Held an hour north of Seattle at Stanwood, the fair is an old-fashioned country event spread out over a hundred acres or so of farmland.
While it's bigger than most county fairs, The Stanwood Fair is a community fair, featuring 4-H-ers, cook offs, arcade and carnival fare. There's hardly a single permanent structure on the grounds though, so the exhibitors pitch camp with their livestock.
With pony rides for the kids, and entertainment featured on the main stage, it's a great place to spend an August day. Where else are you going to find JP Patches and The Marshall Tucker Band on the same bill?
