Just Jason #3  September 12, 1996 - March 17, 1997 - 8 hrs

#3A  Jason sits with Luke and Sonny at Kelly's as they eat lunch while he waits for Robin to say goodbye to Mac. He can't believe Luke and Sonny eat rare roast beef, "It's still alive."  They ask how he is about Robin leaving, and while he's not happy about it, he's okay with it.  He tells them about the connection he and Robin have, "If it's strong enough, the distance won't matter, and if it's not, we'll always have what we've already had."  Luke thinks he's refreshingly straightforward, and Sonny comments that it was the accident that left him so unusually rational.

Robin and Mac discuss her good medical news, and how much she'll miss Uncle Mac.  He encourages, "Fly, Robin, just fly. You spread your wings and soar.  And don't let anyone or anything ever hold you down."  They hug, and there's a Mac and Robin flashback. Cute scenes as she first introduces herself to her new uncle back in 1991 (see the Robert & Anna series from that year for their earliest scenes together), Mac giving her a corsage for a dance, Robin crying at a funeral (her parents?), several scenes of Mac comforting her as she is sad, at a doctor's office, after Stone's death, at the Nurse's Ball, ect.

Jason comes to fetch Robin and there's the sad goodbye, it's obvious Kimberly is having a hard time saying goodbye to John J.  When they get to Yale and say goodbye both Robin and Jason cry. She doesn't think she'd have gotten there without him that he taught her to move on with her life after Stone. Jason goes to see Carly, she is surprised to see him so soon after Robin has left and gloats about how soon he came back to her. He tells her not to bother writing to Robin as he told Robin the truth. She can't believe that he would hurt Robin like that just so Carly wouldn't have power over him. He says he knows she would have told Robin sooner or later and he had to do it first.

She wants to know how Robin reacted? He asks if it would make her happy if Robin had cried? She says no that Robin was always nice to her and she never felt good about sleeping with Jason behind Robin's back. He asks her if she knew it was wrong why did she do it? This surprises her as he must have known it was wrong, and then realizing perhaps he didn't bluntly asks him if there is something wrong with him? He seems a bit offended and goes to leave. She asks if he hates her? He says no, he doesn't hate her. She wants to know if he even likes her? Did he ever like her? He admits he did in the beginning when they were playing pool and having sex. But he doesn't like people who lie to him and that is all she ever does. She promises not to lie to him anymore, that she is done lying to him. She says she is sorry and he says he is too and leaves.

AJ and Keesha come into Kelly's and run into Jason. AJ is thrilled, as it is Jason Quartermaine's birthday. Jason goes to leave but then decides to sit and have coffee with them for a bit. They talk about Robin going off to Yale briefly, Jason feels awkward and abruptly takes off. AJ tries to wish him a happy birthday but Jason tells him it isn't his birthday that he was born last January. AJ is disappointed but Keesha points out that Jason sat with them for a whole 30 seconds and that is an improvement. Next he goes to Jake where more presents are waiting for him. The bartender is curious that he isn't opening his gifts. He tells her to go ahead, the first present is a pair of black motorcycle gloves and she says very nice. Then she opens another box and says that they don't know him very well, it’s a blue sweater, and he gives it to her. He tells her that was for someone else.

Jason stops by the Outback and Mac fills her in on Felicia pressing charges against Kevin for stalking her. Mac asks Jason not to mention it to Robin and she agrees. Jason stops by Carly's to return the watch she wanted. He sees her packing and asks if she is going on vacation. She tells him she is moving on, dropping out of the nurse's program. She says she found something she always wanted and she can't have it and it hurts like hell. He suggests that she is running away. She says no, just moving away from the pain. She asks him what he would do if he can't have what he wanted and can't live without it? He asks her why does she think she can't have what she wants. He wishes her good luck and she returns the sentiment and looks sad as he leaves.

Jason comes in and tells Sonny that he did the business.  He passed Sonny's "no drugs in my territory" message onto some wanna be drug dealers.  Was this how he got the black eye? No, he got into a fight protecting Antoinette at Jake's.  Sonny tells him that beating up every lowlife in town won't bring Robin back.  Jason says, "It's an ache that doesn't go away. I can't eat, I can't sleep, I'm fighting too much."  He tells Sonny he went to the bridge once, but he won't go back as it is empty without Robin just like he is.

He continues that missing Robin is harder than he ever thought. Lucy comes in and goes off on Sonny for doing business in the Outback, and he will get off while Kevin will be prosecuted. She is crying and Sonny realizes that she is upset but it isn't about him. He and Jason sit down and talk to her about Kevin's situation. Jason tells her that Robin believes in Kevin. Later, Sonny asks her if she really has a problem with him doing business there? She says no and offers to sell her share in the club back to Sonny and he accepts.

Jason comes into the Outback; AJ calls him over and asks him to listen to a speech he is writing. He asks Jason's opinion, who frankly tells him it is boring. Keesha comes in and is surprised to hear that Jason was giving him pointers on his speech. She is ticked that he left her waiting for him for the past hour at Kelly's. He apologizes profusely and she wants to know how long he has been sitting in the bar. Jason takes off and Keesha shudders and says, "He is so weird!

Another day, Mac has told Jason that he has a letter for him from Robin. Jason doesn't understand why his letters from Robin are being sent to Mac? Katherine points out that Robin is a smart girl (meaning she deliberately misaddressed the letter to bring them together). Mac agrees that this is classic Robin to make sure that they see each other as they are both trying to get along without Robin. Jason agrees he will bring over the next letter from Robin when he gets it. They smile at each other, seemingly coming to a new understanding. Mac tells Jason about the doors to GH being closed.

Carly comes into the Outback, she is glowing she is so happy. He is surprised that she isn't upset about GH closing. She tells him she is too happy to allow anything to get her down. She says she now gets what he had with Robin, and she doesn't ever want to hold back from someone like she did with Jason.

Jason goes to the Mansion to see Alan. Alan is unusually polite, happy to see Jason show up there of his own choosing.  Jason is worried about Robin not getting the treatment she needs because of the cost. He asks if the treatment will cost more than $3 million? Alan assures him that it won't be more than that and the offer is very generous of him. "What's the use of money if it's not for something like this?"  He tells that Robin has told him how much he has done for her, how much he has helped her and he says thank you for treating Robin so well.  Alan offers him a ride as he is on his way to GH.

Jason talks to Sonny in the aftermath of a fight he has had with Mike. Sonny tells him that Mike wants him to take down Lily's picture. They wind up talking about Brenda wearing the wire and Jason doesn't understand how she could do that at all, Robin would never do that to him and simply accepts it when he can't talk about something he is doing for Sonny. Sonny defends Brenda repeatedly, while not agreeing with what she did, he understood the motivation in Brenda's mind that lead her to do it.

Carly shows up at Jason's door, suitcase in hand. She is in tears so he lets her in. She is obviously upset and he asks what she needs. She tells him she is in a lot of trouble and needs a place to crash. She tells him that she really needs his help. She promises that it isn't anything that could bring trouble to him or Sonny. She says she knows they aren't exactly friends but they used to be and she really needs her help. He says she can crash there as long as she needs to and he can stay at Sonny's. He demands that she not answer the phone and she promises.

Jason goes by Kelly's and drops off the key to her room there. Tony comes in looking for Carly. Gina tells him that Carly has turned in her key, he looks sad as he realizes she has left town. He asks Gina if she knows where Carly went? She says no, and he leaves. Jason thanks Gina for giving Tony the impression that Carly left town. Gina introduces herself and he realizes she is Stone's sister. He asks if that is why she looks sad, because of Stone? He tells her about the accident and apologizes for not remembering her.

Jason returns to his room, Carly thanks him for helping her. She tells him that she has fallen in love and now she understands why he was so upset with her when he thought she might her Robin. He tells her again she can stay there as long as she wants. She wants to know if anyone was looking for her at Kelly's? He mentions Dr. Jones asking about her.

Carly is writing a note when Jason returns the next morning, bearing a muffin from Kelly's and coffee from Jake.  Carly is concerned that Jake knows she is there, but Jason assures her Jake won't say anything.  Carly thanks Jason for bringing the food; he asks why she is so nervous. Is someone else looking for her besides Dr. Jones? Carly asks what Tony said when he asked about her.  She tells Jason that Tony is the one she's in love with. She tells him that Tony was lonely, that Bobbie slept around, and that Bobbie lied to Tony about important stuff.  Jason gets in a good line, "Oh, and that's a problem for you?" but he smiles when he says it.

