Just Jason #5  July 3 - October 2, 1997 - 8 hours

At the precinct house, Ned tries to intervene when an irked Taggert arrests Jason for helping Sonny elude his police guard.  Ned asks Jason if he can get out of this, what is the evidence? Ned knows it's impossible that the evidence is the bloody scalpel. Ned asks Jason where Sonny and Brenda are. Jason says nothing. Ned leaves. Officer Rick watches Taggart threaten Jason. In the interrogation room, Taggart interrogates Jason while Jason smarts off.  Garcia then questions Jason and also gets no response. Jason points out that Garcia doesn't like Taggart. Jason mentions Lily and wants to know why Garcia hates Sonny. Garcia can't believe how Jason has changed, and proceeds to arrest him.

Robin returns home and there are hugs all around. Robin presses Mac for information about the missing Jason, Mac plays dumb. Mac is upset that Jason told Robin about Brenda's arrest and escape. Mac finally tells Robin that Jason is in jail.  Alarmed to learn that Jason has been arrested, Robin asks Mac for help getting him out of jail. Taggert has dropped by to visit and he tells Jason that he'll get fed when he tells Taggert what he wants to know. Taggert tries to push Jason's buttons for the but it still doesn't work. Taggert gets an anonymous phone call which tells him where Brenda is and he runs off to collar her. Later, Robin arrives and they share a tender moment through the bars. Mac arrives and announces that Valentine and Justus have secured Jason's release.

Jason tells Mac how he found a small piece of origami shortly after he saw a strange man threatening Dorman in the halls of GH.  Working from Jason's description, Kevin sketches an accurate portrait of the "Tin Man". Later, A.J. quietly admits to his brother that he recognized the Tin Man from his drinking days at the Zebra Lounge.  Robin suddenly is overcome with an ominous feeling of dread as Jason leaves on a secret mission, on the trail of the Tin Man.

At the Outback, Mac asks Robin what Jason's up to. He reminds her that Jason is a gangster.  The Tin Man  looks in his case, taking out a stick of gum. Jason comes in to the Zebra Lounge looking for the Tin Man, who is right behind him. The bartender tells Jason to leave. By that time, the T.M. has gone, leaving a matchbook from a bar in Tiger Key, and his trademark origami bird. Then we see the Tin Man aiming a rifle at Jason on the phone to Sonny. Jason tells Sonny about Tiger Key and Sonny warns Jason not to go back into the bar.

As Jason phones in a report to Sonny from outside the Zebra Lounge, an unseen assailant takes aim with a high-powered rifle. Unable to get a clear shot, the Tin Man is forced to abandon the assassination attempt when Jason moves out of range once again. Robin is immensely relieved when Jason returns safe and sound from his secret mission. Jason outlines his plans to find out who framed Brenda and prove it. Robin and Jason play around imagining the future, while outside, the Tin Man lurks hoping to cut that future short. Robin tries to teach Jason to dance. As they cavort around, a bullet shatters the window but apparantly misses; however, a second one is targeted right at Jason. Robin and Jason Robin, on the floor, calls out to Jason. He tells her to stay where she is and asks if Mac has a gun? Maybe at his office, Robin answers, but not here at home. Jason stands near the window. He looks out. "I can't see anything. I think it's clear." Robin puts her hand to her mouth as she sees the gunshot wound on Jason's abdomen. She huddles on the sofa and Jason says, "You're bleeding. Are you all right?"
"Jason, your stomach!" she cries. He tells her to call 911. She does and asks them to send police. Then she crawls over to him, "We've got to stop the bleeding!" "It hurts." Jason reaches for her. "Don't touch me!" she cries, remembering her HIV+ status. "You have an open wound, you can't touch me." She presses a sofa pillow to his wound and cries out when she sees how bad it is. "Who did this to you?" Jason mutters "The Tin Man."

