Jason & Courtney #7  November 6th, 2003 - January 22, 2004 - 8 hour original edit

Baby Morgan cries so Courtney goes to check on him. Michael asks to talk to his dad. He surprises Brian when he reveals to him that Courtney isn't his mother but his aunt and that his mom is in the hospital and his dad is with her. He also tells him that his Aunt Courtney is married to his Uncle Jason Morgan. The name sounds familiar to Brian. Courtney comes downstairs. Brian tells her he has to go. He heads to his office and gives a report of what happened that day. He types in Jason's full name on his computer to do a search for a criminal background. He sees Jason's mug shot appear on the screen as well as his arrest record. He realizes where he heard the name before and is worried. Jason shows up at the cottage and surprises Courtney when she opens the door.

Jason holds her and tells her he couldn't really be angry out her even when he tries. He tries to persuade Courtney to return to Port Charles with the children. She tells him she can't do that and tries to convince him that the town is a very quiet safe place to live. Jason tells her that Carly may not want that when she wakes up. A knock on the door interrupts their discussion. It is Brian, the town sheriff, who had checked out Jason and realized he was the same Jason Morgan who works for Sonny. He pretends he doesn't know who Jason is when Courtney introduces them. Jason is not too happy with the guy's presence at Courtney's place. He is polite. Courtney invites him in for coffee and pie. Brian takes her up on the offer. Jason questions him about being a sheriff in such quiet town and how it must be pretty boring. He explains that is why he has other jobs in town like being handyman. He also tells them that he hadn't planned on being sheriff of the town he grew up and had plans to join the FBI in Washington D.C. instead but his father died unexpectedly and he had been the sheriff then and that he took over his post when he returned home for the funeral. He makes it a point to mention that his father was killed in a mob-related hit. Jason gets suspicious of his statement but doesn't say anything. Morgan wakes up and cries so Courtney goes to take care of him. Jason comes right out and confronts him about what he knows about him. He asks him how he knew who he was. He asks if Courtney told him. Brian tells him that Michael mentioned who he was when he talked to him earlier that day. He tells Jason that he doesn't want any of his kind of people in his town after what happened to his father. Courtney comes in the room and overhears them talking.

Jason shows up at Carly's ex night club and threatens Faith. Zander then pulls a gun on Jason. Courtney hears a strange noise at the home and wanders outside to find an envelope left on her doorstep. Inside are old newspaper articles about Brian. Brian sends a police car to Courtney's to watch her, then focuses on a framed picture of a woman and young boy. Courtney learns that the house she is staying in used to be Brian's and asks him about his wife and child. Courtney offers her condolences when she learns that Officer Brian's wife and son were killed by a drunk driver and he rented the house out after their deaths because he couldn't face the memories the house held for him. Courtney learns that Brian's son was the same age as Michael and thanks Brian for the interest he has taken in Michael. Later, when Courtney leaves for some hot chocolate, Brian charms Michael with stories about his son's baseball glove. When Courtney returns, Brian continues to charm Courtney as well.

At the hospital, as Jason watches Sonny sitting beside the comatose Carly, Alan urges Jason to help Sonny deal with the fact that Carly might remain in a vegetative state indefinitely. Alan asks Jason to help convince Sonny that Sonny needs to transfer Carly to a long-term care facility and get on with his life. When Jason gets a chance to speak to Sonny, Sonny refuses to even consider sending Carly to a long-term care facility. As Bobbie, Jason, Alan and Sonny continue to discuss the prospect of sending Carly to a long-term care facility, Alcazar returns to Carly's room. As Lorenzo speaks, Carly suddenly wakes up. Alcazar is happy she is awake and puts his head down on her chest in relief. Sonny and Jason walk in and see Alcazar laying near her. Sonny realizes she is awake. Alcazar leaves the room. Jason tells her that she scared everyone to death when she didn't wake up right away. Jason goes to get a doctor.

A storm hits the town that Courtney is staying in with the kids. The power gets knocked out in the house. A knock on the door alarms Courtney who takes a golf club and opens the door and almost swings it at Brian who is carrying a heavy box. He asks her what happened to asking who is there when someone knocks on their door. Courtney apologizes for being overly protective but that it comes with her lifestyle back home. He tells her he came by with some supplies since he remembered that storms usually knock the power out in the house they are staying in that used to be his at one time. He hands a big flashlight to Michael to use. Courtney invites him in for coffee and cake. He tells her about the house and what he misses about it and his late wife and child. Courtney feels bad about his situation. He tells her how happy he is that she is living in his old house and how she has brought life back into it with Michael and the baby being there with her. She tells him that it is not like her life back home in Port Charles with living in a spacious penthouse across the hall from her brother and best friend. He tells her that she seems so at home in the house here and can't imagine her living anywhere else. He drops his fork on the floor as he is cleaning up the table. She gets down on the floor to pick it up at the same time he is when they end up close to each others' faces. Brian leans in as if to kiss her but she moves her head away and tells him no. He apologizes to her for doing that and that it was inappropriate of him to try and kiss her. She tells him that she knows he didn't really mean to do it and reminds him though that she is married and loves her husband.

Jason returns to the cottage and sees Brian standing in the room when he arrives. He tells Courtney to pack her things and that they are coming home with him now. She looks at him and nods that she will pack. As she goes to pack, Jason tells Brian that he will now get his wish and be rid of his kind from his community now that they are leaving. Brian just smiles. Jason tells Michael about Carly waking up and how they are going home now. Courtney gets a phone call from Sonny. She puts Michael on the phone to talk to Carly. Sonny gives her the phone. Carly picks it up and puts it to her ear but looks confused. Michael is all excited to talk to her and tells her that he missed her but will be coming home soon. Carly listens and pretends she is interested in what he is saying and puts on a fake smile. Michael seems disturbed after talking on the phone to Carly and feels that something is wrong about her.

Jason suggests to Sonny that they wait on bringing the children to see Carly at the hospital because Carly is still pretty weak still and may not be up to a visit yet. Sonny disagrees as he watches the baby in the bassinet. Sonny thinks that Carly needs to see Morgan and Michael to help her recover faster. Jason tries to change his mind but realizes Sonny is adamant about the children visiting Carly and backs off. Courtney comes downstairs with Michael. Michael overhears Jason mention not bringing him over to see Carly right now. Michael protests to Sonny. Michael mentions how weird Carly sounded over the phone when he talked to her yesterday. Sonny reassures him that Carly can't wait to see him and Morgan. Jason motions for Michael to come over and talk to him. Sonny and Courtney watch and beam over baby Morgan. Jason tries to explain to Michael about what Carly may be feeling right now, which is confused and disoriented. Michael starts to understand better but makes Carly a card and thinks that what she really needs is a big hug from him. They all go to GH to see Carly. Carly feels very detached from them. Michael gives her the card he made. She tries to act happy about it and hugs him but doesn't act like herself. Courtney brings the baby over to place on the bed next to her to hold him. Carly holds him but doesn't seem very comfortable holding Morgan and complains to the watches Carly's reaction and becomes concerned. Sonny also notices her detachment from the children but pretends it is normal. Michael tries to stay longer with Carly but Jason and Sonny tell him that Carly needs her rest right now and they will come back tomorrow. They return to the penthouse. Jason explains to Michael that Carly is still very weak and needs to get her strength back and that she was happy to see him. Michael suggests making her another card and leaves the room. Sonny talks to Jason about Carly. Jason gives him his opinion on Carly. He thinks that Carly seemed to be detached from everyone and that he is concerned that even though she didn't lose her memory she seemed to forget how she felt about her kids and them. Jason and Courtney talk about Carly. Courtney agrees with Jason that Carly acted differently than they expected when she saw the baby. Jason is concerned about what happened to her emotionally because of her head wound. He remembers how he felt when he saw Monica after he woke up from his coma years ago and how detached he felt about his feelings.

