Just Jason #1  November 30, 1995 - May 28, 1996 – 8 hours

At the Quartermaine's, AJ says, "Boy, this has been a Hell of a day, huh?  DWI hearing, and then a funeral."  Edward huffs: "The only funeral you'll be attending is your own if you don't get a move on.  Pete Crater is not a man to keep waiting."  AJ, puzzled, says, "Last night you said this hearing is just a formality."  Edward growls "Do You Have Any Idea what it's cost me in terms of chits and favors and outright bribes to get you a closed hearing before a sympathetic judge?"  Alan weighs in, "Then don't do it!"  He would like AJ to take his chances with a grand jury.  But Edward doesn't want to see a Quartermaine serving two to four years in prison.  Alan comments,” Sure, when he could be so much more comfortable under your thumb!"  He would like AJ to take responsibility for his actions. AJ "will be made to pay one way or the other, so choose very carefully."  AJ looks at Alan as though he were nuts, and says that Alan would like to see him in prison!  Monica also wants AJ to take responsibility.  Edward and AJ get into it, and Jason blows his top, "CAN WE NOT! DO THIS?"  Jason just lost a friend to AIDS and this is trivial.  Edward should stop yelling about all the favors and strings he's pulling, AJ should stop whining, "You are a lucky man, AJ.  Suck it up, and live with it."  He leaves.

Jason arrives at the Gatehouse with some pizza. He's not doing Charles Street work (or studying, or anything). Emily pops in with the news of AJ's verdict.   She's puzzled because Ned seems to believe that one law for the Quartermaines and another for everyone else is the Natural Order.  Jason and Emily go off to play catch with Raoul. Jason comes by the Scorpio residence and asks Robin to go out for dinner and a movie  (this is their first scene together after the funeral, the actual going out never happened on screen). Jason arrives at the Foundation, and gets jealous after finding AJ and Keesha alone together. After a few jabs at each other, AJ leaves. Jason lets Keesha know he is jealous, but then softens and says that he is glad she can be there for AJ. They then profess their eternal, undying love for each other, and lock lips.

It's Christmas at GH, everyone carols and gathers around for Tom's version of the Christmas Story. Back at the Q's, Emily, AJ, Jason, and Ned beg Alan to break family tradition and do a double loop in the train track; Alan has to be coerced to agree! Cute scene as the Q's celebrate one last happy Christmas together. Ned sings "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" as a montage of GHers is shown.

When Jason comes into the Foundation, he finds Keesha is in tears.  She is upset over an encounter with a drunk AJ. Jason is ticked when she tells him she has caught AJ drinking twice before and AJ begged her not to tell the family.  Jason berates her for being an enabler and then he storms off home to confront AJ.  They fight and then Edward and Ned come in, the fight gets physical, with a crystal glass narrowly missing a horrified Emily, who runs off for Alan and Monica.  They all argue, with AJ stubbornly drinking straight from the decanter.  Alan tries tough love (get into a program or get out) and AJ storms out with Jason right after him.  AJ gets into Lois' new car, and Jason jumps right in after him into the passenger seat. At the Gatehouse, Ned hears a crash and runs outside.

Ned arrives at the scene of AJ's car crash and finds Jason unconscious on the ground. AJ awakens, but Jason appears badly injured. Ned sees that AJ is drunk and quickly drags him away. Ned gets AJ back to the gatehouse and calls an ambulance for Jason. Afterwards, he gives AJ a shot, right in the kisser, knocking him out.  He calls Reginald and tells him to come to the gatehouse immediately but tell no one. Ned asks Reginald to keep AJ out of sight and not let him see or talk to anyone. Ned tends to Jason as the ambulance arrives. When the police arrive, Ned tells them he was driving. He gives his bogus explanation to the police, Reginald appears, having apparently secured AJ in the other room, and Ned tells him to relay the story to the Q's while he heads for GH. Reginald interrupts and gives the Q's the news about Jason.  When he's asked about AJ, he doesn't quite lie by saying "they" didn't find him.

The next morning, AJ straggles on down to the main floor of the studio. He is out of it and doesn't remember a thing. He wakes up Reginald, who is asleep on the couch, asking what Reginald is doing there and what he himself is doing there. Reginald gets on his feet and tells AJ to take a shower and lots of coffee. When AJ tries to leave, Reginald blocks the way. Reginald won't tell AJ anything, as per Ned's instructions, but lets on those things are very bad.

Jason is taking to GH, and Tony is in charge of Jason. Jason is in a very bad way, shape and they won't know for another three days, if he lives that long, if his brain will start functioning again. Ned is keeping up the cover story that he was driving. Monica and Alan are crushed. They are also very worried about AJ and what happened to him. They go into Jason's room to watch vigil. Monica starts reminiscing, starting with how she had said, "No child of that woman will live in my house." (That woman was Susan Moore, Jason's Mom, Tracy's enemy, Alan's mistress. Then Jason got sick and stole his way into her heart.) Alan looks very pained and tells Monica that she is as much Jason's mother as if she actually carried him.

