth and how that impacted his life, how he planned for it. He also
took care of Carly, monitored her condition and made sure all of her needs
were met.
Carly doesn't quite agree as she whispers to Jason, "That's
ridiculous. He had me working at GH all the way up to the last minute. I
was lucky I didn't have Michael on my coffee break." Tony
continues that he loved Michael before he drew a single breath. Tony
moves on to the breakup and Carly's announcement that Jason was the
father. He thought she was lying until he found out their blood types were
incompatible. He felt like he had lost another child. He also
felt fear that Jason would put Michael's life in danger. He gave the
example of Jason being shot in Mac's living room. Tony talks about the
bodyguards - how Jason's way of life being no way to raise a child.
He goes on to talk about Jason's trauma after the car accident - and the
severe trauma he suffered and the brain damage. Tony insists he
acted as a father would. He had no choice because he was trying to
save Michael's life! (Tony had tears in his eyes through some of his
testimony).
Dara has no questions for Tony but reserves the right to call him later.
Alexis has another witness, she calls Jason Morgan to the stand.
Clearly surprised, Dara tries to fight it. Jason wasn't on the
witness list or been disposed. As Alexis and Dara fight it out, Justus
tells Carly that Dara probably wants to portray Jason as an unfit parent.
Jason has to take the stand. Alexis tries to get him to admit his criminal
lifestyle and that his life is dangerous. She brings up the drive by
shooting at Luke's, Michael's bodyguards, the fact that Jason named
Michael after Sonny Corinthos, his arrest record (23 arrests). Dara
objects and she has to say that the arrests were nuisance arrests and that
Alexis hasn't proved that Jason is anything but a reputable business man.
Justus passes a note to Taggart who passes it to Dara. It says,
"Jason loves Michael. Get him to show it."
Dara questions Jason about the prices of Michael's baby things, Michael's
birth, Michael's birth defect and present health, and doctor's info. She's
trying to show that Jason is an involved parent. And Jason does a good job
as he explains some of his "quality" time with Michael and their
bonding experiences. Dara's asking Jason about finding Tony. She
asks him why he didn't kill Tony - the Jason that the defense described
surely would have. Jason says he wasn't about to go to prison and be
separated from Michael. Dara has no more questions. Both Dara and Alex
rest their cases. Everybody seems confident that Dara will succeed.
Jason thanks her.
Justus filled in Jason in on all the repercussions of the strike, school
closings, no trash removal, etc. When they speculated about the trial,
Justus said, basically, that Tony didn't have a chance after Jason's great
testimony, and defended his note to Dara. Bobbie brought Lucas to the
penthouse for a visit. Jason had some concerns, but Carly shushed them and
he split. Though he's initially tentative, Lucas eventually warmed up. So
much so that Carly neglected her mother's order not to tell Lucas about
her familial relationship. Bobbie explained the circumstances of the
adoption to Lucas. As they were leaving, Bobbie suggested Lucas call
Monica to see if she'd like to come with him on his next visit to his
nephew. Jerry Jax paid a visit to Jason's penthouse, in order to
flirt with Carly and Bobbie. Well. He said he had a message for Jason. As
her laid it on thick, Carly was delighted, Bobbie was more circumspect.
Justus, at the courthouse informs Jason that thanks to Wentworth shipping,
the opposition has caved. Morgan immediately smells a fishy fish in the
harbor. As Ned announces that the strike is over, Jerry and Jax have an
exchange where we found out that the dock call Jerry made was to someone
at Wentworth shipping. He promised Jax that they would have the last laugh
over Jason, after all which Jason appeared to overhear.
Luke is listening to his bug on Helena's yacht. Jason comes in.
Luke is pleased that his garbage is being picked up during the strike, but
"you didn't come here to talk trash. What's up?"
Benny told Jason that Lucky is on Helena's yacht. Luke knew, he's not
listening to Books on Tape but is monitoring his son's education. Luke
tells Jason that Lucky isn't living at home and asks if Jason can put
someone on Lucky to follow him. Jason asks Luke if Robin is safe with Nik.
Luke, of course, thinks Nik is as bad as all the other Cassadines.
Luke leaves Jason in the office and goes out to deal with a supplier. Mike
comes in and talks to Jason, asking about Michael. Jason is not sure
Tony is going to jail. He doesn't understand Robin any more.
If Tony goes free, however, "in the end, it's not going to matter
very much." Mike warns him to stick with Michael more than to
get revenge. Jason finishes doing the books as Luke blasts back in.
Jason has "taken care of" the supplier.
Jason is sending our major signals that, regardless of the outcome, he
plans to take care of Dr. Jones. Carly completely misses these
signals. Jason reminding her, "You just have to make it through
today." She tells Jason she wants Tony to get the max, 44 years.
He tells her Tony will pay for what he's done, then scoots off to talk to
Justus. Carly talks to Bobbie, asking about Lucas's reaction to the news
that she's his sister. Bobbie says he's taking it well, and they
agree that Tony is a menace to both their sons. Tensions are running
high, as Bobbie and Felicia exchange words about Tony, and then Carly lays
into Felicia for criticising Bobbie, prompting Felicia to remind Carly
that no one has given Bobbie more grief in the past year than Carly
herself. Robin tells Jason, "I know we both want different things
today, so I can't really wish you good luck. But whatever happens, I
hope you remember that Michael's safety was always the most important
thing, and now we have." Jason answers evenly that Michael is safe
because "Dr. Jones can't get anywhere near him. And that's not
going to change." Later, Robin and Felicia remind one another that
they did the right thing. Robin realizes this is a minority opinion,
"Do you know how many people are going to hate us if Tony gets a
light sentence?"
Finally, Tony enters the courtroom, looking menacing. He shoots a
mocking look at carly. The judge enters, says he'll render a
verdict, and warns against courtroom interruptions. Defense has
offered a plea, we learn, of second-degree custodial interference and the
prosecution has agreed to that plea. There's a one-year maximum
sentence. No mention is made of the kidnapping of Robin. Everyone is
stunned, esp. Carly. She sputters to Jason that they've ignored the
evidence. Evidence had nothing to do with it, he says.
"Someone got to Dara Jansen." There's a brief recess
before the judge hears arguments about sentencing. There is much grumbling
in the court, and Carly grows increasingly upset. Jason says,"
After we hear the sentence, I may have to go make some arrangements, and I
want you to stay here." Apparently, however, it never dawns on
Carly what Jason has in mind. Alexis beseeches the court not to send Tony
to jail, since his only crime, she says with a straight face, "is
loving a child too well." Dara concurs, and agrees to a sentence of
community service. Everyone is shocked, and there is much gavel
banging. Sentenced to one year of community service, Tony grins at
carly from across the room. Jason rushes away, saying, "Come
on, Justus." Carly is left alone, shocked to the core.