Courtney is taken aback when she runs into Brian, who says that the Port Charles Police Department offered him a job. Jason overhears Brian informing Courtney and Michael that he has accepted a job with the Port Charles Police Department. Jason warns Brian to stay out of his way. Brian counters by warning Jason to avoid breaking the law if Jason wants to stay clear of Brian! After Courtney and Michael leave, Jason demands to know WHAT it is that Brian wants in Port Charles. Brian insists that had sent out numerous job applications months before he met Jason and Courtney and had received a response from the Port Charles Police Department long before Courtney rented Brian's previous home. Jason remains unconvinced. When Courtney and Jason return home, Jason voices his suspicions about Brian. Then Jason is upset when Courtney announces that she felt Michael and Morgan should stay with Jason and Courtney until Carly recovers. At the same time, Brian meets with Mac. Mac tells Brian that Assistant District Attorney Ric Lansing was eager to hire Brian because of Brian's FBI training. Brian mentions his run-in with Jason and Mac warns Brian against getting involved in any personal grudge matches with the local criminal element. Later, at Jason's apartment, after Jason goes upstairs to check on Michael and Morgan, Courtney receives a call from Carly.

Courtney visits Carly in the hospital. Carly admits to her that she is thinking of the memories she has of her and Sonny. Courtney brings up a few good recent memories of how connected Carly and Sonny seemed when she use to watch them together. Carly conjures up the same memories in her mind and starts to cry. Courtney mistakes the tears as meaning that Carly is starting to feel connected to her feelings for Sonny. Carly tells her that she is crying because she can remember everything that happened with Sonny but doesn't feel anything for Sonny, including love. Courtney tells her not to push herself too hard and to give herself some time to heal first. Carly meets with Cameron Lewis. She tells him that she wants to talk to him in confidence and asks him not to tell Sonny what she tells him. He reassures her that what she tells him will remain confidential. She explains that she can't feel anything toward her husband and children and that she is scared and confused about it. Cameron reminds her that she had a bullet lodged in her brain and that her detachment from Sonny and the children is understandable and that she needs to give her brain time to heal and that she possibly could have damaged the part of the brain that connects memory to feelings and that she will have to come to terms with the idea that she may never get those feelings back right away or at all. She confesses to him that she remembers everything that happened to her in her life but feels nothing for anyone she is supposed to love and that she had dreams of another man who she married and loved and that the dreams are more vivid to her than her real life.

Courtney goes back to Sonny's penthouse. Jason is there. She tells him that Carly is trying to push herself too hard and suggests that he go and visit her since he has gone through something similar to her when he had his car accident. He agrees it may be a good idea. Sonny returns shortly afterwards and checks on the kids. He asks her how Carly was doing. She tells him that Carly is still confused and out of it still and suggests to him that he not push her too much and that Carly just misses everyone and wants to come home soon. Jason goes to see Carly. Carly admits to him that she doesn't feel anything for Sonny and the children but that she has to pretend that she does love them or she will hurt them especially Michael. Jason tells her that she needs to not push herself too much and let her feelings come back in her own time. He advises her not to lie to Sonny and to tell him what is going on with her and let him help her.

Nikolas visited Jason and Sonny to let them know that Faith is threatening his life if he doesn't allow her to use his freight to carry her product. Sonny tells Nikolas to talk to Jason about it since he is too busy right now with other things than to deal with business right now. Jason tells him that he needs to inform Faith and her men that he is under his protection right now and mentions that Faith's last shipment was mysteriously gone from some fire. Nikolas mentions that Zander just has a personal grudge against him. Jason tells him that as long as Zander works for Faith it is business.

Carly returns to the penthouse, she hears Courtney and Michael coming so she hides out near the balcony. Michael has another card for her and he asks Courtney if Carly will be excited per see him when she comes home later. Courtney reassures him that Carly will be happy to be home and that she just needs to time to start feeling better. Jason and Sonny learn that Carly checked out of the hospital earlier. They wonder where she went. Jason thinks she went somewhere to be by herself. Sonny becomes concerned. They return home to find that Carly isn't there. Jason advises Sonny not to put pressure on Carly right now. Sonny tells him that once Carly is home everything will be all right. Carly overhears them talking. She also overhears Sonny talking to Michael and sees how excited they are about her return. Morgan starts to cry and Courtney tells Sonny that she is going to get his bottle and go feed him. Sonny tells her he is going to feed Morgan and for her and Jason to go across the hall and get some rest and he will handle everything.

Courtney argues with Sonny that he needs her help there with both Morgan and Michael there and with Carly's situation. Sonny insists he can handle things and for them to have some alone time. Courtney still argues about how they need her and how Morgan is use to her feeding him and may get fussy with him. Sonny tells her that he can handle it and that he wants to feed Morgan. Jason sees how attached Courtney has become with Morgan and becomes concerned. He tells her to let Sonny do what he wants and for them to leave. They go to Kelly's. Jason takes off his jacket and gets ready to sit down at a table to order. Courtney suggests they eat dinner. Courtney tells him they should go home in case Sonny needs her to help him with the children. Jason tells her Sonny will be fine with them and not to worry. Courtney argues with him that Sonny has never taken care of a small baby before and may need her help. Jason watches Courtney as she deals with Michael and Morgan and realizes she is getting way too attached to someone else's children.

Emily defends Zander to Nicholas and Jason despite overhearing him threaten to kill Jason. She stops Jason from attacking Zander, but later Jason tells both her and Nicholas that he will handle Zander from now on, no matter what they say. Courtney stops by to see the kids, and upon hearing that the Corinthos family is leaving for the island, she begs to keep Michael and Morgan with her and Jason. She disguises her reasoning as concern for Carly's mental state, and hides her disappointment when both Sonny and Michael insist that the entire family go to the island. Brian stops by the penthouse to question Courtney about Jason's business and his possible involvement with the sinking of the Cassadine ship. Courtney says that Jason would never hurt Nicholas because of Emily, and that she will not discuss her husband's work under any circumstances. Brian then presses her about Alcazar, wondering why no one filed charges against him when he kidnapped Courtney. Courtney again tells him to leave it alone, and Jason walks in. Brian asks Jason about Nicholas's ship, but admits he thinks Zander implicated him simply for spite. Jason refuses to answer him, saying he does not talk to cops without his attorney present. Brian then taunts Jason by asking him why he wouldn't report Alcazar after he kidnapped his wife.

Jason threatens to file harassment charges on Brian, who responds by throwing down his badge and stating that he's off duty. Jason pulls a gun and demands that Brian take his badge and get out. Brian leaves, telling them to let him know if they decide to press charges against Alcazar. Courtney wonders if Carly's tragedy may have been prevented if they'd pressed charges earlier. She argues with Jason about the "code" they live by. She finally tells him that she has chosen this life, and can handle the rules, but she needs time. She goes for a walk. Brian finds Courtney in the park, and apologizes for his unprofessional conduct. He misses the days when they were friends. Courtney tells him that they never can be friends now. Their different lifestyles don't permit it.

Sonny arrives at Jason's for his gun. Jason tries to persuade Sonny to wait, to let Jason set up Alcazar's death. But this is personal, and Sonny needs to do it himself. Jason understands, and doesn't get in Sonny's way. When Courtney gets home, she sees that Sonny's gun is missing, and realizes exactly what is going on. Jason tells her they have no right to interfere, that this is the world they live in. Courtney can't live in this world, and leaves Jason. Jason gives Carly a cold, hard dose of reality, warning her that he's not sure that Sonny will be able to forgive her for contacting Alcazar. Needing some space away from Jason, Courtney moves out of their penthouse and into a room above Kelly's.