Carly says she wouldn't lie to Tony if she didn't have to.  She tells Jason about Luke's threats and she figures he might even ask Sonny to take care of her.  Jason doubts it would come to that but, when she questions him, he admits that if Sonny told him to find Carly, he'd do it. Carly asks Jason if he thinks she is wrong to want to be with Tony.  She thinks she and Tony and Lucas could be happy together. She didn't even like Tony at first, but whenever she needed anything, he was there.  She can't imagine her life without him now.  Jason understands even when the loved one isn't around; they are the reason you get up in the morning.  Carly thinks Jason is lucky as nobody thinks he is wrong to love Robin.  "So what?" asks Jason as what is in his heart for Robin has nothing to do with what other people think. Carly agrees and no matter what Bobbie or Luke say, she loves Tony and she's not going to give him up.

Jason is sitting at the bar at the Luke’s; Gina comes in and heads over to him. He puts his hand on her arm and she begs him not to take his arm off her shoulder, a look of sheer desperation in her eyes. Her date comes up behind her and is a real jerk, and gives the guy the brush-off rescuing her. She apologizes for the guy's behavior. Luke comes in and Jason introduces him to Gina. She says she is hoping she didn't interrupt him? He says that he was just trying to write a letter to Robin but doesn't know what to say. He tells her that he misses Robin every hour of every day. She says that sounds really good and he should include that. He doesn't want to make Robin sad and teases her that if he finds out that makes Robin cry he will go find Nate (the earlier jerk) and tell him that she wants to date him.

Sonny is jumped down on the docks; Jason comes along and knocks the guy out. Jason is angry and demands that Sonny not go anywhere without a bodyguard or get into a car that hasn't been swept for explosives. They discuss who might have sent the goon; Sonny says no one knows anything about any of the east coast families making a move on him. He continues that this looks more personal, and he believes Jax is behind it. Jason doubts it, thinking it's too high risk.

Sonny knows he must be on the right trail as he has been snooping into Jax's past in Australia and he must be getting close to something but he needs to go to Australia without Jax being tipped off. Jason tells him that he has an idea on how to get him there so Jax won't know.  They go to the Quartermaine's to meet with Ned. Sonny tells Ned that he might be on the trail of something that might get Jax out of Ned's hair. Ned hopes this doesn't involve murder? Brenda overhears.  She confronts Sonny, "Breaking into my home and throwing punches at my husband wasn't enough for you, now you're trying to get Ned to go in on some plot against him?"

Sonny answers, "The man isn't welcome on the ELQ board, I don't think that's any secret."

"Oh, and you are?"  Brenda asks if she should check for snipers before her upcoming wedding to Jax. Jason and Ned take this opportunity to make their escape to go see Lila.  Jason and Sonny plan to get Sonny to Australia.  Sonny will go alone, while Jason goes to see Robin. Jason picks Robin up from Yale en route to Brenda and Jax's wedding. After a tire on Jason's motorcycle blows, the two end up taking a ride with one of Robin's acquaintances, who drops them off at an Irish Inn, The Wild Swan (a OLTL set that they used while Kimberly was in school back east).

Robin contacts Brenda and lets her know that somehow she and Jason will make it to the wedding in time. Brenda tells Robin that she is fired as her maid of honor and to make the most of her time with Jason, knowing the two will never make it to the wedding in time. She tells them that the best wedding gift they can give her is to spend the time together. They agree that's what's best.  Jason and Robin sit near the fireplace at the Wild Swan, kissing. She asks him if he misses her? She says she can tell he does by the way he is holding her but he hasn't said it yet. He says he doesn't know how. She slowly says, "I missed you. I miss you every minute of every day."

He tells her he wrote the same thing in a letter that he never sent her. She asks to see it. He had written how the ache wasn't what she had described missing someone was like, that it was much bigger. That all he does is eat, work, and sleep but none of it matters as his heart is with her. She gets tears in her eyes and he says that is why he didn't send the letter, as he doesn't want her to be sad. He wants her to stay in school, that he can handle being without her. He tells her that it sucks but he will get through it. She tells him that they can talk about it as he can tell her anything and they will be stronger because they are together. Jason promises he will always be waiting for her and she promises to always come back.

Back in PC, Jason tells Sonny about his being with Robin.  Luke comes along and asks how things went down under.  Jason gives Sonny a baseball hat that says "Harvard" on it that Robin sent back for him. Sonny replies that things were highly productive and that he brought back the first Mrs. Jasper Jacks.  Lucky comes to the club and tells the guys about the boy who died from the drug overdose.  Lucky and Luke go off to talk about what's happened. Jason and Sonny discuss the drug problem.

Keesha comes in during the conversation. Keesha confronts Sonny thinking that he would know about the influx of drugs. Luke tries to get her to lay off of Sonny, but Keesha will not be put off. She will not give up until the situation changes.  Her words affect Lucky, and he agrees with her. They wonder how long this has been going on, and Sonny guesses it's been since mid-summer. Luke wonders what's different about the situation and concludes the difference is Stephan Cassadine.

Jason is playing pool, and he tells Sonny he set up a meeting. Sonny wants him to come with him, as Jason is better at math than Sonny is and he has a unique ability to tell when someone is lying. Sonny asks how Robin is? Good, she is doing well in school. Sonny asks about Brenda, and Jason tells him that she's a bit upset that Jax's dead wife showed up. Sonny quietly asks if Robin knows that Sonny was behind that? Jason says yes but Brenda told her it was payback for the wire. Sonny is sorry that Brenda was hurt but it felt good to make Jax pay.

Jason shows up at Carly's mountain love nest bearing groceries. Tony comes in, surprised to see Jason there. Tony says he didn't realize they were friends. Tony says he could have stopped on his way home. Carly says that the dinner was supposed to be a surprise. After Jason leaves, Carly asks if Tony minds that Jason was there? He says no, that he trusts her completely and all of her friends are welcome. He jokes they should have a party and invite all of her friends and all of his friends. This surprises Carly as she thought he wanted to keep a low profile. He says he left Bobbie and has moved out. He loves Carly with all of his heart and he doesn't care who knows it!

Back at Luke's, Jason gives a courier a suspicious package.  AJ comes in and asks him to help Monica. He tells her that she is in a bad way. AJ knows that Jason doesn't think of himself as part of the family anymore but he is still the good son. Jason laughs that if he is the good son that AJ must have really screwed up. Jason can't do it. He is sorry that Monica is hurting but she wants her son not him and he won't pretend to be someone he's not.

AJ grabs his arm and says he won't let him just walk away from this. AJ demands to know what part of your mother needs you do you not understand? He has seen Jason care about Robin; he knows he is capable of it. Jason tells him again that Monica wants to see her son Jason, not him. AJ asks him to just stand in the room that would be enough. Jason warns him that he won't know what to do or what to say and it will only hurt Monica.

Finally, Jason agrees but tells AJ that he will go with him. He also tells him that when it is over and Monica feels worse than before he got there it will be over and he never wants AJ to ask this of him again. When AJ and Jason approach the terrace, they can hear Alan and Monica arguing about losing Jason. Jason tells AJ to listen to them and really hear what the problems are between them, as he doesn't need to be there. Jason walks away, as Monica and Alan hash out their pain over the loss of Jason and how they have both dealt with that, and her cancer, and her affair with Pierce.

Jason is wandering around the docks by Kelly's.  He notices a very sad Emily sitting alone in the dark on a bench. He asks if she is waiting for someone? She says no and he asks if he can sit down next to her. She asks why? He says he doesn't want anyone to jump her. She is surprised that he thinks this could happen in front of Kelly's. He sits down next to her and he notices Emily is cold, and wraps her in his leather jacket.  She tells him things have been bad at the house, and he tells her he was there and heard Alan and Monica arguing. She is curious if it bothered him, it doesn't.

"I knew you wouldn't care. I just wish I didn't care so much," replies Emily.  She begins to cry, and Jason puts an arm around her and draws her head onto his shoulder. In the next scene, Emily, with Jason's arm still around her, has stopped crying and is telling him about the photo of Lois's baby.  She thinks Lois will make a good Mom. Jason guesses so, but doesn't know much about it.  Emily remarks that Monica tries to be a good mother, and tells him about Monica's promise to Page.  Emily worries that Monica might die too and Jason asks why.

