JAG's Purpose/Authority & Standard Operating Procedure
JAG Procedures (Published) The Judge Advocate General consists of 5/6 officers, each of these five are fully capable of serving as panel members, and are versed in the policy, regulations, and rules of IDF. For smaller cases a three panel hearing will be assembled, these consist of: the Judge Advocate General, 1 Captains Representative, and 1 Non Command Representative. However, for all more elaborate situations, or any situation involving a request for the JAG to relieve a commanding officer, executive officer, fleet director or deputy fleet director- the hearing will consist of a five panel member which shall consist of the following: The Judge Advocate General, 2 Captains Representatives, and 2 Non Command Representatives. Typically the five listed below will serve as the hearing panel, UNLESS the defendant files a motion to dismiss a member for personal bias. The JAG panel must not be biased, and therefore alternate members will be appointed randomly if necessary.