"No, no, no," she repeats like a mantra, tears glistening in her
eyes in a way that makes her look positively possessed.
Felicia hugs Tony while Robin looks on, smiling. Everyone is
standing around in little groups, except Carly, who is all alone and in
tears. Tony looks directly at her as Robin takes her turn hugging
his neck, and grins smugly. Carly can't take it, the kidnapper of her baby
being congratulated while he smugly celebrates being a free man.
Tony shows no remorse whatsoever, and no one is talking about psychiatric
counseling anymore. Tears glistening in her eyes, Carly starts
toward Tony crying, "You bastard!" Taggert steps in front
of her, and pushes her back. But then Mac calls to Taggert, he turns
to see what Mac wants, and Carly grabs Taggert's gun and she fires it at
Tony. Tony falls. Alexis and Monica rush to him, ripping open his
shirt to tend his wound. Jason grabs Carly's hand. She grips the gun in
shock. "They were going to let him go, Jason."
"Let go, Carly," Jason tells her. "Let go of the gun."
He pulls it from her hand. Mac takes charge and clears the room.
"Bobbie, I need you now!" Monica shouts. Bobbie hesitates,
then joins Monica, kneeling over Tony's form. Alexis steps back,
staring at the blood on her hands. Mac dresses down Tagg or being careless
with his gun, then gets on Dara's case for letting Tony off so easy. Jason
warns Carly to say nothing until they talk to Justus. Bobbie asks Jason to
look after her daughter. Carly, in shock, murmurs that she must get home
as she told Michael that she would put him down for his nap. "I
Promised him, Jason, I promised..." Justus suggests cooperation with
the police. Mac asks Carly to stand as he places her under arrest.
Carly cries "no" hysterically. Justus and Dara confer. Out of
guilt she treats him coldly, informs him to call her
"counselor", and tells him that all will be done by the book
with no special treatment, no bending the rules. Jason tells Carly to stay
strong as Mac mirandizes her. Carly is taken away in handcuffs, but not
before asking Jason to "tell Michael I love him." The Qs mill
about in the hallway. AJ angrily can understand what motivated Carly
if anyone stole his child, he can't say what he'd do! Ed thinks they
should strike while the proverbial iron is hot and make their move to take
custody of Michael. Em and Ned pledge their determination to
undermine any such effort. Robin overhears and tells everyone what a
wonderful father Jason is.
Jason visits Carly in jail and tells her Tony is still alive. She demands
he get busy and bribe someone to get her out. He explains to her
that she needs to be patient, he can do things to help but they will take
time, crying and apologizing won1t get her out of this and that a psych.
eval.. is her best bet at present. She promises, again, to do
whatever he says. Jason leaves after reassuring Carly of his tepid liking
for her, and Bobbie comes in as Carly cries. They discuss Tony a
little bit. Bobbie and Carly bond over various things. Jason returns
with news of Carly's psych eval and Bobbie sees it as a very hopeful sign.
In an effort to appease her guilt, Alexis visited Jason
and Justus and tried to offer them help with Carly. After rejecting
Alexis's offer, Jason learned that she had been forced to represent Tony
and that the Cassadines had an interest in setting Tony free. Jason
pays a visit to Tony's hospital quarters, he scares Dr. Jones into
reaching for the nurses' call button, but grabs it before Tony can, gives
him a nasty look or two, then leaves. Carly pleads the case to AJ of all
the reasons Jason should be left alone as Michael's daddy while she's
incarcerated. Jason enters and looks stunned when AJ announces he'll do
all in his power to see that Michael's parental custody isn't interfered
with anymore. Jason and Carly are discussing her plight when Justus then
arrived to tell Jason and Carly that they would soon learn if she would
stay in jail or be shipped to a mental institution.
Jason visits Carly in jail, she will be transfered to a mental facility.
She expresses her concern that she will be found mentally unstable and
have Michael taken away from her. "Tony Jones is the psycho
here, not me. He's the one who should be in the padded cell."
Justus explains to her that it is a good move for her. Jason wants to
arrange a last visit with Michael. Justus tells her not to lose heart.
Jason thinks maybe the judge could get sick and a better one take over.
This appalls Justus, who tells them (looking at Carly, but meaning Jason)
that they can work within the system. Carly thinks Tony's probably happy
Carly shot him. Jason assures her Tony is not laughing.
Carly asks how long she will be at the psych. facility. She worries
that they'll decide she's crazy, but Jason is calling in favors.
Justus and Jason leave by one door to go get Michael, and Bobbie comes in
the other door. Carly is surprised she came. Bobbie tells her she'll
look in on Michael every day. Carly thinks of Bobbie and Michael all
the time. Now she understands how Bobbie felt giving her up, and she
apologizes for the pain she caused. Bobbie tells her to focus on her own
problems. Every thought in her mind should be to get back to
Michael. Carly's worried that Michael will forget her. Bobbie
assures her he won't. "Take it one step at a time."
Carly frets about the post-partum depression and Bobbie assures her she'll
come back again. When Jason comes back with Michael. Carly loves holding
Michael, and then they take her away.
Tony is in his hospital bed, having nightmares about Jason. Robin comes
in. He is annoyed that no one comes to visit him. Tony thanks Robin
for her testimony. Robin tells him she just wanted the judge to see the
other side of Tony and she asks Tony to vow not to kidnap Michael again.
Tony refuses to promise saying he still thinks Michael is in danger. Robin
is surprised Tony still doesn't regret his actions and tells him Jason
would never let Michael get hurt. Tony tells Robin how dangerous Jason is
and how Jason stood over his bed watching him. Tony tells her she is too
in love with Jason to see that he is a gangster and that she needs to stay
away from him because Jason will wind up killing her and Michael. Robin
can't believe Tony still believes he did the right thing. Robin
tells him that Jason does indeed know right from wrong. Tony tells her
Jason threatened him. Later, she sees Jason at the Penthouse.
She has been feeding Michael, and it would seem that Carly got it 100%
right that she's envious of Carly's life and Carly's baby. She tells
Jason about seeing Tony and tells Jason he was wrong to threaten Tony.
"Promise you won't hurt Tony." Jason tells Robin that
Michael doesn't care.