Jason and Courtney discover that Brian is renting the room across the hall from Courtney at Kelly's. Jason warns Courtney about Brian, and she promises she will say nothing to him. She tells Jason that she wants to be with him, but needs some time. Courtney can't understand how he could let Sonny go after Alcazar. After Jason leaves, Courtney turns on the news to hear that Sonny has barricaded himself in his penthouse. She runs out of the room to Sonny's apartment. She arrives to find Mike in front of the building with swarms of police. She fills him in on what has been going on, and nearby, Scott orders the police to shoot Sonny. Upon learning that Sonny is in his penthouse, Brian tells Scott that he is going into the building to try and negotiate with him. Scott tells Capelli that he can take Sonny out, and Alcazar reminds Scott that Carly is up there too. Capelli, Brian, Lucky, and the other officers ride up the elevator to the penthouse floor, and Capelli orders everyone to shoot Sonny if they get the chance. Unarmed, Sonny walks out of his apartment into the hallway in front of the police and they all take aim. Unbeknownst to the officers, Jason is behind them and grabs Capelli's arm as he shoots at Sonny, causing him to miss. Brian's shot, however, hits Sonny in the arm, causing him to run back into his penthouse to Carly. Jason is handcuffed for police interference, and as he is taken away he questions Capelli on his shoot to kill agenda. Once Jason gets out of the building, he sees Courtney and tells her that Brian shot Sonny.

As Courtney heads to Kelly's, she overhears Faith, gloating to Zander that Faith plans to make a major drug deal tonight on one of Sonny's piers ~ and then Faith will be able to use the money to finance a complete take over of all criminal activities in Port Charles. Faith predicts that all that will be left of the Corinthos empire will be dust. Courtney races to the PCPD to bail Jason out, but learns from Brian that Jason has already been bailed out. When Brian urges Courtney to cut her ties to Jason and be grateful she had the opportunity, Courtney orders Brian to keep his nose out of her business. Then Courtney storms away from the PCPD. Jason visits Courtney at Kelly's. Courtney appeals to Jason to leave town with her, but Jason refuses. Courtney then explains that she overheard Faith bragging that Faith is landing a shipment on one of Sonny's piers that very night that would finance Faith's final takeover of all the mob territories in town. Courtney implores Jason not to get involved in any action against Faith. Jason assures Courtney that he will be waiting for her if she decides to return home, but he must take care of stopping Faith's planned takeover.

Jason meets Nikolas on the docks and sends Nikolas around to distract Faith. As Nikolas talks to Faith, he suddenly announces that they are surrounded by Sonny's men. As Nikolas speaks, Jason detonates an explosive that blows up Faith's shipment. At the same time, at Kelly's, Courtney sadly takes off her wedding ring and puts it in a drawer. When Courtney hears a knock at the door, she rushes to answer it, expecting to see that Jason has returned. Courtney is obviously disappointed when she finds that it is Brian who is standing on her doorstep. He shows her the headline that says that Jason set off a bomb on the pier. He asks her to tell him what she knows about it. She denies she knows anything about it and that she isn't surprised by the headline because someone from the newspaper called her to get a comment from her. He tells her that Jason's life is too dangerous for her and that she should tell him what she knows so he can help Jason. She refuses to tell him anything and tells him that Jason couldn't have set off the bomb because he was with her at the time. He tells her that is not possible since he just saw her in her room right before and doesn't remember seeing Jason return to see her. She accuses him of stalking her. He tells her he isn't stalking her just looking out for her safety. Courtney doesn't budge and sticks to covering for Jason. After Brian leaves, Courtney calls the police station to talk to Jason. The cop that answers refuses to let her talk to Jason since he is being detained and refuses to give him a message unless she tells him what the emergency is. Courtney gets frustrated and hangs up. She heads to the police station in person and demands to see Jason. Brian comes in the room and tells the cop to let her by. Brian accuses her of lying about Jason's whereabouts but Courtney refuses to admit otherwise.

Brian goes into the interrogation room and questions Jason about last night and what his alibi is. Courtney watches from the other side of the window into the room. Brian asks Jason where he was last night at the time that the bomb went off on the pier. Jason tells him that he was with his wife then. Brian can't believe Jason corroborates what Courtney tells him. Courtney gets to see Jason alone to talk. She asks him if he is o.k. and asks him what Brian asked him about. Jason tells her that he told Brian that he was with her at the time the bomb went off. Courtney is pleased that he corroborated what she told Brian. Courtney tells him that even though she has a hard time accepting what he does for a living she wants him to know she loves him and always will and that she never wants to see him in trouble or hurt. Carly shows up to talk to Jason. Jason tells her not to worry about him right now and the main thing to do is to help Sonny get out of this mess he is in. She tells him she has found a way that she can help Sonny but warns him he won't like it. Alcazar walks in. Carly explains to Jason that Alcazar will drop the charges against Sonny. Jason asks him what is in it for him and is suspicious. He tells him that he wants things to be on equal footing between him and Sonny but admits he is doing it because Carly asked him to. Jason doesn't see how Alcazar can help since there were a few cops around as witnesses to Sonny shooting him and taking Sam hostage. Alcazar explains that by dropping the charges, Sonny's lawyers can charge that the police tried to entrap him. Alcazar leaves Carly to talk to Jason. Jason comes down hard on Carly for asking Alcazar for help knowing how Sonny will feel about that when he finds out. He tells her that Sonny will never allow Alcazar to do him any favors. Carly insists she is just using Alcazar to keep Sonny out of prison so he can help her raise their children.

Jason shows up to see Sonny. Sonny tells him he knows about what Carly did and that Alcazar is playing savior again for Carly's benefit and he won't let him. He tells Jason that Dara is too by the book for them to use right now and that he needs a lawyer who isn't afraid to fight dirty and be underhanded for them. Jason tells him he knows exactly who they need for his lawyer but only needs to find out where he is. The next scene shows an older monk talking to Justus Ward asking him if he is ready to take his vows of silence and give up his old life and be celibate for life. Justus answers that he is ready. Courtney returns to the police station and asks Brian if Jason is gone. He tells her he is. He accuses her of lying to him about being with Jason. She tells him that he needs to stay out of her marriage. He tells her that he felt connected to his wife the way that she feels connected to Jason and that his wife isn't around anymore but Jason is and he thought she would want to keep it that way.

At GH, Carly finds Courtney coming around the corner on her way to see them. Carly tells Courtney that Ric told Scott that Sonny is claustrophobic and that Scott managed to get him released today be sent to jail. Courtney tells her she will see what she can to and talk to Brian. Carly goes back in to see Sonny. Sonny suggests that she lean against the door and let him make a run for the door and slam his arm against it to cause further injury so the doctors will have to let him stay longer. Carly doesn't want him to get more injuries and asks him to trust her to take care of things even if he has no reason to. Carly goes to talk to Bobbie while Courtney waits to talk to Brian who is setting up Sonny's transfer to the jail. Courtney asks him for help and insists she doesn't know where Jason is right now. She tells him that Ric told Scott that Sonny is claustrophobic and now Scott is rushing to get Sonny released today. She tells him that she needs his help and that she loves her brother even if he thinks of him as being on the other side. Brian agrees to try and get the doctors to wait awhile before releasing Sonny right away. Brian talks to Scott about keeping Sonny in the hospital longer since his injury isn't healed enough. Scott tells him that he is not doing Sonny any favors and that he is being released today. Brian looks over at Courtney who is waiting in the hallway and nods his head no to the release delay. Carly looks over at Courtney who shakes her head no too.

Jason goes to the monastery to see Justus. He assumes that Justus is there to be a lawyer for the monastery. The older monk tells him that isn't exactly the case and opens the door to Justus' room. Jason looks in and is can't believe it when he sees Justus dressed as a monk sitting on his bed. Jason is left alone with him. Justus stays silent like he vowed to and Jason asks him what is going on. Justus doesn't answer him so Jason tells Justus that he checked up on his activities since he left Port Charles and knows about the kid who he defended in court for murder, which he lost and how he thinks he is punishing himself too much by becoming a monk. Jason tells him that he knows why he is doing this and to him it is just another way of hiding from his life and that no matter whether he takes a vow of silence or what, he can't escape his past. Justus finally speaks and tells him that he compromised his morals too much and that his drinking got so heavy that he ignored the man he was defending and that by the time he tried to fix it, it was too late. Jason tells him that he isn't the person he thought he was if he continues to hide from his life by being a monk and walks out.