Robin hurries in behind Jason, carried in on a stretcher. Mac grabs her--what happened, did she see who shot them? Robin answers that she saw nothing--she tired to help Jason, but she couldn't get her blood on him. "I couldn't touch him, Uncle Mac," she weeps. Mac hugs her. "He can't die now," she cries. "we were just making plans for the future." Mac leads her to a chair. She needs to tell him what happened, while it's still fresh. She recounts the evening, culminating in the gunshot, the shattered vase, and Jason pushing her to the floor. "It sounds like he saved your life."
"He did." Robin then tells her uncle that Jason said the Tin Man shot him. MIke tries to comfort her as Ned, Alan and Monica hustle in. No one knows what Jason's condition is. The Qs are shocked to learn that the shooting happened in Mac's living room, and that Jason was an intended victim. A doctor comes out and tells them that while the bullet missed any vital organs, that there is heavy internal bleeding. Does anyone know who shot him? Ned wonders. "Some hood," Alan spits out. "Some hoodlum like sonny Corinthos. He's been a blight on this city even since he arrived here. He's literally contaminated my son and now he's nearly killed him."
"Listen Doc," MIke puts in "I know you're upset, but Sonny would give his life for Jason."
"He has used Jason to his advantage, just as he has used everyone who's ever crossed his path. If Jason dies, it will be just as if Sonny pulled the trigger." Mike explodes. "How dare you, you self-righteous--"
"Stop it!" Robin screams. "Sonny didn't do anything to Jason. He chose it, he chose that life."
"What are you talking about?" Alan demands. "He doesn't have a choice, he's impaired. Sonny used that to his advantage."
"Well, maybe that's not what you would choose for Jason. But in spite of anything he's done, Sonny is the best person I know."
"He has never lied, not even to help himself."

The doctor enters the room with news of Jason. Everything goes slo-mo as Robin moves toward him, eyes wide with apprehension. Robin weeps in relief as the surgeon reports that Jason is back in stable condition and should recover fully. Arriving at the hospital to check on his brother after hearing a news report, adistraught A.J. accepts a consoling hug from Carly. Mike tells Robin he's almost glad Sonny is on the run because he won't hear about Jason being shot. Meanwhile, Sonny begins to wonder why his protege hasn't checked in on schedule. Jason finally regains consciousness as Robin clings to his hand. When Jason attempts to get out of his hospital bed, Robin informs Jason she's determined to protect him from any future trauma. Jason becomes agitated and insists that he needs to speak to Sonny. Robin answers Jason's cell phone when Sonny calls, worried after not having heard from him. She tells him about Jason being shot. Brenda panics. Sonny tells Robin to stck to Mac like glue and tell Jason not to leave the hospital. "Tell Jason the Tin Man job is no longer his."

Carly goes to see Jason. When he asks for water, she gives him some, and he starts to choke. She runs for help and a nurse comes in. Later, Robin asks Jason if he's mad that she told Sonny. Jason wants to know what Sonny said. She tells him the Tin Man is not his job any more. Jason is worried. He tries to call Sonny, but he can't get through. Mac comes in. He finds out about Tiger Key, but Jason won't tell him anything because he doesn't know anything.

When Emily gets to see Jason alone, he tries to get up and asks for her help in leaving the hospital. He falls down, ripping some sutures. Emily sees the blood and freaks out when she has flashbacks of the death of Dr Dorman, "It's happening again!" He tries to tell her he's all right. Robin comes in, and they get him back to bed. Robin tries to reason with him about staying in the hospital but he's worried about Sonny. He grouses about staying in bed but Robin gets him to promise to stay until he's recovered. Robin and Bobbie talk. Robin tells her that she's scared as she never thought about Jason dying before. She can't even share her fears with him as it's not "part of their deal". Bobbie confides that she once loved a man in the same line of work as Jason (Roy DeLuca). She just took it one day at a time. She tells Robin to talk to Jason, ask questions, get information and then she can make an informed decision.

Jason is transferred out of the ICU and into a private room. Robin and Jason discuss hospital stays. Jason makes Robin cry when he says that the pain of the shooting is nothing compared to the pain he felt all year when she was gone. He is so happy that she is home for the summer. Jason promises Robin to always be careful and she is happy. They talk all about the Q's and what happened last year, (bringing the motercycle in living room etc.) Jason believes that the Q's would have put him in an institution if he hadn't left. Joseph calls and says he has found the dry cleaner. Still hoping to somehow pry Jason away from Sonny's influence, Alan can't resist the urge to remind his wounded son that the next bullet may be the one which kills him.

Robin reveals that she's been accepted at the Sorbonne but tells Katherine she's decided not to go because she's sure Jason won't leave the
country if he believes Sonny is still in danger. Jason asks Monica why he heard her saying that his shooting was all her fault. As a wary Ned looks on, Monica claims she was simply reacting the way most mothers do when their child is hurt. Later, both Ned and Monica shift uneasily as Jason wonders aloud why Emily freaked out when she found him bleeding on the floor of the ICU.