Justus visits Carly at the psychiatric facility. Carly's mood is as
foul as Brenda's, to no surprise. Carly asks about Michael, and Justus
tells her that Jason is in Manhattan, "talking to some people on your
behalf." Carly tells him she refused to go along with an
evaluation before she had a chance to talk to him about how she should
"play" this. Justus gets irritated at her for being
uncooperative with the authorities, but she says she had to know what she
should do to conform with whatever story they will use in court.
Should she tell the doctors the truth? "Jason says I should,
but he can be a little naive as to how much good that can do."
Carly asks if she should claim Tony threatened her, and he snaps,
"I'm not going to tell you to lie." Justus doesn't think
much of Carly, and lets her know that. He worries that Carly may
change Jason from the honest man he is, because "once upon a
time, Tony Jones was an honest man. And then he met you."
Ned has come to warn Carly about his family. They'll do anything to
take Michael away from her. Do not trust them, he cautions her.
Carly wants to know why he's telling her this. "Because I know
what it's like to be separated from a child that you love. Besides,
except for Emily and Grandmother, Jason is the only decent relative I have
and I sorta enjoy looking out for him." He tells her to let him know
if there is anything she needs. Carly, clearly lonely, asks him to stay
longer. He leaves to meet Jason's plane, asks if there's a message
for Jason. Carly asks for pictures of Michael, "and tell him
not to throw out any of my swatch books."
The jet is airborne, and Brenda is giving Jason a piece of her mind, while
he tries his best to ignore her. She paces the cabin, she snarls at
him that she knows he has men watching her house. She wants to know if
he's spying on her or on Robin. "I have someone watching the house so
no one gets kidnapped." "Oh, Robin," she says,
assuming she has him all figured out. Then she snarls at him that
Robin had baby clothes delivered to the house, and she taunts him about
grooming Robin as "Michael's new mommy." He snarls that he
and Robin are none of Brenda's business and then the plane hits turbulence
and shakes violently. The pilot makes an announcement to that effect to
Jason and Brenda, and reminds them to stay buckled. Brenda makes her own
announcement that dying with Jason would be too ironic, so things will
have to work out. She continues to harp at Jason about Robin, and
about Sonny's supposed mistreatment of herself. She compares Jason
to Sonny and Robin to herself, and that ticks Jason off. "You
are so exactly like Sonny. I want better for Robin. Can't you
understand that?" Jason tells her there is no comparison
between Brenda and Robin.
Jason is now yelling back at Brenda, telling her to stop comparing
yourself to Robin. "You wore the wire on Sonny." Goes on
about how Brenda betrayed Sonny, and he can trust Robin.
"Afraid she won't buy your act any more?" Brenda snarls.
Jason fires back, "I don't have an act. That's for people like
you, spending all their time trying to figure out who they are and what
they want." She goes off to tell the pilot to land the plane so
she doesn't have to listen to him any more. But then the plane
begins to plunge, and she is thrown into her seat.
Ned, Jax and Jerry do their best to locate the whereabouts of the downed
plane. Bobbie arrives at the Q's and tells them of the downed plane. Jason
and Brenda hang on for dear life as the plane nosedives. Even in the midst
of their life-threatening trauma, they find time to squabble. They crash
and they are both knocked unconcious. Brenda wakens, then cries for Jason
to wake up. A trickle of water gurgles through the plane door. He rouses,
Bren checks on the pilot, he's dead. She found this cool pack of
stuff that she thinks they need. Jason tells her to put down the pack as
they don't need it. Brenda puts down the pack and plays supergal, lifting
some heavy object that is trapping Jason's leg. Jason frees himself and
tells her that they have to open the door and swim for safety. In the
water, they attach themselves to a floating piece of debris. Jason
grimaces manfully and Brenda screams helpfully as they paddle into the
darkness. Robin meets Nick for breakfast. They make small talk
until Robin spies a newspaper headline, "CRIME LORD AND MODEL IN
PLANE CRASH!" Nick comforts Robin . She asks Nick to drive her
somewhere, she's too upset. Edward is already moving in on Michael before
he even knows if there's a body. One of his cronies, Judge Carter,
has signed a court order giving him temporary custody. It's for
Michael's own good. Edward doesn't think the baby is safe in Jason's
penthouse. Monica agrees. Until they know what's going on,
Michael belongs with them.
Carly is surprised when Bobby comes for a visit. As she tells Bobby that
Michael will be okay as long as he has Jason, Bobby has to tell her that
Jason's plane fell off radar and he is missing. Bobby tries to put on a
positive spin, pointing out that he may have survived as no crash site has
been found yet. Carly reacts emotionally to the news. She
cries and laments, "Not Jason." Carly looks shell shocked
and more than a little lost as Bobby puts her arms around her in comfort.
Bobby tries to give her hope. Carly takes comfort from the fact that
Brenda was on the plane with Jason otherwise everybody would just leave
Jason out there to rot. She talks about how Jason is her everything,
the only friend she ever had. He never judged her; he gave her everything
she needed. She was happy that Jason was the father because she knew
Jason would never teach her son to be ashamed of her. Carly's worries move
to Michael. What will happen to him? She wants to see him. But Bobby
has already petitioned for her to see Michael. It was rejected.
Carly knows the Quartermaines will used this opportunity to take Michael.
Bobby believes they are too upset about Jason to move in on Michael now
but Carly knows better. She wants Bobby to help her stop the Quartermaines
from taking her son. Bobby calls the penthouse and reports that everything
is fine with Michael, the Q's haven't even called. Bobby assures her
that if Jason is gone then she'll be there for Michael, he can live with
her and she won't let the Q's cut Michael out of Carly's life.
Besides, Bobby again assures her, Edward is a lone wolf in that family.
Monica would never let Edward file for custody. Carly wants to appoint
Bobby as Michael's guardian but Bobby doesn't want to scoop down on
Michael while Jason is only missing. She seems to understand that
doing that would alienate him. But Carly thinks Jason would
appreciate her protecting Michael from the Q's. Carly worries that
Bobby just has second thoughts about keeping her son. Bobby, just thinks
Michael should be in familiar surroundings until they know for certain
what has happened to Jason. Bobby tells her that the important thing is to
work on getting home to her son. Carly thanks Bobby for coming up to tell
her about Jason.
