Bo & Hope #76 August 17 - December 18, 2009:
8 hour original edit
DVD #76A Bo and Hope received a ransom note, demanding $5 million by the evening, and Hope wondered how they were supposed to get that kind of money that quickly. Justin suggested that Victor might be able to help. Then Hope realized that the kidnappers took Ciara because they read the news article about the donation Hope made.
Bo tried to assuage Hope's guilt, saying that kidnappers knew that she had money, but that knowledge could give them insight into how kidnappers thought. Hope realized that Bo was having visions about Ciara before the article was written. She thought that the money might be irrelevant, and she wondered how Ciara got the bear back. Hope wondered if Bo thought that she disregarded the safeguards that they had discussed.
Meanwhile, the kidnapper is joined by two more people who were part of the plan to kidnap Ciara, a guy named Dean and a girl. Dean started to leave, but the girl urged him not to leave her with the other man. Dean reassured her that their plans would pay off.
There were no fingerprints or DNA left on the ransom note, but the teddy bear was confirmed as belonging to Ciara. Meanwhile, the original kidnapper took Ciara's blindfold off, and she told him and the girl that she wanted her mother. The girl told her to shut up, because they all wanted something they couldn't have.
Justin went to the DiMera mansion to tell Victor about Ciara's kidnapping. He enters urgently calling out for Uncle Vic.
Meanwhile, the female kidnapper told Ciara that if her parents were smart, she would see them soon, and Dean would let her know if Ciara's parents were being smart. The woman made a phone call.
Back at the police station, Bo told the officers to search the area again, even if they had to work through the night. Dean, one of the kidnappers, walked into the room and is a cop!
8/18 In a shack, an exhausted Ciara slept as the remaining two kidnappers wondered where their partner Dean was. The female kidnapper starting eating all the candy, so the kidnapper who had lured Ciara away asked the woman to stop eating Ciara's treats. "She's a nice little girl," he said.
As Bo and Hope waited for word about their daughter, Hope theorized that whoever kidnapped Ciara knew that she would be at the carnival away from her parents. Ellen interrupted with her daughter Tracey in order to tell Bo and Hope about some information. Tracey remembered that Ciara had her bear and that a man had given her candy. Hope remembered that Ciara had said a friend had given her the candy, and she cursed herself for not asking Ciara more questions and warning her about strangers.
Frustrated, Hope broke down in tears. Bo urged Hope not to blame herself and to stay strong. Drying her tears, Hope said she was confused as to why Ciara was targeted. Hope turned to Bo and asked whether the real target was Bo since he was both a Brady and a Kiriakis. Bo countered that the news clipping that came with the ransom note was not in the style of a DiMera plot, but Hope urged Bo to keep the idea in mind.
Dean announced that he had a lead from the Amber Alert, but quickly informed Bo and Hope that it was a dead end. Shaken by the false hope of a lead, Hope fell into Bo's arms. Victor arrived to inform Bo that the ransom money would be ready by morning, but Bo vowed to find Ciara before then.
Bo took Victor aside and asked for him to make a list of his enemies. Raising an eyebrow, Victor refused to make the list and urged Bo to pay the ransom. Furious, Bo told Victor that he did not want a repeat of what happened with Stephanie's kidnapping, and he ordered Victor to stay out of the case. Nodding, Victor agreed to call Bo when the money was ready.
As Hope paced the station, she received a phone call. Once Dean noted that he was tracing the call, Hope answered the phone and was greeted with the disguised voice of the female kidnapper. The woman chided Hope that she had let her son Zack down and he died, so she should be careful not to make the same mistake with Ciara. Heartbroken, Hope collapsed in tears.
8/19 At the police station, Bo brought Roman up to speed about the kidnappers' ransom demands. As Hope cried softly that the kidnapper had said it would be her fault if Ciara died, Dean watched furtively, smiling to himself. Justin arrived with a briefcase, explaining that it was filled with small, non-consecutive bills. Dean took note and skulked away. Bo tried to reassure Hope that the money would bring their little girl home.
In the kidnappers' shack, the man who had abducted Ciara from the carnival tried to feed his hostage. Ciara, bound at the wrists, refused to open her mouth. The female kidnapper cruelly threatened Ciara that if she starved to death, she would never see her mommy and daddy again. Ciara reluctantly took a tiny bite.
Bo and Hope were worried because the kidnapper hadn't contacted them again since the initial call demanding the money. Bo explained to Justin and Roman that they hadn't been able to trace the call, because it had been made from a disposable cell phone and bounced between towers, but they were ready to trace any further calls to any of their phones. Roman left to check out some possible leads.
Dean arrived at the shack, where, in addition to the rope around her wrists, Ciara was blindfolded and wearing headphones. Dean informed the female kidnapper that Hope had been a basket case which pleased them both, because Dean blamed Hope for his not having made detective yet.
The woman cheered Dean on as he ranted about how Hope had been promoted, thanks to her connections in the police department, but he'd done all the work. Dean declared that it was time for payback. "And payday," the woman chimed in gleefully, and they kissed. Dean then left.
As Dean slipped back into the station, Roman informed Bo that four convicts whom Hope had helped send away had recently been released from prison-but Roman didn't think the kidnapping seemed like the work of an angry ex-con. Dean updated Bo that there was nothing new to report from the field, and pointed out a possible connection between Justin's arrival and the kidnapping. Bo told Dean that it was just a coincidence, but thanked him for the hard work.
Hope's cell phone rang just then. Once Roman gave the signal, Hope answered. The female kidnapper, her voice digitally disguised, was pleased when Hope stated that they had the ransom money. Hope broke down when the kidnapper threatened Ciara's life, so Bo took the phone and warned that there would be no ransom until they knew Ciara was all right. The woman instructed Bo to check Hope's email, and then hung up abruptly. Roman angrily informed them that he hadn't been able to trace the call.
Dean tried not to smirk as Bo rushed to a computer and a distraught Hope followed, apologizing for falling apart. Bo quickly pulled up a picture of Ciara holding that morning's Chicago Daily Dispatch. Hope broke down in sobs, and Bo choked back tears, both noting how scared Ciara looked. Bo barely managed to keep it together as he issued instructions to have the picture enhanced to try to discern where the kidnappers were holding Ciara, and to try to track down the email's origins.
Just as Hope was getting anxious because there had been no instructions about what to do with the money, the kidnapper called back. The woman told Hope where to drop off the money in one hour, ordering Hope to arrive alone-no backup, no snipers, no wires, and no weapons. "And remember, you're the reason your daughter's in this mess," the woman added. "Now only you can get her out of here." Hope held it together until the line went dead, then collapsed in tears in Bo's arms.
Bo began ordering the area to be surrounded, but Hope stopped him, insistent on obeying the kidnapper's orders to go alone. They argued about whether to follow standard police procedure, and Hope concluded that Bo not only didn't trust her to handle things herself, he also blamed her for everything. Bo insisted he wasn't thinking anything of the sort.
As Bo and Hope's voices rose in fear and anger, Justin quietly stepped in to mediate. He urged Bo to just hand over the money and get Ciara back safely. Bo maintained that he couldn't put his daughter in danger, and Roman agreed that the odds would only be in their favor if they went by the book.
As Roman left to talk to a reporter, Bo and Hope tried to discuss things more calmly, each sure that their way was the only way to keep Ciara safe. Hope quietly pleaded with her husband to let her make things right, the way the kidnappers wanted. An anguished Bo grabbed her and held her tightly.
"You come back to me, you hear?" he managed. "You bring our daughter home." They held each other for a moment, crying together, and finally Bo handed the briefcase to Hope. She kissed him goodbye and rushed out.
Dean stepped into a conference room to send a text message to the woman. When she read it, she pulled a pistol out of her backpack and gave it to her partner, who removed Ciara's blindfold and headphones. "Okay, Squirt, come on," the woman said as the man helped Ciara sit up. "Mommy's going to show us the money."
As Hope arrived in the woods with the briefcase, Bo sat looking at the ransom photo of Ciara. Suddenly, he had a vision that two kidnappers, wearing ski masks and clad in black from head to toe, met Hope in the woods. Just as Ciara was running into her mother's outstretched arms, they shot her. Hope shrieked in agony, cradling her bleeding child in her arms. When his vision ended, Bo was shaking with terror. "God no!" he whispered.
8/20 One of the kidnappers told Ciara that she would see her mother soon. The female kidnapper chastised him for giving the girl false hope. Then she set out to see if Hope arrived with the money and make sure the police weren't pulling anything. If Hope followed her directions not to bring the cops to the location, she planned to send for Ciara. If not, "that's another story," the female kidnapper said.
Bo ran off to stop Hope because he wasn't able to reach her by phone. Hope asked what changed, and Bo told her that he had a vision of Ciara getting shot. Dean, an officer who was behind the kidnapping, went to the drop off site to find out what happened, and Bo told him that they decided not to pay the kidnappers.
Dean offered to stay behind and see if the kidnappers were there and might have dropped something. Bo assured Hope that they were doing the right thing. Dean was angry that Bo changed his mind. He decided to go back to the station to figure out why Bo interfered with the drop-off. Dean predicted that Hope wouldn't stop until she got her way and saved her daughter.
Victor arrived at the police station, and Justin told him how Bo hurried to the drop off location to tell Hope that she couldn't deliver the money. Justin said it was as if Bo had some new information, but Justin didn't know what it was. Victor wondered how Bo would forgive himself if he messed up the rescue.
Meanwhile, Bo told Hope that she couldn't pay the ransom or else Ciara would die. Victor decided to check something to see if Ciara's kidnapping had nothing to with her being a Kiriakis.
When Bo and Hope returned to the station, Justin asked why Bo changed his mind about paying the ransom. Bo said that the act of paying the kidnappers the ransom would lead to Ciara's death. Justin asked how Bo knew that. Bo got angry that Justin questioned him about his decision. Hope got upset that Bo kept referring to Ciara as his daughter. She reminded him that Ciara was her daughter too. Hope was upset that Bo denied her the only chance she had to get Ciara back.
Bo told Hope that she wouldn't have gotten Ciara back, because she would have been killed. Hope told Bo that his vision was all in his head and might not be real. Bo said he couldn't ignore the vision. Hope asked whether Bo had a plan other than what not to do. Hope asked if the kidnappers called again and the drop-off point was different could she pay them the ransom then. Bo said the drop-off point was irrelevant, t the issue was the ransom, and he refused to let her pay it.
Bo asked Hope to trust him. She said that the kidnappers were angry and if they called them again and they refused to give them what they wanted, they would kill Ciara. Justin told Bo that he agreed with Ciara. Bo insisted that Ciara's life would be in danger if they paid the kidnappers' ransom.
Bo said that Ciara knew one of the kidnappers as her friend from the park who gave her candy, and they couldn't afford to let Ciara live, because she could describe him.
Bo said, therefore, she was only safe if they don't pay the ransom. Bo said if the kidnappers got the money, they couldn't afford to let her go. Suddenly, Dean ran into the room to show Bo and Hope something that might be connected to Ciara's kidnapping. It was research that Dean did, a list of kidnapping cases that were similar to Ciara's. Dean said that in each of those cases, the abductors were only after the money, and the child was returned once the money was received. That was enough to convince Hope to push for them paying the ransom after all.
8/21 Bo, Hope, Justin, and Officer Dean were gathered in the police station conference room when the kidnapper called Hope's cell phone. Dean quickly set up to trace the call, while Hope put her phone on speaker to answer. Her voice disguised, the female kidnapper, Brenda, berated Hope for backing out of their meeting. Hope insisted that it would not happen again, and she would meet whenever and wherever the kidnappers wanted and promised to be alone
Suddenly, Bo seized the phone from Hope, angrily declaring that he would use the five million dollars to pay off every snitch and street rat that he can find. He vowed to hunt the kidnapper down and make the kidnapper suffer. Hope looks on in agony as cries, “no Bo!” as he makes these threats.
Brenda threatened that Ciara would be dead before that could happen, but Bo vowed that he'd make sure the kidnappers got the death penalty if they killed Ciara. "You have to find us first," Brenda replied before snapping her phone shut.
Brenda's partner, Kyle, thought that because Bo had blown up, it might mean he was closer to paying the ransom, but Brenda disagreed. She was worried about the wisdom of kidnapping the child of two cops, and thought that maybe listening to Dean had been a bad idea.
"It's time we ditch the kid and get the hell out of here," she declared. Kyle tried to talk her out of it, but she started throwing things in a backpack. Kyle called the station to tell Dean that Brenda was leaving, and an angry Dean ordered Kyle to stay put until he got there.
Hope was devastated, and furious with Bo. She warns Bo not to touch her. Justin also disagreed with Bo's decision. Dean tapped on the door to ask if it were all right for him to step out for a few minutes, because he had a slight headache. Bo consented, since he didn't think the kidnappers would call back for a while, and then he followed Dean out to address the press.
Hope turned to Justin. "He doesn't think he does anything wrong," she said miserably. "He doesn't think anyone can question what he does." Justin urged her to let it go for Ciara's sake. He declared softly that no one should have to be a cop and a parent at the same time. Hope hated seeing her husband in so much pain; she acknowledged that Bo had only done what he thought was right.
Bo returned and asked Justin to give him and Hope some time alone. Once she and Bo were alone, Hope said she wanted them to be on the same side, but worried that the kidnappers would take their anger out on Ciara after Bo threatened them. Bo replied that he would never forgive himself if that happened. He promised not to spring any more surprises on Hope, and they agreed to work together. Hope reminded him that after Zack died, they almost hadn't made it, but Bo reassured her that nothing would happen to Ciara.
In the park, Roman and Abe discussed the lack of progress in Ciara's kidnapping case. Roman hoped that Ciara's little friend, Tracy, who had been at the party when the man had given Ciara the lollipop, might have a little more information. Both men agreed that it was always difficult to question a child.
Lexie arrived with Theo, who got very upset when he overheard his dad say that Ciara was missing. Lexie tried to comfort her wailing child. When Roman gently questioned the boy, Theo replied, "Saw her. I saw Ciara." Lexie and Abe tried to get Theo to divulge more details, but the most they were able to get out of him was, "Saw Ciara and the angel!"