AJ visits with the still bedridden Jason. He tells Jason about Keesha getting drunk. Robin arrives to take AJ's place and ask Jason what he plans to do. Jason gripes about being helpless and the oppressively caring Quartermains. When Mac arrives, Jason immediately asks if he found Sonny? Mac questions Jason about Sonny. Monica arrives with a note from Emily. Jason tells Monica he is sure Emily is lying all the time and doesn't want to. Jason gives orders to find Jax and get him out of the way. Also, since they are being watched, he'll come to them. The doctor tells Jason he'll be in bed for 3-4 days then home for a long serious rest. After the doc leaves, Jason starts to dress, and Robin reacts sharply by throwing his trays and shouts, "I can't take this."Jason vents some of his anger on Robin before assuring her he won't disappear without saying goodbye.

Robin tears into Jason.  Why does he want to risk his life?  She grabs his face, "Do you understand that you almost died?" Jason understands.  He loves his life and does not want to die.  But he doesn't want Sonny to die, either.  Robin doesn't understand how he can help Sonny with a hole in his side.  "You've got to quit.  Stop working for Sonny. Please."
Jason is stunned.  "No,  I can't get out.  Ever.  I know too much.  I've done things you don't even know about."
"Sonny could help you.  He would do it if you asked, If I asked." Jason tells her no.  Even if he could get out, he doesn't want to.  He goes into a riff on how important his
job is.  He's good at it.  Why shouldn't he do something he's good at? "Because it can get you killed," she answers, tears streaming.  "And I can't stand seeing one more person I love die." She talks about all the people she's lost in her life. Despite all of this, Jason tells her that this is the life he wants, the one he chose.  "What if it's not what I want?"  Robin asks.

Mac comes in with news of Sonny.  He and Brenda are probably holed up in Tiger Key, waiting for the Tin Man. Robin takes a wlak, and the two men speak privately.  Mac
wants to get some things straight with Jason. At one time, Mac would have loved Robin to fall in love with Jason, a rich, smart, genuinely nice guy. But the Jason  she fell in love with was violent, antisocial and worked for Sonny Corinthos.  Shows you to be careful what you wish for. But now Mac wants to bury the hatchet.  Jason says "But
I almost got her killed." Mac knows that, but he also knows Jason will not let that happen again.  And he can't go to Florida, he'd only be a liability to Sonny. Robin returns and Mac leaves.  Jason tells her "I would do anything for you, kill, or die, every single day for you.  But this job's a part of me and I can't give it up."
Robin answersl "Just once I wish you would lie."   She leaved the room.  Though she's just outside the door, they are a million miles apart.

Jason glowers at his visiting relatives after Tony refuses to sign him out of the hospital.  When her fugitive friends call to check on her, Robin tearfully begs Sonny to release Jason from his life of crime. Though Sonny explains why he can't just cut Jason loose from something as complex as the organization, Robin insists she will not be able to stand losing another love the way she lost Stone.

Sonny phones Jason, who warns his boss that Jax is on his trail. When Jason asks for his next set of instructions, Sonny informs the startled young man that he no longer has a job. Robin confides to Katherine how she's hoping the guy she loves will follow the straight and narrow path from now on. Hurt and confused, Jason demands to know why he's being let go. He's upset and furious. Sonny claims that worrying about his underling has become a distraction, Jason, furious, calls him a liar. Jason finally guesses that it was Robin who forced his hand. Robin comes into Jason's hospital room and Jason glares at her, "How could you!?"

Jason told Robin to call Sonny back.  He knew Sonny would do anything for her.  Robin claimed she told Sonny she was afraid for him, and Sonny only wanted him safe. Jason knew exactly what she said to Sonny to make him do this.  "We were closer than brothers, he was my father!" Jason said.  After the accident, she and Sonny were the only two people who made any sense to him.  Robin got upset when Jason put her on a pedestal, "I'm too damn little to be anyone's patron saint!" she declared. She  admitted that she had done it for herself, not for him.  She thought he was so ungrateful for all the things that he had, and his brain damage meant nothing to her.  She couldn't accept that the only thing he could do was work for Sonny; they could start over in a new place.  Jason insisted that he couldn't do that on his own, and then his life wouldn't be his.  The only place he could make happen what he wanted to happen was where Sonny was.  He told her that he was going to wait for Sonny to come back, make him admit he was wrong and take Jason back.  "Jason, if you do that, I won't be here," Robin told him.  They held hands and Robin said they would be okay.  "No, I won't," Jason said, his lip quivering.  She insisted he would be.  She reminded him that he made her love each day.  "Just promise me you won't get sick," he begged.  Jason admitted that this scared him, and they kissed.  "There will never come a day that I don't love you," Robin said, tears streaming down her face.  "There will never come a day that I won't feel lucky that something so wonderful could have happened."  She got up to leave, but Jason held onto her arm.  She pulled away from him and left in tears. Jason stayed alone in his hospital room, crying.