Jason and Brenda survive their water logged adventure. They wake up on dry
land. Their supplies are soaked through, all but the map, it looks
pretty dry. Brenda "mourns" for the pilots kids while
Jason thinks only of survival. Of course, Jason, the mobster has no
feelings about the dead pilot, Brenda babbles. Jason just wants to figure
a way out. He wants Brenda to look at the map. It's Greek to him, he
can't read it. Brenda wants to sit and wait for Jax to come find
them. Brenda can't read a map any better than Jason. She knows they're
near a lake. A plane flies over head..she wants a flare. Jason
tells her not to waste it, it's a passenger jet, too high to spot the
flare, besides the flares are all wet. So Brenda goes back to Plan A. Sit
and wait for Jax. Jason is already sick of her, he doesn't want to
sit and wait for Jax when an interstate could be only miles away.
He's not waiting since he knows the Q's are already moving in on Michael.
Brenda tries to read the map, and figures out they may be sixty miles from
safety. Jason wants to walk. She still likes Plan A. Jason
wins. They decide north is the way they want to go. Brenda observes,
"It's morning. The sun rises in the east, sets in the west. This is
north." Later, Brenda sees a berry on a tree and wants to eat
it but Jason won't let her as it could be poisonous.
Brenda snarks, "Ooh, you trying to save my
life?"
Jason dryly points out, "You're the only one
who can read a map. Which way?"
Brenda, "North!" Jason goes off on a
scouting expedition. Brenda follows. They argue over who will carry
the bag and she falls down the hill. Moments of suspense as Brenda
holds on to a root to keep from sliding down the slippery slope and Jason
desperately tries to save her. She screams. He pulls. She collapses
in his arms. Brenda has re-injured her hip and is in pain.
There's pain pills in the emergency kit. A search plane flies over
head and Jason frantically tries to light a flare. But they're still all
wet. It passes. Jason wants to keep walking. He has no choice but to
carry her. Robin arrives at Jason's. She and Monica exchange well
wishes. Robin wants to see Michael and explain why his father isn't
there. Bobbie pays a visit to Carly. Ned arrives to tell them about
his family's hijacking of Michael's custody. Carly wigs out. Bobbie
returns to Carly and tries to infuse some hope into the situation.
Brenda's hip hurts. She looks for Jason. He was out looking for
water, but they have to go lower. He's brought berries. They argue
about who'll taste them (he's worried that she'll get dysentery, she that
he wouldn't be able to hunt for food and water.) She the berries as she
doesn't want "Model dies of starvation" as an obituary. After 45
minutes she says she won't get sick and Jason says that's great now that
all the berries are gone. Brenda is optimistic that they will find water.
Jason is pragmatic. She tells him they need hope. She makes a
deal, she will be optimistic and hope for the best and he can expect the
worst. Brenda hopes Jax is being careful. It begins to rain and they
discuss staying dry and collecting water in their shoes. Jason says Jax
will get bored with the search and Brenda says he won't. Jason wants
Brenda to talk so they can stay awake. They talk about Michael.
She finds it hard to believe Jason reads Michael adult stuff. She tells
about her own dad and how she was fat, etc. A plane flies high overhead
and they bicker. Jason reminds her of the deal, since her optimism
is wavering. Brenda tells Jason about fairy tales. He doesn't understand
the concept. He wonders about the pumpkin. "If I saw
someone wearing glass shoes, I'd think she was pretty special."
He talks about the glass breaking, and it not fitting anyone. Brenda
decides to try Rapunzel instead. Jason asks how Rapunzel could wash
her hair or go to the bathroom. Brenda gives up. He's hopeless.
Jason is still carrying Brenda. They decide to stop but they try to stay
awake. Brenda suggests thinking of more happy thoughts. Jason's idea
of a happy thought is, "If we fall asleep, we'll get
hypothermia and die." Brenda offers another fairy tale. Jason asks
"why do kids need to know about magic?", still not understanding
the benefits of listening to made up stories. "Michael is
magic..." Brenda offers, and explains that his appearance in
the world made everything change for Jason. "Love is magic
too," she adds. Brenda hasn't started a signal fire, so they're
both quite cold. In an effort to stay awake, Brenda tells Jason
about their trip to the prom (back when he was Jason Q) and how they
almost had some rebound sex after being simultaneously dumped by Jagger
and Karen. Jason, of course, doesn't remember, but is entertained by the
story as if it were another fairy tale. Brenda adds that Jason Q was
her friend in those days and tried to warn her about Sonny. Brenda says
Jason started to dislike her when she wore the wire. Jason agrees.
Brenda reasserts that she would've never used the wire to send Sonny to
jail, but after she found out that Sonny had been lying to her for over a
year, she didn't know who to trust anymore. She went to the police to find
the answers that Sonny refused to give her, and then wore the wire because
they told her that if she didn't, someone else would. It backfired and
resulted in Sonny losing trust in Brenda. Jason says that Sonny still
loved Brenda after she wore the wire, and that it was him (Jason) who
condemned her for it. "But he didn't trust me..."
said Brenda. Jason compares her experience with Sonny to his with the Q's.
Like Sonny lied to Brenda, they lied to him and he hated it. But Sonny
always told him the truth. Brenda says that the Organization will
destroy Jason someday and that it will all lead back to Sonny. Jason
disagrees, Sonny respected him and let him make his own decision.
"But the world he opened up to you is a world you can't take
Robin," Brenda counters, "is it worth it?"
Brenda and Jason talk about Robin and how she's afraid of Jason's life.
Jason finally understands how she feels, after being afraid when Michael
was kidnapped. He never wants Robin to have to feel that way again.
"You do love her," Brenda says. "I'll love her
forever," Jason replies. Brenda can relate to that
feeling when "someone comes into your life and makes you better than
you thought you could ever be... Jax did that for me." Brenda
worries about Jason and wonders if he'd do better on his own, without her
to burden him. She asks him to leave her behind.
DVD#9B Brenda wants Jason to get help, but he doesn't want to
leave her alone. Bren is convinced that Jax will save them.
She's ticked off that Jason is hovering over her--what, did Sonny tell him
to do that? She wants to know, once and for all, why did Sonny leave
her? Before Jason can answer, the sound of a helicopter above them
draws their attention. They scream and yell to alert it of their
presence. In the chopper, Jerry tells Jax that it's too dark to see
and they should be heading back. The chopper heads off and Bren and Jase
use this as an excuse to continue their Bickersons routine. Not one
to things go, Bren tells Jason she needs to know about Sonny's departure.
It's the only way she can go forward in her life. Once again Jason's
response is delayed, Jax's voice is calling for them. Jax and Brenda
embrace as he finds the two survivors.