Kyle, the tattoo of an angel plainly visible beneath his cut-off shirt sleeve, was tenderly making sure that a bound and blindfolded Ciara was comfortable when Dean knocked on the door of the shack. As soon as Kyle unlocked the door, Dean burst in and confronted Brenda angrily. She defensively replied that the police commissioner had threatened their lives. Dean reminded her that she'd signed on for the kidnapping. "You're not going anywhere until I say so," he declared.
Kyle complained that he and Brenda were in the line of fire while Dean only had to hang out in the air-conditioned police station. In a flash, Dean deftly grabbed Kyle in a chokehold, warning that he'd kill Kyle if he didn't follow orders. While Kyle struggled and fought for breath, Brenda shouted for Dean to let him go. At last, Dean released Kyle, reminding the others that he was the brains of the outfit. He asserted that he knew exactly how they would get the ransom money. Looking down at Ciara, Dean declared, "We can't underestimate a mother's love for her child."
8/24 Bo and Hope agreed to work together to get Ciara back, and not to spring anymore surprises on each other. Hope worried that if anything happened to Ciara, it would put a strain on their relationship, similar to when Zack died, but Bo assured her that Ciara would be fine. Bo told Hope that once they gave the kidnappers the money, the kidnappers had no reason to keep Ciara alive.
Kyle worried that he and Brenda shouldn't trust Dean, because Dean's old plan failed. Dean asked if they planned to abandon the plan after all the work they did. Kyle said the ransom was going to be used as a reward to anyone who could track them down, which made them targets. Brenda tried to calm Dean down. Dean planned to exploit Hope's fear to make Bo change his mind about giving them the money. Kyle thought that there was no way that Bo would let Hope change his mind about giving the kidnappers the money. Dean insisted that none of them run away unless Dean said so, and he assured them that Hope would change Bo's mind.
Hope suggested that they give the kidnappers the ransom money, because if they didn't, the kidnappers would kill Ciara. Bo predicted that the kidnappers wouldn't harm Ciara if they caught the kidnappers first. The television crew arrived at the station, and Bo asked Hope if she supported his decision, but she didn't. Justin asked how Hope was doing, and she told him that what Bo was doing put Ciara in more danger.
Justin was certain that Bo thought what he was doing was right. Hope knew that was what Bo thought, but she said that Bo was wrong. Bo announced a $5 million reward to help find the kidnappers. Meanwhile, the kidnappers watched his press conference and worried. Bo said that Hope was asking for the public's help, too, and he called Hope in front of the cameras. Hope urged the public to help.
Hope was furious at Bo for pulling her in on the press conference. She said that she should have told everyone that she was against Bo's plans. Bo said he thought it was good for people to see Ciara's parents. Hope worried that Bo would get Ciara killed. She insisted that the money was irrelevant, and it was about Ciara's life. Bo said that Ciara's life was tied to the money. Hope was so upset at Bo that she stormed out of the room. Bo got a phone call from the governor.
The kidnappers worried that with the reward, they had a bigger target on their backs. Brenda suggested that Kyle go back to Los Angeles and she go back to Miami, and they ditch Ciara. Dean insisted that they get the money one way or the other. He played nervously with his cigarette lighter as Ciara, who sat up in bed, shook her head. The kidnappers noticed that Ciara was sitting up in her bed. Brenda readjusted Ciara's headphones. Dean suggested that Kyle and Brenda get food from across the street.
Hope went to the park and broke down into tears. Justin comforted Hope, and she told him that what Bo was doing would get Ciara killed. Justin urged her not to give up hope. Bo walked up behind them while Justin held Hope. Bo asked Justin not to get so emotionally involved with Hope. Bo asked her not to make it personal, despite her feelings about his tactics. Hope said that if anything happened to Ciara, the blood would be on both their hands, and Hope would never forgive Bo.
8/25 Hope was upset with Bo's unilateral decision to call off the ransom drop. "I absolutely believe if we pay that ransom, Ciara will die," Bo said determinedly. Bo begged Hope to unite with him and support one another as a team. Holding back tears, Hope reminded Bo that until that moment , he was making the decisions on his own without her consultation. Though Bo urged Hope to believe in him, Hope refused to support his decision.
At the police station, Lexie and Abe took Theo with them to visit Roman. Theo kept repeating the word "angel." When Roman questioned Theo, he started to tug Abe's arm as he said "angel." Roman guessed that Theo was talking about a tattoo of an angel on the kidnapper's arm. Theo sat down in front of a book of pictures and pointed out the angel tattoo that he saw.
Abe and Roman ran the tattoo through various government databases and pulled up a match for a man named Kyle Simmons, who was staying at the motel up the street. Noting that Kyle was a registered sex offender, Roman, Bo, and Hope raced to the motel to search for Kyle.
At the shack, Dean stroked Ciara's hair as she sat on the bed blindfolded with music blaring on her headphones. "This is all gonna come to an end for you. Very soon," Dean whispered. When Brenda returned with her brother, Kyle, they informed Dean about the roadblocks. Panicking, Brenda said she wanted to walk away from the kidnapping, but Dean urged her to calm down and let him get the plan back on track.
Dean got a phone call from the station with the news that a witness had spotted Kyle's tattoo when he kidnapped Ciara. Realizing that it was only a matter of time until the cops tracked down their hotel room, Dean agreed it was time to leave town. Dean offered to go clear out the motel, since he could get through the roadblocks with his police badge.
At the motel, Dean grabbed all evidence showing a connection to him from the room, including photos of him with Brenda. With the room seemingly clean of evidence implicating him, Dean headed back to the shack.
At the shack, Kyle wondered aloud whether he should take Ciara deep into the woods where no one could find her. Brenda paced the room anxiously until Dean returned. "It's time to go," Dean said as he pulled out his gun and leveled it for a shot. "I'm sorry, Kyle. It's got to be done," Dean muttered and then fired the gun.
Back at the motel, Bo, Hope, and Roman searched the room and found an article about Hope and a forest ranger's map of the woods nearby with circled areas on it. Realizing they found the kidnapper's room, Hope, Bo, and Roman breathed a sigh of relief over the break in the case.
8/26 In the kidnappers' motel room, Hope was still angry about Bo's press conference, in which he essentially put a bounty on the kidnappers' heads. She feared they might already have hurt Ciara, since they no longer had a reason to keep her alive. Bo was certain that the map Roman had found in the motel room would lead them to their daughter. After a quick cell phone call to issue search orders for the circled areas on the kidnappers' map, Bo, Hope, and Roman headed out of the motel.
In the shack, Ciara was still bound and blindfolded, her tiny form hidden under a blanket that Brenda had thrown over her. Kyle thought he should take the girl deep into the woods so no one could find them. Dean returned, absent-mindedly flicking his lighter, and declared that it was time to go. When Dean pulled out his gun, Kyle and Brenda thought he intended to shoot Ciara, and tried to reason with him. Instead, Dean shot Kyle in the chest.
Shrieking, Brenda ran to her brother, and when he didn't respond, she ran at Dean, pummeling with her fists. She angrily demanded to know why he had shot her brother. Dean confidently asserted that Bo and Hope would proclaim him a hero for getting scum like Kyle off the streets. He then leveled his gun at an incredulous Brenda. "I liked you, Brenda," Dean declared. "But I like this new plan even more, because it's foolproof."
In the woods, Roman split off from Bo and Hope to track down Dean, who they believed was already out in the field. The Bradys found fresh footprints, which they followed in the direction of the shack.
Brenda begged Dean not to shoot her, and to let her help him get revenge on Hope. Dean shakily asserted that he no longer needed a partner, because he was going to take care of Hope by himself. Brenda argued that if they left right away, they could make it to Canada, and start a new life together. She even suggested that they kill Ciara so she couldn't identify them.
Unconvinced, Dean handed his gun to Brenda and told her to go ahead and shoot. She switched tactics, repeating her plea for them to run away together. "It'll just be me and you. Come on," she urged. "I love you." Dean lowered his gun. "I love you too, Brenda," he declared, pulling her to him and kissing her deeply-and then shooting her in the abdomen.
Dean hurriedly removed a pistol from Brenda's knapsack, wiped off the fingerprints, and tossed it on the floor next to Kyle. He pulled another gun from an ankle holster, wiped it down, and wrapped Brenda's hand around it. He pushed the nose of the weapon against his shoulder and grimaced as he pulled the trigger.
As Bo and Hope arrived outside the shack, they heard two gunshots in fairly quick succession. They drew their weapons and rushed inside to find the two kidnappers dead on the floor, and a wounded Dean slumped against the wall. A relieved Hope quickly freed Ciara. Bo and Hope lavished their daughter with hugs and kisses and promises that no one would ever hurt her again.
Pressing his hand against his bleeding shoulder, Dean spun his account of what had happened for a very grateful Bo and Hope: Dean had found a hair clip outside the cabin that he thought might be Ciara's, and there had been no time to call for backup; when he ran inside, both kidnappers had guns, and the woman had fired at him, so he'd shot them both. "I had to; I was afraid for your kid," he explained.
Bo and Hope expressed their gratitude for what Dean had done, but he pretended to shrug off their praise. "I was just doing my job," he stated. When Kyle began to regain consciousness, he lay still as Bo bent down to check his pulse. Kyle swiftly grabbed a log with his other hand and brought it down hard on Bo's head. Dean jumped on top of Kyle, and as the two men struggled, Kyle managed to gasp, "I didn't do it alone!" before he collapsed again. Bo felt for a pulse at Kyle's neck, and declared that Kyle was dead.
Once Roman and some uniformed officers arrived at the shack, Roman said he would look into whether Kyle had an accomplice besides the woman. Bo praised Dean's heroism, asserting that he deserved a medal. Dean wandered outside, where Hope was tending to Ciara.
"We owe this man a very big thank you, sweetheart," Hope told her daughter. "He's the man who rescued you."
"No he didn't," Ciara replied.
8/27 Hope told Ciara that Dean was the "nice man" who rescued Ciara, but Ciara said he wasn't. Hope asked what Ciara meant, and Dean secretly reached for his gun. Ciara explained that Dean didn't rescue her, it was Hope and Bo. Dean told Ciara that she was right, because her parents never stopped searching for her. Hope sensed that Ciara was still upset.
Hope told Ciara that the doctors would take care of Dean. Hope told Ciara how proud Hope and Bo were of her, and Ciara told Hope not to cry, because Hope didn't have to be sad anymore. Bo tried to pull Hope into a hug with Ciara, but there was still tension between the couple.
Lexie told Roman that Dean would be fine. Roman told Lexie and Abe that there was something not quite right about Kyle and Brenda, the kidnapping suspects. He reports that Bo thinks that the suspects had a personal grudge against Hope. Roman was checking to see if Bo or Hope arrested either of the suspects. Roman also told Lexie and Abe about Kyle being a sex offender.
As they reel with this upsetting news, Bo and Hope arrive with Ciara at the hospital to have her checked out. Lexie was glad to see Ciara, and she told Ciara that Theo was anxious to see Ciara, too. Lexie asks Hope to come with her while she checks out Ciara. Bo asked Roman what he should do if Ciara had been sexually assaulted. Lexie checked Ciara over and told Bo that Ciara wasn't sexually abused.
Bo, Hope, and Roman questioned Dean about what had happened when he confronted the kidnappers. Dean said he looked through the window and saw Kyle prepare to shoot Ciara, so Dean killed Kyle and then Brenda. Dean noticed the tension between Bo and Hope, because Hope shrugged Bo's hands off of her shoulders and walked away. Bo asked if Hope was still upset with him for how he handled the kidnapping.
Bo suspected that there was another suspect who was still on the loose, and he wanted to question Ciara about it. Hope just wanted Ciara to forget the kidnapping, but Bo said that if someone else was involved, they needed to know for Ciara's safety. When Bo got up to get some more coffee, he got dizzy and almost fell. Hope asked Lexie to check Bo out. While Bo was being examined, Roman wheeled Dean over to Hope and asked her to sit with him while Roman made a call.
Dean was nervous, but Hope didn't pick up on it. She asked how she could thank him for saving Ciara. Dean said he was just doing his job. Roman returned with news that there was nothing in Brenda or Kyle's background that tied either kidnapper to Bo or Hope. Roman wanted to know for sure that the ordeal was over.
Lexie told Hope that Bo had a slight concussion. Bo was anxious to get home, and Lexie let him leave once he promised to return the next day. In the lobby, Hope thanks Dean for saving her daughter’s life. Roman returns and reports they have nothing to tie either perp to either Hope or Bo. Bo brought Ciara out of the hospital room, and she was asleep on his shoulder.
Hope thought that Ciara looked peaceful, but then Ciara started having a nightmare and called out for Hope, saying, "Mommy, no." Dean was feeling anxious and wanted to smoke a cigarette. He played with his lighter, and Lexie reminded Dean that there was no smoking in the hospital. As Dean flicked his lighter, Ciara remembered the sound from when Dean did it while she was held captive.
9/3 Bo tucked Ciara into bed at home. Hope thought that Bo should have spent the night at the hospital after getting hit over the head when they rescued Ciara, but Bo wanted both him and Hope at home when Ciara woke up in the morning, so they could get back to feeling normal. Bo reminded his wife that Ciara was safe, so they could start over. He wondered if Hope could forgive him. Before she could answer, he volunteered to sleep in the guest room, and Hope agreed.
Bo couldn't believe that he and Hope were bickering, even after Ciara was safe at home. Hope still blamed him for putting Ciara in more danger, just because he had to be in charge. Bo didn't want to fight, but he clarified that all he cared about was Ciara's safety. Hope realized she shouldn't have mentioned it, but it didn't make a difference, since he knew what Hope was thinking. Ciara cried out for Hope, and they both ran to her room.
Dean was haunted by memories of killing Brenda. He was determined to get the reward money for rescuing Ciara. Dean went to Bo and Hope's house to talk to Bo. Hope and Ciara were up. Dean apologized for stopping by so late. Hope mentioned that Ciara had a bad dream. Dean was apologetic. Dean told Bo that he was having a hard time dealing with his emotions, because he had never killed anyone before.