Emily begins to explain about follow-up check-ups for breast cancer patients, and Jason discovers that he knows a fair amount about the subject.  He supposes that Jason Quartermaine must have learned everything he could.  Emily explains that Monica cancelled her check-up.  She had hoped the phone call to Alan would help, but if Alan and Monica were fighting, that probably means he failed.  She's scared but Jason doesn't know how to help her. Emily suggests, "I have to learn not to care so much."  Jason offers her a motorcycle ride home; Emily is happy to accept. She tells Jason he is a nice guy and seems comforted by his presence.

Mike talks to Jason about his worries for Sonny, about him moving on. He tries to explain to Jason that when you see someone you in trouble that the right thing to do is to try to help whether you know them or not. Mike asks if Jason say someone drowning wouldn't he stop to help? Mike points out that Sonny was drowning in his grief but at least he has taken down Lily's picture. He points out that Sonny finding Jax's ex wasn't quite what Mike had in mind when he encouraged Sonny to move forward but perhaps it is a good start.

Sally the maid announces a visitor, who Monica assumes is Dorman.  She goes to tell him off and then sees it's Jason.  Jason says he's there to see Emily and inquires about Monica's checkup, she tells him she's fine and that Alan has moved back home. Jason tells her he didn't know she had cancer and says it's good that she's all right.  AJ comes in and Monica goes back to the living room.

AJ and Jason exchange words about how happy Monica was to see him. Jason tells him that no matter how happy she may be, he can't be what she really wants. He understands that when someone you really love is sick that you would do anything to help them to save them. He does understand that AJ is trying to help her and then he leaves. Back at Luke's, Jason and Sonny talk about their visits with Monica and Brenda, neither visit went so bad.  Sonny tells him Brenda hates him now, and that's good, because she does it with heart and it's a cute thing to see.  She doesn't hate Jax, but she doesn't trust him and that is all Sonny wanted.

"A Thanksgiving to Remember"  November 28, 1996    Edward is huffing about Sonny and that Jax character stealing his business and Sonny tells him not to take it personally, he'll have himself another

heart attack. Emily goes to Sonny and hugs him, "How are you?"

So much better now!" she responds.

Justus bops on in.  "Hey! (to Sonny)  My Main MAN!"  He has all the deep dark nasty secrets on Edward.  Sonny is delighted to know that Edward whacked Damian Smith!

"I did no such thing!"  Sonny shows the file to the family.  "Grandpa!"  "Edward!"  "Father!"  Ned comes in wearing an Eastern monk's robe.

"Oh, Ned!" exclaims Edward.  "Thank God you're here!  This whole room has gone mad!  Although I shouldn't be surprised and I -- uh -- what the devil are you wearing, Ned?"  (Mysterious Asian music plays)

"Ah.  Grandfather. That is precisely the point.  The devil is no more.  All is peace.  Harmony.  Oneness in the universe.  Now that I've discovered my spiritual path."

"Isn't that Wonderful?" beams Alan. "GOOD for Ned!" enthuses Monica.  They applaud. Brenda and Jax come in, wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving.  Jax and Sonny shake hands.  "Yo, Sonny BOY!"

 "Yeah, what's the word?" "Thunderbird."

"What's the price?"   "Eddie twice."  Edward is blustery and baffled.  "ELQ has been taken over by cretins and imbeciles!  Now, Ned, you have to do something!"  "I intend to," Ned replies calmly. "Sonny, Jax, come to me, please.  I propose we donate all existing ELQ assets to various Benson Hurst charities and start all over."  They think this is a great idea.  Brenda remarks: "Jax and I should rummage through all these old knickknacks and pick out some wedding gifts for ourselves, don't you think?"  Ned agrees.  Brenda smiles at Jax, "Come along, my little blueberry muffin!"

Jax, "Whatever you say, sweetums."

Alan says, "Perhaps now, Father, there'll be room for me in a kinder, gentler ELQ."

Edward isn't going down without a fight, "That'll be a cold day in Hell."

Ned says, "The CEO position is wide open.  You and Justus can fight it out to your heart's content."

Justus says, "Oh, no, please, please, Alan you take it, I insist.  I'm gonna work with Sonny on his end of things."

Edward blusters "No, no, no, now this is unthinkable for you to betray me like this!"

Justus says, "EDWARD!  I'm struggling with my identity!  Today -- I'm the Rebel in the family!"

Reginald comes bouncing in, "They're here!"  The family all assumes their positions. It's President and Mrs. A.J. Quartermaine.   Keesha is in pillbox hat and Channel suit, very Kennedy-esque.   "Ruffles and Flourishes" plays.  "My Fellow Americans, One thing that you can be certain of is that A.J. Quartermaine likes his sweet potatoes with plenty of marshmallows."

Edward shouts, "This is a NIGHTMARE!" and they chorus, "SHUT UP, EDWARD!"

Lila wheels in, "Good news, everyone, good news!  I just spoke to Tracy.  She's coming home, and she's bringing Dylan with her!"  Edward covers his eyes.

Lila dimples at A.J, "Nice to see you, Mr. President."

Jason drives his motorcycle into the room.  Lila hopes he'll stay for dinner.  "Oh, grandmother, I can't. I've only got enough time to rip off a few candlesticks and meet up with my buds at the tattoo parlor."

At this, Emily lights up,  "Oh, Alan, can I go, PLEEEEASE. I've been dying to get 'Quartermaines rule' tattooed on my thigh!"

Alan beams, "Of course you can, my precious girl!"

Edward asks, "Have you all gone stark staring mad?"  He tells Emily that she's not setting one foot out of the house with that hoodlum.

Emily sweet-talks him, "Ah, Edward, I would rethink that position. You see, Justus and Sonny have taught me to use surveillance equipment and I've taped all your private conversations.  If I don't get my way, I'll turn them all over to Dara Jensen."

Monica says, "I'm so proud of you, Emily!"

Alan agrees,  "A True Quartermaine at last!"

Keesha informs them that the CIA has checked into Edward's background.  It turns out he has another illegitimate son.

That's enough for Lila, "That's IT!  Dominican Republic, here I come!"

Sonny grins at Edward, "Hey-ya Pops, how's it going?"

"Oh, goodie," says Alan.   "I've always wanted another brother!  Jimmie Lee Holt never made it for me!  Sonny!  My bro!"  They hug.

Monica was having so much fun she forgot to give Edward his medical results.  It's Good News!  He needs surgery right away!

"What for?"

"It doesn't matter."  Alan's hand is all fixed and he's ready.

Alan puts his claw up, "Gee, Monica, ya think?"  He hopes he remembers how to do surgery.

"It's like falling off a bike," Jason comments.

Alan has a bright idea (he says to Jason), "You used to be premed, would you like to assist?  What do you think?"

"I don't know.  Sonny?  What do I think?" Jason asks.

Sonny thinks it'd be great, and Justus agrees that "having a henchman with surgical skills could prove invaluable."

"Cool," Jason enthuses. They gather around Edward. He mumbles and mutters.  He's asleep in the chair with Reginald and Lila watching him.

Reginald asks, "You think we should wake him?"

Lila thinks, "Might as well let him sleep while he can."  End of the dream scenes (for anyone who would like to see the whole show and other Thanksgiving dream episodes check out the Thanksgiving episode edit).

(Back to the regular show) Jason bursts in looking for Sonny.  Mike says to leave him alone today, on the anniversary of Stone's death. Mike tells Jason about Stone, at Jason's request.  Sonny walks in. Robin sent Jason back for him to be with Sonny.  Sonny talks about Stone and says he must be in heaven.  Sonny calls for Mike to bring glasses and they toast to Stone. Gina walks in, says she got a letter from Robin saying to go to Luke's if she didn't want to be alone.  Sonny gives her a hug while Jason watches.   Gina says she's short on cash, and Jason and Sonny talk, and then offer her a job at Luke's as a hostess.  They all get ready to toast Stone again.  Sonny flashes back to Stone saying Sonny and Brenda would be together someday.