Carly and Bobbie show up at Sonny's hospital room. Bobbie tells him that she is going to give him a mild sedative to ease his transition to jail. Sonny allows her to give him a shot but doesn't think it will matter. Later, Jason shows up at GH to find Courtney waiting for him. She tells him to hurry because Scott is going to transfer him to jail right now. Jason and Courtney head over to Sonny's room right behind Scott and some cops, including Brian. Scott comes in the room to find Sonny's bed made up with no sign of Sonny. Jason comes in the room with Courtney. Scott accuses Jason of hiding Sonny somewhere (Carly has snuck Sonny out of the hospital and taken him to France) and orders the cops to arrest him. Courtney tells Scott that Jason just got here and he knows as much as she does, which is nothing. When the cops go to arrest Jason, a voice is heard behind them. Justus walks in and surprises everyone, but pleases Jason when he is dressed in a suit and tie and tells Scott that nothing has changed since he left Port Charles that the police continue to falsely arrest and harass Jason and Sonny on a daily basis.

Brian warns Courtney that Scott is doing everything in his power to have Michael and Morgan taken from Sonny and Carly and declared wards of the state. Meanwhile, Sonny and Carly's relationship starts to heal while they share alone time at the chateau on the French countryside. Jason arrives at Courtney's room to find her packing a suitcase. She frantically tells him that Scott is in court, working on taking Michael and Morgan away from Sonny and Carly. Courtney informs him that she's going to the island to get the boys, and she begs him to accompany her. Jason replies that Justus will stop Scott, and runs off to find him. Unable to take any chances, Courtney calls Sonny's pilot to take her to the island. Jason tracks down Justus outside of Kelly's and informs him of Scott's plans to put Michael and Morgan in foster care. Justus can't stop the court order on such short notice, but he says he'll file a motion to dismiss. However, he prepares Jason for the possibility that Sonny and Carly will lose their children and never get them back. Later, Courtney arrives at the island to take the kids away. As Leticia finishes packing their things, police knock at the door. They barge into the room with a state child services representative who demands the children immediately. Courtney pretends to be their mother and have no knowledge of who Sonny Corinthos is. She demands that they police leave them alone and says they are out of their jurisdiction and cannot have her children. The social worker spots a photograph of Sonny, but Courtney says he must be the owner of the place and that she is only renting it. She also denies knowing Jason, and Michael plays along with her act. Courtney continues to argue with them until gunshots erupt, causing everyone to duck and hit the floor. While they are down, Jason runs in and grabs Courtney and the kids.

Jason, Courtney, and the kids arrive in France. Sonny happily watches Carly connect with their baby. Courtney visits the place where she married Jason. Jason finds Courtney there and advises her that, once Sonny and Carly go into hiding with Michael and Morgan, it will not be safe for Jason or Courtney to contact them in any way. At the same time, Sonny and Carly discuss the difficulties they will face when they go into hiding, including not being able to ever again contact Mike or Bobbie. Later, Sonny and Carly bid Jason and Courtney a tearful farewell. Michael suddenly arrives and asks if Santa will be able to find him if Michael changes his name and moves away. Courtney tries to reassure Michael that Santa will be able to find him, wherever he lives. Sonny has some private time alone with Morgan and declares that he believes it will be unfair to his children to go on the run. Then Sonny abruptly leaves. When Carly returns to the nursery and finds Sonny gone, Carly is alarmed when the nanny reports that Sonny announced that he had some unfinished business at home. Carly concludes that Sonny has returned to Port Charles. Later, Carly demands that Jason get her back to Port Charles as soon as possible so that Carly can testify for Sonny if Sonny insists on standing trial on the attempted murder and kidnapping charges.

Back in PC at the courthouse, Alcazar talks with Capelli outside the courtroom and orders him to take Sonny out if he is acquitted and walks out and suspects Sonny may have tampered with the jury if he is acquitted. Capelli, the dirty cop assures him that he will get it right this time. Alcazar tells him to make sure he doesn't miss this time. Carly and Courtney go to the police station to wait for their turn to see Sonny before the verdict is in. The jury is called into the room and the verdict is about to be read. The jury foreman reads the verdict as not guilty on counts of attempted murder and kidnapping. Scott is stunned and gets upset and asks to know what the voting numbers were from the jury. Detective Capelli waits in the hallway and gets ready to shoot Sonny as he comes out of the courtroom with Carly. As Capelli is taking his gun out of his ankle holster to shoot Sonny, Jason grabs him from behind and throws him against the wall to stop him. Brian is right there and demands to know who hired him. Capelli denies he is working for anyone other than the police and that Brian can't prove he did anything. Brian realizes he doesn't have enough proof to haul him in and lets him go. Jason can't believe that Brian is allowing Capelli to go free. Brian tells him that he doesn't have any proof to have Capelli arrested and that Jason must know that in his line of business since he gets away with a lot as well.

Bobbie has champagne waiting at Kelly's. Mike and Courtney join in the celebration. Courtney keeps waiting for Jason to show up at Kelly's. Carly notices it and tells her that she has a feeling that Courtney and Jason will get back together soon. Courtney can't deny that she misses Jason and wants to see him show up. Ric shows up and comes inside. Carly and Courtney aren't too pleased to see him there. Alcazar shows up outside of Kelly's. Jason grabs Alcazar before he goes inside Kelly's. He tells him to stay away from Carly and Sonny. He also tells him that he knows that Capelli works for him and tried to shoot Sonny today outside the courtroom. He suggests that Alcazar stay away from Carly and that he is now on to what he is trying to do and that he shouldn't rely on Capelli to do the job since he hasn't succeeded so far. Alcazar tells him that he doesn't have to kill Sonny since he already has Carly's love and that is all he needs. An angry Carly yells at Alcazar to leave her alone. Suddenly, she's overcome with head pain and collapses. Jason calls 911, and they take Carly away in an ambulance. Behind at Kelly's, Courtney tells Alcazar that he doesn't love Carly, he's just obsessed. Sonny and Jason take Carly back to the penthouse and her family, and she finally reconnects with them again. Michael senses it and says what everyone realizes-Carly is back. She tells them that she can feel her love for them again.

Jason asks Courtney to move back home, but before she can reply they are interrupted by Faith. Her presence reminds Courtney of Jason's business, and she ends their conversation. She later tries to avoid explaining her marital problems to her dad by taking a break at work, and she runs into Carly outside of Kelly's. She tells Carly that she was mistaken to think that she could handle Jason's work, and Carly replies with the harsh reality that Courtney must accept her husband's life or say goodbye. Later, Faith returns to Kelly's to offer Courtney a hostessing job at the Cellar. Courtney laughs at her and attempts to get rid of her, but Faith persists. Fed up, Courtney punches her in the face and then attacks one of Faith's bodyguards, until she is pulled off of him by a costume-clad Brian who has been masquerading as Santa outside of the restaurant.

Jason reports to Sonny that Faith hijacked their shipment, and that she needs to be dealt with. Ric arrives in the middle of their discussion to warn Sonny that he had better not start another war with Faith. He lectures Sonny on how he received a second chance and ought not throw it away because if anything were to happen to Faith, he would be the prime suspect. Instead, he suggests, Sonny should find a way to coexist peacefully with Faith. Once Ric is gone, Jason reminds Sonny that Faith has no interest in coexisting. Jason also breaks the news that Courtney is not moving back in with him because she can't get over his actions regarding Sonny's shooting of Alcazar. Rather than offer advice on how to fix the situation, Sonny stuns Jason when he suggests to him that he let Courtney go. It hits home to Jason that he must choose between the life he leads and the woman he loves.