Bo suggested that Dean take some personal leave and get counseling, but Dean wanted to use the reward money to take off for a while, because he felt that counseling wouldn't help him. Bo told Dean that he wasn't eligible for the reward money. Bo reminded Dean that department rules said that an on-duty officer wasn't eligible for compensation other than his salary. Dean apologized for appearing as if he were asking for money. Hope overheard them talking and asked what they were discussing. Bo told her that they were talking about the reward.
Hope thought that Bo brought up the reward, but when Bo tried to explain, Hope told Dean that she would talk to her lawyer to find a way to get him the money. Dean apologized and left. Hope reminded Bo that Dean saved Ciara. Bo asked what Hope thought would happen if the public found out that Hope was violating policy. Ciara walked in and asked why they were fighting.
Hope was able to get Ciara back to bed, and she urged Bo to be more careful so that Ciara didn't hear them fighting again. Hope wasn't backing down from her feelings about the way Bo handled the case, though. Bo went to the Java Cafe to give Hope some space. Hope wondered to herself what was happening to her marriage.
Justin argued on the phone with Adrienne while he was standing on Bo and Hope's front porch. Hope overheard him and opened the door. She invited Justin in and told him that Bo had left because he needed some space. Hope told Justin that she wanted Dean to get the reward money. She started to tell Justin about her argument with Bo, but she got upset thinking about Ciara's ordeal.
9/9 At the Brady Pub, Hope informed Dean that a few weeks before the kidnapping, a witness had spotted Brenda, the female kidnapper, kissing an unidentified man outside the motel where she was staying with her brother Kyle. Dean wanted to be the one to follow up on the lead, for Ciara. Although she pointed out that he was supposed to be on medical leave, Hope agreed. She then advised Dean that she would make sure he received the reward money. Dean maintained that he'd only been doing his job, but Hope insisted, because Dean had saved her daughter's life.
When Philip went to the Bradys' house to talk to Bo, he was surprised that his brother already knew about the sex video of Philip and Melanie. Bo informed him that they had arrested the motel manager for making and publishing the video. Philip suspected that Melanie had been in on it. Bo explained that Melanie hadn't even known about it until a few hours earlier, when she had enlisted Brady's help to get the video taken down.
Stephanie stopped by to ask Bo if he had talked to her parents, but stopped cold when she saw Philip. Bo went upstairs to give them some privacy. When Bo returned, Philip gave up and left. Stephanie sobbed to Bo that she hated Philip for what he'd done, but she would never love anyone as much as she loved him. Bo put his arms comfortingly around his niece, and was offering to drive Stephanie home when Hope arrived with Dean.
Hope declared that she was wiring the reward money into Dean's bank account right away, even though it was against Bo's wishes. After Stephanie gushed about Dean's bravery, she and Bo left. Dean noted the tension between the Bradys, feigning concern for their marriage. Hope urged him not to worry about it, because they would always be grateful to him for saving their daughter's life.
Hope then explained that she'd taken Dean home with her so Ciara could see the heroic man who'd saved her. As Hope went upstairs, Dean absentmindedly flicked his lighter, smirking to himself. "A huge reward? And that bitch's marriage is on the rocks? Talk about killing two birds."
9/10 Ciara descended the stairs ahead of her mom a few minutes later, but stopped when she heard Dean's lighter, remembering the sound from when she was blindfolded in the cabin. "Mommy!" she cried, and ran into Hope's arms. "What is it, Sweetheart?" asked a concerned Hope, stroking her daughter's hair. Hope hurried to Ciara's side and asked what was wrong. Hope told her that Dean was one of the officers who saved her. Dean continued to play with his lighter. Ciara whispered in Hope's ear, "It's him."
At the pub, Bo followed up on a lead from someone who saw Brenda kissing one of the suspects. Justin showed up and told Bo that he wired the money into Dean's account at Hope's request. Bo wondered why Justin didn't stay out of it, and Justin said he wanted to be there for Hope, despite the fact that it would anger Bo. Justin accused Bo of being reckless with the way he handled Ciara's kidnapping. Bo reminded Justin that departmental policy was not to pay ransom, because if they did, the child might die.
Victor told Bo that Justin should stay out of Bo's argument with Hope. Victor said that Bo did what he thought was best. Bo said he had hoped that Hope would see that he did what he knew was right, and see things from a cop's perspective, but Hope was more upset than ever. Victor defended Hope. Bo asked if he was expected to forget about police policy and hope that he didn't get fired. Victor said Bo should do that if that was what it took to save his marriage.
Bo didn't understand why he was the bad guy in their marriage. Victor urged Bo to go home to his wife and work it out. Bo followed up on the witness who supposedly saw Brenda with the other kidnapping suspect, but the witness didn't pan out. Victor advised Bo to be contrite with Hope and to "fall" on his "sword."
Hope put Ciara down and stared at Dean's cigarette lighter. Dean asked what Hope was looking at, and she said she was thinking about his reward and didn't want him to wait. She suggested that they go to the bank right away, because it would be quicker than the wire transfer she had planned. The phone rang, but Dean suggested they let the machine pick up. Bo left a message, and Dean and Hope heard him talk about the third kidnapping suspect.
Hope hurried to the door, but Dean stopped her. Hope said she was in a hurry because she wanted him to get the reward money.
Dean pulled out his gun and announced that he was calling the shots. Hope begged Dean not to scare Ciara. Dean told her that it was better that Ciara was scared than dead. Hope asked what Dean wanted. Dean said that Bo forced him to kill his girlfriend and her brother because Bo went on television to appeal for help finding the kidnapper.
Hope urged Dean to take the money and go far away, and she promised that she wouldn't tell anyone about him. Justin knocked on the door. Dean ordered Hope to get rid of Justin or Dean would kill Ciara. Dean called Ciara over.
When Hope opened the door, Justin updated her on the transfer of the reward money. Justin wondered why Hope was in such a hurry. She said it was because she loved to cook and had something on the stove, so she wanted to get out of there.
Justin asked Hope again whether something was wrong, because she seemed stressed. Hope said it was nothing and repeated that she had something on the stove. Justin pretended to buy her excuse. Dean told Hope to decide, either they both went for a ride with Dean, or Dean would kill them in the house. Justin returned and wrestled with Dean for the gun. Hope told Ciara to go upstairs, while Hope went for her gun. Dean knocked Justin out and ran over to Hope. He pushed Hope against the mantel, knocking her out.
9/11 Bo and Roman were at the Brady Pub, discussing the kidnapping case. Bo confided that although they had saved Ciara, his and Hope's marriage might be another story. Roman was confident that they would eventually work things out. Bo wasn't so sure, citing how Justin had been interfering by maintaining that Bo had recklessly put Ciara's life in danger. Roman suggested that Bo and Hope get away on a sailing vacation, and take Ciara with them, to focus on their family. Bo agreed to consider it, but worried that it was already too late.
Ciara ran to Hope’s side calling, “Mommy”. As Dean stood over them menacingly, Justin jumped back up and grabbed Dean from behind. They fought again, until suddenly, Dean's gun went off.
When Dean stood up and Justin didn't, an angry Hope called Dean a bastard for killing an innocent man. With his gun aimed at Hope's head, Dean argued that it was actually her fault for allowing Bo to ignore the ransom demand. Hope agreed, begging Dean to just run with the money and let her and Ciara go.
Dean wouldn't go for it, knowing that she would send the cops after him as soon as he was gone. Hope distracted Dean and grabbed for his gun, and yelled for Ciara to run. Ciara was almost out the front door when Dean regained control of the gun and yanked the girl back inside. "You try a stupid move like that again, you are dead," he threatened Hope. "Then you better pray to God you kill me," Hope hissed back, hugging Ciara tightly to her. "You touch one hair on my daughter's head, and I'll kill you myself."
Dean demanded that Hope show him where the rope and duct tape were, so he could tie the two of them up before they went "for a little ride," with Justin's body in the trunk. Hope consented to lead him to the garage, but he realized that she'd only agreed because the neighbors would see them, so he decided to make do with something else.
Meanwhile, Justin had come to, and stealthily got out his phone and dialed Bo, keeping his hand and the phone hidden next to him. Bo was alone at the Brady Pub bar when he saw Justin's picture on his phone. He answered reluctantly, "All right, man, what do you want?" But instead of Justin, he heard Hope's voice saying, "Dean, listen to me: you can do whatever you want to me, but you leave my daughter alone." In a flash, Bo was out the door.
Dean refused Hope's request, so she asked why he had kidnapped Ciara in the first place. He hotly explained that she had stolen his promotion, even though he had done all the work. "You whored your way up the ranks, and left me with nothing," he spat. Although she begged again for him to leave Ciara out of it, he ordered her up the stairs to look for something with which to tie them up.
When they returned, Hope was still carrying Ciara, plus a bunch of scarves and a jug of bleach. Dean ordered her to tie Ciara up with the scarves and gag her. Just then, Justin groaned. While Dean was distracted, aiming his gun to finish Justin off, Bo burst through the door. He quickly overpowered Dean and wrestled his gun away from him. They began fighting, and although Dean landed a couple of punches, Bo soon had the upper hand, pummeling Dean within an inch of his life.
A frightened Hope was shouting at Bo to stop when two uniformed officers rushed in and pulled him off of Dean. As they handcuffed Dean, Hope at last put Ciara down, and Ciara ran to her dad. Bo clutched her to him with relief, while Hope checked on an unconscious Justin, ordering the other officers to call for an ambulance.
Although handcuffed and restrained by the two cops, Dean taunted Bo for screwing up and forcing Dean to kill Brenda and Kyle. "If you'd just paid the ransom money, none of this would've happened. And now two people are dead-three, once your cousin croaks-and the nightmares that your daughter's going to have for the rest of her life..." Bo cut him off, ordering the cops to get Dean out of there. Dean shouted over his shoulder as they led him out, "Still feel like a hero, Commissioner? Was it worth it?"
9/21 Hope returned home with Ciara and told Bo that she and Ciara were leaving. She said that the psychiatrist advised her that Ciara needed a new environment, so Hope planned to go to Doug and Julie's vacation house with Ciara. Bo assumed he was allowed to go, too, so he started to call the station to arrange vacation leave, but Hope told him that he was not going with them.
Bo didn't agree with the psychiatrist's recommendations. He said that Ciara needed to be at home with both of her parents. Hope reminded Bo that he took risks with Ciara's life during the kidnapping. Bo told Hope that the only person to blame in Ciara's kidnapping was Dean, and Hope needed therapy if she thought that Bo gambled with Ciara's life. Hope told Bo that arguing the way they were was exactly what the psychiatrist was referring to. Bo accused Hope of finding a reason to leave just like she did when Zack died.
Hope reminded Bo that he pushed her away after Zack's death by lying to her and letting Billie and Chelsea lie to her. Bo reminded her how hard they worked to make their marriage strong again, stronger than ever. Hope disagreed with his assessment. She said that once trust disappeared, they had nothing. Bo was offended that Hope didn't trust that he could take care of Ciara. There was a knock at the door. It was Justin, and when Bo answered the door, he yelled at Justin.
Justin apologized for his timing. Hope invited Justin in. Bo informed Justin about Hope's decision, but he assumed that Justin knew already. Bo got a call from the station, so he left the house to take care of business. Justin encouraged Hope to go after Bo, saying that if she lost Bo, it would be the biggest mistake of her life. Hope told Justin that her decision wasn't about her leaving Bo, but she felt that time away would help them. Justin told her that speaking from experience, Hope was wrong about that.
After Justin left, Bo made a wisecrack about Hope and Justin spending the night together. Hope told him that Justin advised her to stay at home with Bo, but Bo's comment was further proof that Hope needed to leave. Ciara said goodbye to Bo, and she asked if Hope was going to hug Bo goodbye. Hope hugged him and they left.
10/5 At the Brady Pub, Bo told Justin how much he appreciated Justin trying to talk Hope into staying. Bo asked Justin for some advice and possible legal representation. Bo told Justin that he needed Justin to handle some domestic issues between him and Hope, because Bo couldn't reach Hope by phone and didn't even know where Hope and Ciara were.
Bo denied wanting a legal separation. He said that Hope and Ciara were his life. Justin said that once the courts were involved, it diminished the chances of having a happy ending. Justin asked Bo why he needed a lawyer if he didn't want a legal separation.
Bo didn't think it was okay for Hope to make a decision about what was best for Ciara without his input. He just wanted to be able to communicate with Hope. He knew that Hope listened to Justin and hoped that Justin would help.
Justin warned Bo not to make ultimatums to Hope. Bo asked why he needed to wait when he had the right to see Ciara. Justin said that Bo and Hope's marriage was damaged from the ordeal of Ciara's kidnapping, and their problems were amplified because they had to deal with it as cops, as well. Justin advised Bo to give Hope some space. Bo said that when Hope took Ciara away and didn't let him talk to Ciara, it made Bo angry, angrier than he had ever been in his life.
10/6 Bo and Justin chatted at the Brady pub about Bo's failing marriage. "Maybe we just pushed it too far after Zach died," Bo said quietly. Uncomfortable, Bo changed the subject and asked when Justin would be returning to Dubai. Justin admitted that his marriage with Adrianne was also in trouble and that he had no plans to return to Dubai any time soon. Bo wondered aloud how strange it was that you could know someone so well and still be surprised by them.
Bo received an in flight phone call but doesn’t know who it is from. Unable to hear the call, Bo hung up the phone. Bo admitted to Justin that the voice he heard was familiar but he could not place it. Justin theorized that the call came from Hope and that she might be headed home.
10/7 Bo and Justin were at the Brady Pub when Justin received a call from an in-flight phone, as Bo had earlier. The call was dropped before he could answer it. Justin was sure that if it had been Hope who had called, she would have called Bo back instead of calling Justin.
Bo was relieved when Ciara called him shortly after Justin's dropped call. "I miss you, Daddy!" the little girl exclaimed. Bo asked if she had gone on a trip with her mommy, but she said no. "I just wanted to tell you that I love you," Ciara declared. Bo returned the sentiment, asking his "little one" to give her mommy a big hug. Bo wondered aloud to Justin who could have been trying to reach them so urgently before.