Jason busts down the door and demand "Where's Michael?" He
grabs the child and takes him away as the Qs rejoice at his safe return
(except for Edward, grumbling about losing his great-grandson). Jason
bonds with his nephew and makes plans to fly to PR to attend a 'business'
meeting. Jason takes Carly's son to visit her. Carly tells Jason about how
great Bobbie was while he was gone and she slams the Q's for their
actions. Jason tells her about the judge he bought to help her and
he leaves with the baby for PR. Edward arrives. Carly spews her
frustration and dislike. Edward stays sweet and leaves.
Outside of Carly's room he calls his judge and tells him how
irrational and instable 'poor' Carly is acting practically paranoid. Robin
tells Brenda she wants to get back with Jason, if he wants her. She
is ready complete will birth control and disease protection. Robin doesn't
want to make all the decisions in their relationship any more.
Brenda is fairly supportive by worried. Robin goes to see Jason but he has
already left for PR.
Robin makes herself at home at jason's place, making small talk with
Graciella and carrying her purse full of safe sex materials into Jason's
bedroom. She wakes Jason, perches on the side of his bed and announces
that she loves him and always will. She apologizes for hurting him and
tells him she's ready to make love. Jason is startled. He warns her that
it won't be different. He's in the organization. She says she
knows, and accepts, his life. He tells her, "I never hoped for
this. I never thought it could happen." Then they begin to
kiss. After more kisses, Robin pulls out her purse. Jason is surprised
again, "You want to have sex?" Yes, she does if he does. They
discuss safe sex, and she reminds him that while she'll make intercourse
as safe for him as possible, there is no guarantee that there is no
possibility of transmitting the virus to him. It's a choice he must
make, and he does. There's more kissing and then a commercial,
during which they have sex.
Later, Jason tells her, "Id rather be away from you than hurt
you," he tells her. "This life is going to be hard. Guards
around all the time. You have to leave when I tell you to leave. You
can't ask questions. Brenda thought she could do it, but she drove
Sonny crazy. That's understandable because she was afraid all the
time." It's nice to hear Jason indicate some understanding of
Brenda's point of view. Jason and Robin looking quite the little family in
the penthouse, Robin is carrying Michael down the stairs, grinning.
There's a knock at the door, Jason answers, and is dumbfounded, It's
Sonny, looking drop-dead gorgeous.
Sonny's back, with a mustache and goatee! He hugs Robin and meets
baby Michael. Robin and Jason catch him up to speed on all the
events he missed, and he almost blows his stack when he learns of Tony's
kidnapping escapade. Robin makes him promise not to try to get even.
Robin disappears to rustle up some eats while the big men talk bizaness.
Sonny tells Jason that their enemies are moving in on them. He tells them
both that he owns a casino now in warmer climes. Sonny also marvels at the
change in Jason, compared to his formerself, and Robin credits that to the
baby. When Jason takes the child upstairs, Robin fills Sonny in on a few
more things--like Brenda's nervous breakdown. Sonny reacts with disbelief
and guilt. Robin tells him that he must never go back to her--Sonny
swears that is not his intesnt. She tells him that Brenda is better now,
and that she's Malibu now with Jax. They're in love and happy at last.
Later, Jason tell Sonny how he's really Michael's father , even though he
had nothing to do with the conception.Sonny says even more reason to take
care--their enemy, Carlos, plans to move against them. Jason swears that
he told Brenda nothing about Sonny's reasons for deserting her, despite
her repeated questions. Good, Sonny answers, it's over. Jerry
once again meets up with the Mystery Guy, who in an amazing co-incidence,
turns out to be none other than Carlos, the very same bad guy that Sonny
and Jason were just discussing. Carlos mumbles some more threats as Jerry
makes more vague promises.
Bobbie visits Carly, but makes it clear that she's in a bad mood.
Carly presents her with a macrame key-chain she made for Lucas in OT.
Bobbie softens and they hug. Carly hands her mom a tissue and tells
her there's plenty more where that came from. She realizes that it's BJ's
anniversary, and just wanted to offer a shoulder to lean on and a
sympathetic ear. Bobbie responds gratefully. As horrible as it
was to lose both her daughters, she is glad to have found one of them
again. Jason brings Michael to see Carly and she's been a bit down since
her visit with Bobbie. Just as they were getting close she was told
visiting time was up. Jason rambles on about not expecting anything and
then you just get everything you ever wanted and Carly's a bit confused as
to where this is all coming from. He tells her that Robin has come back to
him and he loves her. Carly tries to bad mouth Robin but he lets her know
it's not going to work. She's afraid Robin is going to make him hate her.
He swears that will not happen. Carly is worried that Jason and Robin will
get serious and even get married. Jason says right now he is concerned
with getting her out of the hospital.
Bobbie pays a visit to Carly. Her daughter dispenses with small talk and
asks her straight out if she'd still be willing to take custody of
Michael. Bobbie was surprised, to put it lightly, and understanding when
Carly laid out all of her reasons for being upset about Jason's living
arrangement, but basically told Carly she was nuts, that the baby couldn't
be in safer hands. This gets Carly to put her real cards on the table -
her insecurity and jealousy about Robin in Jason's life. Bobbie attempts
to straighten her out about what she did and didn't have a right to expect
from Jason, and Carly at least appears to listen. Jason and Michael visit
Carly at the hospital. Carly asks how Jason and Robin are doing and
mentions to Jason that she could let Bobbie take care of Michael if he is
a problem for Robin and Jason. Jason tells her that he loves having
Michael around and Carly then expresses her concern that Michael will
begin to think that Robin is his mother since she is away. Jason tells her
that Michael knows she is his mother and Carly starts to gripe to Jason
about how she is locked away while Robin is taking care of her son and
Jason tells her not to worry that everything will be okay.
Jason is reading to Michael from a travel book on Italy when Bobbie comes
to visit. Bobbie, knowing of Carly's fears about being replaced by
Robin in her son's heart, gently reminds Jason that Carly is Michael's
mother. Jason assures her that he is doing everything to keep Carly alive
for Michael. He won't let him forget her. Bobby thinks it's
time Jason start planning for the future and thinking about problems that
may arise once Carly is freed. Bobby knows that Carly has developed
feelings for Jason beyond their friendship, and she tells him so.
Carly wants with him what he has with Robin. It's clear this hasn't
occurred to Jason! Jason explains that all he and Carly do is fight when
they have sex and he doesn't want Michael exposed to that. He will stand
by the deal they made when Carly showed up at his door asking for help.
