report:

Despite another brave performance by the 4th team in Leeds the mighty 4th team are yet to pick up any points in BUSA so far this season.

Starting the game with the captain Scrumpy in goal with just a helmet to protect his life the 4's started remarkably strongly and kept Leeds out with relative ease. You could sense the panic from Leeds as they realised it is actually tough scoring against a team without a goalie. Once Bunker finally turned up to play a bit of normality returned to the 4s and they started to play some pretty good hockey. With Shergar dominating the midfield as he always does and Duvet making some key tackles on his 4th team season debut the 4s were unlucky to go a goal down.

Leeds, scoring one of the flukiest short corners in history as the attacker topped the ball, which then hit the post and bounced in off the keeper, were very relieved to go one up. It was soon two as Leeds hit on the break again and slack marking at the back led to an easy tap in for a striker.

The 4s weren't done yet and went into the half time break two down but still confident they could bring it back. The 4s pushed on but were unfortunately 3-0 down as Leeds again struck. But then, when the team needed him most, mohawk got his thunderhammer out and unleashed some fury from a short corner. With a slick delivery from Lepracy, superb control from Shergar it was tee-ed up on a plate for Mohawk. His shot was inch perfect and beautifully found the stick of a Leeds player who politely deflected it past the scrambling goalkeeper.

With the game now 3-1 and in the balance the 4s pushed on but were unfortunately hit on the break again. Bunker made a great first up save but the Leeds striker just beat Scrumpy to the ball and lifted the ball over the gutted Bunker.

The 4s weren't done yet however. Snake, playing well up front, making some great runs but lacking the final touch deserved a goal and he duly got this as Shergar fired a free hit in for Snake to score a "classic" strikers goal and deflected the ball in. With time running out the 4s pushed still further and were denied a goal with the last touch of the game, however the umpire blew just before the ball crossed the line denying Snake a deserved second.

The 4s worked well away from home and again showed they can fight in this division, but just need a bit of luck to go the way. Bring on Durham 4s next week.

report:

A rainswept day down in miserable hallam territory left the mighty sheffield 4th team with there 2nd loss in as many weeks. Despite a very strong start from everybody's favourite team the boys in yellow knew they were in for a tough battle. With about ten minutes gone Rocky thought he'd changed sports and attempted an amazing rugby tackle on a hallam forward who was almost clean through on goal. The umpire could only make one decision and Rocky took five behind the goal to think about what he'd done.

With the 4's down to 10 men, hallam pressed and unfortunately went one up. Wtih the umpire missing a beautiful foot pass in the D, which David Beckham would be proud of, the ball spurted free for a hallam loser to put in the back of the net.

However the 4's weren't done and showed incredible heart to comeback. With Rocky back on the pitch after his rest, the 4's pushed and pushed. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, Shergar fired a Mohawk-esque free hit across the D towards the back post, and there was Indiana waiting patiently to tap the ball in from a good 3 inches. The crowd went silent as cheers went up from the 4th team. The 4's now continued to dominate the 1st half with Hillbillie making some inspiring runs but just failing to capitalise on his chances. Despite all these efforts the score was 1-1 at half time with the 4s confident.

After the break the 4s were immediately under the cosh. The "neutral" umpire seemingly only being able to point one way despite some resolute defence from the mighty jules and mohawk, would not let the A-level candidates out of the own half. But despite the constant pressure the 4s held strong and kept hallam out. Shergar dominating the midfield as always and soon found ways out for the 4s who were looking for that elusive 2nd goal. It didn't come however and hallam pushed and sneaked three late goals to earn them a 4-1 victory.

Despite this loss the 4s remain confident and look forward to another away trip next week to sunny leeds.

4th XI cruelly lose at the last

A wonderfully entertaining game thrilled thousands of fans at fortress Goodwin as the mighty sheffield 4th XI and the 3rd team got the BUSA campaign up and running. With the sun shining and pitch playing well it was all set up for a great game of hockey. With the 4th team playing some virtuoso sexy hockey straight from the whistle the 3rd team knew they were in for a tough game. Incisive runs from shergar and pillage terrified the 3's as they were soon on the back foot.

Once the 3's got the ball to the big men up front they always looked like they could create problems. Julian with another rock solid, tuck in 3's game at the back however kept them at bay despite a hamstring strain. It looked like the physio had done a good job before the game and Julians "no sex on a tuesday night" policy was clearly benifiting the team.

With ten minutes to go in the first half the 4th team suddenly struck, from nowhere, to send the 3rd team reeling into the half time break 2-0 down. Castro answering the captains call for a goal, didn't dissapoint and as ever was menacing up front, finished superbly to put the away side in the lead. This was quickly followed by Lepracy on debut firing in the second. The 3rd team looked stunned and gagging for the half time break.

After a firm talking to from the captain the 3rd team came out all guns blazing after the break with a audacious 3-4-3 formation. With the skipper off nursing a possible broken finger the 4's failed to control at the back and the 3rd team drew level with two well worked goals.

However the 4's kept on plugging away and still created chances. Mohawk had a goal rightly disallowed off a short corner for the ball being too high and lepracy was creating havoc up front. The 3's however had the last laugh scoring a short corner with seconds left giving them a 3-2 victory. The 4th team were distraught as the 3's celebrated a lucky escape, however the performance shows plenty of potential for the upcoming season.

A mesmeric performance from Shergar got him the man of the match award after controlling the centre of the park. Dick of day was a close run thing with many votes for the captain Scrumpy after subbing himself off at half time, but the award eventually went to Snake on debut, the midlands premier wannabe failing to convert his words into actions.