10/12 Victor called Bo to the Kiriakis mansion to ask him why Kate was still free after she'd poisoned Chloe and framed Daniel for it. Bo encouraged Victor to provide proof of Kate's crimes. Victor also said that Kate was responsible for Stefano's heart attack. Bo said the tests didn't show Stefano had been poisoned, but Stefano did lead an unhealthy lifestyle. Bo accused Victor of being jealous of Stefano. Victor showed Bo a newspaper article about Lawrence Alamain's murder.
Bo wondered if Victor had called him to the mansion to inform him about Lawrence's death. Bo said he'd thought that Lawrence would never die. Bo read that the authorities would only say that they were conducting an internal investigation.
Bo and Victor thought it strange that the authorities hadn't commented further on Lawrence's death, given Lawrence's influence overseas. Bo hoped that Carly was okay. Victor wondered why Bo cared. Bo said it was because Carly was a big part of Bo's life and because her husband had died. Victor reminded him that Carly had left Bo for Lawrence, a man who'd tried to kill Bo.
While there was no love lost for Lawrence, Bo worried about how Carly was doing. Victor didn't share Bo's feelings. Bo reminded Victor that Victor had once been married to Carly, but Victor wanted to forget about his time with Carly, and he advised Bo to let his relationship with Carly stay in the past where it belonged. Bo didn't understand why they were talking about Carly. Victor pointed out that Bo's marriage was in trouble, and Bo was trying to fix it. Victor said that the last name that Hope wanted to hear was Carly's.
Bo insisted that if Hope heard about Lawrence's death and wanted to talk about Carly, they would, but there was nothing Bo could do about it. Victor thought that Bo might use the situation to push Hope away and hurt her for taking Ciara away. Bo said that was the last thing that he wanted to do. He wondered how Victor thought he could hurt Hope because he hadn't talked to Carly in years.
Victor said Bo was the only one of Victor's children or grandchildren that Victor felt had chosen the right mate, and he warned Bo not to mess it up. Victor asked Bo what he was doing to compel Hope and Ciara to return home. Bo said that he was giving Hope the time and space that she had asked for.
Victor thought that Bo was being foolish, so he volunteered to go get Hope and return her to Bo. Bo told Victor that it wouldn't do any good to force Hope home before she was ready. Victor assumed that Hope wanted Bo to prove how much he wanted her back. Bo said that if Hope didn't know that by then, their marriage was in worse shape than Bo thought.
Hope asked Justin to meet her. He asked why she wasn't staying at Doug and Julie's loft. She said it was because they were having renovations done. Hope said her time away from Bo had been healing for her and Ciara, and Justin asked if that meant that she and Ciara would be going back home soon. Hope said that before she did anything, she needed Justin to be her lawyer.
Justin looked over the papers that Hope had filled out to put Ciara in private school, and Justin said that she didn't need a lawyer. Hope insisted that she needed a lawyer to explain it to Bo because Bo was convinced that only spoiled brats went to fancy private schools. Justin felt that Bo would listen to reason if the psychologist thought it was best for Ciara. Hope said that Bo didn't trust anything that the psychologist said, and he hated her recommendation to change Ciara's environment.
Justin agreed to help, but he didn't think it would go over well with Bo to have Justin explain it. Hope thought that Bo would hate it more if Hope delivered the news. Justin urged her to call Bo, because Bo was going crazy and would do anything to save their marriage. Justin asked if Hope felt the same way. She said that ending her marriage was the last thing she wanted. Justin encouraged her to tell Bo, but she said that she didn't need to because he knew how much she loved him.
Justin said that people who were married for a long time made a lot of assumptions, they thought they knew what the other person thought or felt. Justin had discovered that the more time they spent apart, the more they misread each other. Hope felt sorry that Justin was going through something similar. Justin again asked Hope to call Bo.
Hope said she couldn't talk to Bo, but she asked Justin to tell Bo that she would call him soon. Justin agreed to take the papers to Bo, but he warned her that it might push Bo further away. Hope said that Bo knew in his heart why she was doing it, and if he really wanted to fight for their marriage, he would understand. Justin asked what Hope would do if Bo refused to give his permission to enroll Ciara in private school. Hope said that Justin needed to convince Bo. After Justin left, Ciara told Hope that she missed Bo, and she asked when they were going home.
10/13 At the hotel, Hope announced to Ciara that it was time to go home. A thrilled Ciara threw her arms around Hope's neck, and then declared that she was going to draw a picture for her daddy. Hope found the finished drawing later, smiling sadly at its title: "Our Happy Family."
Bo was at the Brady Pub, reading an article in the morning paper about Lawrence Alamain's murder, when Justin joined him. Justin said that he'd just returned from visiting Hope. Bo was irked because Hope hadn't contacted him since she and Ciara had left, so Justin quickly explained that Hope had asked for his help with a legal matter. He then presented Bo with some documents from Hope, which Bo was very relieved to find weren't divorce papers but instead an application to transfer Ciara to a private school.
Justin gave Hope's reasons. Ciara was very fragile since the kidnapping and needed the resources a private school could offer, plus private schools were safer. Bo willingly signed the papers, agreeing that it made sense and besides, he didn't want anything else to get between him and his wife and daughter.
Justin then noticed the article about Lawrence, and wondered why there was no mention of Carly. Bo guessed that she was in seclusion after losing the love of her life.
Justin indicated that he'd thought Bo was the love of Carly's life. Bo confided that after he'd thought Hope had died, even though he and Carly had been close, his heart had always belonged to Hope.
Justin urged Bo to try to call his wife again, which Bo did as soon as Justin left. He was relieved when Hope answered right away. After some awkward small talk, Bo informed his wife that he'd signed the papers for private school then asked when she was returning home. Hope replied that the two of them would return soon because it was the right thing for Ciara.
10/15 Bo was looking at his and Hope's wedding album and reminiscing on their good times when Ciara walked in the door, followed by Hope. Bo told Ciara that he missed her, and when Hope walked in, Bo told Hope, "Welcome home." Bo told Ciara that he was glad she was home. Ciara told Bo that Hope said she and Hope could visit a lot. Bo wondered what Ciara was talking about.
When Ciara left the room, Hope apologized for not explaining her plans on the phone. Hope realized that she needed to return to Salem in order to deal with their marriage, but she didn't want to live in their house. She explained that she wasn't ready to live in the same house with Bo yet. Bo said that it would be bad for their family to have Hope and Ciara live elsewhere.
He explained that he was looking at old photos of them, and it reminded him of the good times they'd had, while it seemed that Hope only wanted to dwell on how he'd defied her. Hope said she didn't need photos to remember the good times because she remembered them as well as the bad times and the issues that they hadn't dealt with when they'd happened, because the issues still haunted them. Bo mocked Hope. He asked her what resentments they needed to resolve. She mentioned Patrick and asked if he'd forgiven her for it.
Bo said there was nothing to forgive, because Patrick had manipulated her. Hope mentioned Chelsea and said that the way that Bo had handled Ciara's kidnapping had opened up old wounds about Chelsea and Zack. Hope felt that they had buried a lot of important issues, but Bo didn't see it that way.
He thought they'd pulled themselves together and moved on. Bo thought that they'd decided to focus on the love they had for each other instead of dwelling on the things that they couldn't change.
Bo told her that she had his heart and that Hope made him complete and challenged him to be a better person. Hope told Bo that she loved him, and she wanted their marriage to work, but they couldn't ignore their problems. Bo felt like she hadn't heard anything that he'd said. Hope pointed out that she could relate to how he was feeling. She said that Bo couldn't accept that she saw things differently than he did, and he never could. Hope encouraged Bo to spend time with Ciara, and they could talk about visitation later.
10/20 At the hospital, Bo told Lexie that his marriage was in trouble. "Hope is pretty much wrong about everything and I'm pretty much right," Bo joked. Lexie laughed nervously, and asked Bo whether he really felt that way. Unnerved, Bo sheepishly looked away. Bo changed the subject to the volunteer program. Lexie suggested to Bo that they make Hope the head of the volunteer program in order to keep her involved with the Salem Police Department.
Bo politely declined Lexie's suggestion. Bo informed Lexie that Hope had officially moved out of the house and taken Ciara with her. "The kidnapping isn't the problem. Apparently it just dug up some issues that had been there," Bo said sadly. Bo explained that Hope was still upset about Patrick Lockhart and Zach's death.
"Maybe she keeps bringing things up because she thinks they still need to be resolved," Lexie suggested. Angry, Bo said that he thought Hope was using all their past problems as an excuse to end their marriage. "I don't think I've ever been this mad," Bo admitted.
Bo confided to Lexie that he was worried his marriage was over. Hoping to help make Bo feel better, Lexie reminded Bo that her marriage to Abe almost ended on multiple occasions. Grimacing, Bo told Lexie that the difference between the two marriages was that neither Lexie nor Abe was Hope. As Lexie shook her head light heartedly, Carly crept out of the elevators behind Bo and covering her face, rushed down the hallway.
10/21 In the supply room, Carly broke into the drug cabinet and swiped some medicine. As she was leaving, she overheard Maxine talking to Bo, and hung back to eavesdrop. Carly smiled fondly as she watched Bo pick up Theo and hug him enthusiastically, listening in as Bo and Lexie discussed their respective kids.
Bo confided that Ciara had grown up a great deal while she was away, joking that he planned to forbid her to date until she was in her thirties. Carly was dismayed when she heard Lexie refer to Bo as the police commissioner.
Maggie told Lexie and Bo that she'd just seen a woman doctor who looked very familiar get on the elevator. Lexie said that she was the only female doctor working on that floor, so the woman must have been from another floor. Maxine found Maggie and Bo and asked if they'd seen Lexie, because there were drugs missing from the medicine cabinet. Bo offered to begin an official investigation. Maxine informed him that the lock on the cabinet had been broken, but the most surprising thing was that the thief had taken antibiotics.
10/23 At the Brady house, Hope had just finished carrying her suitcases downstairs when Victor knocked on the door. He was dismayed to hear that Hope and Ciara were moving out. Victor empathized with what Hope had gone through-not just with Ciara's kidnapping, but also Zack's death, because he knew from experience that the pain of losing a child never went away. He asked if Hope were sure she really wanted to leave without any explanation for Bo, or at least a face-to-face goodbye. In a whisper, Hope replied that if she had to look Bo in the eye, she might not be able to leave.
Victor invited Hope to move into the Kiriakis mansion. Hope seemed uneasy, so Victor assured her that he didn't conduct business at home-and the feud with the DiMeras was over. Victor believed that Bo and Hope were soul mates, so he hoped Hope's stay at the mansion would allow them the time to rebuild their relationship. "I love my sons more than anything, more than my own life," Victor stated sincerely. "And since Isabella's passed, you're the only daughter I have now." Hope was touched. She shook Victor's hand and agreed, "We'll try it. See how it goes."
Justin dropped by the Brady house to talk to Bo about police matter that involved a client. After informing him that Bo was at the station, Hope deduced that Justin intended to stick around Salem for a while. Justin admitted sheepishly, "Yeah, well, you know, the last of my kids left for college, and Adrienne and I could use a little break." Justin saw the suitcases and assumed that Hope had moved back home.
Hope informed him that, even though she didn't have many good memories of the place, Victor had persuaded her to move into the Kiriakis mansion with Ciara. Justin was surprised, but promised to help them feel at home-at least until they agreed to return to their real home. He grabbed a suitcase and carried it out. Hope followed, with one last, sad look around.
10/26 Bo returned home to find Justin helping Hope move out. Hope thought that Bo would still be at work, so she was surprised to see him. Bo sarcastically told Justin that he appreciated Justin not taking sides. Hope corrected Bo and explained that Justin wasn't taking sides and was just helping with her luggage. Hope tried to explain to Bo that she wasn't planning to stay with Doug and Julie.
Bo didn't understand why Hope felt the need to move out. Hope said that Ciara suffered emotional distress from being in the same house where Dean held Ciara at gunpoint. Bo thought that Hope's decision to move out wasn't the solution. Hope warned Bo that giving her direct orders wasn't going to work. Bo was frustrated that everything he did seemed to be wrong. Bo told Hope that she had him cornered and would get angry with him when he didn't do what she expected of him.
Bo asked Hope where she and Ciara were moving to, and she said that Victor invited them to stay with him. Bo couldn't believe what she was about to do. He criticized her decision, pointing out that Victor was a career criminal. Justin returned to help Hope with the rest of her things. Bo suggested to Hope that they sell their home to avoid the unhappy memories, but she said she couldn't because she loved the house.
Hope asked Bo to give her and Ciara more time. Bo pointed out that he would be left alone if she and Ciara left. Hope said she wasn't trying to push him away. They argued again, so she decided to leave. He warned her to watch her back.
Hope moved into the Kiriakis mansion. Then she questioned if she was making a huge mistake (of course I’m yelling at the screen, “YES”!!!)
10/27 Bo hears Carly breaking into his house. Once the intruder enters he tackled her to the ground. "Hey! Sorry to drop in on you like this," Carly quipped. When Bo questioned why Carly had made such a mysterious entrance into his house, she explained that her life was in danger. Bo asked Carly about Lawrence's death, and she admitted that she was the one that stabbed him.
Carly explained that she had "good reason," but Bo joked sarcastically about her admission. Frazzled by Bo's comments, Carly paced the room and noticed a picture of Ciara and asks if she is his daughter with Hope? She questions why she saw Hope leaving with Justin. Bo noted that Hope and Ciara were staying at Victor's house for a while. Carly observes it was kinda of a lot of suitcases for a sleep over? Bo admits they will be at Victor’s for awhile.
At the Brady Pub, Hope wondered aloud whether she was making a mistake in moving out. Justin tried to cheer up Hope, but she continued to question her decision. Justin told Hope that the move was not a permanent solution and that she should stay at the mansion for the night and think about her situation without Bo around.
