Everyone Makes Mistakes: 9

Nik dropped the letter from Coral back onto his desk. He was stunned. He had tried to make it clear that he didn't want anything more to do with her, but this girl was just not going to give up. And Nik blamed himself. It was his fault for getting involved with her in the first place. He started it, and he would put a stop to it. He just hoped he could talk some sense into Coral before something more happened that would hurt Gia. After regaining composure, he lifted the letter from his desk and ripped it into the smallest pieces his trembling hands could manage. He took several deep breaths and shook his hands at his sides before walking back into the front lobby of L&B. All he had to do was play it cool. Gia would never know anything was wrong and he could clear things up with Coral, once and for all.

"Nikolas, what's wrong?" Gia asked, rushing to his side and placing her hand on his forehead. She had obviously seen through his poor excuse of a cover-up. "Honey, are you sick?"

"No, no Gia I'm fine." Nik shook his head, taking Gia's hand away from his forehead and kissing her knuckles gently. "I just really want to get home."

"Alright." Gia agreed, grabbing her coat and purse from a nearby chair on which she had strewn them when they first entered L&B. She threw on her coat, and tossed her back on her shoulder. "Let's go."

~*~Somewhere In Russia~*~

"Will you please come out?" Liz pleaded, her face red and blotchy from the uncontrollable crying she had been doing in the last hour. She was looking around the room frantically, trying to find where her kidnapper was, or at least where the speaker was his voice was coming from.

"I'm sorry, but I can't reveal myself to you yet." the man replied. "You'll just have to wait. But until then, let's listen to something I put together for you."

Liz's head snapped around as she heard the man's voice coming from every corner of the room. Then she heard Lucky's voice coming through the speakers, and she recognized it as the conversation she and him had had earlier before she was grabbed.

""What do you want Elizabeth?!"

"I want you, Lucky. Jason means nothing to me, I swear!"

"I'm sorry, but I....no wait, I'm *not* sorry. You hurt me Liz, you hurt me so badly, and I did nothing but love you!Listen to me Elizabeth, I want nothing to do with you. You hear me? *Nothing* I don't ever want to hear or see from you again!"

Liz's entire body shook as she relived the heart-wrenching moment, when the man she loved banned her from his life forever.

"Oh, what's the matter Lizzie?" her kidnapper taunted her, "Bad memory?"

"DAMN YOU!!!!" Liz screamed, anger, fear, and devastation scorching through every bone in her body. "Damn you...." she broke into another fit of sobs, this time, falling to the ground, and landing with a cry of pain.

~*~The Cottage~*~

The whole ride home, Gia and Nik were mustering up all their strength just to keep their hands off each other. Gia had nibbled on his ear a few times, on the ride back, only causing him to swerve wildly across the road. But now, in the comfort of their home, they had the luxury of doing whatever their hearts desired.

"Nikolas?" Gia whispered.

"Yes Gia." Nik said at a normal volume, standing up straight as if being commanded.

"I have an idea....something different..." Gia said, with a devilish smile stretching from ear to ear. "How about you get some whipped cream, and I'll meet you upstairs."

"Alright." Nik agreed, going to the kitchen only after giving Gia a warm, deep kiss.

Gia ran up the stairs and slowly opened the door to her and Nik's bedroom. What was awaiting her was definitely unexpected.

Down in the kitchen Nik heard Gia scream and rushed up the stairs in a heartbeat.

"Gia, what's wrong?" Nik asked, panting from his sprint up the wooden stairs. Gia was simply glaring in their bedroom. Nik followed her stare and came to rest on Coral. She was sitting on their bed. Red rose petals spread all around, burning candles, and Coral was wearing, wait, she wasn't wearing a black nightie. That had already been discarded and it was sitting on the floor. All that was covering Coral was a blanket, and a few stray rose petals.

"Coral?!"  Nik said.

"Surprise." Coral replied, a sly grin on her face, as she relished in the moment, "I told you to be waiting for me."