Sonny is in the penthouse and the doorbell rings.  It's Robin!  She wants to know if he's eating right?  She tells him he should write.  She came to surprise everyone, but no one is home, and even her room is taken by someone else.  They talk about Miranda.  She tells Sonny he shouldn't have found Miranda.  Brenda is so mad, she told Robin in excruciating detail for over two hours.  "Hey, you're the only person who can get her that mad!"

"It's a gift." Sonny observes. Robin suggests he should use it right. Jason comes in. She tells them that she doesn't have terrible news that she came to tell them she wouldn't be home for Christmas as she's going on a media tour for HIV+ youth.  Sonny and Jason both feel this is terrible news! Sonny asks if she'll be all right with this Media tour and she says it couldn't be as hard as the Nurses' Ball, and besides, she won't have Jason to carry her. Sonny is proud of her, and Stone would be too. Robin makes Sonny promise to go to Mass on Christmas.  Sonny's going to take Jason, too.

Sonny leaves, and Robin tells Jason the reason she sent him back yesterday from New Haven.  She was so in love with Jason, and she needed to tell Stone, to tell him that she had gone on after all.  Jason is relieved. Sonny comes back with a mini-tree that will travel and Robin puts a red ribbon on it to decorate it.  Jason gives her a beautiful necklace. Mac arrives home to find Robin waiting for him, but she has to leave almost immediately and tells him she won't be home for Christmas. They chat briefly about Miranda before Jason arrives to take her to the airport. Jason sees Robin off at the airport. They kiss and they each say, "I love you".

Jason pops in with Gina on her first night as hostess at the club. Gina asks Jason if he is the reason why Sonny hired her. He tells her that he is but that Sonny likes and needs her there. Sonny tells Brenda that Gina is working there now. Brenda asks Jason what he hears from Robin? He coldly says same as you. After he walks away, Brenda wants to know why Jason is looking at her like he hates her all of a sudden? She realizes Sonny told him about her wearing the wire and tells him he is unbelievable.

Katherine challenges Jason and Nikolas to a game of pool against each other. After Jason wins, Sonny calls him aside and asks him to call his guy in Australia to locate Miranda's death certificate. Brenda suddenly has reservations about Sonny finding it but after he tells her he can have word to her within 48 hours, she agrees to go along. He tells her he will have his buddy check for a marriage certificate while he's at it and Brenda leaves. Jason asks Sonny why he always tries to get her upset? He tells her that she could have gone anywhere to get the information that she needed but that she came to him and she has to pay somehow.

Sonny tells Jason that Robin is very upset over Laura's death and he wants Jason to go see her. After Sonny is drugged, Jason arrives back at the hospital, frantic for information. He finds Mike, who fills him in on the details that someone shot him up with dope and left him for dead. Jason doesn't know who did it, but when he finds out, they're dead.

Mike explains that Sonny's bodyguard is with him, as is Brenda. Jason is not pleased to hear about Brenda but Mike explains how Brenda saved Sonny's life. He says that when Sonny didn't show up for the memorial service that Brenda got worried and found him at the penthouse. Alan intercepts Jason, offering information on Sonny's condition.  Jason correctly names the drug they are using, and then gets angry with Alan as he assumes that Alan wants to ask what Jason knows about Sonny's involvement with drugs.

Alan wanders over to Mike, remarking that he doesn't think Jason learned about the treatment of heroin overdoses in pre-med.  He wonders if Sonny taught him? Mike knows what it feels like to be estranged from a son and he recommends that Alan accept the choices Jason has made.  Alan finds that hard that Sonny stole Jason's inheritance and involved him in a life that's going to get him arrested or killed.  Mike suggests that Sonny gave Jason a place to go when he had nowhere else.

Jason comes into Sonny's room, and asks Sonny if the police have questioned him yet.  No, says Sonny, but it's coming.  Jason asks if they gave Sonny the heroin at the penthouse, and Brenda explains about hiding the syringe, etc., under the sofa cushion. Jason asks to see Sonny alone and Brenda leaves.  Jason presumes the police found the stuff.  Sonny tries to get Jason to leave, because he's afraid Jason will lose his temper and hit Detective Taggart. He tries to send Jason to tell Robin about what happened, but Jason refuses to leave.

Sonny explains to Tom his role in Laura's getaway. On Sonny's orders, Jason had gotten Laura, Tom, and Leslie to a safe house.  Benny hacked into the computer at the University to change medical records so the bodies in the house would be identified as Laura and Leslie. A car and another safe house were lined up for the Spencer's escape after the funeral.  Sonny asked Jason to arrange for a driver for Tom so he couldn't be followed going back and forth across town. Sonny had six people involved, but he assured Luke they wouldn't talk, as they don't care. Then Tom tells Sonny about the Spencer's post-funeral reunion. Tom goes on to explain that Luke's gun was used to shoot Katherine, and that the police are looking for Luke. Sonny looks concerned.

Jason finds Brenda and Mike sitting in a stairwell.  He ignores Brenda and tells Mike that he is leaving and suggests that Mike should stay with Sonny. Brenda answers for Mike, "We will". Jason sighs in disgust.  Brenda asks what is wrong between them. Jason berates her for not disposing of the drug paraphernalia. She says she did, she stashed it in the couch cushions. He says she should have taken it with her and disposed of it elsewhere as now the police have the stuff.   Mike interrupts and points out that Brenda saved Sonny's life, and that's all that matters. Jason apologizes and says he is being a jerk and thanks her for what she did.

Taggart and Jensen arrive and ask Jason about his boss's nasty habit.  Brenda snaps, "Sonny doesn't do drugs."  Taggart points out that he was talking to Jason, not to her. Jason tells him to go to hell, and Taggart starts to get on Jason's case that maybe he's a heroin addict too? He's a special case because he dates the commissioner's niece, and he's got brain damage.  Brenda screams at Taggart. Mike asks Dara if she is going to tolerate that kind of harassment?

Jason ignores Taggart, reminds Mike not to leave Sonny, and exits. Brenda starts to have another fit, but Mike draws her off to go see Sonny. Dara asks Taggart what he was doing. Taggart was trying to push Jason to lose his temper, and then he'd see what he could find out.  Dara tells him she doesn't work that way, she'll wait for the forensics report, and maybe they'll have a charge against Sonny that will stick.

Jason arrives at Carly's and tells her he needs her help. She tells him how sorry she is about Sonny and asks how long he has been using? Jason explodes and rants at Carly about someone trying to not only kill Sonny but to dishonor him at the same time. Jason is sad and angry that he wasn't there and feels it's all his fault. He complains about how stupid Joseph was to just stand there for over an hour when Sonny didn't return.  He's unhappy that he wasn't there for Sonny.  He wants to call Robin who also tells him not to do anything rash.

After the call, Carly says his face changes when he talks to Robin, and he says "so does yours, when you talk about Dr. Jones."  Carly shares how many people object to her being with Tony. She complains about Bobbie and how she married a millionaire (Stefan Cassidine) before the ink on the divorce decree was even dried. Jason thanks her for listening to him and talking him down that he was so ticked off when he got there that he might have done something stupid. She says he is the best friend she has had in a long time. He teases that she is okay now that he doesn't have to sleep with her. She yells in indignation and starts throwing things at him as she laughs that he should be so lucky!

Tony comes in as they rough house a bit. Carly tells Tony she didn't expect him back so soon. "I guess not," he replies with a touch of testosterone showing. When Carly asks about Lucas, Tony says he has to return to him, and he may not be back for a while. An anxious Carly wants to know if he'll be back for Christmas?

Jason tells Sonny that Jax's dead wife sends her regards. Sonny is surprised and asks if she called from Australia. Jason says no, she is in the hallway. Jason hands him a bag of clothes and after Sonny looks inside he groans, "You are the wrong person to ask to bring clothes!" Sonny gives Jason the sketch of the woman who set him up and says to find her. Sonny doesn't think it was a drug thing since it was too subtle and Sonny thinks there is a mystery player here. He tells Jason he has been released and there is a guard outside so Jason can leave and start searching.

It's Christmas Eve and Mike, Jason, Sonny and his partner, Joseph, show up at the tree lot to pick out a tree at Mike's insistence. Sonny picks out a tree and she wants $150 for it. Mike says that it should only be $50! Sonny stops him from arguing with her. The very pregnant Maria groans in pain and argues with her husband about her water having broken. She tells her husband she doesn't want to leave the lot for the hospital because it is crunch time and they need to pull in all the money they can from the last minute tree shoppers.