A.J. tried to cheer up Jason, but he was devastated because Robin left him.  A.J. assured him that whatever bad stuff was going on, their feelings for one another were still the same.  Jason disagreed.  "I still love her," he said. "Now it hurts." Meanwhile, Robin ran into Karen at GH and they took a moment to catch up.  Robin admitted that the thought of not having Jason in her life was the scariest thing that ever happened to her.  Karen confessed she was having her own problems with Jagger.  Robin ran into her Uncle Mac, who told her Jax was alive and well.  Later, Robin went to see Jason and said there was something she had to tell him.

#5B Robin tells Jason she's been accepted into a prestigious program at the Sorbonne in Paris. He was upset to hear she was leaving tomorrow.  Robin explained that Jason Q. had been to and loved Paris.  She brought up his coming with her, but he wondered: what could he do there?  He probably couldn't even get a Visa with his record.  She reminded him he could do whatever he wanted; he told her again that he chose this life.  "You don't have to go," he pleaded with her.  "Yeah, I do," she insisted.  He asked her to leave him the Eiffel Tower that Jason Q. had given to her, and she did.  She kissed him good-bye and left.  Robin went to see Katherine and told her about Paris.  Robin admitted she knew she had to leave Jason behind; she just wished that someone could tell her how

Robin came home and told Mac she was going to Paris tonight.  Mac thought it was a great opportunity but wondered about Jason.  Robin admitted that she didn't want to leave him but she didn't know what else to do.  She felt like she was running away and was worried about Sonny and Brenda.  Mac told her she couldn't put her life on hold, and promised to come visit her for Christmas in Pari!  Dara dropped by, and Robin said there was something she needed to do  alone.  Mac told Dara to spend some time finding the real killer and stop wasting it chasing Brenda and Sonny.  Dara admitted she was getting pressure from Garcia and Taggert.  He understood, but couldn't  help her out.

Robin arrived at the mansion and told Alan and Monica that she was leaving that night for Paris. When they asked about Jason, she explained they weren't together anymore.  Robin advised them not to try to change him; that was the only way they wouldn't lose him.  She wanted to be sure they would be there for him, and they promised they always would be.  Alan and Monica decided Jason needed company and headed to the hospital. Mike found Jason crying in his room.  Jason explained that Sonny had fired him and Robin left him, and the reasons why each happened.  Robin wanted him to be safe, but how could he have a life that wasn't his?  They couldn't be together.  Mike appealed to Jason that if he wasn't going to try to stop her, he should at least let her say good-bye.  Setting her free was the last thing she needed from him. Mike warned Jason not make the same mistakes he had (i.e., waiting for the right moment to say something important and never saying it) and left.  Jason slowly got himself out of bed and dressed when Monica and Alan showed up.  They tried to stop him, but Jason insisted there was somewhere he needed to be.  When they offered their help, he asked them to sign him out of the hospital.  Alan reluctantly agreed, and Jason thanked him.  Meanwhile, Robin stood alone on the bridge.

When Robin saw Jason at the bridge, she hugged him and admitted she wanted to stay with him forever.  He told her that he was okay without her, although he hated it.  He urged her to go to Paris and not worry about him.  He didn't want her to be like Brenda, pretending to be happy with Sonny's life.  Her future was important to her and she should have it.  Robin said she had faith that Jason had a future, too, and whatever it was, she would love him.  Jason confessed that he didn't know what love was until she told him she loved him.  He knew the best way to love her right now was to let her go.  They wished each other well: she hoped he found someone who didn't try to control him; he expected her to meet a nice guy in Paris, although he wouldn't like it.  Jason thought he might like a girl in the future, but he didn't see how he could love her.  "She wouldn't be you," he said.  "You made me."  He confessed he almost wished he didn't know what love was because it hurt too much to lose her.  "You're not losing me," Robin said.  "You can't."  He gave her the future, even if it was with someone else.  "We're a part of each other," she said.  He asked if he could hold her, and she hugged him.  He offered to drive her to the airport, but her uncle Mac was taking her.  She thanked him for coming, because now she knew she hadn't ruined everything between them.  "I didn't do anything," Jason said.  "You always say that and it's never true," she responded.  They kissed.