Back at the Kiriakis mansion, Hope complained that Bo did not understand that she was upset about more than their fight. She admits that she is still scared. Some day Dean will get out of prison just like Kat and Stefano got away with what they did. She worries that it is far from over. From a nearby darkened hallway, Victor listened to Justin and Hope talk.
Carly is relieved that Hope and Ciara aren’t in the picture as it is more secure and so she feels more comfortable sharing details as Lawrence’s men are after her. Carly explained that she killed Lawrence in self-defense. Carly went on to explain that Lawrence had been gravely ill right after they married, but had recovered. "The man that recovered, you're gonna think I'm crazy, but it wasn't Lawrence. It wasn't my Lawrence," Carly added. Before Carly could continue, Bo's phone rang and interrupted her.
Dvd #76B After settling in, Hope went downstairs to the living room to find Victor drinking a cocktail. Hope thanked Victor for the nanny, and he countered that a nanny would be great to have if Hope and Bo wanted to get away for the weekend. Hope joked about having the nanny watch Ciara so she could get "a quickie divorce in Reno." Worried, Victor pleaded with Hope to think things through. Hope admitted that she was only joking but advised Victor that she still loved her husband.
"Isn't it nice to just sit here and talk without me having to read you your rights first?" Hope said with a smirk. Hope added that she was suspicious of Victor's motives, and he appeared amused.
"I'm sorry. I know how much your family means to you," Hope said before exiting the living room. "Bo's an idiot," Victor muttered under his breath.
Worried about Ciara, Bo took the phone call during his conversation with Carly. On the other end of the line, Victor chastised Bo for letting Hope leave. "Get your ass over here and beg your wife to come home," Victor said gruffly. Bo argued that he had already begged Hope to stay and that he could not do anything else because something had come up. Angry, Victor asked Bo what was more important than Bo's wife and child, and then hung up the phone before Bo could respond.
Worried about interfering in Bo's life, Carly apologized for intruding and tried to leave. Bo talked Carly in to staying and asked her to explain exactly what had happened. Carly refused to go into details but she explained that Lawrence was gradually getting worse. "He had to be stopped. He had to pay," Carly said. "I killed him and I'm sorry. I'm sorry I didn't do it sooner," Carly announced.
When Bo asked Carly about the police, Carly said she was not worried about the authorities. Bo urged Carly for full disclosure in order to help her. After a brief call to Omar, Carly sat down on the couch and agreed to tell Bo about Lawrence.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope admitted to Justin that she would go back to Bo if Ciara did not adjust to the separation. Trying to comfort Hope, Justin said that he thought that was the worst of it and that things were going to get better for her and Bo. With a tired smile on her face, Hope nodded.
10/28 When Philip went downstairs at the Kiriakis mansion, he was surprised to find Hope there, chatting and having coffee with Justin. She explained that she and Ciara were staying there for a short time, while Hope and Bo were "taking a little break." Philip joked that the Kiriakis mansion had become a "singles-only crash pad," but instantly regretted it, apologizing profusely to Hope. Hope shrugged it off, and then left to take Ciara to school and run some errands.
After Carly finished telling Bo the saga of why she had killed Lawrence, she tried to return to the boat to check on her patient. Bo insisted that Carly stay, and when he noticed that she was shaking, he pulled a blanket from the back of the couch and wrapped her with it. He remembered covering Hope with the same blanket during happier times. Carly was worried that she someone would catch her at Bo's house-and right then, there was a knock at the front door.
As soon as Carly had hidden in the dining room, Bo opened the front door for Maggie. Maggie was looking for Hope, whom Maggie thought she'd just seen through the window. Bo merely said that Hope wasn't home, explaining that he had a friend visiting from out of town, and suggested that Maggie try calling Hope's cell phone. After Maggie left, Carly emerged from the dining room and cited Maggie's visit as a good example of why Carly should leave.
Maggie ran into Hope at the Java Café, and asked if the Bradys' house guest was staying with them for a while. Hope replied, "I don't know; I haven't met her myself." Hope confided that she and Ciara had moved into Victor's for a little while. Maggie was stunned. Hope then asked about Bo's house guest. Maggie admitted that she hadn't met the woman; she'd only seen her from the back, wrapped in a blanket, and had actually thought it was Hope. Clearly rattled, Hope left.
Before Bo could lay down the law to Carly, he heard a car door, and hurriedly sent Carly back to the dining room. Hope entered, on the pretense of looking for something Ciara had forgotten, and then remarked casually, "I hear we have a houseguest. Where is she?" She explained that she'd just run into Maggie, who had filled her in.
Bo covered, claiming that Maggie had misunderstood, and his visitor-someone Hope didn't know-had since left. Hope picked up the blanket, which was messily tossed on the back of the couch, and hurled it at Bo before storming out.
Carly returned and apologized for further complicating the situation between Bo and Hope. "You are just so lost without her, aren't you?" Carly was adamant that she shouldn't stay any longer, since they had already had two close calls. Bo was just as adamant that she stay there-and stay hidden-and promised to protect her for "as long as it takes."
10/29 Bo chastised Carly for being downstairs in his house where someone could see her. She felt uncomfortable staying there, because her presence seemed to be causing tension between him and Hope, so she asked to go back to her boat. However, Bo insisted that she stay at his place, where she would be safe. Carly agreed to stay with him, but she still wanted to go back to the boat to take care of something.
Bo asked what she had to do on the boat, and Carly said she needed to check on her friends. He offered to drive her there, but she wanted to walk. He pointed out that she would be recognized even in her disguise. He ordered her to go upstairs while he fixed some coffee for her. She pretended to head upstairs but sneaked out the door instead. Bo realized that she had left, so he grabbed his gun and ran after her.
Carly went back to the boat to check on Rafe, but when she walked into the room, she noticed he was gone. Bo sneaked up behind her and startled her. He demanded to know what she was doing. Carly explained that she returned to the boat to check on someone they had fished out of the water and she was nursing back to health because she couldn't take him to a hospital if he had enemies.
Bo said he would have looked to see if the man had enemies if Carly had told him about her patient. Bo asked where the man was, but Carly didn't know. Carly introduced Omar to Bo. Bo planned to check with the police station to see if there were any reports about a missing man fitting the description of the man that Carly had saved.
Carly felt like she was a burden to Bo, because he had spent so much time protecting her. She apologized for sneaking out, but said she was worried about her patient. He said that her patient might turn on her, but she had a feeling that her patient was a good guy. Carly broke down into tears once she thought about how much she had loved Lawrence and yet had ended up killing him, anyway.
10/30 Bo tried to console Carly, who was sobbing despondently over having killed her husband. Bo reminded her that she had only done so in self-defense. Carly was certain that it didn't matter, since Lawrence was a powerful man, and she would have to pay for what she'd done. After Bo fielded a work call, Carly marveled at her ex's status as police commissioner. Bo pointed out that it also made him better able to protect her, assuring her that he understood why she'd had to do what she'd done.
Carly was sincerely appreciative, but still worried that Lawrence's men would find her. "I took a life. They're going to want mine in return." Bo reiterated his pledge to protect Carly and help her through her ordeal. Carly declared that she never could have killed Lawrence if it had only been to escape his cruelty, and Bo concurred, noting that Lawrence had planned to kill. Carly blamed herself for not leaving Lawrence, since their marriage had really ended years before. Taking her hand, Bo reassured her that she was not alone-and he wouldn't let anyone hurt her.
11/3 Worried about Carly's safety, Bo took her up to his bedroom and told her that it was the most secure room in the house. Carly did not want to displace Bo, but he insisted he would feel better if he slept on the couch in front of the staircase so that no one could get to her. Carly suggested that they call Justin for help, but Bo vetoed the idea and cited the possibility that Victor would discover she was back in town.
Carly worried that Bo was overreacting to her suggestion to turn to Justin for help because Justin had assisted Hope in moving out of the house. Bo admitted that he was upset with Justin, but that he would not stand in Carly's way if that was what she wanted to do. Bo offered to contact Justin on her behalf and urged her to sleep and stay inside the house.
At the Brady Pub, Hope told Justin that Ciara was unhappy with her for moving away from home. Hoping to cheer up Hope, Justin took a funny picture of Hope, making Ciara laugh. Ciara said that she wanted to include Hope in her collage of things that she was grateful for, and then hugged her mother.
After Hope left for the Kiriakis mansion, Bo met up with Justin at the Brady Pub to ask about legal advice for "a friend." Before Bo could explain the facts of his friend's case, he noticed the picture on Justin's phone. "What are you doing with a picture of my wife on your phone?" Bo asked in an annoyed tone. Justin explained what happened earlier with Ciara, and Bo seemed to calm down. Justin inquired about Bo's friend, and Bo admitted that the person was Carly Manning.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope told Victor that she needed to go back to her house to retrieve a photo for Ciara's collage, but that she was worried she would run into Bo. Hope admitted that she also was hoping that she would run in to Bo, as well, because she missed him. Victor urged Hope to go visit Bo. With a wide grin on her face, Hope ran out of the mansion.
Back at her own home, Hope grabbed the photo that she needed and then started to leave. At the doorway, Hope decided to go upstairs and see Bo before she left. As Carly lay asleep in Hope's bed, Hope entered the darkened bedroom and saw her lying on the bed.
11/4 At the Brady Pub, Justin was surprised when Bo informed him that Carly Manning was the friend who needed a lawyer. Justin immediately deduced that it had something to do with Lawrence Alamain's murder. Bo confirmed it, adding that Lawrence's people were out for revenge, and Carly needed someone who had experience with international law. Bo continued that Carly would have to fill in Justin on the rest of the details, but stressed that no one else could know she was in town—especially Hope.
Justin wanted to know where Carly was staying, and was taken aback to learn that she was staying with Bo. Bo asserted that he couldn't have just turned her away when she'd shown up. Justin understood, and after some prodding from Bo, agreed to at least talk with Carly.
Hope was livid to find a strange woman in her bed, so she flipped on the lights and demanded to know who the woman was. Carly awkwardly introduced herself, explaining that she'd gone to Bo because he was the only person who could help her, and he had only kept her presence a secret because she'd insisted. Hope asked if Carly were there because of Lawrence's murder.
"Yes," Carly replied. "I killed him. And now his men want my head." Hope was furious that her own family was in danger thanks to Carly's reckless actions, and threatened to have Carly arrested on the spot.
"Please don't," Carly pleaded. "At least hear me out first."
Carly described how she and Lawrence had once shared a great, normal life with their son, Nikki. But after Nikki had grown up, Lawrence had gotten very sick and almost died. Afterwards, he'd been a completely different man. He became paranoid, abusive, and dangerous and would have killed Carly if she hadn't killed him. An unsympathetic Hope pointed out that Salem would be the first place Lawrence's men would look. Carly insisted that she'd had to return to Salem, because Bo was the only person who could help her but he couldn't do so if Hope turned Carly in.
Unmoved, Hope declared, "I want you out of here, now.” Their argument continued downstairs until Justin and Bo entered. Hope confronted her husband: "I finally met our elusive houseguest. You failed to mention that you were once engaged to this woman."
Bo and Hope went outside to have some privacy. Hope blasted Bo for inviting a murderer into their home, regardless of whether the murder had been justified. Bo countered that Hope had moved out and taken their daughter with her, and that was the only reason he'd even considered letting Carly stay there. Hurt, Hope reminded him why she'd left, adding, "I never realized that my taking a break meant that this was no longer my home."
Hope wondered why Bo hadn't at least let her know before allowing "that woman" into their home. Bo quietly noted that Hope hadn't let him know before she'd packed up and left with Ciara, with no contact for days, and then moved into the house of a criminal. Full disclosure was a two-way street, he added. Hope argued that what she'd done hadn't put their family in danger, and suspected that there had to be more to Carly's story for Bo to be covering for her.
Inside, Justin asked Carly why she had run if she'd really killed Lawrence in self-defense, but Carly insisted that she'd only run to save her life. Just then, Hope and Bo returned. Hope repeated her assertion that Carly wasn't telling them the whole story. "If you expect us to keep our mouths shut, you're going to have to tell us everything." Carly maintained that she already had.
A phone call from Victor interrupted them. He informed Hope that Ciara had awakened from a nightmare and was asking for her mommy. Hope hung up and told Bo that he and Carly had 24 hours to straighten things out before Hope turned Carly in.
After Hope left, Justin said he knew that Carly had told Bo the whole story, and asked her to trust him as much as she'd trusted Bo. "What really happened between you and Lawrence, and how in the world did he provoke you into committing murder?" A defensive Carly declared that she'd told Justin everything she could, but it wasn't enough. "So to hell with you! I'll find somebody else." Justin replied that unless he knew every detail about what had happened, he couldn't represent Carly in a court of law. He left after urging Carly to call him if she changed her mind.
"What am I going to do?" Carly fretted to Bo. "No one can know the extent of Lawrence's evil, because it's way too dangerous." She almost broke down as she reminded Bo, "It's not just my life that's at stake here; it's somebody else's." Bo put his arms around her, reassuring her that they would find a way out of it.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Victor told Hope that Ciara had been crying that she missed her father and wanted to go home. Hope snapped that the situation was difficult for her, too, but if she'd stayed with Bo, Ciara would have picked up on the tension between her parents. Victor asked whether Hope and Bo had made any progress toward working things out. Hope replied that things were more complicated than ever, but wouldn't tell Victor anything more. Victor wanted to know if something had happened when Hope had gone to her house.
11/5 Bo told Carly to go upstairs and get some rest, but she was worried that Hope might turn her in. Bo reminded Carly that Hope said she wouldn't do anything for 24 hours, but Carly wasn't convinced. Bo got angry and yelled, "You can trust her." Brady told Carly to calm down, and he assured Carly that Hope wouldn't break her word. Bo wanted to know more about the man that Carly nursed back to health. Carly felt bad about disrupting Bo's life.
Carly didn't want to go upstairs, so Bo tried to convince Carly to let Justin help her by telling him why she killed Lawrence. She refused to talk to Justin about it. Bo said he respected the way Carly protected the people she cared about, although he was annoyed by how stubborn she could be. Carly worried that she put his family in danger. She asked about Shawn, and Bo told her that he had a child of his own. Carly teased Bo, calling him Grandma. Bo showed Carly a picture of Zack and explained how Zack had died. Carly wanted to leave, but Bo stopped her. He said that if Hope knew why Carly killed Lawrence, Hope would be willing to help.