Ned tells AJ that he may have killed his brother. AJ is shocked and just wants to get to the hospital. Ned stops him, a brief struggle occurs and Ned fills AJ in on the cover story and then tells him how bad off Jason is. Ned spells out the rules to AJ: No more drinking, No more tears, No saying sorry. AJ is not to do *anything* that will take some of the attention away from Jason's crisis. AJ is puzzled why Ned is taking the rap. Ned says in honor of Jason since he always defended and looked out for him, for Monica's sake so she shouldn't lose both sons and for family honor.

AJ gets to the hospital where he tells his parents the cover story. He gets to spend a few moments with Jason. Keesha arrives to see Jason full of worry and anguish. Robin also visited and sat by Jason's bedside. Keesha told a comatose Jason that she needs him.  A.J. fought the urge to drink again.  At GH Bobbie explains to Ned that Jason's blood pressure is plummeting; he's gone into neurogenic shock. Tony wanders in and Ned wants to know what's being done.  Tony tells him the drugs Jason is on but it doesn't mean anything to Ned; he's frustrated by the lack of answers and the medical jargon he doesn't understand. Tony says that Jason suffered massive head trauma and his chances for a full recovery are slim to none.  Long-range prognosis could be either complete recovery or the he could end up with severe brain damage.

Jason seems to be responding to the new drugs he's being given.  Ned pours his heart out to the still unconscious Jason and tells him how much he loves him. Jason crashes while Ned is in the room. Tony and Bobbie tell Alan and Monica that Jason is starting to stabilize. The family is thrilled when Jason flickers his eyelids and opens his eyes even though he isn't fully conscious. A.J. spends the night with Jason. AJ begs Jason to come back; Jason moves his hand and opens his eyes again. Jason responded to him by moving his hand and opening his eyes a bit.
While Robin rambles to Jason, he suddenly turns his head toward her. When she asks him to squeeze her hand, he does so weakly, and she is ecstatic and runs off to get others. Alan talks to Jason, and he responds verbally but softly. Alan is keeping a running dialogue with Jason, Jason asks what happened?  Alan replies, "There was a terrible accident, but everything is going to be all right.  You, my perfect son, are going to make a complete recovery." Jason looks slightly confused, "Who are you?"  An obviously devastated Alan, "I'm your father."  Jason, not convinced, "Are you sure?" Alan, "yes".  Jason, in a chillingly emotionless voice, "Why are you here?"  Alan, trying not to breakdown, "Because, you make me look good.  You're a straight A student, a varsity athlete, who wouldn't want a son like you?  You're also a very important part of this family."

Later, AJ is talking to a non-responsive Jason.  Keesha arrives and rushes into the room, declaring her love for Jason.  "Welcome back, I've missed you.  I fought with Dad and won. No way would I ever leave you.  Dad finally understands how much I love you and want to stay with you.  We will build the most amazing new life together."  As Keesha is rambling on, Jason continues to stare at her blankly.  Finally he interrupts to ask the all-important question, "Who are YOU?"  Keesha, totally devastated, "I love you!" Jason, in an emotionless monotone, "If you say so."  Keesha in tears rushes from the room.
Lois goes in to see Jason. He wakes up, but doesn't know who she is.  She tells him she's Ned's wife.  Jason says Ned is the one who comes alone, at night. Jason replies that he likes Ned because he doesn't ask him any questions.  She starts telling him about her trip thinking that maybe something will be familiar to him. Jason acts like Lois' story is boring him, but he says it's not as bad as the rest of the family.  They ask questions and get upset that he doesn't remember.  He wishes that the rest of the family would stop visiting.  He also tells her that he wishes Keesha would stop visiting because all she does is stare at him.  Every time he wakes up, she is staring at him.  Lois tells him that she loves him.  He says he doesn't love her; he doesn't feel anything.  Jason goes back to sleep, and Lois, visibly upset, leaves.