Jason was annoyed to find Alan waiting for him when he returned to his apartment.  Jason wanted him to leave, but Alan insisted on checking his pulse and incision first.  Jason reluctantly agreed, but later blew up at Alan for taking an HIV test on him while he was at the hospital without his permission.  Alan maintained he was his father and worried about him. Alan was relieved Jason was HIV negative, but upset when Jason seemed disappointed.  Jason shot back that Alan was disappointed because then Jason would have been his patient, someone he could control.  Jason told Alan yet again that he wasn't his lost son, and urged Alan to talk to A.J., who was his son.  Alan admitted that no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't bring himself to love A.J.; he only expected him to fail.  Alan referred to a biblical story about Jacob, who had two sons: he despised the first and loved the second.  Even after the accident, Alan considered Jason his pride, perfect and golden."  A.J. will never earn my love," Alan said.  "And no matter how hard you try, you can never destroy it."
"I can't help you," Jason said.  Alan left, sobbing in the hallway.  Later, Jason held the Eiffel Tower Robin had left him.

Monica sat alone in the park when Jason walked over.  She admitted she was thinking of leaving Alan.  Jason asked why she ever married him in the first place, and Monica was sure there must have been a reason.  She just forgot to write it down.  She remembered when Alan proposed and happier times with her two little boys.  She confessed to Jason that maybe she shouldn't be a wife and mother.  She was like him; she wasn't warm.  Jason wondered how she could talk about the people she supposedly loved,  like a weight around her neck.

After Carly had drugged AJ, Jason knocks on his door while Carly is getting ready to move AJ in the laundry basket but he was interrupted when Sonny called. (Carly's idea is to drug AJ, douse him with alcoholo and make him think he slipped so he will leave town for rehab as she doesn't want him to remember they slept together and figure out he might be the father of her baby, this storyline is covered on the Early Carly series). Sonny pleaded with Jason that Robin loved him, and he wanted to throw it away for this?  He painted an ugly picture of mob life, when enemies hurt the people you love.  "You screw up, she dies," Sonny said.  Jason insisted he chose this, and Sonny didn't have the right to tell him what to do.  "You're the one person who never treated me like I was damaged," Jason said, but maintained that Sonny wasn't responsible for him.  Jason said he would only continue to hurt Robin if he was with her.  "All the things I'm good at have no place in her life," he said.  Sonny reluctantly gave him orders and sent him on his way.

A.J. told Jason about his alcoholic slip, and Jason offered A.J. help if he needed it.  Jason arrived and Sonny and Brenda happily told them they were engaged. He congratulated them. Brenda went to make some phone calls, and Jason let Sonny know there was trouble.  There were people who moved in on his territory while he was away. Jason urged his boss to handle this now, before it got worse, but Sonny insisted that he wanted to keep things cool until after the wedding.

Jason interrupts Sonny to tell him that Francis and some balance sheets have gone missing from Albany. When Sonny asked Jason who screwed up, Jason responded honestly that Sonny did, because of Brenda.  He sent Jason off to take care of things. Sonny told Jason that he planned to leave the mob.  Sonny confessed that he loved Brenda so much he couldn't see straight, and that was going to get them both killed.  He explained how many mistakes he had made recently because the Tin Man got him to panic.  Jason asked, "What about you?"  Sonny said he would be happy because he would have the woman he loved and a brand new life.  It might not be the life he wanted, but it was better than being dead.  After the wedding, they would go on their honeymoon and never come back.  Sonny needed Jason to keep the organization running smoothly for a month.  When that was over, and people knew Sonny was out, Jason would have two options: to fight or run.  Sonny encouraged him to run and suggested joining Robin in Paris.  Jason insisted his problems with Robin were more than just the job, they were about who he was.  Sonny asked if Jason wanted to take over for him.  Although he knew it wouldn't be easy, Jason decided to fight for it.  Sonny asked him to do whatever he could to stay alive, and he said he would.