Sonny hears their discussion in Spanish and is amazed that her water broke an hour ago. She refuses to leave, as the tree lot as her husband works at a gas station and her at the lunch counter all year and this is the time they have a chance to make some real money. Sonny insists that she go to the hospital and she finally agrees but insists that her husband stay behind. Sonny won't hear of it and he offers to run the tree lot for them and sell the tree. Jason and Mike take her to the hospital while Sonny and Joseph play Santa.

Edward shows up at the lot as they need the tree for the GH Christmas party (okay but who buys a tree on Christmas Eve?)  Edward groans when he sees Sonny is in charge. Sonny gives Edward a hard time and charges him $5000 for the tree! Sonny deals that Edward can come back the next day and get a great deal on Christmas. Edward groans and I guess there are no other tree lots in Port Charles as he pays the money!

Jason shows up at Carly's and she gives him a present, it is a key chain. She tells him Tony will be home soon but that she will not be spending Christmas with him. He tells her that maybe the two of them can do something together tomorrow. She tells him she knows it's silly but she misses her mother.

Jason takes off and visits Lila at the Quartermaine's. He brings her a box of peppermint candies and she asks him to fix a paper dove ornament for her that he once made. He tells her he doesn't know how but eventually it hangs from the Quartermaine tree. Alan reads the annual Christmas story and Tony is Santa.

Ned sings a beautiful version of "I'll Be Home for Christmas" as a montage of scenes is shown: Carly sitting alone by the fire, Lila happily looks at Jason's ornament hanging from the tree, Sonny goes in to visit Maria and her husband and holds their newborn son, and presents them with a ton of money from his night at the lot. Mac gives Kat a diamond bracelet, and all is right in Port Charles as Lucy hands out presents at the children's party and hugs Kevin, even Audrey looks happy and gives Alan a thumbs up!

At the New Year's Eve party at Luke's, AJ asked Jason to stop the gathering at the Quartermaines later that evening. Jason declined, however, and told AJ that it wouldn't fix anything. Jason and Gina played a game of pool. There is a nice montage of all of the couples celebrating to "The Way You Look Tonight".  Robin calls Sonny and Jason.  Sonny steers Gina away from Jason so Jason can take Robin's call.

At Jake's, Carly is looking for Jason. Two creeps playing pool give her the once-over, which she enjoys immensely. When she works the room with her bosom, swishing her hair walking over to the bar, they follow her there and tell a vulgar joke. Carly laughs. While one creep is busy showing Carly the size of his "feet," Jason walks in. The creeps leave, and Jason suggests that while he doesn't know how hard it is to put on a bar she should before she comes to Jake's. Carly says she was enjoying being noticed. Carly says she and Tony didn't fight, but Jason guesses better.

Carly says she has to be patient, or she'll blow it with Tony. Jason laughs at the idea of her being patient. Carly blames Bobbie for torturing Tony with Lucas. When Jason says Bobbie isn't being unreasonable, Carly explodes. Carly asks, "Am I trashy?" Jason says he doesn't know what "trashy" means. He does say that going out in your bar clothes means you're "looking." You should be able to be happy even when the other person isn't around. The creeps leave and Jason goes to work. Carly stays to finish her sandwich.

In the alley outside Jakes, Carly is cornered by the two creeps. The offer her money for "her services" and grab her. She screams and fights until Jason comes to her rescue. He gets the guys off of her and proceeds to punch one of them while Carly scares off the other one by swinging a large pipe-like object. Jason continues to punch the guy, but Carly pulls him off before he kills him. Carly shakily asks Jason why they offered her money? She then thinks back to meeting with Luke in the cabin and the things he said to her. Jason gives the remaining guy one last punch, and then leaves with Carly.

#3B  Jason and Carly arrive at her apartment, he warns her she has to learn how to drive and get a car. She is talking non-stop about her new furniture, and she goes on and on about finally having a place of her own, about her and Tony, and about why they have to wait to get married. Jason asks if she really wants to get married?

"Tomorrow, if I could," she replies. If she were married to Tony, people would have to think about her differently. "After all, Dr. Tony Jones wouldn't marry a whore," she explains. Jason tells Carly that she doesn't have to get married to have people like her. Carly goes off to take a bath and Jason volunteers to stay. Finished her bath, Carly models the robe that Tony gave her. She tells Jason that he's a good friend. She also says that she doesn't want Tony to know about what happened today. Tony arrives and finds Carly with Jason. Jason leaves. (Note, he isn't jealous but later when she tells Tony that Jason is Michael's father she used situations like this to make him believe she had slept with Jason).

AJ is waiting at Jake's for Jason. AJ tells him about all the current drama going on at the Q's. Jason is curious why he chooses to live there? AJ admits he spends most of his time at Keesha's. Sonny and Jason discuss their money laundering situation.  Benny is nervous about the amount of cash which is accumulating, but Sonny doesn't want Jason to go to Canada any time soon as he doesn't want Jason going to Canada so soon. Sonny can't leave the country until he finds out who is trying to kill him.

Benny didn't find anything in Marilyn Cooper's phone records, and Jason hasn't found out who the guys were at Marilyn Cooper's apartment the day Sonny and Brenda hid in the closet. Jason snips that Sonny didn't give him much of a description, Sonny defends that he was hiding in the closet. Jason remarks that Joseph blames himself, especially since they almost killed Sonny the first time and they both freeze for a moment, but then deny that anything is wrong.

Jason tells Sonny that Joseph was worried about him for going to the cemetery alone. Sonny tells him he buried his wedding ring on Lily's grave and he didn't want a bodyguard with him while he did that. Jason tells him that Robin worries about him. Sonny reminds him that people worry about their loved ones.  Sonny promised Robin once that he wouldn't let Jason go so far into smuggling that he couldn't get out, and it's a promise he wishes he had kept. Jason says he wanted to be in the business and Sonny asks why. Sonny got into the business because he was a poor kid with a bad family situation, but Jason wasn't in that state. Jason wanted to get away from the Q's, and Sonny told him back then that the Q's had no power in his world.

Before Sonny, nobody believed in Jason; Sonny gave Jason a place to go. All the things that make Jason wrong in other situations (he doesn’t' talk much, he's fearless, he doesn't always know right from wrong) makes him well suited to the smuggling trade. Sonny let Jason "cross the line" because, at the time of Lily's death, he didn't care about anyone or anything.  Stone was different, once Sonny told him to do something dangerous, and Stone blew it. That allowed Sonny to keep him outside of the dangerous part of the illicit candy business. But Jason is inside now, "This is your life for the rest of your life, and even if want you out, with all the people you know and all the deals you've made, it could get you killed."

Jason likes the fact that Sonny lets him choose. Even Robin makes some of Jason's decisions for him. Sonny says he used to not worry about the consequences of his actions for those close to him. But now he understands that he can't view things that way. He is worried about Brenda running around playing detective. Luckily, Brenda told him her detective days are over. Unfortunately, he doesn't want Brenda to stay away he wants it to be safe for her to come back.

In January, Jason sits alone on his "birthday" thinking of waking up to see Robin when he was in the hospital after the accident. Sonny comes in and tells Jason that he saw the toxicology report and it was almost pure heroin like the stuff on the street. Sonny says there were two guys, one who has access to the hospital and can romance a nurse. He doesn't know who that is but he believes the second person was Jax, to get rid of him and discredit him.

Sonny still doesn't think it is someone after his territory. He warns Jason that one of the reason's he doesn't get involved in drugs is it always gets messy, there is too much money involved and invariably someone gets greedy, people die and then the cops are all over it. Sonny says again that this feels very personal and he really doesn't like that Brenda was used to get to him. Mike cons Jason into stocking the bar. He then suggests that Sonny check over the books. Sonny says it’s interesting that Mike has a job for everyone but himself. Mike and Sonny argue about Brenda, Mike encourages Sonny to move on Brenda and take his chance with her. Sonny gets angry and tells Mike to butt out.

AJ shows up and wishes Jason a happy birthday, acknowledging the new day he celebrates. He invites Jason out for lunch, Jason turns him down and says the cook will be in soon and he usually makes Jason lunch. AJ looks disappointed then Jason invites him to stay and the cook can make him something as well. AJ apologizes to Jason again and he tells him to stop that what happened to someone else and Jason is happy with his life. Mac comes in and tells Sonny that someone matching Marilyn Cooper's description was found dead. Sonny is curious why Mac is helping with his. Mac admits that Sonny might be a target because he makes it hard to move drugs in PC and Mac owes him for that.