Monica visits, he tells her he doesn't know or recognize anyone. Jason begins to look at Bobbie in a new light when she awakens his libido. He tells her she smells good. Bobbie is uncomfortable about Jason's new feelings. He tells her that if she doesn't want the attention then she shouldn't smell like that. Tony has Jason in his office. Jason is complaining about being tired, unable to do his physical workout and not knowing what was going on. Tony explains that there is no paralysis, just the muscles needing retraining. His cognitive abilities are a litte different. Knowledge is there, some reasoning abilities but no memories of how he knows or of people. Tony says he'll call an orderly for Jason and then speak to the family. Jason throws a fit and clears Tony's desk, demanding he be told what is going on. Tony calmly puts down the phone and informs Jason that behavior like that is the reason he is unable to be told everything. Jason is apologetic and Tony lays down the ground rule that there is to be no office trashing. He tries to explain to Jason what is going on. Jason hears but won't listen. A few minutes later, Monica, Alan, Ned, and AJ come in.
They are distraught at Jason's condition. When Monica tries to touch Jason he violently recoils, he yells at her to stop touching him.  AJ is in total denial, he keeps trying to force Jason to recover, to remember.  The Q's keep treating Jason like he is still the old Jason and he can't stand it. They start talking over Jason's head to Tony and Jason complains loudly. Tony agrees to talk to him directly and shows to Jason that while he knows the square of 36, he doesn't remember who his high school algebra teacher was. Tony explains just how extensive the damage has been. The family is shocked at this and AJ tries to talk to Jason. The family members say how can "We" proceed and Jason once again explodes that there is only him, no "we". Eventually Jason is persuaded to rest.  Ned goes to Jason's room and offers his full services. Jason asks if that is supposed to be a big deal? Ned says yep, since he is known as a selfish bastard of a CEO. They are able to chat about Eddie Main, Lois and Edward. Ned forms a very tentative bond with the new Jason.

Jason is released from the hospital and Alan and Monica bring him home to the Quartermaines. Lila beams, "Welcome home!" He looks puzzled and shakes her hand and she introduces herself, and says Cook is fixing all his favorite foods, and leaves to see how it's coming along. Jason says he wonders what his favorite foods are. He wonders who Reginald is.  Edward tries to cheer him up and Jason glares him off.  AJ comes in and tells Jason about the gym. Jason announces, loudly, that he is tired of being treated like a 6-yr-old.  AJ and Monica leave.  Alan offers to give Jason the house tour, but instead Jason wants to go outside. Alone.

Jason returns later and finds Ned waiting for him. Ned gives him directions to his room.  If it has lots of books and cleats in the closet, it's the right one, but if it's pink with a canopy bed, it's Emily's.  They discuss Emily. Ned asks Jason to be nice to Lila and Emily.  AJ returns to try again and offers to take Jason to the club to hear Ned sing. Ned sings "Lying King".  Keesha is all over Jason, he explodes, tells her off, knocks over a table and storms out.  Sonny follows him out, treats him with respect, gives him cab fare and manages not to touch him! The next morning, Jason breakfasts peacefully until AJ saunters in and presses him with how are you questions. Jason snaps at him. Ned arrives and privately tells AJ to leave Jason alone. AJ tries to argue but eventually stomps out pouting.  Jason and Ned discuss Eddie Maine and rock and roll a bit. Jason comments that Keesha made his head hurt.
Jason's recovery has been long and tedious. He's growing impatient about not being able to remember anything and, finally, turns to Ned, asking,
"Please take me to the scene of the accident." Knowing how upsetting this could be, Ned wonders why Jason would even considering doing such a thing. "Why?" says Jason with a sad sigh, "Because it might jog my memory, even if it is painful." Ned figured as much. AJ, who is still having a tough time dealing with the guilt, turns to the bottle to make himself feel better.

Emily walks into Jason's room to exchange pleasantries.  Jason's is not receptive but Emily is sweet, and insightful.  She explains in layman's terms why everyone is so "clingy" to Jason.  Jason may be memory-challenged, but everyone else has plenty of memories, including Raul (the dog).  Jason is rude, but tries to explain his perspective (as opposed to expecting everyone to read his mind), he doesn't know them. Emily tries again to explain the family's perspective, but Jason admits to resenting the person formally known as Jason because Jason can no longer measure up.  Emily recommends patience on Jason's part as the family deals with the loss of Jason.  He needs to give them time to adjust to the way things.  Jason finally shows some kindness towards Em, dispensing his stamp of approval to Emily and Raul (they're OK).  The list of approved citizens now totals four, Ned, Lois, Emily, and Raul.