Sonny advised Jason on how to deal with his departure.  Neither realized the Tin Man was lurking around town with a gun.  Jason swore he would be ready when he needed to be; Sonny warned him to be subtle.  Sonny reminded Jason he would have to deal with the reactions of his family and friends as well.  Sonny arranged to meet with Mike and admitted to Jason that he had a few good-byes of his own to say.  Mike went to buy a wedding gift for Sonny and Brenda and was approached by the Tin Man.   The Tin Man made small talk with Mike for a couple of minutes and got Corbin's voice on tape.  Later, he played around with the tape until it said, "It's Mike.  I have to meet you."  Mike headed to the club to see Sonny.  Earlier, Sonny continued to give Jason advice on how to take over for him. Jason thought it didn't seem right that Sonny couldn't say good-bye to his father; Sonny said that was just the way it had to be.  Mike ran into Jason at the club and confessed how he was acting like a proud papa.  He had hit the great payoff: his son was finally happy, and he had the chance to have grandchildren.

Sonny told Jason that he understood now why Mike hadn't said good-bye when he left twenty-five years ago.  Somethings were just too hard to say, and you cant.  Sonny asked Jason to make sure Mike understood that he had to do it this way.  He also asked Jason to keep an eye on Mike for him, and even listen to his advice once in a while.  Sonny counseled Jason more on the right way to run things after he was gone. Later, a reflective Sonny headed to the dock where he thought about Jason, Robin, Luke and Brenda. Meanwhile, the Tin Man continued to fiddle around with the tape of Mikes voice until he got it to say, "It's Mike.  I have to meet you at the Outback."  He left this message on Jasons machine and loaded his gun.  Jason was puzzled by Mikes message and headed to the Outback.  At the docks, Sonny heard a noise.  He rushed to find his bodyguard Joseph lying on the ground with the Tin Man standing over his body.  "I'm not dead, Corinthos", he said glibly, but you are!

Joseph is trying to protect Sonny from the Tin Man. Sonny cradles Joseph, but TM tells Sonny that he's dead.  "If you're gonna kill me, do it!"  Sonny yells.  "Because one of us isn't leaving this place alive." Sonny dares the guy to shoot him.  TM promises Sonny he will suffer, Sonny and everyone he cares about will die. They struggle and TM punches Sonny out.  Then he kicks him sround some until Sonny's cell phone rings. It's Jason--where is Sonny? Sonny throws the phone into the water.  Jason recognizes the sound of water.  Mike comes into the Outback.  "Where's Sonny?"  he demands.  Mike is bewildered as Jason rushes past him. Back on the docks, Sonny and Tin Man struggle. A muffled shot goes off as they fight for the gun.  During the struggle for the gun, the weapon discharges, killing the TinMan instantly. Jason races to the docks and discovers a bloodied but unbowed Sonny mumbling a prayer over Joseph's lifeless form.  After cautioning Jason not to ruin Brenda's big day with news of Joseph's death.

In Sonny's apartment, his "date" with Brenda is interrupted by Jason, who says there is an emissary from another crime lord who wants to see Sonny.  Brenda goes upstairs.  Alone, Sonny and Jason have an emotional conversation about love, loyalty, friendship, etc.  The other mob guy, Davis Reese, shocks Sonny and Jason when he tells them that the mob knows all about Sonny's plan to disappear with his bride.  "There is no escape for you, Mr. Corinthos" he tells him.  He explains that Hernando Rivera took a contract out on Sonny's life and members of "the brotherhood" that Reese belongs have sworn to uphold that.  Reese is aware of Soony and Brenda's plan to escape after the wedding. Neither Sonny not his bride will ever be safe.  Jason pulls a gun on him and threatens to shoot him first.  Sonny tells him to let Reese go.  Once Reece gets the bum's rush, Jason and Sonny argue, Jason's sure he can keep his friend safe.  Sonny doesn't argree.

Sonny is talking to Jason, they have found Reese.  Sonny calls Reese, who says his friendly call to Brenda was merely a reminder.  Sonny tells him to walk away.  He's sending him to Hong Kong.  Sonny asks how Reese got Brenda's cell phone number. Jason says he's giving Sonny security for his wedding present.  Sonny agrees this is "a lot more useful than china."  Jason wants to go check out security, and he tells Sonny not to go out. Brenda has packed.  She wants to keep the wedding dress.  She still has the bracelet he gave her. Lucy calls wanting to know where Brenda is.  Sonny gives Brenda an ankle chain. Brenda leaves. They say goodbye. Jason comes in and sends Sonny up to change. Sonny sees a small flower and he has a vision of Brenda blowing up like Lily.