"Coral?!" Nik yelled.

"Oh, I see." Gia said, turning to Nik. "You had a meeting tonight didn't you?"

"No Gia, it's not like that. I don't know what she's d--"

"You know what Nikolas? I don't even care anymore. It took all of the power I could conjure up to forgive you the first time, but a second time...A SECOND TIME!!! I just can't get past this one." Gia screamed, looking from Nik to Coral, and back to Nik again. She shook her head with disbelief. "God, I can't believe I was so STUPID!!! Goodbye Nikolas Cassadine, have a nice life!!"

With that, Gia stormed out of the cottage, slamming the door so violently that a glass statue fell off the fireplace mantle, shattering into thousands of shards of glass.

"God dammit, Coral, what the hell are you doing here?!" Nik bellowed, trying to sound intimidating, but Coral didn't budge.

"I told you to be waiting for me." Coral said softly, a seductive smile appearing on her devious face. "Didn't you get my letter?"

"Yes, yes I did." Nik said, his face redding with anger. "And I told you that it was over...over!! Do you know what over means, or do you need me to get you a dictionary?!"

"I know what over means Nikolas." Coral said, "But I don't think you do. I think the word you're looking for is not "over", but "secret"."

"Excuse me?" Nik said, emotions rushing through him like a tidal wave.

"Secret. Are you sure YOU don't need a dictionary?" she asked him, sarcasm lurking in her voice.

"I know what it means Coral." Nik said, his eyebrows slamming down at her. "I don't know what you mean."

"I mean, you don't want us to be over, you just want us to be more secret." Coral answered, slowly rising from the bed, the blanket dropping at her feet. Normally this picture would've been ideal, but Nik couldn't stop thinking about Gia, and therefore grabbed Coral's clothes from the floor and tossing them to her.

"No Coral." Nik refused angrily. "We are over. Put your clothes on and get out of my house."

Coral glared at him with half anger, half embarrassment. "Fine. I'll leave. But it's not over Nikolas. Ohh, far from it. I'm not giving up so easily. You will hear from me again."

Coral left, and Nik sighed deeply as he fell back onto his previously occupied bed. "Oh god. What am I going to do now?!"

~*~The Docks~*~

Gia sat on the bench at the docks, sobbing as the image of Coral in Nik and Gia's bed replayed in her mind. She had thought she could trust Nik. She thought he had really ended it with Coral. But that had just been another foolish mistake she had made. Poor naïve Gia, she said to herself, Always believing whatever lies people throw at you. Well that's all going to change.

"Gia?" came a voice from the far end of the harbor.

"Who's there?" Gia asked, her voice slightly shaky from crying.

Lucky walked across the docks and took a seat beside her. "Hey..." he said, placing a hand on her knee. "Gia, what's wrong, what happened?"

"Oh, Lucky, I'm sorry, I was supposed to call you for the divorce stuff." Gia slapped a hand to her forehead, "It totally slipped my mind, I was...busy." Gia's memory wandered back to a little while before, when Gia and Nik were all over each other.

"No, it's alright." Lucky said. "I'm in no hurry." Lucky knew that Gia didn't think he meant it when he said he loved her, that was because he was drunk, but he knew he couldn't mess up their friendship, so he quickly covered up with another question. "Now tell me what's wrong."

"I, Nikolas, he..." Gia's sadness was suddenly overruled by anger and the pressing need for revenge, and she knew the perfect way.

"Gia, what did he do?" Lucky asked, putting a hand on her cheek and brushing away a lone tear.

"Lucky. About the divorce..." Gia began, her heart going against every thought that was rushing through her head. She turned sideways and brushed her leg up against his knee, as she stroked his hair seductively. "Are you sure you want one?"

~*~Somewhere In Russia~*~

"Elizabeth..." his voice came flowing through the speakers. "I have a surprise for you..."

"Are you letting me go?" Liz asked, her voice indicating a twinge of hope.