In the morning over breakfast, Edward teases Jason about eating high cholesterol stuff, and Jason asks why he should care. Lila wants him to be sure to save room for his favorite oatmeal the way he likes it, and Jason looks at the slop and loses his temper, breaking a vase.  Edward says this was Lila's favorite vase, and Jason should apologize.  Lila tries to soothe it over, and Alan and Monica try to make Edward stop, but Edward is adamant.  Alan tries to apologize, Lila apologizes to Jason, Edward is furious.  Jason mumbles, "I didn't mean anything."  Then Jason and Monica and Alan confront each other.  "When are you going to get the message? You're not talking to Jason, you're talking to me." Edward interrupts and gets shouted down by Monica, who asks Jason what he wants.  "Treat me like a grown-up."
Edward responds, "Then act like one."
     Alan interjects, "Back off!"
Jason says: "I don't want a damn thing to do with any of you."
Edward observes, "The feeling is likely to be mutual."  The Quartermaines continue their loving, supportive, familial discussion. Jason asks, "What if your Jason doesn't make it back?  What if he's dead and you're stuck with me?"  He leaves. Edward tells Alan and Monica that he'll kick Jason out instantly if he ever hurts Lila again. When the room is empty, Jason-% comes in and looks at the oatmeal.  Reginald is clearing up and explains, "Nobody actually eats that oatmeal." Jason thinks "the guy" should have told them he didn't like oatmeal.  Reginald explains that Mrs. Quartermaine is a very special lady.  Jason admits "It's not her fault she drives me crazy." Reginald suggests that Jason give Lila another chance, and assures him that "she has forgiven other people much more who deserve it much less."  Reginald thanks Jason for helping clear, he's the first family member in three years to help, and Jason says, "You don't get it, do you?  I'm not a family member." Later, Jason comes in and wants to see Lila alone. He has discovered the conservatory, cut her some beautiful roses, and apologizes.  She is thrilled, and says she'd give him a kiss if she thought he'd take it, but thank you would do. Jason heads to the porch, and looks so lost.
Jason is working out (shirtless!) and Keesha is still not accepting that he isn't her Jason.  She comes onto him; he gets rough with her and scares her.  She runs out, crying, sits on a park bench and has flashbacks to the old Jason and her in bed. Keesha returns, he is unbelievably crass and insulting, he suggests to her that they "do it" and drops his towel!  She bolts, upset. Jason informs Keesha that her kiss didn't stir up any memories, then slips off his towel and invites her to come back for more anyway. Humiliated, Keesha asks him to stop tormenting her but Jason goes on to drive home the point that he feels absolutely nothing for her at all.
Alan and Monica are discussing Jason. "Obviously he's not going to be a doctor. He lacks basic coping skills, both academic and emotional.  I think college is out of the question."  Monica adds that he can't even ride a bus alone.  The Jason overhears this.  Back in his room, with the blinds making "bars" both on the window and in the mirror, he looks through his drawers and finds his checkbook. He finds his backpack and keys. Leaving, he sees Lila and cleverly calls her "grandmother."  Lila is thrilled, and Jason asks her which car is his.  It's the little red sports car.
Jason searches his room at the Q's for his car keys. When he finds them he asks Lila which car is his and drives to Luke's club looking for Sonny.  He repays Sonny for the money he loaned him and then insists on paying for burgers for them. He buys a burger and Sonny and he talk.  Sonny understands that Jason would like to just change into someone else. "You look right through people and they don't like it, especially the Quartermaines."  Sonny is not being nice to "Jason" because of pity, but because of the way Jason "dumped the table the other night."
Jason asks, "What's wrong? Are you brain-damaged?" Sonny tells Jason never to hit anyone smaller or weaker than you are. "Hit AJ all you want.  He's a total jerk."  The cops come in, but not to hassle Sonny. They want to take Jason home. Ned is fighting with Edward over calling the cops. Alan and Monica are arguing with him. Reginald comes in announcing a furious "Master Jason." Jason checks with Ned, "What did I do wrong?" He tells Lila he didn't mean to frighten her. Alan tells Jason that he's not ready to drive the car and Jason counters, "You don't think I can ride the bus."  Edward puts his foot down, forbidding him to drive a car. Jason storms out.
Later that evening, they are all squabbling about whether to send out the cops looking for Jason again, whether to have dinner, etc.  Just then even they are drowned out by a roar that turns into a leather-clad Jason on a new motorcycle, which he rides into the sitting room. In his bedroom at the mansion, Jason talked to Edward.  Edward told Jason that everybody has had enough of the kid's rebellious attitude and it was time to cut the crap.  He told Jason that no matter how he felt, the kid should be able to muster up some common courtesy when dealing with family members. Jason's bored answer was, essentially, "eat my shorts, old man!"

Later on he worked out in the Q gym with A.J.  Shortly they got into a beef over Jason's treatment of Keesha and Jason told A.J. to help himself to her, if that's what all the hassle is about, because he doesn't want any part of her.  Then Jason, who had been unable to get a rise out of A.J., punched him in the jaw.  The two of them mixed it up with a fistfight until Alan burst in and separated the two.  A.J. left and Alan tended to some cuts on Jason's face. In a very moving scene Alan described his feelings of love for Jason and his feelings of loss.  Jason seemed to be touched by it but tried not to show it. He went upstairs and seemed to be okay, but he became increasingly agitated by being surrounded by "the other Jason's" trophies and pictures.