Carly dreamt that Lawrence was standing over her while she was sleeping on Bo's sofa. Bo tried to protect her from Lawrence, but he stabbed Bo. Bo woke Carly up and explained that she was just dreaming. Carly was adamant about leaving Bo's place so that she didn't put Bo in any danger. As soon as Carly opened the door, the Feds were there to arrest her.
Victor asked Hope what happened to upset her, but she was evasive. He guessed that Bo did something to upset her and offered to talk to him. Victor insisted that something bad must have happened, and Hope admitted it. Victor asked if Bo threatened Hope, and she said "no." Hope thought about how she went home and saw Carly sleeping in her bed.
Hope admitted that she had hoped to find Bo despondent when she went home, but Bo wasn't like that. He had moved on to other women when Hope wasn't in his life in years past. Victor said that she was the love of Bo's life. Hope mentioned Carly, and Victor said that Carly couldn't compare to Hope. Hope asked why Victor had married Carly. He said he did it out of gratitude for Carly saving his life, but he called Carly a "predator" for playing the innocent role. Hope asked Justin about Bo's past with Carly. Hope made a phone call.
11/9 Bo visited Carly in jail and told her there was no progress in his negotiation with Interpol. Carly wanted to know who notified the authorities that she was in town.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope told Justin that Carly had been arrested, so they went to the police station. Bo asked when Carly would be extradited, and he urged the district attorney to protect Carly's identity. When Hope and Justin arrived, Bo asked which of them had turned Carly in. Bo chastised Justin and Hope for putting Carly in danger, because people wanted Carly dead. Justin told Bo that they hadn't turned Carly in. Bo asked who else knew that Carly was in town. "Obviously someone knew," Hope said.
Bo asked if she expected him to believe that it was a coincidence that the federal authorities showed up at Bo's home an hour after Hope left. Hope said that was exactly what she was saying. Bo thought that it was also a "coincidence" that Hope showed up at the police station knowing that Carly had been arrested. Hope said that Bennet had called to inform her that Bo was at the station with a woman and Interpol was involved. Hope felt that Bo thought she was lying, and especially didn't believe Hope.
Bo stopped Justin from offering to help Carly and ordered him to let her find a lawyer she could trust. Justin told Bo to stop "being a jackass" and "playing savior with Carly's life." Justin went to talk to Carly. Hope insisted that she kept her word about waiting 24 hours before turning Carly in, but Bo didn't believe her.
Bo told Hope that she had made decisions and moved on with her life, but it only affected him and Ciara. However, Hope's decisions were starting to affect Carly, Bo said. He didn't want their problems to sign Carly's "death warrant." The DA told Bo that he got permission to extradite Carly right away. Hope asked Bo how she could help, and he said she could find the person who turned Carly in. Victor walked into the station and admitted that he did it. Justin couldn't believe that Carly thought he was competing with Bo. Carly urged Justin to get her out of jail instead of interrogating her. The district attorney told Carly that it was time to extradite her.
11/10 At the police station, Victor informed Hope and Bo that he was the one that turned Carly into the authorities. When Bo asked Victor how he knew Carly was in town, Victor smirked and looked at Hope. Startled, Hope denied that she told Victor anything. Victor admitted that he did not learn the news from Hope, but Bo told Hope that he thought she must have somehow tipped Victor off to Carly's whereabouts.
Furious, Hope stormed out of the station. Victor told Bo that when he heard that Carly had stabbed Lawrence, that he figured she would have run straight to Bo. Snarling, Bo accused Victor of harboring a grudge against Carly. Bo swore to help Carly, and headed down to see her.
Still hurt, Hope said to Victor, "I opened myself up to you in a weak moment and I thought you actually cared, Victor." Victor assured Hope that he did care and that was why he took steps to protect her by turning Carly in. Victor admitted that seeing Carly get arrested was "a bonus," but that he had turned her in to save Hope and Bo's marriage.
Bo ordered Cobbs to leave the jail, so Cobbs left to make a phone call. Bo urged Carly not to give up hope, and he reiterated his promise to help and protect Carly. Bo informed Carly that Victor learned that she was in town from something that Hope had said to him. Carly urged Bo not to be angry with Hope, but Bo resisted. Citing Bo's troubles with his wife, Carly said that it was the reason she was afraid to accept help from him in the first place. Justin returned to tell Carly that he had stopped the extradition and gotten her released into Bo's custody. "Forget it," Carly responded. Citing her fear of causing more trouble for Bo, Carly refused to go home with him. Bo told Carly that she had returned to Salem for a reason and that she needed to think about that.
Upstairs in the precinct, Victor warned Hope that Carly was "a menace" and that Hope needed to make sure that Carly did not insert herself in Bo's life. Noting that Bo entered the room, Victor left to see Carly. Downstairs in the cell block, Victor warned Carly that he would not let her "destroy Bo's life."
Bo told Hope that Carly was going to be released to his custody. "Does that mean she'll be moving back in with you?" Hope asked. Hope told Justin that she was impressed with his legal wrangling, and headed back to the Kiriakis mansion.
11/12 Bo was angry at Victor for tipping off the Feds, but Carly wasn't surprised. She knew that he did it to prevent Carly from causing trouble for Bo and Hope. Bo acknowledged that he and Hope were having a difficult time, but he assured her that it wasn't because of Carly.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Justin apologized to Hope for getting involved with Carly's case. Hope understood and said he was doing the right thing, because Carly wouldn't get a fair trial if she had been extradited.
Bo arrived at the Kiriakis mansion to give Hope something for Ciara. He asked to be invited in, and Hope told him that Ciara wasn't there. He said he didn't just stop by to see Ciara -- he wanted to see Hope, too, so he could apologize. Hope said that Bo didn't need to apologize. She admitted that she was "furious" when Bo thought that she had turned Carly in. He realized that he should have trusted Hope, and Hope admitted that she shouldn't have trusted Victor.
Bo knew that Victor was smart enough to figure it out. Bo asked why Hope was "picking Victor's brain about Carly." She said it was because Carly was a big part of Bo's life at one time when Bo thought that Hope was gone. Hope wondered if Carly would replace her again. He said that no one had ever did, nor would they ever, replace Hope in his heart. He wondered how they could get past their trust issues. He suggested they go to counseling.
Hope said she wanted to go home with Bo. She said that they needed to work on their trust, and they could only do that when they were together. Bo agreed, but he wanted to know if she was saying that because she wanted to return home or if she wanted to keep an eye on Carly.
11/13 Bo asked whether Hope wanted to move back home because she wanted to rebuild their life together, or because she wanted to keep an eye on Carly. Hope admitted it was both, because she wasn't comfortable with the woman who had once replaced her living in Hope's house with Hope's husband. Bo insisted that Carly had never replaced Hope, and was not a threat to their marriage. "Fancy Face, you're the love of my life. You're my family," Bo declared, adding that he was not fool enough to give that up just because Carly had returned to town. Hope was unsure, so Bo assumed that she didn't trust him to be faithful. Hope argued that it was Carly she didn't trust. Bo countered that Carly was in trouble and had nowhere else to go, and suggested that Hope should get to know Carly. Hope replied sarcastically that she wasn't interested in getting to know a murderer, then back pedaled and apologized for not being more compassionate. Shifting gears even further, Hope sat next to her husband and kissed him, happy that they were back together-and excited to tell Ciara that the two of them were going home. Bo reluctantly stated that it wasn't a good idea, because Carly's life was in danger and it wasn't safe for Hope and Ciara to move back home yet. Although Bo reminded her that he was legally Carly's guardian until things were resolved, Hope was angry.
Bo tried to explain that there was more to the story, but he couldn't tell Hope everything without compromising her and Ciara's safety, as well as that of other innocent people. "But it's okay to compromise our marriage?" Hope asked. Bo apologized, but refused to put his family at even more risk. Hope quietly told him to leave. Hope was waiting on the front stairs of the mansion when Justin returned home, frustrated because he hadn't found a way to keep Carly from being extradited. Hope informed Justin that she'd decided to go home, but Bo had said it was too dangerous as long as Carly was living there. Justin agreed, but maintained that Bo was only trying to protect Hope and Ciara. Hope understood that, but choked back tears as she added that it felt like her husband had rejected her for another woman. Justin urged her not to look at it that way, pointing out that at least she and Bo had opened the lines of communication again. Hope admitted that they had talked openly and honestly for the first time in a while, until Bo had treated her proposed return like an inconvenience. Justin was optimistic that they would work things out, as they had after Zack's death, but Hope confessed, "I'm really scared for my marriage."
Caroline visited Bo at the police station to chide him about what was going on with Hope and Carly. He confessed that Carly had already caused problems in his marriage, but knew that he and Hope would eventually work through it. Caroline was not pleased, but Bo argued that he had to obey the court order, while not endangering his wife and daughter. "Bo, what do you guess Pop would say about this?" Caroline asked pointedly. Bo squirmed, but grudgingly admitted, "He would say I'm being a damn fool."
Caroline reminded her son that Hope and Ciara were his family, and therefore his first priority. Bo agreed, so she told him to prove it by asking Carly to move out. "I can't do that, Ma," Bo replied, insisting that he had the situation under control. "Fine," Caroline conceded with a sigh. "But when it comes down to saving Carly or your marriage, I hope you make the right choice."
11/16 Bo returned home to find Carly gone. He checked the laptop for clues to where she had gone. He grabbed his gun and went looking for her. Bo found Carly talking to Mia on the docks and interrupted their conversation and asked Carly what she was doing there. Carly apologized for leaving the way she did, but Bo said he wasn't upset about that, he saw that she had used his computer and knew what she was up to. He reminded her that she faced extradition and the Alamains were after her, as well, so Carly needed to hide. Carly hugged Mia goodbye.
When Carly and Bo returned home, Carly suggested that Bo harass Chad for calling Mia a "slut." Carly said that if she didn't do what she was in town for, she might never get the chance. Carly was restless and hated being dependent on Bo. He tried to calm her down, but she said that she had nightmares about stabbing Lawrence. Carly said there was a moment after she stabbed him that he knew that he was dying and that she was the one who did it. Carly was distraught that she killed someone despite being a doctor. Bo tried to reassure her that she did it because she had to. Bo got a call about Lawrence.
11/17 At the police station, Justin looked over a fax and shook his head. "I don't get it. Why would you lie to us, Carly?" Justin said. After receiving a quick phone call from Justin, Bo arrived at the station with Carly in tow. With a smile on his face, Justin announced that Carly was not going to be deported, since someone had stepped forward and confessed to killing Lawrence. Confused, Carly told Bo that she was the one that had killed Lawrence and no one else. After thinking about it for a moment, Bo theorized that someone was playing mind games with Carly and doing this to "toy with her life."
In the Java Café, Gus told Vivian that her plan to have another person confess to Lawrence's murder was complete. Unsure of Vivian's reasons for letting Carly get away with murdering her nephew, Gus asked her why. Vivian explained that she wanted to be the one to punish Carly.
11/18 At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope was worried about her marriage, and how Bo's protection of Carly might damage it even further. Justin reassured Hope that she wasn't alone, and Bo walked in just as the two of them were embracing. A resentful Bo expressed his displeasure, but Hope accused him of overreacting. Justin excused himself, but on his way out, warned Bo, "You're acting like a complete jerk!" Hope concurred, which rankled Bo. He lashed out irritably about how hard it was not to be suspicious of Justin's motives, but Hope shushed him lest Ciara hear them arguing. Bo then tried to tell Hope that Carly had been exonerated. Hope interrupted and informed him that Justin had already told her. They agreed that it was good news, although Bo wondered how Justin had managed to break the news in such a way that he had to console Hope afterward. Hope pointed out, "When it comes to Carly, when it comes to the Alamains, things aren't always what they seem to be. This could be a setup. Carly's going to need you now more than ever." She asked if Bo would share Carly's secret, but he asserted that it wasn't his secret to tell, which irked Hope. Bo reminded her that she had taken Ciara and moved out before Carly had even arrived in town.
"Point taken. Everything's my fault," Hope replied sarcastically. Exasperated, Bo contended that Carly wasn't the problem; the problem was that Hope didn't seem to want him to be himself anymore. "You know who I am," he declared. "I haven't changed: I do not coddle kidnappers. And I don't like it when my cousin has his arms wrapped around you all the time." He became even more incensed as he continued, "I get mad, and I say the wrong thing. And I do love my wife and I love my child more than life itself. And if that doesn't work out for you, I'm sorry."
Bo stormed out in frustration just as Justin returned. He offered to go after Bo to apologize, but Hope declined. She then wondered aloud why Carly would confess to a murder she hadn't committed. Hope theorized that Carly really had done it, and the person who had taken the fall was working for someone who wanted to set Carly up.
A process server arrived with divorce papers for Justin. Hope asked if he'd been expecting them. "I knew that our problems were serious," Justin replied with a sigh. "But I thought she would at least wait until we could talk about it face-to-face." Hope sympathized. Justin started talking about hiring a divorce attorney, but stopped himself. "I'm not ready to go into lawyer mode," he said. "And I can't pretend that this doesn't really hurt." Placing her hand on his shoulder comfortingly, Hope reassured him that he didn't have to pretend with her.
Vivian and Carly's venomous banter continued until Bo arrived, livid that Vivian had gotten past his security. Vivian just chirped that they all simply must catch up while she was in town, and left, blowing insincere kisses. Bo and Carly watched from the doorway as Vivian left; they agreed that the "dragon lady" had surely returned to town to exact revenge. Bo warned Carly that Vivian didn't make idle threats, and urged Carly to get out of town-quickly. "I'm not leaving Salem, not now, not ever," Carly replied firmly. "And you know why."
11/24 At the Java café, Vivian surprised Victor. Vivian feigned shock at Victor's vitriolic greeting, and Victor asked her whether she was in town to get revenge on Carly. Vivian denied Victor's accusation, but he was not swayed by her argument. Vivian assured Victor that Carly was innocent of Lawrence's murder. "Innocent? Lady Macbeth had less blood on her hands," Victor retorted. Vivian said that although she was no fan of Carly, she was willing to let "bygones be bygones."