(Bobby seems a little puzzled at how Jason put this.) His
relationship with Robin won't change that. Jason seems to
think that when Carly is released she'll just move in with him and Robin
but Bobby explains that it's highly unlikely that the arragement will
work, for anyone! Jason observes, why not there is plenty of room? Bobby
tells him perhaps for two bodies, but not for two hearts. Bobby knows
someone will end up being hurt and she thinks that someone is Robin. He's
not going to be able to have Robin, Carly and Michael all living in the
house with everyone living happily ever after. Robin's attachment to
Michael is growing everyday and there won't be a simple solution when
Carly comes home. She tells him to start thinking about it. Robin returns
home. Jason is deep in thought. He has been thinking about
what Bobbie has said. But Robin doesn't want to worry about the future.
She wants to wait and see what life brings them this time.
Jason is talking to Justus. Justus is to slow the dock renovations. Carly,
he tells Justus, is going nuts out at the asylum. Robin comes in. Jason
asks about Katherine's memorial service. They plan to take Michael
to the park. Robin goes up to get Michael's bag ready. Sonny calls. He
wants to see Jason before the "storm front", Carlos, moves in.
Jason tells Robin he's going out on business. She knows Sonny
called. He'll take Michael, because that way he knows the baby will be
safe from the Quartermaines and Dr. Jones. Jason says goodbye to Robin.
She wants Jason back for the Nurse's Ball, as she has a number to perform.
Jason and Michael go to see Carly who panics that this means they'll never
come by again. He tells her they're leaving. She asks if Robin
is going. She agrees that Michael should go with Jason. Carly is
really going stir-crazy. Jason reminds her that she has to wait.
Sonny's Angels (Lenore, Cindy, Maria) babysit Michael while Jason calls
Carly. He assures Carly that Michael's fine, and she assures him that his
assurances are unnecessary, she trusts him. Sonny tells Jason that Carlos
loaned out a lot of money six months ago, and now he's in the process of
tracing it to the borrower. Maria is taking Jason and Michael's picture.
Jason wants to send it to Carly to further assure her they're okay. Sonny
enters and they talk about the Q's and Carly's fear that they might try to
take Michael away again. "Do you like her?" Sonny
asks. "Most of the time," he replies, but also
states that he loves Robin. "You're in love with one woman and
have a child with another," Sonny declares, "Pretty crazy
situation, not just for you but for the kid."
At te Outback, Brenda squeals at Robin and waxes rhapsodic about her trip
with Jax. Robin asks about Sonny and Brenda announces that the situation
is resolved. AJ walks in looking for Jason. Robin tells him
Jason left town for a while and brought Michael with him. AJ
reiterates that his family's various kidnapping attempts were wrong and
"the baby belongs with his father." He asks if Carly would
know, and then immediately apologizes for bringing up Jason's former
nookie partner. Robin says no apologies are necessary, as she's
Jason's nookie recipient now. "And Carly?" AJ asks.
"Everyone's trying to do what's best for Michael" Robin
replies, cryptically.
AJ visits Carly, and Carly is wary of his motives. AJ assures her
he's here to support her because he heard Jason and Robin were back
together again and Michael was out of town. "I may be in an
institution, AJ, but I'm not crazy," Carly says, "You
hated me ever since I drugged you. Can we at least be honest about
that?"
"I'll admit I'll never forget what you
did," AJ replies, "but I've had to ask a lot of people to
forgive me, so I guess I can do the same for you."
"Right. We should go fishing
sometime," Carly banters. Carly softens and says that her life
is pretty miserable. AJ is sorry, he knows what it's like to hit
rock bottom. He eventually gets around to discussing his ulterior motive.
Where's Jason? Carly asks him why he needs to know. AJ says there's
trouble with the unions again. Carly hopes it isn't serious, but
says that she can't tell AJ where Jason is.
"Instructions," she adds. AJ asks if she'd at least
call Jason for him. Carly says that she promised him she wouldn't
call him. "I understand," AJ says, "Once you
start breaking promises, it's difficult to get people to trust you
again." They exchange weighted pleasantries and AJ leaves.
Sonny continues, "When you have a child with someone, it's a lifelong
commitment." "I can't stop being Michael's father anymore
than I can stop loving Robin," says Jason. "You're
in a helluva mess," says Sonny, and goes on to wonder why Jason
allowed Carly to lie about the baby's paternity in the first place.
Jason responds in rather Vulcan tones that it seemed like the right thing
to do at the time. He goes on to explain that Robin was in Paris,
Sonny was gone, and that his life had become a little too uncluttered
and ordered. He lived in one room at the penthouse, leaving the rest
untouched, and the majority of his life was driven solely by the rigors of
his job. Carly and Michael added a dimension that wasn't there before, and
he liked it.
Their conversation turns back to Sonny, who wistfully tells Jason that
this was his dream: to live in a house by an ocean and to have the
pick of any woman he wanted. "I make it..." he says,
"except for the woman part... and it's my own damn fault. It's
a good life," he adds, "but I'm still waiting to enjoy it."
"You hate it here," Jason observes.
"No, sometimes," says Sonny.
"Then come back," advises Jason,
and adds that Brenda's out of danger now that they're no longer an item.
Sonny says Jason can't give up his position now. It'd cost him his
respect, which he worked hard to earn. Jason insists that it
wouldn't matter. Sonny plays his trump card: "I'd want
her back," he says, and insists that it's impossible for him to
live in the same city as Brenda. They'd just fall back into old
patterns and destroy each other. Sonny receives a phone call: it's
his informant about the loan. Jerry Jax was the one who borrowed the money
from Carlos.
Robin stops by to see Monica at her request. She is worried about Emily
who doesn't seem to be dealing with the anniversary of her mother, Paige's
death. She came home with crimped hair and a belly ring! Monica can't seem
to get through to her to find an interest for Emily and wonders if Robin
can spend some time with her and maybe help her figure something out.
Robin agrees, and very quickly invites Emily to go to New York to Brenda's
next photo shoot. Emily is thrilled with the invite. While there, Robin
lets slip that Jason has taken Michael out of the country and Edward hits
the roof. Brenda has brought Robin and Emily to a photoshoot in New York
City. Brenda thinks it would be cool to make Emily up, and then she
suggests the photographer shoot some shots. Emily is embarrassed,
but loves it.
Bobbie goes to see Carly and their visit starts out friendly enough.