Jason went ballistic and in an uncontrollable fury trashed the bedroom, breaking mirrors, slashing pictures, and throwing chairs out of windows, etc.  Monica came in and yelled at him to stop.  She slapped him across his face, more to break the spell he was under than because she was angry.  He stopped short and they had an ugly exchange. Monica in an anguished cry, "You have destroyed everything I have left of him!" Jason, one inch away from her face and screaming, "HE'S DEAD!!" Then Jason ran from the room and Monica collapsed in tears.
Jason arrives at Kelly's looking a little worst for the wear.  There is a room for rent, and Jason wants it.  Ruby offers him the room, food and TLC.  He takes her up on the first two.  As he tries to make payment for both, Ruby informs him that his money is no good there. Jason insists, and Ruby then informs him that his money is no good anywhere.  Jason tells her, "I'll be back". Monica returns to the empty library, she sits sadly and has flashbacks of her memories of Jason before the accident.
Jason returns home and storms in, "Jason's not back, I am."  Edward, Alan and Monica are suffering through Jason's pounding away in his room as he repeatedly bounces a basketball over and over again, with great intensity. Alan is very upset, as is Monica. Edward is adamant that Jason should not be coddled to and taught that he has to abide by certain rules of standard behavior. Reggie sneaks up a burger to Jason. Jason tells Reggie to stop calling him 'sir'. That night Alan goes up to Jason's room and offers Jason the chance to leave the household after four weeks of physical therapy. Jason says he has no money, but Edward who snuck in tells Jason that the battle of wills is not worth it and that Jason can have his bank account back. Jason tells them to buzz off and that he wants to leave on his own terms. Jason storms out.
Jason awakens, having slept in the shelter of some cardboard and newspapers down on the docks.  He drives his motorcycle over to Kelly's. Jason asks Ruby if he can help out around the place in return for food until he finds a job.  Ruby agrees to this arrangement and goes off to fix Jason a meal.  Sonny asks him when he left the Q house, and Jason explains how he spent last night.  Sonny is surprised that he didn't freeze sleeping outside? Jason explains, "I don't feel the cold anyway." Sonny suggests that Jason go to Luke's and look into a job.  He offers Jason a loan to help him in the meantime, and Jason accepts.

Robin walks onto the bridge where Stone bungee-jumped.  She stands at the rail, obviously absorbed in poignant memories.  Unseen by Robin, Jason watches her with interest. The next day, Jason arrives at Luke's. Mike introduces himself.  Jason is looking for a job, and Mike hires him as a valet.  Luke comes in and "meets" Jason who will start tomorrow. Jason leaves, and Mike and Luke observe that Jason seemed relieved that they didn't know him. Later that night back on the bridge, Robin is looking sadly into the distance.  She hears a noise and it's Jason.  She tells him he doesn't have to go.  He asks, "Did we know each other before?" She admits to the crush she had on him when she was thirteen.  Jason says "This is the first thing I've heard that Jason Quartermaine didn't do right."  He says that "Compared to St. Jason, I'm the devil or something."  Didn't Jason ever do anything bad?  Well, Robin remembers one time he got his hair cut really weird.  "That's it?  I'm desperate to nail this guy and all you can come up with is a bad hair day?"

Jason likes that Robin doesn't act like she's missing Jason while talking to him. Jason, in a black t-shirt, is waiting outside of Luke's when Mike arrives. Mike is trying to figure out why Jason is there in the morning when valet work starts at 3PM.  Mike tells Jason to park his motorcycle in the side alley. While Jason is doing that, Keesha arrives looking for Luke. Mike tells her Luke isn't there yet and Keesha decides to wait outside for his arrival. Jason comes back and demands to know why she followed him. She tells him that she is waiting for Luke and what is Jason doing there? She is surprised he is working there. He starts to go inside when she tells him that Ward House and everything with it burned down and is gone. He is rude to her and she breaks down in tears.

Jason is outside sweeping up, still wearing just his t-shirt, when Luke arrives. Luke is also surprised at seeing Jason there so early. Mike comes out with a jacket. He asks Jason to put it on, Jason is rude and says no. Luke tells him to wear the jacket, its part of the uniform. He talks a bit about the first valet (Stone) and how good he was. Luke then tells Jason to help Mike with the liquor inventory. Mike and Luke banter as they go in, leaving Jason alone outside. Robin comes by and stops short upon seeing a guy's back wearing Stone's jacket. Jason turns and asks if she is okay? She tells him that he looked like her friend who used to work there. Later that night, Robin and he meet up again. He finds out from Robin that Stone was her friend and the first valet. Jason is attracted to her. Neither of them are sleepy and Jason offers her a motorcycle ride, which she accepts. Jason gives her his jacket and his helmet; he can't feel cold either because of nerve damage.