Later, Robin surprises Jason by coming into town a week early. Happy to be home, Robin tells Jason she can stay in Port Charles for a full week. Great series of scenes during her two-week return as they rejoice in each other and then they delve into the medical, emotional aspects of HIV. Sonny (who is on the surprise with Robin) brings Brenda into see Robin. Brenda fills Robin in on the last few months: Sonny being drugged, the difficulty she has had with Miranda being in Jax's life and how insecure she became. Brenda quietly admits to Robin how frightened she was that she was going to lose Sonny after he was attacked.

After Brenda leaves, Robin covers Jason's eyes as Sonny brings out his birthday cake (homemade by Sonny). It has one candle on it to symbolize the new Jason's first year since the accident. Sonny says it is the first cake he has ever made, as deserts aren't his specialty. They toast and Sonny gives Jason a wad of money to spend on Robin, and gives him seven days off from work. He tells them they have the club to themselves. Jason tops off his "first" birthday celebration by sharing some private time with Robin at the deserted blues club.

When Jason expresses concern about her health, Robin asks him to let her enjoy a brief moratorium on thinking about living with HIV. They slow dance. He says he wants to take her someplace beautiful; she looks at him and says they are already there.  Happy to be free of her studies for one solid week, Robin suggests to Jason that they retreat to his apartment to revel in one another's company without interruptions. He tells her it is a mess as he has greasy motorcycle parts everywhere. She doesn't care she just wants to be alone with him.

Cute scene as he makes her wait outside as he runs around moving the parts and straightening up. She wants to know what is burning. He opens the door to a clean room filled with candlelight. She raves that it is beautiful and she is touched by his thoughtfulness.

Taggert comes into Luke's and questions Sonny about a drug bust that went down last night. Sonny insists that he doesn't have anything to do with drugs. Tag then wants to know where Luke is? Sonny says he doesn't know. Taggert warns him, "I'm going to take you down!" Jason finds Robin standing alone on the bridge where she and Stone used to go. She has a flashback to the night Luke took Stone bunging jumping. Jason finds her there; she wasn't where she was supposed to meet him. So he came to the bridge looking for her.

Robin cries in anger, fear and pain over the damage that AIDS does. Suffering from a case of survivor's guilt, Robin weeps on Jason's shoulder as she wonders aloud why she's been spared from the horror of AIDS while countless others have suffered and died. She is afraid for her future, she is afraid of taking doing the new drug protocol. She lashes out at Jason in anger. He loves her so much and knows that she is hurting yet he feels powerless to help her. He just holds her and lets her cry. He understands that the decision about taking the new drugs is hard for her. He tells her that she is the biggest thing in his life that she fills him up.

Back at his apartment, they talk more about her fear of the side effects of the drugs. There is a music montage to "One Fine Day" with various PCers shown. Robin tells him that she is afraid that the new protocol might not work and might take away what she has left. She tells him that she is afraid as her latest test shows that her viral load has increased. She is afraid if she doesn't take the drugs that she will die sooner. She is afraid if she starts the drugs that she might die anyway and go through it all for nothing. Jason reassures Robin that he's never going to desert her no matter what choice she makes.

Trying to see things from Robin's point of view, Jason comes to the Quartermaine mansion with questions about the current treatment for HIV. At first Alan is worried that Jason is asking for all the info because he is HIV+. Jason says no, Alan realizes he just wants to educate himself so he can fully understand the choice that Robin is facing. Grateful for any time he gets to spend with his estranged son, Alan explains to Jason how the new drug protocol works to block the virus. Astonished to hear his son rattling off complicated medical terminology with ease, Alan feels a faint flicker of hope that Jason is beginning to regain his memory. Drawing on his own experience during Monica's cancer treatment, Alan gives Jason some sage advice about how to deal with a loved one's serious illness.

Following his informative talk with Alan, Jason angrily accuses Robin of using her condition to cling to Stone's memory while she avoids making a commitment to a new love. He says she is hanging onto the virus as a way of holding onto Stone. She admits that maybe she does feel guilty for having a chance to escape what Stone couldn't. He tells her no matter whether she lives or whether he is there or not he will always love her that is just the way it is. Reminding Robin of what lies ahead for her if her HIV status changes to full blown Aids, Jason urges her to accept the new drug protocol as her last, best chance for a full, rich life. She agrees to do it for him. He gets angry and tells her he doesn't want her to do it for him. He knows she is scared, he wants her to do it for herself.

He says she doesn't have to do anything for him except let him love her. He does admit that he wants her to go on the protocol. She agrees as she wants to live and have a future with him. Sonny shows up and she shares the happy news with him. Sonny gets a call on his cell phone from Rochester (where the Spencer family has been hiding out since Laura's death was faked). Sonny says his goodbyes to Robin and insists Jason go home with her. He tells her that he will pay for her treatments but Jason argues that he will pay for it. Robin asks if either of them have discussed this with Uncle Mac. Sonny says no but seems sure he will prevail. Jason and Robin share a lingering goodbye kiss before she leaves.

Jax and Sonny are in the park arguing, Jax wants Sonny to stay away from Brenda. Sonny suggests that if Jax has a problem with Brenda spending time with him that he should take it up with Brenda. Then Sonny gets snarky and gloats that Brenda keeps coming back to him and reassures Jax that at least he has Miranda to keep him warm. When Jax takes a swing at Sonny, Jason instantly materializes and stops Jax and pushes down into the snow and tells him, "Back off or I will take you down!" (Someone's been spending a little too much time with Taggert). Jax tells Jason that he has no quarrel with him but Sonny is putting Brenda's life in danger and if she is hurt in any way he will kill both Jax and Sonny. Sonny suggests that now Jax has them all scared that he should split.

After Jax huffs off, Sonny wants to know what Jason is doing there? Jason wants to know where his bodyguards are? Sonny defends that he just got released. Jason questions, "So what the cops gave you back everything except your cell phone?" Sonny admits that Brenda wanted to take care of him and it works better if his bodyguards aren't hanging around. Jason interrupts and says no, "It works better if you’re alive!" Jason reminds him that whoever is after him is still out there. Sonny changes the subject and wants to know why he left Robin? Jason says that Mac called and told him that Sonny had been arrested.

Taggert comes by and tries to goad Jason into hitting him but Jason resists the temptation. After Taggert leaves, Jason tells Sonny that Robin has started her drug treatment. She didn't want Jason to stay with her as she felt she needed to start the drug regime on her own as it will be something she will have to learn how to do without his help.

Jason and Sonny go by the gatehouse to see Lois and the baby who are in town visiting. Lois introduces Brook Lynn to her cousin, Jason, and her to her Uncle Sonny. Lois gives Sonny the baby, and Jason touches her gingerly. Luke fills Sonny and Jason in on how his case. Sonny believes Taggert is using the charges against Luke to get to Sonny. Lucy asked Luke, Sonny and Jason to look into what possible motives the Cassadines would have for wanting to work so closely with her Doc. Sonny tells Lucy that Luke felt if Laura was dead that she would be safe from the Cassidines. She is worried about Kevin going to work with Stephan. Luke believes that the Stephan wants something out from Kevin.

Taggert comes in and needles Sonny again, Sonny gloats that he knows that Taggert was thrown off the Spencer case. After he leaves, Sonny asks Jason if he has uncovered anything in the background investigation on Taggert? Jason goes over some of the details but nothing that tells them why Taggert has a personal grudge against Sonny. Sonny believes it would be easy to set him up by planting drugs on him since he was shot up with heroin as people on the street now wonder about his possible drug connection.

An upset AJ comes in and babbles about how Monica was shot full of arrows all day in the Dorman trial, and when he left they were taking aim at Alan. AJ doesn't pause as he continues, "I know they aren't your parents, and I'm not your brother, blah, blah, blah...just a little news flash from your DNA." Jason doesn't say a word. After AJ walks away, Jason tells Gina he has been following the trial but doesn't get how it can get so cruel and why it is allowed. Jason is puzzled why Alan even goes. Gina points out because he believes in Monica and it helps her having him there. Jason says that Alan has been very good to Robin and was nice to him when he sought Alan out to ask him questions about Robin's treatment. Gina offers that if he would like to go to the courthouse that she would go with him.