With a twinkle in his eye, Victor theorized that Vivian wanted Carly to be free so that Vivian could exact her own revenge. Victor urged Vivian to make a move soon. She asks what his rush is, could it be that he wants that “black widow” out of his son’s home? With a smirk, Victor asked Vivian for advice on how to free Bo from Carly. Vivian offered that someone without a bias toward Carly should talk to Bo about the facts. Victor warned Vivian that there was nothing between the two of them. Vivian suggested that they shared a mutual hatred for Carly and that they could build off of that.
In Bo's living room, Carly informed Bo that she would be going after her future. Carly went to visit Maggie at her house and asked her to talk to the staff at the hospital about reinstating Carly as a doctor there. Maggie happily agreed to recommend Carly.
At the Brady Pub, Hope asked Abe for a new job away from Bo. When Hope mentioned that she and Ciara were living with Victor, Abe responded that he could not hire her as long as she was living in the Kiriakis mansion. Hope appealed to Abe by noting that Ciara was happy to be able to spend time with her grandfather. Noting that Carly had been exonerated, Abe asked Hope why Carly was still living with Bo.
Hope and Ciara stopped by Bo's to visit. After noting her distaste for working Ciara's visits around Carly's schedule, Hope told Bo that she had to run some errands and would return later. Nodding, Bo went upstairs to check on his daughter. As Hope crossed to the front door, she noticed Carly's purse on the coffee table. Hope thought about her conversation with Bo about Carly having a secret, and grabbed the purse off of the table.
"I can't do this. I can't invade her privacy," Hope muttered to herself. "On the other hand, she invaded my house," Hope added. Determined, Hope opened the purse and began to rifle through the contents. With her mind focused on finding evidence of Carly's secret, Hope failed to notice that Bo had returned to the living room and was watching her look through Carly's purse. "What are you doing?" Bo asked.
11/25 Bo caught Hope rummaging unapologetically through Carly's bag, looking for evidence of Carly's secret. Bo disapproved, but Hope contended that it was her house, so she had every right to go through Carly's things. She pointed out that Carly and her secret were making things more difficult between Bo and Hope. Bo maintained that Carly wasn't the root of the problem, and that she regretted any problems she may have exacerbated.
A skeptical Hope declared that Carly was a liar. Bo countered that Hope could only speculate about what Carly's had done or what her life had been like. Hope argued that regardless of the motive, Carly had admitted to killing her husband and Bo was willing to throw everything away to protect Carly. Hope worried that Carly could be playing mind games with Bo, but he insisted that wasn't the case. Nonetheless, Hope could not forgive him for putting himself in danger by trusting Carly. As Hope left, Bo could only shake his head in exasperation.
Victor met Hope at the door as she arrived home to the Kiriakis mansion, and invited her to join him and his guest for a drink. Hope was taken aback to see Vivian in the parlor. Vivian gushed about how beautiful Hope looked, while Hope tried hard to remain civil. When Hope headed upstairs, Vivian stopped her, asking why Hope wasn't curious about why Vivian was back.
As Victor left to take a phone call, Hope replied to Vivian that she wasn't interested. Vivian pressed on, declaring that she would not let her nephew-whose death haunted her day and night-be forgotten. Suspicious, Hope remarked that it couldn't be a coincidence that after years of being away, Vivian had arrived in town right after Carly Manning had. Vivian countered that Hope was likely even unhappier than Vivian was about Carly's exoneration for Lawrence's murder.
Carly returned to the Brady house and informed Bo that she'd decided to move out and in with Maggie. "Let me get this straight," Bo questioned. "You're planning to move into the same house as your daughter?" Carly nodded sheepishly.
11/27 Bo warned Carly that moving into the same house where her daughter lived would put her daughter's life in danger. He reminded her that Vivian was out for revenge. Carly countered that Vivian would have thrown it in her face had she known Carly had a daughter. She explained that Lawrence had been so enraged and humiliated that she'd had a child by another man that he would never have told Vivian about it. Carly adamantly declared that Lawrence could no longer keep her daughter away from her.
After Bo returned from the kitchen with a couple of beers, Carly admitted with a grin that she was a little afraid to live under the same roof with her daughter after so many years. She related how Lawrence had become a completely different man after his illness, especially after learning that he couldn't have more children. He had hated the very existence of Carly's daughter, and so had banished the child - and relished Carly's pain. "I just said to myself, 'She's going to be okay,'" Carly continued. "Until he wanted her dead."
Carly showed Bo a picture of her daughter, and they both wondered how Lawrence could hate a child. Carly recalled how Lawrence had shown her a photo of the girl years after banishing her, but immediately snatched it away, spouting hateful, disparaging vitriol about the child and how Carly had cuckolded him. Carly had tearfully urged him to calm down. "Oh I will," Lawrence retorted nastily. "Everything's going to be fine. The screaming in my head will stop...when she's dead!"
Bo tried to comfort Carly as she sobbed on his shoulder, remembering how Lawrence had ripped up the picture despite Carly's protests that her daughter was just an innocent child. "I had to do it," s he cried of stabbing Lawrence to death afterward. "He was going to kill my baby."
Later that night, Bo found Carly on the sofa, holding one of Ciara's dolls, and both admitted that they had been unable to sleep. Carly confided that she was looking forward to getting to know her daughter. Bo cautioned her that Vivian would be very curious as to why Carly had moved in with Mickey and Maggie. Carly replied that she would simply try to keep her distance from her daughter, but Bo knew it would be difficult.
After Bo got a call from Chelsea, he explained to Carly that his elder daughter called him sometimes before her morning run in London, to wish him goodnight. Carly hoped that she and her daughter could someday have the same kind of close relationship that Bo and Chelsea did. Bo told her that things hadn't always been good between them, but all the turmoil had ultimately been worth it. He believed that Carly's daughter would eventually forgive and respect her for what she'd done, although it might take some time. A grateful Carly thanked Bo for being in her corner.
12/1 At the Brady Pub, Bo offered to help Roman with Sydney's kidnapping, but Roman requested that Bo give up on his "obsession" with Carly instead. Roman reminded Bo that he may have hurt Abe politically by helping Carly. When Roman rattled of the list of people that were hurting because of Carly, Bo responded that Carly was moving out of his house. Bo cautioned Roman that Carly still needed his help. Roman warned Bo to get his "marriage back on track."
At the Cheatin' Heart, Carly approached Hope and asked for an honest conversation. "So are you going to admit that you came back to Salem to steal my husband?" Hope quipped. Carly assured Hope that she had no intention of pursuing Bo when he loved his wife so much. Noting Vivian's change of heart, Hope pushed Carly to explain the real reason that she was remaining in Salem.
Uncomfortable, Carly assured Hope that although she could not explain to Hope why she was staying in town, she was going to move out of Hope's house. Carly noted that her main concern was to stop causing trouble in Bo and Hope's marriage and to start her new life without Lawrence. Suspicious, Hope told Carly that although she knew she was hiding something, she was relieved that Carly was moving out of her house.
"That doesn't mean he is going to walk away from you," Hope added. "That's right," Bo interrupted. Feeling awkward, Carly excused herself and left. Hope said that Carly told her that she was moving out, but that she still felt like Bo was going to continue to be involved with Carly. "You going to keep pretending that your involvement with her doesn't affect us?" Hope asked. Bo agreed that Carly's presence affected their relationship but that he felt like there was no longer an impediment to Hope moving back in. Shaking her head, Hope explained that Bo's attachment to Carly prevented her from going home. Bo kissed Hope passionately, and told her he loved her. Overcome with emotion, Hope ran out of the bar.
12/4 Carly carried her single suitcase down the stairs at Bo's house, and admitted to Bo that she was nervous about living with her daughter at Maggie's house. "I can't even tell her I'm her mother," she noted wryly. Bo reminded Carly that she didn't have to move out right away. She thanked him for taking care of her without making her feel weak, as Lawrence had, and for helping her to not feel scared anymore.
Bo was giving Carly a friendly goodbye hug when Philip walked in the front door. After Bo introduced them, Philip remarked snidely that he felt like he already knew Carly, adding, "Were you going to marry my brother before or after you married my father?" Bo tried to apologize for Philip, but Carly was unfazed. On her way out, she told Philip sweetly, "Best to your father. You remind me of him."
Bo chided his brother for being rude, then asked why he was there. Philip replied that he'd wanted to invite Bo out for a beer, but he was no longer sure he wanted advice from someone whose wife and daughter were living elsewhere while he entertained an ex-lover. Bo retorted that Philip truly was a lot like Victor. Philip then realized that Carly had shown up in town out of the blue, and he didn't think it was a coincidence that Vivian had arrived almost immediately afterward.
Philip noted that Vivian and Victor had become "quite friendly," but probably only because Victor knew it bugged Kate. Bo sympathized with Philip's "mommy wars," but Philip pointed out that Bo's mother was a good, decent woman, plus Bo had been raised by Shawn Brady instead of his biological father, Victor. Bo had to leave for the police station.
Bo was at the Brady Pub later when Mia approached, wondering if he knew anything about Sydney. Bo understood why Mia was worried, since she'd believed for a long time that Sydney was her baby. "And those feelings don't just go away," he noted, adding with a warm smile, "That's what moms are like." Mia shook her head glumly. "Not my mom." Bo offered to call Mia if there were any news about Sydney. "Will always said you were really nice," Mia remarked, touched. "Of course, his whole family is really nice. I always wondered what it would be like to have a family like that." Eyes twinkling, Bo joked, "You obviously have not met his Grandma Kate."
After Mia left, Philip joined Bo, complaining that the self-righteous Nathan thought Philip wasn't good enough for Melanie. Bo was surprised that Philip was still interested in Melanie, and pointed out that Philip's track record with women wasn't good. "It's good of you to care, Bo," Philip declared ironically. "But Nathan dumped her, and I now have a shot. I'm not going to blow it this time."
12/7 In the park, Hope told Ciara that Bo would love the Christmas gift that Ciara got for him, but he would love the paperweight she made for him even more. Hope asked Ciara to find a good hiding place for the present, and Ciara suggested hiding it under her bed at her "real home." Hope reminded her that someone else was staying there, but Bo said that no one else was at the house, just him. Bo pretended to guess what his present was. He gave her some money and told her to give it to the Santa.
Bo acknowledged that he should have asked Hope if it was okay for Ciara to see Santa Claus. Hope acknowledged that she had the tendency of being overprotective. Bo understood, because he felt the same way. Ciara returned and asked if they could go home, and Hope said yes. When they got home, Hope reminded Ciara to hide Bo's gift somewhere safe. Ciara ran upstairs to hide it. Bo said that all Ciara wanted "was a Christmas tree and presents." "... And us, just like it used to be," Hope said.
Bo told Hope that Ciara was playing with her dollhouse and wanted to know if she could stay there longer. Hope said it was okay. Bo offered Hope some tea, and Hope said she felt like a guest. "Move back in. I'll never offer you tea again," Bo said. Hope felt like it looked like she was the "bad guy."
"I never said that," Bo said. "You kinda did. You didn't disagree with me. Who's keeping her daughter from her father? Who's breaking her heart?" Hope said. Bo said that he didn't look at it that way. He said it was about the two of them. Hope said it was "more complicated." Bo said Carly was gone. Hope suggested that it would really be a "fantastic step in the right direction" if he would tell Hope what was really going on with Carly.
Bo asked why Hope couldn't accept that he couldn't tell Hope about Carly's secret. Hope said that they were partners and they had always shared everything. Bo pointed out that Hope was the one who moved out of the house. "It always comes back to that, doesn't it?" Hope asked. The doorbell rang. Hope answered the door, and it was Carly. Hope looked at Bo.
12/8 Hope was surprised when she opened her front door and found Carly. Smirking, Hope invited a hesitant Carly into her house. Carly told Bo that she was stopping by to tell him that she would not be moving in with Maggie. Worried, Hope demanded that Carly explain why she was "cozying" up to Hope's family. On the defensive, Carly said, "Not everything I do is connected to you."
Victor arrived at the house, visibly annoying by Carly's presence. "For God's sake get this intruder out of here," Victor barked. Bo started to warn Victor not to insult anyone in his home, but his speech was interrupted when Ciara ran down the staircase to hug her grandfather. Victor offered to take Ciara to his home for an early Christmas present, and Hope said that she would meet up with them later.
Once Victor was gone, Carly apologized for visiting the house, and Hope countered that she could forgive Carly if Carly would explain why she tried to move in with Maggie and why it did not work out. "Oh, I'm sorry. Just one more secret you don't want to share?" Hope said haughtily. Worried about the tension, Bo urged Hope to let the issue go.
"A lack of trust has been a major issue for us," Hope said pleadingly. Carly noted that she did not plan to have much contact with Bo anymore. Suspicious, Hope argued that Carly's explanation seemed hollow considering that she stopped by the house to tell Bo where she would be staying.
"You chose to come here to my house," Hope said as she advanced toward a clearly uncomfortable Carly. Interrupting, Bo said, "If this is your house, why did you leave it?" Backing away, Carly started to leave. "No, don't go. I should be the one going," Hope said. Grabbing her purse, Hope turned to Bo and said, "It was clearly a mistake for me to come here or to ever think that we could rebuild our family." Hurt, Bo watched in silence as his wife walked out the door.
"This has to end. We have to tell Hope about my daughter," Carly said firmly. "If it were just about that secret, I'd say, 'Yeah, let's tell Hope,'" Bo countered. Bo said that he worried that Hope would accidentally tell someone about Carly's daughter just like she had accidentally told Victor that Carly was in town. Noting Vivian's emergence in Salem, Bo reasoned that Vivian would likely be looking for Carly's daughter in order to hurt her.
Carly agreed with Bo's argument and then started to leave for the hotel. Noting the immense expense of the nearby hotel, Bo ordered Carly to move back in with him so that he could protect her. Looking unsure, Carly resisted. Bo asked why Carly had left Maggie's. When Bo asked whether Carly's daughter had vetoed her living there, Carly smiled. "You were right. I shouldn't have tried to rush things," Carly said. Carly worried aloud whether her daughter hated her.
