Over the past 4 years, Jan. 8, 1998 - Jan. 8, 2002, the Southern Women web ring has seen a lot of change and growth. The previous management team(s) worked hard and many long hours to get us to where we are today.

And where are we today you ask? As of today, Nov. 25, 2001, we have 285 members in our web ring and in the queue. We are spread out all over the South and even occupying some areas farther North, with those up North having strong ties to our beloved Southland. We are joined together from Cailfornia to Virginia Beach, from Michigan to the Florida coast. We are SAHM, grandmothers, teachers (both in-home and school based), accountants, writers, poets, medical transcribers, clinical therapists, business owners/managers, office managers, nurses, web designers, computer specialists, clerks, and a host of other professional careers.

We are, foremost, women who love the South but we are more than that. We are intelligent, strong, caring, supportive and independent when we need to be. We make decisions based on needs, we manage families and careers, we have a voice in the political arena, and we have strong religious beliefs based on our heritage and our own thoughts/feelings. We have a strong patriotic voice, supporting the country we love, and voicing our outrage at the recent events of 9-11.

We cannot know what the coming year will bring our way but we can resolve to meet each new event with a positive attitude and a renewed spirit because we are Southern and we are women. We (di and MJ) want to thank each of you who have an active role in our web ring at present, as well as those who brought us to where we are today. We hope to see more involvement and more Southern Women "presence" on the web in this and the coming years. We would encourage each of us to get to know our Southern sisters. You won't find a better support system anywhere in this world.

As for us, we resolve to be all that we think the management of this web ring should be; available as much as possible, understanding, supportive, upfront with new ideas and activities as often as possible and ever promoting, in a positive light, the Southern Women WebRing. When we feel we can no longer do this, we will pass the web ring into more capable hands, hands that will carry on the purpose and the tradition of the Southern Women.

With Thanks and Love to each of you,
MJ and -di