Jason and Gina walk in and sit down in court, Alan turns around with a big grin to see Jason put in an appearance. It is towards the end of the day, and Jason witnesses the end of Monica being cross-examined by Alexis about her relationship with Dorman. Monica admits that she broke off the relationship with Dorman because her husband needed her again. Monica says that she will love Alan till the day she dies. After the courtroom has cleared, Jason returns after taking Gina to work. She was bowled over to see Jason back in the courtroom. Alan asks Jason to stay with her while he checks in the hospital.

She tells Jason that Alan is trying to give them a chance to be alone together as Alan had the chance the other day. Jason doesn't understand why Alan didn't just say that? Monica observes that when they admit that they want to spend time with him that it always drives him away, so they come up with excuses that he then decides are lies and then they start all over.

Jason understands and grabs a chair to sit down across from her. She tells him that he looks great, very healthy. She asks about Robin and if he enjoyed Robin's visit home? She then asks about Gina and if she is a friend of Jason's? When he says yes, she is a bit too happy as she says, "Oh good, I'm glad you have friends!" She realizes how that sounds and figures she is blowing it. He reassures her, but she just wants to impress him as, "You must look at me as just a married woman that is having affairs with younger men and wishing them dead."

Jason responds, "So?" Monica continues to thank him for coming, thank you for trying. Just as they seemed to be making a connection, Dorman entered, sauntered to the table and snips, "You just can't seem to keep your hands off of younger men!" Dorman continues to be Dorman, violating the restraining order against him to stay away from her. Jason has had enough and slams Dorman's head to the table and threatened to break the surgeon's hands. Monica begs Jason to stop it.

After Dorman swaggers off, Monica covers her mouth in horror at how calmly, how professionally Jason took him down. Jason asks her if Dorman has harassed her before. She says yes, that is why they got the restraining order. Jason tells her to have Alan hire a bodyguard. She thanks him for his help but tells him he can't attack someone like that, it is wrong. He says he has to go. She says that she isn't trying to tell him what to do, his pager goes off and he tells her he has to go. She thanks him for coming.

Harry has kidnapped Brenda and taken her to a cave. He calls Sonny and tells him he has Brenda and gives her the phone. She begs Sonny not to do what Harry says as he plans on killing them both! Taggert is questioning (read harassing Sonny) down at the PCPD. Mac and Jason come in and Mac wants to know what is going on? He tells Taggert that if he ever has righteous charges against either Jason or Sonny that he will back him but if he uses the department for his own personal vendetta that Mac will have him suspended.

After they leave, Sonny makes an excuse to go see Brenda. Jason knows Sonny is lying and wants to know why. Sonny is stern and tells him it’s for his own good. Jason goes back to the courthouse, but Alan and Monica have left. Sonny has joined Harry and Brenda in the cave and Harry is holding a gun on him. Sonny tells Harry that he was responsible for killing Lily and her baby and it has twisted Harry and driven him crazy.

Jason heads to GH to talk to Rebecca Chase, who is polite till she realizes who he is.  He says, "If the God you worship comes in a stack of $100s, shouldn't you be swearing on a pile of cash instead of the Bible?" Dorman comes by and Jason says he should have hurt him worse.  Alan comes by and says by rights he should throw Jason out, but "as Chief of Staff I preserve the right to protect certain harassers whose hearts are in the right place." Alan also tells Jason that Robin's first set of labs look good. Jason thanks Alan for his news about Robin.

Jax shows up and demands to know where Sonny is? When Jason queries why he should tell him, Jax attacks Jason. He demands to know if Sonny has taken Brenda and if he is behind the threats against Brenda? Jason says that Sonny is the last person who would ever try to hurt Brenda. Alan says that Jax is worried about his wife and if Jason knows something he should tell Jax. Jason confesses that Brenda is with Sonny that he left to get her last night (Jason doesn't yet know about the kidnapping).

Meanwhile, Sonny tries to get Harry to release Brenda. He points out that if Harry kills Sonny that he will most likely be declared a local hero. But if he hurts Brenda that her friend, the police commissioner, will be after him and her rich hubby will be putting a bounty on his head! Harry slips up that he was the one who had Sonny shot up and Sonny realizes that Harry is the one bringing the smack into PC. Sonny asks how he can live with himself when kids are dying? Harry brings up that Sonny hurt Lily and caused her death, Harry doesn't care what happens to himself and says that he has the place rigged with explosions and he is holding the detonator!

Jason delivered groceries to Carly, who is still making excuses for not leaving the house. They talk and eventually she tells him about how much Bobbie upsets her. Jason points out that Carly's got the doc and that their relationship is solid, right?  She's won the game so what's the problem?  He almost convinces her to come to Luke's and play pool with him but she backs out and insists she has to stay home and cook dinner for Tony.

Down in the cave, Harry and Sonny are grappling around after the gun goes off and Brenda screams. She sees them standing together and picks up a rock to hit Harry with but before she can do so, he falls to the ground, bleeding. Harry reaches for the detonator and sets off the explosion. Rocks fall and the only entrance, the tunnel, is blocked off by fallen rock. Harry is dead. Brenda and Sonny make sure each other is okay, and Sonny goes to bury Harry.

Miranda and Jax show up at Luke's and they tell Jason that they think Sonny and Brenda are in trouble. Jason plays it cool, Mike is worried sick. Jax apologizes to Jason for roughing him up and Miranda points out the letters. Miranda notices that in the dear John letter that Brenda left for Jax, she has started four lines with the letters HELP and has set them off from the words just a bit. Jason still plays it cool.

Jax asks if they have seen Sonny? Mike says no and that Sonny should have shown up with the paychecks. Jason tells them that the last time he saw Sonny was down at the PCPD with Taggert. Jax thinks that Brenda was used as bait to get to Sonny. Jax calls Mac and tells him that he was right about the letter and that Sonny and Brenda are being held hostage. He thinks Taggert knows more than he is telling.

Mac brings Taggert down to Luke's. Jason tells them about the day at the PCPD, when Sonny received a call and rushed out. Mac gives Taggert hell, and says he's surprised he didn't have the call traced. Taggert pulls his notebook out of his pocket because he did have it traced, to a flower company. Jason obviously recognizes this name, and though the camera caught it, no one else did.

A cop drags in a handcuffed Jason, fighting with a handcuffed Mr. Franklin who is screaming about Jason assaulting him and demanding the handcuffs are removed. Jason reports that Franklin knows who made the call to Sonny, as he is a front. Jason recognized the name of the flower company. Franklin denies it, and says, "The kid's a mental case, I want to press charges." Jason says the guy is a loan shark and fronts for whoever pays him, so he knows who placed the call.  Franklin, "I'm telling you, he's nuts."  Jax attacks Franklin.  Mac pulls Jax off the handcuffed man whispering, "Stop!"

Mac wants to know who has Franklin's phone, "If you can't tell me, I just may put you in a holding cell with Mr. Morgan and Mr. Jax here and see if they can't get it out of you."  He admits it was Harry Silver.  Mike asks Jason about Harry?  When he isn't forthcoming, Mike insists that Jason must tell all so they can help find Sonny. So Jason tells about Harry and Rivera, he says Harry must be crazy to come back to town. The only reason Sonny let him go was because Lily liked him. Franklin tells them where the office is and Mac finds a judge for a search warrant.

They find Harry's journal and Jax reads aloud from it as Harry rants about burying Sonny like Lily. When Mac finds out where the cab dropped Sonny, Jason tells him about some caves near there. Over Mac's objections, they all head out to search. Mac and the gang arrive at the cave-in site. When Jason convinces everyone that Harry wanted Sonny to die slowly and not in the cave in, Jax franticly looks for a back entrance to the cave. He begins shouting for Brenda.

Sonny is awakened by Jax's shouts from above. He has some trouble waking Brenda up. When she hears Jax yelling, she shouts back for him to come get them. Jax yells that he loves her and leaves to get help. Sonny grimaces and says, "We're gonna be all right. Mac, Mike and Jason are there with emergency personnel, debating how to dig to the cave. It is pointed out that the city never surveyed this area. Mac asks Jason to draw a map. He says he can't. Mike yells at him and says that Sonny wouldn't care that he's telling. Jason says that's not it, he can't picture it. Mac is understanding and moves on to Plan B.  Mike comes over to Jason and Jason asks him "What comes next, after 'Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread'?" Mike tells him and they begin praying together. Taggert interrupts them, being his usual obnoxious and rude self, and Mac comes over and puts him firmly in his place.