On the street, Jason warns Brian, dressed in a Santa suit, to stay away from Courtney. Courtney informs Jason that Brian was just breaking up a fight between Faith and Courtney. When Faith insists that Courtney attacked her and demands that Brian arrest Courtney. Brian insists that, although Courtney threw the first punch, Faith provoked Courtney. However, Faith persists in her demands and Brian reluctantly arrests Courtney and takes her to the Port Charles Police Department. At the precinct house, Brian again warns Courtney that she does not belong in Jason's violent world and urges Courtney to save her own life by leaving. Jason angrily advises Courtney to refuse to speak to Brian and let her lawyer handle the police. Brian assures Courtney that he will try to convince Ric to reduce the charges. After Brian leaves to find Ric, Jason angrily chastises Courtney for risking her life by fighting openly with Faith. But Courtney argues that she only did what Jason would have done in the same situation. While Justus, Ric and Jason argue about Courtney's case, Brian slips into the interrogation room and informs Courtney that she is free to go. When Jason goes to find Courtney, Brian smugly informs Sonny's hit man that Courtney has already left. Jason tracks Courtney down in her room at Kelly's and Courtney begs Jason to train her in self defense so she would be able to help Jason with his work as her brother's hit man. However, Jason declares that he refuses to allow Courtney to change herself in order to adapt to Jason's lifestyle. Courtney and Jason tearfully agree that their only solution is to get a divorce. Jason tells Courtney he was honored to be her husband, if only for a little while. Courtney insists that she is not ready yet to deal with papers and lawyers. After Jason leaves, Courtney breaks down in tears.

Brian shows up at downstairs at Kelly's to find Courtney working there. He asks her if she is ending her marriage to Jason. She tells him that it none of her business and that she isn't interested in dating him. Jason walks in and Courtney thinks he is getting the wrong idea about Brian. She approaches his table to make it clear to him that what he saw with her talking to Brian isn't what he thinks. Jason tells her he didn't think anything about seeing Brian there and tells her he came by to meet with Justus to discuss things. Courtney apologizes for interrupting and heads back to the counter and manages to spill hot coffee on her arm. Brian is right there to try and help her but she waves him off and tells him she is fine. She tells Brian that despite the fact that she is living and working at Kelly's doesn't mean she doesn't love her husband. Brian tells her that it is hard to let go of someone you love and that he wasn't trying to come on to her. Justus shows up. Jason offers him a job as he and Sonny's permanent legal counsel if he wants the job. Justus tells him he isn't interested in being a mouthpiece for the mob. Jason tries to persuade him to work for them but Justus tells him he is reviewing his options right now and isn't interested in working for them.

Carly and Sonny head over to Kelly's to tell Jason and Courtney about Morgan's christening and ask them to be his godparents. Carly tells Jason about the christening later and is surprised when he suggests not going to the ceremony in person since Courtney will want to be there and it may be uncomfortable for her to see him. Carly persuades him to stand up for Morgan as his godfather and that Courtney wouldn't want him to miss it because of her. Sonny talks to Courtney, who is hesitant about being the godmother and going to the church since she feels Jason will do a good job as godfather but she has reservations about herself. Sonny persuades her that she will be a wonderful godmother to Morgan and that everything will turn out all right. Everyone shows up at the church for the christening. Jason and Courtney show up together. Mike watches as Courtney lights a candle and tells her that he knows she is having a rough time right now with Jason but that he feels things will get better and she and Jason will end up together again where they belong and that she could have a baby one day since miracles can happen just by looking at Sonny and Carly. Sonny offers a big donation to the church. The priest thanks him but asks him for help with something else. He explains to Sonny and Jason that every year they have a Christmas party for the poor and disadvantaged children in the community and that each child receives a present and that the truck that delivers each toy broke down and they need a van or truck to haul the gifts for the party. Sonny tells Jason to see what he can do to help. Jason promises to help get it done for the priest. Courtney overhears him and is touched by Jason's generous heart. Faith shows up at Kelly's and overhears Jason talking to Courtney about personally taking care of the shipment (of presents) to go to the children. Courtney persuades him to come inside Kelly's for some coffee. Faith calls one of her men and informs him that Jason is personally accepting a shipment on his own and that they are to follow him and take care of him and intercept the shipment, unaware that the shipment is Christmas presents for poor kids not supplies.

Courtney has dinner with Michael at Kelly's. He talks about Jason bringing toys to the children at the church. Courtney agrees that is a nice thing for Jason to do for others. Carly and Sonny are at G.H. where Carly had a checkup to make sure she was o.k. to leave the hospital after her collapse. She reassures Sonny that she is going to be fine and that she can come home. They stop by Kelly's to pick up Michael to go to the church. A snow storm hits Port Charles and Jason is driving the load of Christmas presents to the church when he sees a woman dressed in white standing by the road as if she is stranded. He stops his car and gets out to help her. As he gets closer he realizes it is Faith but one of her men hits him in back of the head and knocks him unconscious. Faith tells her men to get the product that Jason has in his vehicle and she calls Sonny. Sonny has no interest in talking to her but she tells him that she has something he wants and that to meet her at Pier 17. She makes a remark about Jason moving product on her territory. Sonny realizes she has Jason and he has to go to the pier to help Jason. Courtney becomes worried for Jason's safety but stays at Kelly's with Courtney and Michael. Carly tries to persuade Courtney to not give up on her marriage to Jason so quickly and give it another chance. Courtney isn't sure they can live together and she can't deal with the decisions he makes in his business sometimes. Sonny shows up on the docks to find Zander holding a gun to a tied up Jason. A big crate is there as well.

Faith tells him that he was moving his product on her territory without her permission but that for the right price she will let him have it back and Jason if he will agree to cooperate with her and show her some respect. Sonny has fun with her by telling her to open the crate and that there are going to be a lot of people upset with him right now if that shipment doesn't make it. Faith opens the crate to find a load of toys inside and thinks he is hiding stuff inside the dolls and toys. Sonny informs her that the toys are legitimate and that he was sending them to the church to give to some poor children. Suddenly, a woman screams as she runs down to the pier and to try and grab her young daughter before she runs too close to the water. Sonny grabs the little girl before she falls into the water. The woman thanks Sonny and leaves. Faith lets them all go including Jason. Jason tells Courtney that he is leaving town for a while and that he can't be around her right now since they aren't together and he wants her to have a nice Christmas. He leaves Courtney on the pier. She sits down and cries and feels a hand on her shoulder. She thinks it is Jason who came back and goes to rush into his arms but finds it is Brian not Jason and pulls away. Brian attempts to help a lonely and distraught Courtney. They go to Jake's to play pool in order to cheer each other up, and the pool leads to dancing. Their closeness unnerves Courtney, who can't stop thinking about Jason, and she pushes him away. Brian leaves, and Courtney follows him to a church, where she finds him thinking about his dead family. She offers him her friendship, and he tells her about the last Christmas with his wife and son. In doing so, he reminds her that life is short, and that she should not let the holiday pass her by without working things out with Jason. She gets up to leave, but first lights a candle for her husband.

Michael arrives at Kelly's to beg Courtney to join the Corinthos family for Christmas eve. She hesitates, but he wins her over and is able to bring her home as a surprise for Sonny. While the family prepares for dinner, a gift for Michael from Jason arrives, ensuring that Jason will not show up at the last minute. Michael opens it and calls him to thank him for the present, and Jason speaks to everyone but Courtney, devastating her. She later returns to Kelly's to sit in the dark, alone, and think about her husband.

Jason returns to town and goes to see Courtney. She asks him why he didn't want to talk to her on the phone on Christmas when he called Carly and Sonny. He tells her he didn't think she wanted to talk to him and he wanted her to have a nice Christmas. She asks him where he went and tried not to sound hurt that he didn't want to talk to her then. He tells her he went to Puerto Rico to oversee some of the casinos Sonny owned and make sure everyone working there got a bonus. Jason tells her that it would have been harder to be in Port Charles at Christmas than in Puerto Rico. When Jason seems more interested in knowing whether Courtney called Justus about the divorce, Courtney tries to hide how much pain she is in and tells him she will call Justus on Monday morning. Jason leaves. Courtney goes back inside Kelly's and finds Brian there dressed in a tuxedo. She asks him what he is all dressed up for and he tells her about the casino opening. She remembers it but has no interest in going to it. He asks her to go. Courtney turns him down at first but then decides on impulse to go with him to get her mind off things for a while. She doesn't think Jason would go to the opening anyway. She dresses up and they go together.

