January 31, 1912 to May 31, 1984

It has been many, many years since my father took my hand and showed me the night sky.He identified many of the constellations and left me with an abiding love of all things astronomical. He was a good looking man, a veteran, a private contractor, carpender and a vice president of Bank of America. But most of all he was my father, a person I adored!

He got into trouble as a motherless adolescent and was sent to a military boarding school , to straighten him out. This is him at 17.

At the start of WW2 he joined the marines and was one of those, who though wounded, survived the terrible battle of Iwo Jima. He told me about a year before his death, that he felt he had gained an extra 40 years of life. I'm glad he did!