Sonny sits alone staring at his hands which he sees as blood stained.  When Jason arrives, he mutters, "Everything I touch." Sonny kvetches about the contract on him and on how Brenda may get killed because of him. Jason tries to reassure Sonny that he and Brenda will be safe, but Sonny paints a very grim picture of the future for Mrs. Corinthos. When Jason goes to call the wedding off, Sonny orders him to stop. Sonny tells Jason he's not marrying Brenda but will leave anyway to save Brenda.  Sonny's ace plan is that Jason should convince Brenda Sonny doesn't love her. He leaves.  Liz shows up at the wedding with Ruby's invite that she took. Lucky watches as the security guards question Liz.  He puts in a word for her and gets her in.

Brenda walks down the aisle to the tunes of the wedding march.  At the altar, she turns to look as someone enters the church.  But it  isn't her groom, but Jason who stands in the doorway. Brenda's face falls. "Is he hurt?"  she wants to know.  "He's fine," Jason answers.  But he's not here.  Tears form in Brenda's eyes as the truth begins to sink in. The guests look embarrassed and sad.  They file out of the church casting worried looks at Brenda.  "Just as well," Edward harrumphs to his son.
"This doesn't make sense," a worried Mike says to Lucy.
"Why?  Because your son is such a nice person?" Lucy chokes out through her tears. Mike insists there must be an explanation.  His eyes are moist too.  "Is he coming back?  Don't stand there like a stone!"  he shouts at Jason, standing there impasssively. Jason offers to take Brenda home.  She doesn't want to go home, she wants to get married.  She starts to leave.  "You won't find him," Jason tells her.
"I am so sick of your stone face!" she cries.  "I will not conduct my relationship with Sonny through you."
"You don't have one anymore.  That's what I'm here to tell you." Brenda hauls off and slaps him soundly.  She knows that he knows what happened. She's going to wait at the penthouse for Sonny, she doesn't care if it takes a month. Jason tells her she can wait til the day she dies but Sonny is never coming back. Brenda begs for an explanation. There must be a reason. Is Sonny in danger?  Is he waiting somewhere for her?  She wants Jason to tell her, exactly, what Sonny said. Jason answers, "He said to tell you it was a great ride."

Brenda asks Jason what she should do now?  In a really sad and painful scene to watch, she makes it clear that she would gladly crawl through broken glass for a chance to beg Sonny to take her back. Jason again says he'll take her home.  "Sonny is my home," the broken-down wreck replies.  She marshals enough nerve to tell him to go to hell, ordering Sonny's goons out of her way. She stands at the doorway, rain sluicing down.  "He always leaves me standing in the rain."  She collapses and Jason helps her to a nearby chair. Sonny watches as the church doors close, this is his last look at Brenda. Jason escorts Brenda to the hotel room at the Cosmopolitan.  He stands there staring at Brenda while she rants and falls apart. Then she kicks him out. Sonny sits pensively in the limo's back seat when Jason hopped in, handed him the tennis bracelet and gave him an update on his beloved, filling him in on the events of the wedding he missed. Sonny asks, "She hates me?"
Jason, "She hates me, too." Jason pledged to look out for Brenda's safety, then the conversation moved to this pair's separate futures. Sonny planned to head back to Puerto Rico, and Jason was busy closing up his employer's accounts.  Sonny more or less passed the torch, and gave Jason his final instructions: to tell the pilot he was ready to leave Port Charles.

At the Penthouse, Jason answers the door to find Mike there.  He wants to know where Sonny is?  Jason stonewalls, then leaves and Mike looks at pictures of Sonny and cries. Jason comes back.  Mike complains that they knew Sonny was disappearing when he brought the present.  They should have told him.  Jason says he isn't happy with what they did. Mike knows Sonny is not coming back. Jason tells Mike Sonny wanted to help him if his business gets in trouble. Mike gets mad, that's not why he wanted Sonny around.  He knows Sonny is not coming back.  Jason tells Mike Sonny loves him.  Mike says one afternoon is not enough.  "You tell him that his father needs to know where he is."

Jax lays into Jason when he finds him at the Quartermaine mansion and when he ignores his questions, Jax gets a rise out of him by claiming that Sonny will soon be with another woman while Jason is shot dead by a rival. Edward interrupts and orders them both to leave his house. Alone with Jason, Edward asks him to move back home now that Sonny's out of the picture but when he refuses, Edward again orders him to get out.
