Marie LeGrand Crowell
April 6, 1922 to January 8, 2003

My mother dreamed of travelling and it was a dream come true when she set out on a 5 month excursion through Europe. She loved Paris, visited The Gypsy Caves in Granada, ignored a worsening heart condition in Madrid and let us know Nice was nice when she went to Italy. She travelled alone, taking her time, ignoring Italian men, who were always looking but never at her face.
She saw Homer's wine coloured sea and delighted in the Greek music and the islands. As she told me in her waining years, she had lived her dream!

She grew old, but never lost her love of travel, this picture was taken the last time she visited me, on a three day cruise from San Diego up to Victoria, BC.
Now she has gone travelling through the realms of light and though her laughing spirit is still with me, I miss her.

What can I say about the one who gave me birth?
You nurtured my mind, but even more my heart.
You taught me to love poetry and sunsets
You planted 6 varieties of redwood trees in our backyard
After Govenor Reagan said "If you see one
Redwood you've seen them all!"
You loved fresh cut flowers, but never grew any
Your one wish was to love everyone
And yes, dear heart, you did, you did!

I will remember you through your favourite Baha'i prayer.
The one you called my "Mental Health Prayer