When they walk into the casino Jason sees them and isn't too pleased. Sonny and Carly also see them together. Carly sees Courtney and waves to her. Courtney waves back and smiles but then asks Brian to go to another table so they can avoid the stares of her family, who will want to know why she is there with him. Carly manages to find them later and dismisses Brian after making a snide remark about how he was the cop who shot her husband. He apologizes for what happened and tells her it was an accident. She tells Courtney that Jason is here with them and she should go play the tables with him instead since Jason is always so lucky at cards and gambling because he doesn't care if he wins or loses. Courtney looks over and sees Jason and is upset. She tells Brian that she didn't think he would come tonight and that she can't be here right now. She runs out of the casino and Brian chases after her. They reach Kelly's. Brian asks her if she is o.k. She tells him that she didn't expect Jason to be there and realized she shouldn't have gone to the casino and that she isn't ready. Brian hugs her to comfort her and leans in to kiss her. Courtney backs away and tells him she is far from ready to kiss any other man right now. Jason comes over and tells Brian to stay away from Courtney right now. Brian apologizes and leaves. Jason asks her why she went to the casino with Brian when he is a cop. She tells him she went on impulse to get her mind off things. Jason reminds her that Brian is a cop who may be using her to get information about him. Courtney gets upset that Jason is acting all business with her and tells him that when he came over just now she was hoping that he came because he was jealous. Courtney looks over at Jason and asks him what they are doing to each other right now and for what reason. Courtney and Jason continue to struggle with their separation. They both love each other and wish they could be together, but they can't accept the choices of the other. As Courtney cries at Kelly's, Jason hugs her to comfort her and they begin to kiss. They enjoy the moment, but realize that it doesn't solve anything. The two sadly resolve to keep their distance from each other.

Carly calls Jason and makes it sound like an emergency. Jason comes rushing over thinking Carly is in danger. Carly apologizes for calling him like that and overreacting. Jason presses her to tell him what is going on and what she is so afraid of. Carly asks him if he ever saw flashes of white light and have intense dreams along with them when he had his coma. Jason tells her he never experienced those things after his coma. Carly starts to get worried but won't tell Jason exactly what is wrong but that she is afraid that the love she just started feeling for Sonny again will go away and that these flashes may become more frequent and she will lose feelings again. Jason encourages her to tell Sonny what is going on with her when she talks to him on the phone. She calls him but doesn't tell him the truth. He asks her why she didn't tell Sonny and she tells him that Sonny seemed preoccupied with work and she didn't want him to worry about it. She tells Jason that the doctor checked her out and told her that there is nothing wrong with her physically. Courtney shows up to visit Carly and sees Jason is there. Jason tells them he will leave them to talk. Courtney tells him he doesn't have to leave on her account but he tells her it is better if he leaves right now.

Carly asks her about what happened that night at the casino with Brian. Courtney tells her that she accepted Brian's invitation on an impulse and won't be doing that again. Carly tells Courtney that Jason loves her but has a hard time showing his feelings and that he keeps it all bottled inside because he is afraid he will explode if he doesn't. Courtney tells her that she still loves Jason too but doesn't know what she is doing from one minute to the next. Courtney had been working at Kelly's earlier when Jax showed up to get a coffee. He surprised her by asking her all these personal questions about her split with Jason and her goals for her life. She asks him why he is suddenly so interested in her life and he tells her that he would like to offer her a job working for him. Brian comes into Kelly's and overhears their conversation. He says "no way" when he hears Jax offer Courtney a job. Jax turns around and tells Brian that he recognizes him as Courtney's date at the casino opening. Brian tells him he is correct. Jax tells him that just because he was Courtney's date, doesn't he think he is out of line for telling her how to run her life. Courtney points out that they are both out of line. Courtney turns down Jax's offer of a job because there is no way Sonny would approve of it and she couldn't work for her brother's enemy. She tells Brian he is out of line also. Jax gives her his business card and tells her to give him a call if she changes her mind. Jax leaves. Brian approaches her and apologizes for what he said. She tells him that he has no right to tell her how to live her life and walks away. When Courtney returns to Kelly's she finds Brian waiting for her. He apologizes again for interfering in her life and explains about how he didn't want his wife to work for some man and that she did anyway and that she and his son were killed on her way home from work. Courtney feels sympathy for him but thinks he is being too hard on himself for something no one could control.

Carly goes to the park to get some fresh air. She starts to stumble while walking away and almost falls. Alcazar grabs her arm to keep her from falling and offers to help her. She tells him to go away and leave her alone. When he grabs her arm and keeps it there she remembers the kiss she got from the masked man at the casino. She guesses that he is the one who kissed her at the casino wearing a ski mask. He admits he was the masked man who kissed her. He tells her he still loves her and wants her to be with him. Jason watches from the bushes. Carly. She pulls away and tells him that she doesn't want him. He refuses to believe her and says that she needs to stop fighting her feelings. Carly pushes away from him and leaves. Witnessing the entire encounter, but unable to hear their actual conversation, Jason angrily follows Carly back to the penthouse where he confronts her on having an affair with Alcazar. She denies an affair and agonizes over her inability to control her head and desires. Believing her, Jason tells her that she must admit what is going on to Sonny so that he can help her, and especially so that he doesn't find out another way. She refuses, and makes her case to Jason, who understands. Realizing that telling Sonny would be a bad idea after all, Jason agrees to not say anything, but decides to take matters into his own hands and go after Alcazar himself.

Courtney forgives Brian for trying to control her, but she admits that she isn't sure if she can deal with being friends with him. He gets her to agree to the dance that she owes him from Jake's, and they hesitantly enjoy each other until Brian kisses her, frightening them both. They pull away, with Courtney telling him that she isn't interested in anything more than a platonic relationship, and Brian feeling like he betrayed his dead wife. He apologizes to Courtney, and the two sit at a table and talk about their situations. Later, Liz and Courtney decide to mend fences. Having earlier mistaken Courtney and Brian as being more than acquaintances, Liz encourages her to move on with him. Ric tells Brian to pump Courtney for information about Jason and Sonny. Brian points out that Courtney is very loyal, but Ric pushes him to do his job. Brian returns to Kelly's to work Courtney, and she falls for his act. She admits she might be ready to be more than mere acquaintances with him, and the two share a close moment. Jason walks in at this time, and promptly leaves upon seeing them together. Brian asks Courtney out for dinner, and she accepts.

Jason kidnaps Alcazar and holds him in the panic room. Jason tells him that he'll never get to Carly again, but Alcazar merely baits Jason about Courtney. Jason attacks Alcazar, but leaves him alive for Sonny. As Jason brings dinner to Alcazar in the Panic Room, Jason blasts Lorenzo for his obsession with Carly. Lorenzo argues that, even if Jason and Sonny succeeded in killing him, Lorenzo will always have a hold on Carly's heart! At the Penthouse, Carly remains haunted by memories of Lorenzo and confides to a sympathetic Courtney that Jason is holding Alcazar prisoner and Carly is afraid that Jason plans to murder Lorenzo. Courtney insists that she wants to help and Carly suggests that Courtney convince Jason that Killing Lorenzo will not solve the problems that have entangled their lives. Jason suddenly declares that Lorenzo is free to go but must go through Jason first. Lorenzo philosophically observes that if Carly could survive being held prisoner in the Panic Room, Alcazar will be able to survive as well.

