Chapter 9
Ara appeared in the Great room and collapsed to the floor just as AJ collapsed back onto his bed.The man stood trembling,his eyes darting all over the room.Nick and Brian appeared seconds later,also collapsing to the floor.Matt,sensing the danger and mixed emotions,warned the Elders to get to the Great room and AJs room as soon as possible.
"Not again."Jeff fumed.
Tamika ran over to the shocked man.
"Get him to another room for now."Jeff told her.
Four beds were aligned on the side of the wall,each member of color placed on the beds.
Ara awoke six days later,her head pounding,and her heart heavy with sadness.
"I'm worried about her Nick."Brians voice said softly.
"Why?"
"You feel her more than I do,you should know why.It's like that Kalzer permanently embedded depression into her or something."
Nick had tried to warn Brian to stop talking,sensing that Ara was awake,but it came to no prevail.With the mention of the man that did this to Ara,her body froze up.
"Nick."Her voice came out cracked and low.
"Yeah?"
"Wheres Robert?"
"Um..I think he's asleep.It's like..the middle of the night."
Fear and panic arose in Ara.
"Wow..what's wrong?"Nick asked.
Ara mustered up her strength and showed Nick the image of Robert shooting a purple cloud at her from his palm.
"Shit."Nick muttered,closing his eyes to contact Jeff.
Ara stayed inside her mind,slowly rebuilding her walls.She didn't know how much more she could take of this.Her power of color was gone.She couldn't understand why.She would have to go back into the old testaments and find something.Something that could help her.Her mind was flooded with a purple mist and she couldn't seem to get rid of it.She didn't know how long she had been inside her mind but she ended up giving in to the tiredness of her body at some point.
Nick looked over at Ara.It had been 11 hours after she had told him,and just 5 minutes ago she had started breathing more deeply,signifying her slumber.Her face was pale,her eyes clouded over,and her skin drawn and tired looking.Her aura was a dull blue,and the blackness in it had turned to gray.In the greenish part of her eyes there was a slight sparkle of purple.Nick didn't know where she had gotten that color from.Nick soon gave into sleep also.
Ara awoke and before she even opened her eyes,she went back into her mind,sensing activity in her memory department.Nick stood there building up a wall around her memory.
'What are you doing?'Ara asked him.
'Just helping the process.'
'I already built a wall there.'
'Not against the Kalzers.When you first built your wall..right after your first encounter with Kevi-that Kalzer,you only build a wall surrounding your mind.You should have built a wall surrounding other things also,making it even harder for them.'
'I'm guessing you did this.'
'To myself?Yeah.Brian did it to.'
Ara helped him build the wall up and then started on others around her mind.
'How long have you been in here?'
'A few hours..'Was all Nick replied.
He was fast.She remembered what she had left to do after those 11 hours,and she figured it would take her another day or two.He had half of it done in a few hours.She,of course,had never read anything about healing herself quickly because of the fact that she didn't think they would go into battle anytime soon,and that it could wait.She learned her lesson.Twice.