Jason paces off and finally shows them where to dig. Sonny yells up that they're in the basement, and Mike starts to panic. They ask if Harry is there? Brenda yells "Harry's dead!" She turns to Sonny and says, "They know Harry did it." Taggert gets in Jason's face again, and Jax says, "Mac, could you call off this idiot?" The earth moves, giving everyone a whole new set of problems to worry about. The room they are looking for is the one next to where Sonny and Brenda are. The room is called, "The Shower," so named because water seeps into it. They are trying to find a room next to them so that they can dig a vertical tunnel and then tunnel through.

Down in the cave, a claustrophobic Sonny is having trouble, "It's like breathing through a pinhole." Brenda comes to him and holds his hand and he says it's okay. Jason continues to pace as he marks off the distance, and people are getting impatient with him. Finally, he says, "It's here." Then the earth gives way and he falls in. A bunch of dirt and rocks falls through. Sonny throws Brenda to the ground and covers her. They drag Jason out, and he refuses any medical treatment. Sonny yells up that they broke through and he sees a hole. Sonny starts trying to move rocks from the short horizontal tunnel that leads from their room to the vertical tunnel. Taggert starts up again, and Mac threatens him, "You're gonna get that fist you were looking for, and I won't be assaulting an officer because you'll no longer be one."

Brenda goes into the tunnel with the lantern she insists because she is smaller and not claustrophobic. Initially, he agrees but then as she is farther in, he says "You know what? Come back." She says, "You know what? I'm already there." Jax hears this and yells for her to go back because the earth is not stable, and Sonny says, "You heard him." So she backs out and hurts her hip again. When she cries out in pain, Jax says he's going down after her.

Brenda tells Sonny that it's blocked. He asks if she's hurt her hip again, and she says yes, but her hip is the least of her worries. Jax has a rope to hold onto but falls into the hole, and the earth moves again. They drag him up. Jax yells for Sonny and tells him to come through. Jason says quickly, "He can't. Don't ask him." Everyone wants to know why, and Jason quickly clams up because he knows that Sonny doesn't want the cops to know about his claustrophobia.

Sonny begins to crawl through the horizontal tunnel. Brenda is behind him, still in the cave, and he starts to have trouble. "The air's right in front of you, honey, it's not that far," she says, continuing to call his name, and he doesn't answer. The earth moves again, and he lies there and tries to shelter himself and looks out helplessly as Brenda yells for him to come back. He still doesn't answer her, and she continues to talk him through it, telling him that he has beaten everything that ever hurt him. He beat Harry, he beat Rivera, he beat his depression over losing Lily and losing her, and finally she gets desperate. "You beat Deke, right?"

Finally he answers and says he's okay. He breaks through the tunnel and looks up the vertical one. They talk to him and tell him that they will send down a harness, but they can only get one shot. They emphasize this over and over and we shake our heads at how stupid the writers must think we are. He says he will go get Brenda.

Jax is shining a flashlight down the vertical tunnel, and Sonny is back in the cave, trying to convince Brenda to be the first one out. "Can't you just do what I want, just for once?" he asks, and she

smiles and says, "You always say that." He puts the harness on her, but she turns around to face him and says, "I know that you can't make it through the tunnel by yourself, so just please come with me right now." He agrees.

They crawl through the tunnel, Brenda in front, and they reach the vertical tunnel. They pull Brenda up, and she looks down at Sonny the whole way. They get her out, and just then the earth shakes yet again and dust and rocks fall down on Sonny, who is still in the vertical tunnel. Brenda yells and screams and clings to Jax and stares down at the hole where Sonny was. "WHAT ABOUT SONNY?" she demands, and she starts screaming when no one seems to want to deal with it. Until she starts to break free from Jax as if she is going to dive into the hole herself, and then Jax pushes her aside. "Get him!!" she cries hysterically.

Jax pulls Sonny up. Brenda is still hysterical. They get him out, and he lies on the ground, totally exhausted. Jason hovers over him, along with Mike. Sonny gripes, "What the hell are you doing, telling people where this place is?" and pulls Jason down to embrace him and laugh. Then he lies on his back, not caring who hears, and yells, "Where are you, Deke, you bastard! I'm alive, and you're still dead! Whooo!!!" Then he looks over at Mike and asks, "Where ya been, Pop? You look like hell."

The ground rumbles and Mac orders everyone to leave the area as the mine is near collapse. Mike and Jason hobble away with Sonny between them, staring intently at Brenda in front of him, being carried away by Jax. Jason and Sonny talk about how they were able to track down their location.

Taggert shows up to make some smart remarks about how convenient it is that Sonny is blaming Harry for the drug traffic in Port Charles. Mac tells Taggert to go back to the station while he still has a job. Mac suggests that Sonny not to antagonize Taggert. Sonny comments, "My breathing antagonizes him."  Mac replies "Exactly." While the paramedics tend to Jason, Sonny asks Jax how Brenda is doing and they agree that they are even on the life saving deal.

The walking wounded, Sonny and Jason, are waiting for treatment in the ER waiting room. Jason just wants to go home and get some sleep. Sonny tells him that he has to wait for x-rays. Sonny is glad that Jason did tell them about where the cave was. Jason admits he almost didn't because Sonny asked him to stay out of it but Mike pointed out that Jason should do anything he had to save Sonny.

Mike walks up, obviously in paternal panic mode, ranting that he can’t get a room for Sonny. Brenda is then wheeled in on a stretcher with Jax attached to her hand. She says she feels fine but that she has re-injured her hip. Jason goes to get stitches.

Meanwhile over at the boathouse, AJ finally tells Keesha that he was driving the night of Jason's accident. Keesha has called Jason and asked to see him. He shows up at the Quartermaine's and wants to know what the emergency is? She tells him that she knows that AJ was driving not Ned. He says, "So?" She demands that for once in his newborn life that he feel something, she wants him to care! Keesha feels guilt that Jason is hurt because of her. "Why?" he cuts to the chase. "Is this about you?"

She says that she knew AJ was drinking and she had lied and covered it up. She says if she had told the old Jason the truth and not covered up AJ's drinking that maybe Jason would have gotten through to AJ and the accident wouldn't have happened. He points out that then he wouldn't have been born. She tells him that AJ is still drinking that he feels tremendous guilt as the family made him cover up his responsibility for the accident. He asks if she really thinks she could have made a difference. She says Jason can help AJ, and she wants Jason to talk to him.

Jason sighs, as he is tired of being approached to fix the Quartermaine problems. He tells her that he can't help, as AJ doesn't want him, he wants his brother. She says she knows that Jason doesn't love AJ but, "If you were out walking on the beach, and you saw A.J. drowning, would you try to save him?" This confuses Jason, who doesn't do analogies and honesty says that he doesn't know, as AJ isn't drowning taking her question literally. He agrees to try though he is sure he won't be able to help, still not understanding how his presence does comfort his family.

In the boathouse, AJ had told Emily that he was through with the booze. It's over as he tries to convince himself that it wasn't the liquor that was messing him up but the lies. He says he feels like a boulder is off his back now that the truth is out. Young Emily calls him on this and points out that he is still an alcoholic. Jason comes in and Emily leaves them alone. AJ wants to know why he is there? Jason honestly says he doesn't know, that every time he comes to the Q's he regrets it. Jason tells him that Keesha was very upset and called him.

Jason tells him again that he forgives him. AJ tells him that he doesn't need Jason Morgan's forgiveness, he needs his brother's forgiveness and he will never get that. Jason asks if that is why he drinks because of what happened to his brother? AJ tells Jason, "I drink, therefore I am." Jason suggests that he drinks because he's addicted. AJ argues with him and Jason gets up to go saying, "I told her this wouldn't do any good." AJ stops him and asks him not to go.

AJ tells him he is sober, but every time he comes out of the fog is that everyone is disappointed in him and he doesn't know what to do he feels so helpless. AJ says that some days he feels as helpless against alcohol as Robin must about HIV. An annoyed Jason asserts, "It's not the same thing. She's fighting like crazy against what's in her blood stream. You keep putting poison in yours." Jason leaves abruptly.