Dillon goes to Jason and tries to persuade his cousin to release Sage's Uncle, but Jason coldly warns Dillon to stay out of it. As Brian prepares to meet Courtney at Kelly's, Ric reminds Brian that Courtney is a means to an end which is jailing Sonny and Jason! Ric alerts Brian to Sage's report that Lorenzo is missing and strongly suggests that Brian use his date with Courtney to pump Jason's estranged wife to find out what Courtney knows. Brian argues that he does not want Courtney to get suspicious, but Ric reminds Brian that, as soon as Jason is behind bars, Brian will have a clear field for a romance with the mobster's wife. Courtney is pleased when Brian arrives for their date and happily announces that she expects to enjoy a fun-filled evening with Brian. Courtney explains to Brian that she has had a hart time dealing with Jason's "business." Brian gently reminds Courtney that Carly would have been an accessory to Lorenzo's murder if Carly had not alerted the police about Sonny's murderous intent. Brian is disappointed when Courtney remains mum about Jason's current "job." After strolling on the deck, Brian suggests that Courtney accompany him for dinner. Courtney agrees, but, as Courtney leaves the deck, she drops her gloves. Later, as Faith and Zander stroll on the deck, Jason suddenly arrives aboard the haunted Star, accosts Faith and accuses Faith of beefing up her armed guards because she is planning a new ambush. Faith denies Jason's accusations and storms away. Before Jason can leave, Courtney returns for her glove and spots Jason. Courtney suddenly quizzes Jason about his prisoner.

Jason and Courtney talk on the deck of the "Haunted Star" after running into each other. Courtney confronts him about holding Alcazar somewhere and planning to kill him for Sonny. She asks him if he will kill some guy she decides to date because he doesn't like him. He tells her that he wants her to be happy even if it isn't with him and that he would only hurt the guy she was seeing if he used or took bad advantage of her to hurt her. He told her he couldn't promise then not to hurt or kill the guy. She starts to cry because she doesn't know if she can move on right now with someone else since she still loves him. Brian comes out and sees her crying and jumps to the wrong conclusion. He asks Jason why he always makes Courtney cry anytime he sees them together. Jason doesn't respond to Brian and says goodbye to Courtney after checking to see if she is going to be all right. After Jason leaves Courtney defends him to Brian and says that Jason didn't make her cry because of what he said and that moving on with her life isn't as easy as she thought it would be. Brian takes her out to dinner and then home.

Courtney tells Brian later that Jason doesn't lie to anyone and that he either says the truth or doesn't say anything at all. Later Sage runs into Jason on the pier and demands to know if he or Sonny killed her uncle. Jason guesses who she is and sees that Courtney is around the corner watching them. He assures Sage that to his knowledge Alcazar is still alive and offers to walk her home so she gets there safely. Jason finds Carly holding the gun on Alcazar in Ric's old panic room. He tells Carly not to shoot Alcazar and gets her to give him the gun slowly. He shuts Alcazar in the panic room while he escorts Carly out of the room. He reminds Carly that coming there and almost shooting Alcazar would not help her children or Sonny's lives if she was arrested or convicted of murder. He asks her if she came to kill Alcazar or to rescue him after she tells him that she gave Alcazar a choice to either leave town or be shot. Carly agrees to stay away from Alcazar and go home.

Jason arrives at the penthouse looking for Carly, but Courtney tells him that she took off. Jason is about to go after her when he is stopped by Michael's questions regarding him and Courtney. He tries to explain the situation to Michael, but doesn't go into specifics. He leaves, and Courtney continues to try and help Michael understand why she and Jason can't be together even though they love each other. Jason tells Carly that he tried to call Sonny to tell him that Carly slept with Alcazar. She angrily denies it, but he tells her that he saw her leaving the panic room. Carly continues to deny sleeping with Alcazar, but Jason won't believe her. He tells her that she's betraying everyone she loves, including herself, and she tearfully agrees. She tells him what happened at the panic room, and admits that while she didn't sleep with him, it was Alcazar who stopped it from happening. She says that she can't control her thoughts and emotions, but Jason points out that she can control her actions. She begs him not to tell Sonny, but he refuses to lie to Sonny, and he walks out. Jason then goes to the panic room where he tells Alcazar again to stay away from Carly. He allows him to call Sage and report that he is out of the country on business, so that she doesn't worry about him. Carly shows up at the panic room, and is devastated when she finds it empty and assumes Alcazar has been killed. Jason comes up behind her and reassures her that he only moved him, and Carly breaks down in his arms and begs him for help.

Sage finds Jason and apologizes for leaping to the conclusion that Jason had done something to her uncle, just because Lorenzo had gone missing!! Jason cautions the young woman to stay out of her uncle's affairs. Courtney is relieved to learn from Carly that Jason has not yet murdered Lorenzo. But Courtney is devastated when Carly announces that she is having herself committed because Carly knows that Jason will report to Sonny that Carly visited Lorenzo while Jason was keeping the drug lord imprisoned in the Panic Room of the old Lansing House. Courtney does her best to convince Carly not to take such a drastic step, but Carly remains adamant. Later, when Jason arrives at the Penthouse, Jason is stunned when Michael announces that Courtney is moving in with them while his mother is in the Hospital. After Michael goes to bed, Jason demands to know where Carly has gone and Courtney angrily explains that Carly had herself committed to Shady Brook. Then Courtney accuses Jason of scaring Carly into the asylum. Jason declares that he must stop Carly and rushes out of the Penthouse.

Faith bribed the doctor into giving Carly a hallucinatory drug. The doctor allows Faith to enter Carly's room to talk to her. Faith talks to Carly and tells her she is Courtney since Carly calls her that in her delusional state. Carly starts to see Courtney's face instead of Faith's. Faith tells Carly that she is in love with Alcazar and belongs to him and that if anyone tries to stop her from being with Alcazar, they are not her real friend and she should fight them off. Carly smiles at Faith thinking she is talking to Courtney. Jason isn't able to contact Sonny on his phone and decides to go over to the mental hospital and get Carly out of there. Courtney tells him she tried to stop Carly from having herself committed but she wouldn't let her and took off. Jason tells her he understands she tried and couldn't stop her.

At the police station, Ric tells Brian that he needs to gain Courtney's trust enough to get her to tell him about what Jason is up to. Brian tells him that he doesn't think Courtney will tell him anything about Jason since she still feels loyal to him and her brother. Ric insists he find out something or he will have him transferred out of the department. While they are talking, Capelli comes over and tells Ric and Brian that a squad car picked up a bunch of kids after catching them throwing snowballs at passing cars on the road. Ric doesn't care until Capelli tells him one of the kids brought in is Sonny's son Michael. Courtney is called and she comes right over. When she sees that Ric has Michael held in the interrogation area and won't let him go, she gets upset. She insists on seeing Michael and be allowed to take him home since Carly gave her permission to care for him while she is away. Ric tells her that unless she has written permission he can't let Michael go home with her without Carly or Sonny's verbal consent. Courtney explains that they are both away and can't be reached. Ric lets her see Michael after she threatens to remove him bodily from the door. She goes and talks to Michael. Ric interrupts them and tells her that he is handing Michael over to social services now. She shields Michael's body with her own and refuses to hand him over to anyone and threatens to sue the department. Brian comes in and tells Ric that he has no right to hand Michael over to anyone and that he will help her by bringing in the press to show how he is abusing his power. Ric backs down and lets her take Michael home. Courtney doesn't realize that Brian and Ric staged the whole thing so Courtney would see Brian in a better light and start to trust him.

Brian escorts Courtney and Michael home. Michael thanks him for helping them by standing up to the bad man who kidnapped his mom. Brian looks at Michael and questions Courtney after Michael goes upstairs. She tells him that he doesn't know everything about Ric and that she will fill him in on Ric sometime soon. She tells him she is going upstairs to check on Michael. He digs around Sonny's desk and looks at some ledgers but hears someone coming from the hallway toward the penthouse and quickly hides. Max comes in with one of Sonny's other men and gives him instructions about watching out for retaliation from Faith when an important shipment of Sonny's is due to arrive soon and to call Jason if there is a problem. They leave. Brian goes over and makes a phone call to Ric to give him an update. Courtney comes downstairs and overhears Brian tell Ric that he has an update for him. She asks him what update he has for Ric. Brian tries to cover up his mistake by acting like he called Ric to chew him out for how he treated Michael. Courtney notices that one of Sonny's ledgers is wide open on his desk. She pretends not to notice and act like she believes Brian's explanation for calling Ric. She goes over to the desk and surprises Brian by saying that someone like him is too good to be true and points out the open ledger.