Robin runs into Jason on the docks; she's going to have breakfast at Kelly's and he joins her. As they walk to the cafe, they pass a drunk sleeping it off on top of some crates.  It's AJ!!  Robin is upset and tries to rouse the sleeping drunk. Jason advises her to let him sleep it off, but Robin is worried that he'll freeze to death or something.  She finally persuades Jason to help her and he tosses AJ over his shoulder and carts him off to a car. They drive AJ around so he can sober up a bit and Jason tells him he's going to take AJ to Ned's so he can sober up completely.  AJ rambles on in drunk-talk about how much he loves Jason and about how sorry he is, etc. Then he tells Jason that it wasn't Ned who was driving on that fateful night, it was AJ!  Robin, sitting in the back seat, gets wide-eyed at this bit of news. Jason slams on the brakes and stops the car in the middle of the road!

Jason is storming around on his motorcycle on the docks, popping wheelies.  Robin sees him. He says "you work a lot."  She asks about AJ, and he reminds her that he neither cares about AJ or about the family.  She worries about the motorcycle and he says, "You want dangerous?  I'll show you dangerous." He plays with nearly ending up in the water. This upsets Robin, who starts to cry. Jason stops and asks why?  She tells him he reminds her of her boyfriend who used to do dangerous things, and that he's dead now. Jason seems to feel some empathy and touches her on her shoulders.

Mike and Jason banter at Luke's just before the people arrive. Jason will be parking cars. Edward and Lila arrive, and Edward confronts Jason. As Jason walks away to park the Quartermaine car, Edward calls out to that the car is like a member of the family. Jason gets in and screeches off, treating the car accordingly. Edward demands that Luke fire him (mostly because he's embarrassed to have a Quartermaine parking cars).  Luke, of course, refuses, but Jason quits instead. After he leaves, an angry Luke tells Edward that since he made Jason quit, he must now fill in as the valet, otherwise all the potential benefit donors will just drive off. Edward tells Luke no way, but Lila orders him curtly to do what Luke says or find some other place to lay his head. Luke introduces the band "All-4-One" who sing the whole scene while we get the usual shots of the various club denizens listening.

Robin worries about Jason who keeps tempting fate to put a finish to what AJ started.  He tells her to stop smothering him, Jason IS dead, and then proceeds to worry about her welfare. She throws his words right back at him; he apologizes, and offers to escort her to her car.  She accepts and they trek over to Luke's. Luke gives him his severance pay, and offers to set him up with a construction gig.  It is here that Robin finds about Brenda and begins to fret over her.

Jason is working at the docks when he spies Robin. "What were you," he asks, "a bloodhound in another life?" She tells him, "I sorta got it out of Luke."  Jason wants to know if Edward hit Brenda while he was parking cars for Luke? No, it was a "drunk driver".  Robin gives Jason a hardhat though he won't wear it.  He says the people at the docks want him to wear one, but they will let him work without it. A foreman yells, "Hey Morgan, get to work" and Robin is surprised by the new name, but she says it suits him. He says thanks. On his break, 15 minutes later, she asks him "what's the plan?"

He says "This."  He likes the job, it pays his way and he doesn't have to think.  He says, "Planning for the future is pointless."  Just then a forklift comes by, and Robin runs, while Morgan just sits there.  Robin says she doesn't like his "bizarre death wish. You're so lucky and you don't even know it."  She leaves.  At the end of the day, Morgan takes the hard hat with him. Jason is interrupted on his way home by a gunfight. The shooters kill each other and Jason comes out of hiding, picks up a bag and runs home as sirens blare. The bag is stuffed full of cash.

Jason reports to work on the docks.  The foreman tells him that he is to report over at the loading dock.  When he gets there, Monica is waiting for him. Jason thinks that Emily told Monica where to find him, but Monica tells him that she overheard his conversation with Lila.  She asks him how he's doing and he says he's fine.  She tells him that she made a mistake letting him go.  She wants to get to know the man that he is now. Monica asks Jason to tell her about Jason Morgan.  He's tells her that he lives in a boxcar, he only has a motorcycle, he doesn't look ahead or behind and has none to answer to.  Monica says it sounds lonely, but Jason likes it because he has no one to answer to.  She asks if he has friends and he says one.  Monica says she won't ask anything from him; she just doesn't want to be shut out. Jason decides that she'll always want something more and walks away.

The foreman tells Jason to get to work, but he gets mad and throws a crate into the river then quits. Robin shows up looking for Jason, and the foreman tells her Jason is a lunatic.  He tells her what just happened and advises her to stay away from him. Jason goes back to the boxcar and gets the bag of money and takes off. Robin goes to the boxcar looking for Jason.  She sees a small plant that is growing in a hard-hat and gives it some water.  She sits down on Jason's mattress and waits for him.  Meanwhile, Jason is at the bus station.  He's got the bag of money and a ticket in his hand.....fade to black.