Bobbie finds out Jason and Michael are gone. She'd been talking to Jason
about Carly and Robin. Carly blows up. "Haven't you done enough
to ruin my life?" Bobbie gives her a weird look and says she's
overreacting. Carly is worried about losing Jason. Bobbie says Carly is
repeating her same scenario, using a little boy both times. Carly
says "You're never going to be in my corner." Bobbie says
she can't be played like Virginia Benson. Bobbie has made mistakes
but she doesn't go around repeating the same ones. "Look Bobbie, if
you ever say anything more to Jason about this you will never see Michael
again."
AJ tries to plant seeds of doubt in Carly's mind about Jason. AJ visits
Carly in the nut house and pushes all her insecurity buttons. He's been
thinking, and isn't sure he would still oppose his family's efforts to
take Michael from Jason, since Jason is irresponsible in taking the child
out of the country on mob business. He points out there is also the
matter of Jason being back together with Robin. Doesn't that bother
Carly? It should, he implies. Carly's response? To his face,
she isn't buying, and repeats her steadfast "I will always trust
Jason" mantra, assuring him his family will never succeed in driving
a wedge between her and Jason. Once he's gone, she's clearly upset.
Later, we see Carly alone in her room. She's standing in front of the
mirror, talking to a doctor who isn't there. Then she begins to croon,
"I'm gonna see my baby, I'm gonna see my baby," in a decidely
spooky fashion. Is she cracked? Or just practicing acting
cracked? An anxious Carly sought reassurance from Robin about Jason,
but Robin had very little information about Jason's whereabouts. A
frustrated Carly then insulted Robin, who did not want to waste her
time arguing with Carly. Robin later compared notes with Brenda
about being "married to the mob." Carly met with a doctor
and laid out what was on her mind, regarding her relationship with Jason
and Michael.
Robin comes into see Mac at the PCPD. Mac wants her at their table for the
Nurses' Ball. She tells him she'll be sitting with Jason. Mac
wonders if he'll be back, but Robin assures him Jason will be. She tells
him she's back with Jason, Mac looks like he has been punched in the
stomach. Robin defends her choice. Felicia comes in and defends Mac who
has gone totally bonkers. St. Robin tells Felicia she's worried
about Jason. Felicia leaves and Robin tells Mac she can't go back to
college, she's happy! Felicia returns to defend Robin.
6/19/98 - At the Q's: Edward's in his usual bluster, complaining that
they'll be late, and worrying over his upcoming number with Emily.
Alan and Monica appear, with Alan looking slightly dazed (as usual). We
then go into a musical montage, showing off the various outfits the
Ball-goers will be wearing. The song is "Celebration" by Kool
and the Gang. The couples we see are Brenda and Jax, Lucky and Liz,
Justus and Robin, Taggert and Dara, Nik and Alexis, Mac, Felicia and
Georgie, and then a solo Luke and Jerry. At the Ball: Lucy makes her
opening speech, as Brenda asks Robin about Jason. Robin appears worried
about the fact that he isn't there. Back to the speech, Lucy says
the theme for this year's ball is 'hope'. It's a celebration of
everything they've achieved, yet they need to remain mindful of all the
work that still needs to be done.
Lucy introduces the first act: Jailhouse Rock starring Dara,
Taggert, Lucky and Liz. It's a cute role reversal with Dara and
Marcus playing the inmates and Lucky and Liz playing the cops. After
they're through, Lucy aknowleges the sponsor, but first gives a tribute to
Katherine Bell, whom this evening is dedicated to. Just as she
mentions Stefan Cassadine's name as the sole sponsor for the event, Stefan
appears at Nik's side. Lucy then talks a little 'ball business'.
Alan is popping the SuperPotent pills. AJ sees him and asks if he's
okay. Apparently the Alan Q Cover-story of the Day is: Alan
has the flu. Lucy introduces Alan and Robin as Doctor and HIV patient
performing "Someone to Watch Over Me". Alan appears
distracted and then starts to falter. He misses a dance cue and
Robin falls. Alan stops singing and blames Robin for the misstep.
He continues to fail, and then blames the band and leaves the stage.
Robin is mortified until Ned picks up where Alan left off and they finish
the number. Emily overhears Robin and Nikolas talking about Alan, and what
a disgrace it was to have him show up drunk at the ball.
Kevin introduces the next number, "Big Spender" with Brenda,
Karen, Lucy and Dara. At the end of their number, the women hold out
their hats and Sonny walks in, with Jason in tow. Karen, Jax and Mac
take turns glaring at Sonny while Robin embraces him and Jason. Sonny sits
at Jason's table with Jason and Robin. Jason asks Robin how her song was.
She tells him that Alan missed a few lines and Ned stepped in to help her
finish the song. They both tell her that they are sorry that they
missed her performance; she's just glad that they made it to
the ball and that she gets to see Sonny again. Luke welcomes Sonny back
and tells him that Jason has been doing a great job as Sonny's
replacement. Luke asks him if he is staying a while. Sonny tells him
he is not.
Lucy asks everyone to be seated and tells them that the show must go on,
with or without electricity. She tells the audience that candlelight is
more appropriate for the next part of the program, the reading of witness
statements. She likens the candlelight to people that one candle by itself
give off a little light, but a whole group of candles can light up a whole
room. That collectively, we can find a cure for AIDS/HIV. Then several
people read witness statements: Edward, Bobbie, Jax, Ellen, Audrey,
Nikolas, Monica and finally Robin. Lucy introduces the next act in the
program, Ned and Emily. She tells the audience that the song was first
performed for Stone Cates. Ned and Emily sing “Power to
Believe”. Lucy tells everyone that even though Stone is gone, he still
touches many people's lives. She announces the new Stone Cates
Memorial AIDS Wing, donated by Sonny. The next musical number is “Thank
Heaven for Little Girls” performed by Scott (with Serena and Karen),
Edward (with Emily) and Mac (with Robin and Maxie). This number
segues into the next one, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”. This time
it is Robin and Emily (singing “lead vocals”), accompanied by
Maxie, Karen and Serena. Mac, Edward and Scott are standing off to the
side of the stage, watching their “girls” proudly. Then the girls
bring the men on stage and dress them up in hats and feather boas as they
finish the song.