Jason gets to the mental hospital and asks the nurse if he can see Carly. The nurse tells him that Carly requested that she not be disturbed by anyone. Jason gets suspicious and demands to see Carly. Carly's doctor tells him that Carly isn't seeing any visitors right now. He tells her that he is Carly's brother-in-law and demands to see her. He ignores her answer and runs over to find Carly's room. He finds her there and notices she is under some drug and she is hallucinating when she thinks he is Alcazar. Jason tells her he is going to get her out of there right now. She lets him pick her up and carry her thinking he is Alcazar. Jason carries her out of the room while her doctor has security called to stop him. Jason is heading toward the exit when Cameron shows up and tells him not to try and take her out. Jason brings her back to her room and asks Cameron for answers to why Carly was drugged. Cameron tells him that he never prescribed any drugs for her and didn't really want her to commit herself to begin with. Jason tells him that either he or the other doctor is lying and that he is taking Carly out of there. Cameron points to the window in Carly's room and asks him if he thinks it is a good idea when Jason sees Carly put her arm out lovingly and talk to herself as if someone is there with her. Carly hallucinates that Alcazar is there with her and he is telling her to come with him and not to trust Jason. Jason goes in to see her. A nurse comes in to inject Carly with another sedative and Jason walks in. Carly smiles at Jason but hallucinates that Alcazar is there telling her not to trust Jason who is keeping them apart. As the nurse tries to inject Carly, Carly stabs Jason with the needle instead and surprises him as the drug is injected into him.

Courtney confronts Brian about finding Sonny's ledger wide opened on his desk and what he is trying to do. Brian tells her that he cares about what happens to her and he wants what is best for her and Michael. He denies doing anything with the ledger and claims that it was open on the desk when he went to use the phone. Courtney asks him what he was doing talking to Ric and saying something about giving him an update. Brian lies and tells her that it had to do with him telling Ric that he won't allow him to abuse his power and scare a little boy who did nothing wrong. Courtney doesn't buy his story and tells him that she won't tell him anything that will harm Jason or Sonny even if she doesn't like what they do for a living. She reminds him that he is in her brother's home right now and asks him to leave and stay out of her business from now on. Brian leaves.

Jason starts to get weak from the effects. Carly screams and yells to keep them from holding her in the bed. She sees Jason laying on the floor and realizes what she did. She runs over to him and pleads with him not to die on her. Cameron shows up and asks what is going on. Dr. Grimes comes in and tells Cameron that Carly stabbed Jason with a needle and accuses him of not notifying her of how severe Carly's condition was when he admitted her. Cameron orders the attendants to bring Jason to one of the empty rooms and prescribes a drug that will act as an antidote for the drug he received when he was stabbed and that once it wears off Jason should be fine. Dr. Grimes agrees to let Jason rest somewhere. Jason is brought to an empty room. The nurse comes in to give Jason the other drug Cameron prescribed for him to help counteract the effects of the other sedative. Faith, dressed as a doctor comes in and tells the nurse that she has been brought up to speed by Dr. Grimes on Jason's predicament and that she got Dr. Grimes' permission to take over his case and orders the nurse not to give Jason the other drug. Faith walks in and takes off the lab coat. A groggy Jason lays there. Faith tells him she has him where she wants him and that she always liked him because he is the only man who ever really scared her. She tells him she might sleep with him and accuse him of rape and that she will be able to manipulate him into doing what she wants. She starts to undress Jason. He grabs her hand and pushes it away. He pushes her out of the bed and runs out of the room. She calls out to the attendants to try and stop him.

Cameron goes to see Courtney. He tells her what happened with Carly and what she did to Jason under the influence of the drugs. Courtney starts to really worry. Cameron gets a call from the hospital telling him that Jason took off and knocked out two guards in the process. He suggests that they call the police since he isn't safe being on the streets with that amount of sedative in his system. Courtney persuades him not to call the police because then they would have to explain how he got injected with the drug and Carly would get in trouble which is not what Jason would want. She tells him she will go out and look for him. Cameron tells her that usually people who are under the influence of a strong sedative like that will want to go to some place that is familiar to them and where they felt happiness in before. Courtney has a strong idea where he went. Jason shows up at their old hideaway. Courtney shows up and calls to him. Jason doesn't answer her at first. He comes out of the bathroom while she is sitting on the bed, concerned for him. He walks over to her. She hugs him in relief when she sees he is safe. He starts to kiss her passionately and tells her how happy he is to see her.

A drugged Jason stumbles around his loft as Courtney tries to get through to him. He kisses her and tells her he loves her, and then tries to leave, but can't walk. Courtney continues to attempt to help him and he finally begins to come out of his drugged state. Cameron calls them and tells Jason that he saw Faith in Carly's room at the institution. Jason and Courtney take off to rescue Carly. Jason and Courtney show up to find Faith drugged and in a straitjacket in Carly's bed. As they try to get her to tell them what happened, an unseen Alcazar carries Carly out of the hospital. Faith tells Jason and Courtney that Alcazar took Carly from the hospital. Jason orders his men to find Alcazar. When the hospital guards show up, Faith begs them to let her go, but Jason and Courtney play along as though she's really the patient ready for a transfer to Ferncliff. They go back to the penthouse to meet with Justus in order to tell him they had Faith committed and that its his job to keep her there. Justus says he'll do what he can regarding Faith, but points out to Jason that it seems that Alcazar actually rescued Carly rather than kidnapped her. Cameron comes by to sign release papers to clear Carly from Shadybrook, and they realize the effects of the drugs that Carly is on. Jason and Courtney worry that Carly might sleep with Alcazar in her state, and Jason thanks Courtney for helping him while he was drugged. He tells her that he understands why she left, but that he loves her and always will.

At the penthouse, Courtney is alarmed when Jason calls off the search for Carly, commenting that he is not sure Carly wants to be found. When Courtney defends Carly, Jason suddenly demands to know why Courtney let Brian into her life. Courtney hesitantly admits to Jason that she has no feelings for Brian, but was trying to have feelings because she knew that she was supposed to be moving on with her life. Jason admits that he would like for Courtney to come back to him. But Courtney confesses that she cannot return and accept Jason's way of life. Just as Jason begins to kiss Courtney, his cell phone rings and Jason rushes away to take care of business. Michael confides to Courtney that he overheard her conversation with Jason and is happy that they are getting back together again. Jason meets with Nikolas and Lucky on the Docks and reports that Ben followed Sonny and Samantha to Azure Key but that Jason couldn't get a message to Sonny because communications to Azure Key have been knocked out by a hurricane. Jason leaves when he gets another call. Carly tells Lorenzo that she is determined to go home and Carly gets dressed. As Carly is about ready to leave, she suddenly collapses and Lorenzo catches her. Just as Lorenzo catches Carly, Jason bursts into the door with his gun drawn. Carly jumps in front of Lorenzo and begs Jason not to shoot!

Outside of Kelly's, Courtney is in a very good mood. Brian comes over and says hello to them. He asks Michael why everyone is so happy. Michael tells Brian that Courtney is happy because she is getting back together with Jason. Brian can't hide his dismay but puts on a smile for Michael's benefit. Courtney asks Michael to go inside Kelly's and get them each a cupcake and she will be right in. Brian asks her why she would even consider getting back with Jason knowing he is a hired killer. Courtney doesn't have an answer for him. The last scene is of Carly and Alcazar as he makes her promise to never check herself into Shadybrook again, they are about to leave and Carly stumbles and Alcazar reaches out to grab her, just as Jason bursts through the door with his gun drawn. Carly cries out "no!" at the site of the gun and her hand defensively reaches up to her temple in fear (to protect where she had been shot before).
