Leo's Career Summary!!
This is Leo's Career In a Brief Summary.
At the age of 12 Leo got an agent after his stepbrother started acting
in commercials.
Next Leo went into commercials himself, starring in many at 14 for toys,
cereal, bubble-gum, etc.
Then Leo landed some educational films such as Mickey's Safety Club
and How To Deal With A Parent Who Takes Drugs.
Next he was in a few T.V. shows such as The Outsiders, Santa Barbara, and
Parenthood.
Later he got a part in the film Critters 3, which unfortunatly turned
out to be a flop.
He then went on to co-star in the T.V. series Growing Pains for one
season before the show was cancelled. He played a 15-year-old homeless boy
named Luke.
Next he gave up T.V. shows and went on to movies, landing a role in 1991's
Poison Ivy where he only had a few lines.
Then he got his first starring role in 1993's This Boy's Life opposite
Robert DeNiro and Ellen Barkin. He played a tormented teen named Tobias Wolff
who gets mistreated by his step-father.
When he was 19 he played the part of a mentally handicapped boy named Arnie
Grape in 1993's What's Eating Gilbert Grape with Johnny Depp.
Then he went on to play in 1994's The Foot Shooting Party.
Leo then wanted the part of the boy reporter in Interview With A Vampire,
but he was denied it because he looked too young. The part was given to
River Phoenix who later died, so the part went to Christian Slater.
Next for Leo was the 1995 film The Quick And The Dead with Sharon
Stone in which he played Kid, the son of Gene Hackman.
After that Leo went on to play the heroin-addicted poet and high school
athlete Jim Carroll in 1995's The Basketball Diaries.
The next stop was the part of the poet Arthur Rimbaud in 1996's Total
Eclipse.
He then skipped the part of Robin in Batman and Robin to get suicidal
in 1996's William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet. At first he had no
interest in doing the classic tale of a bunch of people in tights talking a
language only understood in the 1600's that had no modern-day feelings, but
later took the part when Baz Luhrman finally got through that it was more
modernized and did have modern day feelings. He took the part of Romeo with
Claire Danes (Juliet), John Leguizamo, and Paul Sorvino as his co-stars.
Then was 1996's Marvin's Room, where he again met up with Robert
DeNiro (director) when he played Meryl Streep's rebellious son, Hank.
Next came the $250 Million Dollar film Titanic directed by James Cameron
in which he played the part of Jack Dawson, a poor artist who wins a
steerage ticket in a poker game and falls in love with an upper-class girl,
Rose DeWitt Bukater played by Kate Winslet. He originally wanted Cameron
to beef up the character, but eventually took the part as it was.
Then came The Man In The Iron Mask, in which he played a double role,
as King Louis IV and Prince Phillipe, opposite John Malkovich, Gerard
Depardieu, Gabriel Byrne, and Jeremy Irons.
He then had a small cameo role in Woody Allen's Celebrity. The black and white
movie was not a big hit at the box office.
Next he will be apperaing in Slay The Dreamer, The Inside Man, and Bombshell.