At the Java Café, Hope asked Mia about how life was over at Maggie's house. After a couple of questions, Hope inquired whether anyone else besides Mia and Melanie was living at Maggie's house. Mia noted that a woman named Carly had started to move into the house but that she changed her mind. When Hope inquired about Mia's opinion of Carly, Mia admitted that her first impression was that "I couldn't really trust her and that I should stay away from her." While Hope looked on in stunned silence, Mia excused herself and went back to work behind the counter. "Hmmm. Smart girl," Hope mumbled to herself as she walked away.
12/9 Justin ran into Hope at the Java Café as she was getting some hot cocoa to take home for Ciara. Hope noted with chagrin that she, Bo, and Ciara were supposed to be decorating their Christmas tree that night, but "Carly happened." Justin was surprised, since Carly had moved out. Hope clarified that Carly said she was going to check into the Salem Inn, but Hope didn't believe it. Hope was still miffed that Carly had tried to move in with Hope's aunt and uncle and Hope was glad that Melanie and Mia had vetoed the idea.
Hope asserted to Justin that her gut instinct about why Carly had returned to town had been right. "It has nothing to do with a big secret," Hope maintained. "She came back to take my husband." Justin didn't buy it, but asked if Hope had a plan to fix things. Hope declared that she intended to find out Carly's secret, but would only smile mysteriously when Justin asked what she would do next.
Hope and Justin continued their discussion as they arrived at the Kiriakis mansion. Justin was worried that Hope was endangering herself needlessly, but Hope was resolved to put her detective skills to use. She pointed out that she and Bo couldn't work things out until Carly was out of the picture. Justin was frustrated for Bo and Hope that they couldn't find some way to get back together for the holidays, but instead Hope was trying to dig up dirt about Carly. Hope irritably asked Justin for his support, not his criticism, declaring, "Let's not forget; this is about Carly Manning having enough power over my husband to persuade him that I can't be trusted. Well, damn her!" Hope reiterated her vow to learn Carly's secret.
Hope was surprised later to find Vivian in the foyer with Victor. Victor informed his daughter-in-law that Vivian was moving in as his "special guest." Hope was taken aback, but then declared with a smile that it was a great idea.
At Bo and Hope's, Carly admitted to Bo that moving in with the Hortons to be close to her daughter had been a bad idea. "Now I think she actually hates me," Carly concluded sadly. She told Bo that her daughter had been hostile, and "the other girl" also hadn't wanted Carly to move in. It saddened Carly not to be able to reveal her identity to her daughter, but she hoped keeping the truth from Vivian would protect the girl's life.
Bo declared that the only way to keep Vivian from carrying out Lawrence's wishes to kill Carly's daughter was to eliminate Vivian. He quickly clarified that he just meant they should find something to use against Vivian, so she wouldn't hurt Carly or her daughter. Carly agreed that it was a nice idea, but she was skeptical that she would ever be able to tell anyone about her daughter.
Later, Bo donned a Santa hat while he set up the Christmas tree. Carly prepared to leave, so that Hope and Ciara could return to help him decorate it, but Bo pointed out that it was close to Ciara's bedtime. Carly declined his offer to spend the night, and then suddenly realized it was the anniversary of their symbolic wedding ceremony in Mexico. Bo admitted that he'd remembered, but had decided not to bring it up. They both recalled standing atop the Mayan pyramid, dressed in traditional costumes as they recited their vows.
Carly then insisted that she had to leave, but first earnestly told Bo, "Here's what I wish: I wish that you and Hope and Ciara all get back together this Christmas." A discouraged Bo admitted that he missed his family. Touching his face tenderly, Carly urged him not to give up on a love like his and Hope's. Justin arrived on the front porch right then, and spied Carly's loving gesture with dismay.
12/10 Bo confided in Carly how disappointed he was that he and Hope couldn't be together during the Christmas holiday. Carly encouraged him to be optimistic and told him not to give up. Justin arrived at Bo's house to talk to him, but when Justin looked in the window, he saw Carly and Bo in what looked like an intimate moment. Hope showed up with Ciara and wondered what Justin was doing there. Justin said that he stopped by to pick up a case file. Hope said Bo had texted them to tell them that the Christmas tree had arrived so that Ciara could help decorate it.
When Bo answered the door, he was surprised to see them. He thought that Ciara would be in bed. Hope reminded him that he invited them over. Hope asked if it was a bad time. Bo said it was a great time. When Ciara and Hope walked inside, Ciara saw Carly and said, "Mommy, what's she still doing here?"
Hope told Ciara that she was being impolite. Carly didn't mind. She said that Ciara "was just asking a question," but Hope insisted that it wasn't Ciara's place. Hope told Ciara that Bo was allowed to have company. "But, Mommy..." Ciara said. Bo told Ciara to help find the icicles for the tree. He asked if Justin was there to trim the tree also, but Justin said he was there to pick up a case file. Bo directed Justin to where the file was in the kitchen. Justin asked Carly to give Bo, Hope, and Ciara time alone. Justin and Carly went into the kitchen.
Ciara wanted Hope to join her and Bo in decorating the tree, but Hope wasn't planning to stay. Bo asked Hope to stay, and Ciara said, "Mommy, please." So, Hope agreed to stay. Hope asked Ciara to put a playlist of songs together on Hope's MP3 player, and Ciara went upstairs. Hope asked Bo not to put Ciara on the spot like that again. Bo wanted Ciara to see her parents get along. Hope thought that Ciara could still tell that something was wrong.
Justin and Carly emerged from the kitchen and said goodbye to Hope and Bo. After Ciara hung the last of the Christmas tree ornaments, Bo asked her to go to the kitchen and get some cookies to give him and Hope time to talk about Ciara's surprise gift. Bo and Hope remembered that the song that was playing had played when they renewed their wedding vows on Christmas Eve. Bo told Hope that he didn't want to be alone on Christmas, their anniversary and the anniversary of Zack's death. She said he wouldn't be alone. Ciara joined them with the cookies. Hope looked through the ornaments and found mistletoe.
Ciara wanted to hang it up, but Hope didn't want to. She said it was because the mistletoe was "old and dried up" and had "lost its magic." Bo helped Ciara put the star on top of the tree, and Hope realized that Ciara was getting sleepy, so she decided to take her home. Ciara asked Bo where Santa would leave her presents. Hope told her that there would be presents at Victor's house and at Bo's house.
12/11 On Bo and Hope's front porch, Justin tried to confront Bo about what Justin had seen through the door the night before. In a hurry to leave, Bo maintained that he and Carly had only been talking. He asked knowingly if Justin had brought the subject up with Carly, and Justin insisted he simply cared about Bo and Hope. Brushing past Justin, an annoyed Bo ordered his cousin, "Get a life, and stay out of ours and Carly's."
When Bo arrived, Sami flung her arms around her uncle and invited him in. Bo informed her that there were no new leads about Sydney's kidnapping, but he wanted to review the details of the case with Sami. Sami asserted that she was sure Stefano was behind it, and Bo agreed that Stefano was the only one with the resources to pull it off. Once they had discussed what she remembered from her phone call with Nicole, Sami said that it gave her hope to know that Bo and Hope had gotten Ciara back. Bo reassured Sami that they would find Sydney, and then left to meet with Roman.
Bo didn't have long to wonder what he'd walked in on, as Vivian arrived immediately after the others had gone. Vivian happily declared that she had something to tell Bo. Bo stopped her, ordering her to stay away from Carly. Vivian protested indignantly, but Bo cut her off, declaring, "No matter what you say, I know you're plotting away in that demented head of yours - but you won't succeed." He added that the only way she would get to Carly was over his dead body. "Well, Bo, if that's the way it has to be, that's the way it has to be!" Vivian chirped as he walked away.
12/14 Bo went to the DiMera mansion to question Stefano. Stefano was on the phone at the time, and Bo walked into the room during the end of Stefano's conversation. "All will be revealed very soon. Be patient, and wait for further instructions," Stefano said to someone on the phone. Bo asked who he was talking to, and Stefano said, "Warren Buffet. He's passing through town next week. He wants to know if he can borrow my yacht."
Bo accused Stefano of knowing where Sydney was. Stefano took offense at Bo's insinuation and claimed to be "tortured" over his granddaughter's kidnapping. He said that of all people, Bo should understand what he was going through. Bo asked if Stefano had any idea where Sydney might be. He said that if he had an idea, he would have told E.J. first, not Bo. Stefano said that Sydney meant "the world" to him.
Bo tried to manipulate Stefano into admitting that he didn't have Sydney's well-being in mind when he tried to keep Sydney away from Sami. Bo said that Stefano was the only suspect that the police were looking at, and it was in Stefano's best interest to cooperate. Stefano recounted what Nicole said happened to Sydney, and he said that his men were looking for Sydney. Bo didn't want Stefano's interference, but Stefano said that Bo would never find Sydney without Stefano's help and resources.
Bo theorized that Stefano wanted to find Sydney to get back into E.J.'s good graces, but Stefano said that he only wanted to find Sydney for her safety, not for E.J. or Sami. After Bo left, Stefano held a picture of Sydney and said that people didn't realize how much he loved Sydney.
Justin met Bo at the Java Café to tell Bo that he believed Carly was only in town to destroy Bo's marriage. Bo wasn't concerned that Carly was applying for a job at the hospital. He told Justin to back off and stop worrying about Bo's marriage. He said that Justin needed to focus on his own marriage, while Bo dealt with Bo's marriage. Bo said that Justin only made things worse by trying to get involved. Justin agreed to stay out of it.
12/15 At the Java Café, Maggie opined to Justin that it was a huge mistake for Carly to work at the hospital, although she couldn't discern whether Carly still had feelings for Bo. Justin worried that Bo and Hope's problems were none of their business, but they both agreed that little Ciara deserved some happiness after everything she'd been through. Maggie noted, "She's not going to get it if her parents are estranged-or if Carly keeps moving in on Bo."
Bo found Carly on the pier and told her that he'd just learned what she was up to from Justin. Carly defensively insisted that Bo couldn't believe a word Justin said. She quickly apologized, but maintained that Justin thought her moving back to Salem was a bad idea, and reminded Bo that she was only staying in town to be near her daughter. Bo reluctantly stated that he agreed with Justin, but only because he knew Carly would go out of her way to run into her daughter. Carly replied that she had only wanted to take care of and love her little girl ever since giving her away-and she knew Bo understood why she couldn't leave town.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope caught Ciara shaking presents under the Christmas tree, and teased her daughter. Hope then asked Ciara to put a gift that she said was "for Ms. Alamain" under the tree. Vivian entered just then and seemed delighted at what she'd overheard. Hope sent Ciara upstairs, and confessed to Vivian that the gift was just her way of being polite. Hope added that since it was Ciara's first Christmas away from home, she wanted to make it as happy and normal as possible.
Vivian countered that trying to make Christmas magical for Victor would be difficult with Hope's "dark personal problems" interfering. Hope firmly assured Vivian that she wouldn't allow her problems to bring anyone else down. Vivian then asked nosily what had caused the rift between Hope and Bo. Hope informed her sadly that she and Bo had disagreed greatly over how to handle Ciara's kidnapping, and afterwards, things had only gotten worse.
Vivian asked gently if there were other issues. Hope accidentally blurted out Carly's name, but quickly apologized for mentioning her. "I'm no fan of my nephew's widow," Vivian assured Hope. "So if there's any problem between you and Bo, and it involves Carly Manning, you just call me and I'll be there." Hope feigned surprise, and thanked Vivian. Vivian embraced Hope, noting that they had to look out for one another, since they were living under the same roof. Hope looks surprised and interested as Vivian walks away.
Carly and Bo returned to his house so she could retrieve something she'd forgotten. As Carly was leaving, she dropped her purse, spilling its contents on the floor. Bo was surprised to see the Mayan scroll from his and Carly's wedding ceremony among her things.
Hope joined Justin at the Java Café, and they discussed Carly working at the hospital, which neither thought was a good thing. Hope was still determined to find out Carly's secret, possibly with Vivian's help, although she acknowledged that Justin had thought it was a bad idea for her to go behind Bo's back. "I've changed my mind," Justin declared. "I say go for it. More power to you."
12/18 A pleased Bo entered his living room to find Hope putting presents under their Christmas tree. Hope teased Bo not to peek at his presents, and Bo responded, "All I want for Christmas is you and Ciara home."
"Well that's up to you," Hope countered. Bo joked about Hope's interrogation skills, then reminded her that Hope was the one that left the house. "How do we get out of this pattern?" Bo pleaded. Citing the cause of their fights, Hope noted that Bo did not seem happy. Bo agreed that he was not happy. Bo reminded Hope that they vowed at their wedding to stick together through the best and worst times.
With a tired smile, Hope reminded Bo that he had taken those vows with more than one woman. Hope apologized for mentioning Carly, and added that she was bothered by Carly's secret. "I keep thinking about you and Billie when you found out your daughter was still alive," Hope said. "Tell me that you and Carly didn't have a baby," Hope begged.
"You really think that?" Bo said, shocked. Bo assured Hope that Carly's secret had nothing to do with him. "You have to trust me, your husband...for now," Bo said. "If you don't trust me I don't see that we have much of a marriage," Bo explained. Hurt, Hope noted that she was tired of Bo not answering her questions. Bo countered that Hope was demanding answers to questions that he was not at liberty to answer.
"Carly's rights trump everything, right? Even our marriage," Hope shrieked. "That's how you put it," Bo said calmly.
"This is how I put it," Hope said, then kissed Bo softly on the lips. "I love you, Brady. I love you," Hope said.
"And I love you, but apparently that's not enough for you,"
Bo said. "No. No it's not," Hope countered sadly. Upset, Bo stormed up the stairs and Hope grabbed her jacket, knocking over a picture frame with a family photo in it. As Hope slowly exited the house with the shattered frame in her hands, Bo ran down the stairs to stop her, but he reached the door as it slammed shut.