In the next scene, Jason is still in town and has made his way to the bridge and he has been watching over a sleeping Robin, at the bridge. She wakes up, and assures him she is tougher than she looks.  Where was he, anyway?  He tells her he went to the bus station, but then he remembered he hadn't told her goodbye. He also owed Sonny $100 and Reginald $50. He came to the realization that he couldn't leave, he had to stay and fight the Quartermaines for his life.  "They can wreck every job I'll ever have, but they can't make me come back and be their good Jason." Robin comments that he wouldn't have gotten far without money.  He says, "Oh, I have money" and shows her the $100,000.  First he claims to have mugged "the old guy who says he's my grandfather" but she doesn't believe him, and so he tells her about the gunfight on the docks.  She tells him the money is illegal.  He sneers, "Really."  She tells him to stop acting brain-damaged and to take it to Sonny for advice.

Sonny finds Jason waiting and asks how long he's been there?  "I don't know. I don't have a watch."  Jason responds. He gives Sonny the money, and Sonny wants to know who told him to go there.  He's touched that Jason thinks of him as a friend.  He offers Jason a job, but Jason says the Quartermaines would turn up and he didn't want to let Sonny down.  Sonny tells him "The Quartermaines have no power in my world." That was all Jason needed to hear.

Robin quizzed Jason about what happened when he returned the money to Sonny. He told her he got a $50 reward; she suggested they spend some of it on a present for one of the Ward House kids who were sick in the hospital.  He agreed. Jason invites her to meet him at Kelly's. She points out that he might run into people that he doesn't want to see. They make plans to meet for Chinese for dinner, though he laughs that he doesn't know if he even likes Chinese. When she doesn't show up for dinner, he goes looking for her and finds her up on the bridge.

Robin sat alone on the bridge clutching the stuffed toy she and Jason bought for the sick child.  Jason arrived and saw that she was crying.  "What's wrong?" he asked her.  She is devastated by the death of little Jenna, the aids baby from Ward house.  How much more will she have to take?  Jason is amazed that she really seems to be mad.  She tells him that she is always mad, every minute of every day.  Why?  Because she is the kiss of death.  Everyone that she cares about seems to be taking a powder.  Why don't you and I take a powder too? she asks Jason. Then she proceeds to grab the brain-damaged one by the hand and get up on the top of the stone border.  She begins to sway from side to side and. Jason knocks her back to the ground.  He tells her its stupid to take your life. Robin states that she really wasn't going to do it (commit suicide), she just wanted to piss God off and show him what he was bringing her to.  Oh, like losing Stone, your boyfriend? Jason queries.  Yes, like that and like the fact that I'm HIV+.

Jason tenderly kisses her lips, and she gets really mad. Do not use me to tempt death.  Jason shocks her with a thorough knowledge of what HIV+ is all about.  He knows that kissing her is no danger to anyone. He did it because he wanted to feel those trembling, but strong lips against his.  And they felt good, and it made him feel good, and well you get the drift.  She admits that it was nice to be touched/kissed/whatever.  They chatter some more and Jason admits that he's connected to her in a way that he's never been connected before (that he can remember anyway).  Robin is the real reason that he got off that bus.  Robin admits that being with Jason drags her into the moment, and out of the past.  Being with him, she doesn't have to think about what she has faced and what she will be facing in the future.  Its scary, but its nice.  They decide to hold hands and just feel connected.  Robin suggest that she may be moving too fast for Jason, but he grips her hand tighter and say that he wants to touch her.

At Jake's, Carly is dancing suggestively in front of the jukebox to a Melissa Etheridge song. Carly's flirtatious behavior draws the attention of Jason and another man on an adjoining barstool. Carly is obviously attracted to Jason, and eyes him as he watches her dance. She goes up to the bar and stands next to Jason and orders a beer. One of the other guys in the bar asks her to dance. Jason watches them intently. He goes over to shoot some pool, still watching Carly intently, and the looks between them heated. His interest in Carly is obvious yet he doesn't approach her. Finally she goes up to him, "Is this a private game or can anyone play?" He tells her, "Its your quarter". She tells him she doesn't take favors why don't they "lag for it" (I'm guessing this means bet), he leans over and says something in her ear (my guess here is that it is something suggestive not appropriate for daytime!).

They play pool with lots of physical interaction as a music montage. She kisses the back of his head. She tells him he doesn't have much to say, he responds, "Neither do you." Later, she asks him for one more game. He suggests another time, that he has a date with a sunrise. Carly is obviously disappointed. Carly appears at the brownstone with a gift for Bobbie. Explaining that she simply wanted to thank the nurse for all her help getting settled at the Wellness Center, Carly is pleased when her ploy pays off with an immediate invitation to join the Joneses for their belated Mother's Day dinner.

