This is my tribute to a wonderful group of exceptionally talented, understanding and empathic women. I happened to stumble upon this group several years ago while surfing the net. I had never joined a web ring, other than the one where my web page was located at the time, crosswinds. I followed a link and found myself interested and maybe even totally immersed in what I was seeing, so I thought why not? I'm a southern woman and I think I'd like to be a part of this group. Since joining the Southern Women web ring, I have met a fascinating group of ladies. Ladies who care about each other, who see a need and respond. Ladies who aren't afraid to be themselves and to share that which they have, heart and soul. I have seen these women laugh together, cry together, and the support they offer so freely is astonishing at times. I know of no family who could be closer or more understanding than this group of Southern Women.

When I first heard this song, I thought of how appropriate it was for the Southern Women Web Group. Ladies from every background, every walk of life, from stay at home moms and grandmoms, women who have careers outside the home, and those who have raised their families and are now enjoying their grandchildren. Women all over the south and some who have been displaced up north, who obviously care about each other, their families, their friends, their neighbors, and their world. Each carrying their own "special light", passing it on as often as a little love, support, understanding or even a smile is needed.

This is my tribute to each of them, my gift and my way of saying "Thank you" for being the type of people who genuinely "care" and aren't afraid to share themselves, to open their heart and let someone who has a need see inside. Women who are caring and who can be strong when they need to be. Women who welcome each new member as they would welcome home a sister. "Thank you ladies, I am proud to be a part of the Southern Women Web Ring"

"Go Light Your World"

There is a candle in every soul
Some brightly burning,
Some dark and cold.

There is a Spirit who brings a fire.
Ignites a candle and makes his home.

Carry your candle, run to the darkness.
Seek out the hopeless, confused, and torn.
Hold out your candle for all to see it.

Take your candle and go light your world.
Take your candle and go light your world.

Frustrated brother, see how he's tried to
Light his own candle some other way.
See now your sister, she's been robbed and lied to
Still holds a candle without a flame.

Carry your candle, run to the darkness.
Seek out the lonely, the tired, and worn.
Hold out you candle for all to see it.
Take your candle and go light your world.
Take your candle and go light your world.

We are a family whose hearts are blazing.
So let's raise our candles and light up the sky.
Praying to our Father, in the name of Jesus.
Make us a beacon in darkest times.
Carry your candle, run to the darkness.
Seek out the helpless, deceived, and poor.
Hold out your candle for all to see it.

Take your candle and go light your world.

Carry your candle, run to the darkness.
Seek out the hopeless, confused, and torn.
Hold out your candle for all to see it.
Take your candle and go light your world.
Let's take our candles, and go light the world.

The wonderful thing about "sharing" your light, about passing it on, is that it doesn't diminish your flame. As you pass on your "inner" flame, your own light, the thing that makes you "you", that makes you special and unique, burns brighter and warmer. So pass on whatever "inner light" you have to share. The whole world will be better for it.