As Lucy is about to announce the next part of the program, Tony comes on
stage and shocks everyone by says: “Thank heaven for hypocrites!” Lucy
pleads with Tony to get off the stage, but he takes the microphone from
her. He berates them all for coming to the NB only for show, all dressed
up and looking like concerned citizens for one night, in order to appease
their consciences. He then verbally attacks Jax for the strike, for being
a corporate raider, etc. Next in the line of Tony's fire is Edward, Alan
and the rest of the Qs, he calls them dysfunctional blackmailers,
among other things. Next is Stefan, then Sonny and Jason, of course. He
calls them big spenders, stating that they financed their table at the
ball with a little help from their “illegal” activities. He also
remarks that Jason would have trouble counting to ten, even if
you spot him 1 through 9, Tony claims that these above mentioned criminals
are trying to purchase respectability, while everyone just blindly
applauds their efforts. After listening to his tirade, Robin finally
speaks up and tells Tony to sit down and, as far as Jason is
concerned, he came to the NB because he loves her, not to win anybody's
respect. Robin tries to make Tony understand that they are all there at
the NB for a common goal, to help fight AIDS. Then she tells him to
take his hatred and leave. Tony steps off the stage and heads for
the door, but not before he gives Bobbie some grief about not being
able to see Lucas. Jerry suggests that he keep on walking and Tony
comments to Bobbie that it didn't take her long to hook up with someone
new. Then he gives her the final blow: he tells Jerry that when he gets
tired of Bobbie to “try” Carly and smirks that there is a “talent”
that runs in their family. Jerry punches in Tony the face.
Jason comes outside with Robin just then and breaks up an impending fight
between Lucky and NIk. Jason asks Em how she is and then tells Lucky that
this isn't the place to fight with Nik. Robin thanks Jason for
coming to the NB, for staying despite Tony's ranting and raving and
lastly, for stopping the fight. She laughs that when she invited him, she
didn't thin he would have to do crowd control. Jason thanks Robin for
defending him and Sonny to Tony. Mike comes over to them and asks
Jason if he was with Sonny the entire time he was gone. He wants to know
if Sonny asked about him. Jason tells him Sonny did ask and that he told
him that Mike missed him. Robin tells Jason that Sonny really hurt Mike,
especially because Mike can't even know where Sonny is. Taggert walks
toward them and starts making snide remarks to Jason, calling him “anger
boy” , “Quarter-brain”, etc. Taggert wonders if Jason has been
demoted to “messenger boy” now that “Mack Daddy Sonny” has
returned to PC. Unfortunately for Taggert, Dara overhears his
remarks about Jason and warns him that he shouldn't be harassing him.
Taggert tells Dara that they are on a moonlit terrace and all she can
think about is business. He tells her that she is badly in need of a
distraction and tries to kiss her, then reconsiders. He tells her he
doesn't want to be accused of harassment twice in one night. Dara is left
standing there alone.
Robin and Jason are at their spot, the bridge, and he apologizes for not
being back in time. He knows she must have been worried. She was but knew
everything would be okay. Robin tells him about the time she was in Paris
and all she could do was think of being with him. These two are so happy
and after he kisses her she is practically speechless. Robin tells Jason
he is not like Sonny who loves to come in making his grand entrance. He
loves power and manipulating people where as Jason is not about that.
Jason & Robin walk in and Jax tells her to be careful of these people,
she will get hurt. After he leaves, Sonny tells Robin she could be hurt
and wants her to know what's going on and why he is back. Robin tells
Sonny she doesn't need to know his business unless she is able to help him
in some way. She wants to stay at the penthouse with Jason because she
loves him and does not want to be apart from him. She knows they will
protect her. Robin lets Sonny he is not evil or bad, they just see things
differently but she knows he is a good person.
Jason went back to visit Carly. Jason claimed to have found a
friendly judge and she was pretty stoked to see them, until she found out
Jason'd been back for a full day, but chose to squire Robin to the Nurses'
Ball before reuniting mother and child. Jason side-stepped an argument,
Carly swallowed one, and he left. Jason showed up, Taggert taunted him and
then Tony showed his face, which led Jason to remind the ex-doctor that he
was only alive because Robin wished it so. Jason also threatened Tony with
an "accident."
Sonny, Robin, and Jason are walking on the docks. They encounter a couple
kissing on a bench, who turn out to be Dr. Joe Scanlon, a doctor from PC
and his girlfriend, Karen, also a PC doctor but once a stripper at Sonny's
club. Sonny recognizes "Kari" and speaks to her. Joe is
bristling, he knows who Sonny is and he wants him far away from Karen.
He lashes out at Sonny, asks Robin is she strips for him, too. That
makes Sonny mad and he tells Joe to back off. Joe doesn't, when he
lunges at Sonny, Jason steps in between them. Jason reaches into his
jacket to get his gun, saying," Back off or your surgical career will
be over real fast, doctor." Sonny feels Joe may be jumping to
conclusions. "it's her life. How do you know that I wrecked it?
Jason interjects that Karen should not blame Sonny for her choices. She
counters, "He's done it to you, too." She reminds Jason of
who he used to be, Jason Q, the boy she knew, and how odd she feels when
she hears talk of who he is now-- a man who carries a gun. Whoever
Jason is now, she says, Sonny taught him to be. He didn't wake up
wanting to carry a gun. She says Sonny "helped" Jason the
same way he "helped" her and Stone, that Sonny "helped you
become a criminal," and says the difference between her life
and Jason's is "you don't have anyone to help pull you out."
While she and Jason face each other, Robin watches, uncomfortable. Then
Karen turns to Robin and asks how she can stay loyal to Sonny and pretend
he never did the things she knows he did to Karen and to Brenda.
Robin says Sonny is good because he watched Stone die, and that had to
change a person. "I don't say he's perfect, I don't even say
he's right. But I love him, and I am not going to apologize for
that. He shouldn't have seduced you. But it's over, and it's been
over for a long time, and maybe it's time for you to let it go."
Karen says she thought she had let it go, until tonight, but disagrees
with Robin's diagnosis that Sonny has changed. "Sonny has not
changed, or he wuld not have done what he's done to Jason." Jason
steps in again, says he's made his own choices. "Don't speak
for me. I chose to what what I wanted to do. Sonny is not in charge of my
life, and he wasn't in charge of yours, either." Joe decides this is
enough, and tries to get Karen to leave. She wants a final word with
Sonny. She admits she was responsible for her own choices. Still,
she says, "I never understood how you could be so good and so
terrible at the same time." Sonny apologizes, sort of.
"The only conscience I have was given to me by other people, "
he explains. "My mom gave me some, Robin and Stone..." Karen is
apparently moved by that, and makes an abrupt shift in attitude. She
seems to be saying they need to start fresh, so she introduces herself all
over again. "I'm a doctor now. This is Joe, my
boyfriend." She wishes Sonny luck, they part with smiles, although
Joe stilll seems upset. Sonny is quiet after having confronted his past.
