Portland
Congregational Church is on the shores of Lake Erie in
Chautauqua County which is the Western most County in
New York State.
Our church is located just off of Route 20 in the Town
of Portland which is between Westfield and Fredonia. Route
20 runs parallel to the New York State Thruway which runs
along the lake shore.
If you are coming from the South, West or Pennsylvania
take I 90 to the New York State Thruway East. Be prepared
to pay tolls. Take the Thruway to Exit 60 - Westfield.
After Exiting the toll booths turn left and drive South
to Route 20 approximately 2 miles. There is a traffic
light at that intersection. Follow Route 20 approximately
8 miles into Portland. You will come to a change of speed
zone to 40 mph. From that point you would take the second
road to the right which is Church Street. Travel one block.
The church is on the right.
If you are coming from the North or Buffalo take the New
York State Thruway West. Exit the Thruway at Exit 59 -
Fredonia. Turn left onto Route 60. Travel South on Route
60 to Route 20. Turn Right onto Route 20 and follow Route
20 about 9 miles. You will come to the Village of Brocton
as you follow Route 20 which is in the center of the Town
of Portland. There are arches with a traffic signal in
the center of Brocton on Route 20. Continue on Route 20
traveling West. You will change from a 35 mph speed zone
to a 40 mph speed zone. Once you change to the 40 mph
zone count on the left side of the road the streets. Church
Street is the third street on the left. Turn left onto
Church Street. Travel one block. The church is on the
right.
If you are coming from the Southern-Tier Expressway (Route
17) Jamestown or East of Portland take Exit 12 from the
Expressway. Merge onto Route 60 North. Follow Route 60
to Fredonia approximately 24 miles. At the intersection
of Route 60 and Route 20 turn left and follow Route 20
to the center of Brocton approximately 9 miles. Continue
on Route 20 traveling West. You will change from a 35
mph speed zone to a 40 mph speed zone. Once you change
to the 40 mph zone count on the left side of the road
the streets. Church Street is the third street on the
left. Turn left onto Church Street. Travel one block.

the expressway at the Route 430, Bemis Point - Ellery
Exit. Follow Route 430 South to the center of Mayville
approximately 10 miles. Route 430 crosses Route 394 in
the center of Mayville. Turn right onto Route 394 and
follow it about 10 miles to Westfield to where it intersects
with Route 20. Turn left onto Route 20. There is a traffic
light at that intersection. Follow Route 20 approximately
8 miles into Portland. You will come to a change of speed
zone to 40 mph. From that point you would take the second
road to the right which is Church Street. Travel one block.
The church is on the right.
