SEAHORSES and PIPEFISH

It is always amazing to find seahorses who are so well disguised in their environment.

On my April 2012 trip, I was ecstatic to photograph Pygmy Seahorses (Hippocampus bargibanti) on two separate occasions, the second time of course the coral fan remained "blooming" as I was the only person photographing them.

Other seahorses and pipefish were found on most dives too, however not all were good models and it was difficult at times to achieve that ideal photograph.

PIPEFISH

Specifically Ghost Pipe Fish (Solenostomidae sp.) were a pleasure to photograph having only seen them previously at Sipadan / Mabul, and Leon found an Ornate Ghost Pipefish on the Sabang Wreck site hiding in a feather star - Always worth checking these critters out for other things living in them.

We also found mushroom coral pipefish on a couple of occasions but these were too difficult to photograph as they move around too much.
