For An Angel, I Found
There are not any wings on his shoulders
But when he stood near me I heard the soft, hot rustle of feathers
felt the sharp snap of wind when he moved his shoulders
I never stood under any light from his halo
But in the blue times, he could shed light on my darkest day
His footprints never left golden treads on the floor
Just mud and leaves like everyone else
His words changed never a raindrop, nor silenced the icy north wind
But his laughter made me a lover, and his voice called me a friend
His smile opened not a pearly gate
but it turned on a light behind my eyes that had been forgotten in the gloom
for an angel, i found needs not exaltation but peace
and a quiet heart to give him room.
*Thank you, Michael. For everything you have been, will be, and deserve to be. You have my love and friendship always.*