"You wish, babycakes." the voice said. "I have something you might want to hear."

"What is it?" Liz asked, terrified of hearing another conversation about Lucky rejecting her from his life forever.

"Oh just listen..."

"Lucky, about the divorce. Are you sure you want one?"

"What? Gia I thought you and Nik were back together, why wouldn't you want a divorce?"

"No Lucky, Nik and I aren't together. And I don't want a divorce. I want you. What do you want?"

Liz's kidnapper's voice came flooding the room yet again. "And since you can't see Lucky's response, I'll describe it to you. He chose not to use words. Actions speak louder than words, after all. Anyways, Lucky took Gia's face in his hands and leaned her in for a soft, gentle, yet passionate and fiery kiss. Looks like you've been replaced Lizzie."

"STOP IT!!!" Liz screamed in anguish, "Please, please, stop it...."

Lucky pulled away from Gia, and looked deep in her eyes, searching for a clue to what had brought on this sudden change of mind.

"Gia, are you sure?" Lucky asked, stroking her cheek with his hand.

"Yes, I'm positive." Gia replied, nodding slowly. There was a wrenching in her heart that wouldn't go away, but she tried her best to dismiss it, determined to make Nik feel the pain he had caused her. "I don't want a divorce."

"Alright." Lucky said, "We'll stay married. Kelly's?"

"Sure." Gia agreed, she hopped up from the bench, and took Lucky's hand in hers as they walked off the docks, towards Kelly's.

~*~The Cottage~*~

Nik was lying on his bed, tears pouring down his face. After Gia had first learned about his affair with Coral, there was a 99% chance that Gia wouldn't forgive him, but he had gotten that 1%, and they were doing great. But he knew there was no way he could get Gia to forgive him this time.

"Damn Coral!" Nik yelled. "Damn her."

Just as Nik was about to throw his alarm clock across the room, the phone rang, saving the clock's life.

"Hello." Nik answered. "Elizabeth? What, where are you? Why are you there? Oh my god, okay fine. I'll be there as soon as I can."

Nik's eyebrows scrunched into a line of confusion as he recalled his conversation. "Why is she in Fiji?"

~*~Kelly's~*~

Lucky shut his bedroom door behind them as him and Gia walked into the room. Just as he sat down beside Gia on his bed the phone rang.

"Hello" Lucky answered. "Elizabeth, what do you want? You're where? Why? God, Liz. Fine. Bye."

"What did she want?" Gia asked, sitting up from the bed and placing a hand on Lucky's shoulder.

"She's...she's gone crazy that's for sure...but she's in Alaska. She told me that she was in trouble and she needed me to come get her."

"Are you going?" Gia asked, a small pout playing across her face.

"I...no...I'll send Nikolas."

The sound of Nik's name send a pang of guilt shooting through her, which was clearly visible to Lucky.

"Gia, what's wrong? Tell me what he did." Lucky begged.

"He...Coral...."

"Again?!"

"Yes. Nik and I were fine, we were back on track, and then we went back to the cottage. And when I went into our bedroom, Coral was there, in our bed...naked."

"Oh..."

"But yes Lucky, that's a great idea." Gia agreed. "Send Nik to get Liz, I need him as far away as possible."

~*~Somewhere In Russia~*~

"Elizabeth, I just made a few phone calls."

"Did you call Lucky?" Liz asked.

"Yes, and I called Nik too. They both think they're coming to get you."

"They would never believe it was me." Liz snapped. "In case you haven't noticed, you're a MAN!!!"

"HAHA, you think you're so funny don't you? Well it's called hiring someone who sounds like you to do the job, smart ass!"

Liz sobbed, "God, what did you tell them?"

"Well, I told Nik you were in Fiji, and I told your ex-lover boy you were in Alaska."

"Where...where am I?"

"My dear, you are in Russia."

Liz screamed at the speakers. "God, show yourself, you coward!!!!!!!!"

"Not yet, sweetheart. But soon enough, soon enough."