Jason goes to the bar and rents a room upstairs. Carly's there, she stands by the jukebox and eyes Jason. A guy comes up and tries to hit on her, she joins him at a table. She tells the guy she has a sore neck and he starts rubbing her shoulders. She tells him to stop, while Jason is watching their interaction. The guy gets aggressive with her and they have words. She walks away from him. She goes over to the pool table and starts to rack 'em up. Jason strolls over and slams down some money, he asks, "Is this a private game or can anyone play?" She smiles at him. They play pool; she asks him where he went earlier? He challenges, "Why do you care?" She snarks back, "I don't!" She invites him, "Dance with me?" They slow dance to "Nobody Knows". She puts her hands up towards his face; he pulls her hands down and tells her he will see her around. She says, "yah maybe".

Jason and Robin join Sonny and Lily for dinner at the penthouse.  Sonny is making a large anonymous donation and Jason wonders why the gift is anonymous? Robin would like everyone to know how wonderful Sonny is. When the ladies go to the kitchen, Sonny and Jason talk business. Sonny hires Jason, assuring him that he, Sonny, is not afraid of the Quartermaines. Jason will start as a runner. "Like the guy who got shot?" asks Jason.  Sonny tells Jason the main rule, "When you work for me, you're invisible." The women return, and Jason says Robin is cute when she worries (about his manners, in this case.)  He doesn't see what's so special about spaghetti, as he opens the cans all the time.  So when Sonny's gourmet pasta is served, "It's 66, you're all watching me!" (66 Harborview, the Q's address.)  Lily is a bit bothered that she can't cook.  Sonny tells Jason "When a lady gets you out of jail, you dance with her!"  So Lily sets out to teach him, to "Nobody Knows".  Sonny and Robin dance for a moment and then Sonny reclaims his wife.

Jason discovers that he's been evicted from "his" boxcar. Sonny tells Robin that he won't let anything happen to Jason, even before Robin said something. She explains that she is just worried because Jason won't know what are acceptable risks.   She tells Sonny that she knows that what he does is illegal and dangerous, but she loves him anyway. Sonny reassures her that he won't let anything happen to Jason and that he won't bring him in so deep into the organization that he can't get out. They discuss Stone and how she misses him and her growing attraction to Jason and why she thinks that's wrong.  Sonny very poignantly tell her that Stone wanted the best for her including love and that it's okay to have these feelings for Jason. Stone would have wanted her to be happy.

Jason and Robin run into each other.  Robin "shares" her cold drink with him. He then drinks from a hose and points it at her, and she says, "don't you DARE do that!"  Jason wants to swim and she mentions the Quartermaine estate, with their pool and lake. They sneak onto the Q. grounds but the boathouse where the suits are kept is locked. Jason finds the initials "J.Q. + K.W." carved into a bench, and finds out about Karen. They go swimming, Robin with her clothes on so now they are wet and cold.  He gives her his t-shirt, which looks like a classy black dress on her.  They talk about Stone.  She remembers the boathouse party.  "I get sad when I miss him, but I like the memories." Jason and Robin kiss.  Robin says it could be dangerous because she was enjoying it too much.  They dance, and Jason says, "You give me a reason to look forward to tomorrow."

Robin waits by the phone and recalls her recent time with Jason.  Meanwhile, Jason does the same. At last, he calls her to her delight. Jason and Robin chat about Laura's trial and then agree to meet later. Robin meets Jason on the docks; they banter about where to go and what to do.

Jason breaks into his old home, the boxcar as the place to have their date. They talk, kiss, and things get heated, as they get horizontal while making out. The next scene is him lying directly on top of her and kissing her on the floor of the boxcar. She seems ready to become intimate with him or she thinks so. They have discussed safe sex, condoms but Stone pops into her head several times as she kisses Jason. She sits up, angry and frustrated with herself, and she explains to Jason what is happening, and he takes it well.
Jason goes to Jake's, frustratedly shoots some pool. Carly's there in a little black dress. They talk a while, and she says, (about the pool game) "It'll cost you." A quarter."
Jason cleverly asks, "What will?" Jason says he doesn't like games, she says okay. He suggests, "My room's upstairs."
     She responds "Good."
He says, "Let's go." They have sex in Jason's room "Obsession" by Animotion. He tears the condom wrapper open with his teeth. They spend the night together, the next morning he helps Carly back into her little black dress.
The next day, Robin visits Jason at Jake's. She tells him she does have feelings for him and cares a lot about him but she has these old feelings to deal with. She tells him that she thought she was ready for this but realizes she isn't, she feels guilty and she is sorry for leading him on. He tells her not to worry that he has no bad feelings about last night. He says they can just move on, and when it's right it will happen.
