Chapter Thirty-One
It's Your Turn

Laura was still sitting in the chair in the middle of the room that she was stuck
in. She hated being there, knowing she couldn’t help her friends out at all.
Laura’s eyes roamed the room, searching for anything that might help her find a
way out of there. Only the blank walls stared back at her.
“Well, this is just so much fun,” she commented sarcastically to herself.
Just then, Laura noticed that there was one detail Ms. Calhoun had forgotten to
erase from the room. The holes toward the bottom of the wall that the blood
and insects had come out of were still there.
“I wonder....” she thought.
Laura got up off the chair and walked over to the one opening. A metal mesh
covering was placed over and Laura was able to yank it off with some effort. She
set the covering down and bent over to look in. The hole went straight back and
was big enough to fit a person into. She was in luck.
Laura glanced around the room nervously for a second before deciding to
escape. She didn’t want to know where she would end up though. Laura began
crawling into the hole. Metal lined the entire thing and it was extremely dark and
she had no idea where her hand would land next.
Laura thought it felt like she had been crawling on her hands and knees for
hours. She was tired and was beginning to become scared of where she would
end up. Suddenly, her head smacked into something hard.
“Aww..fuck! What was that?”
Laura put her hand up and it felt like an iron rod. Laura stood up slowly and
realized there was no ceiling there now.
“I wonder if these are stairs....”
Laura finally figured out they were stairs and slowly started to climb upwards.
The metal was extremely cold to her hands and she was tired from how much
climbing she was doing.
Finally her head smacked yet again into something hard. This time it was a
wooden plank. Laura felt for a handle but there was none so she began banging
on it and yelling for help.
.......................
“What the fuck is all that noise and where is it coming from?” Justin said,
sounding annoyed.
“What are you...” Teri started.
Just then, they all heard it, the sound of someone banging on something and
yelling for help. They listened intently, trying to decipher what it was. Finally
they figured out it wasn’t anything related to the house.
Lance suddenly came to a realization. “Is that Laura?”
“You’re right! It is her,” Emily spoke up.
“Hey Laura, we can here you, keep yelling and we’ll try to find you,” Kevin yelled
out.
They began searching frantically for her. Joey finally went over to the stairs and
looked at them, figuring the pounding was coming from there. Leaning down he
yelled, “Laura is that you?”
There was a pause before Laura’s muffled reply came back. “Yeah, it’s me. Can
you get me out of here?”
“Hang on,” Joey yelled back. “You guys, she’s over here!” he yelled to everyone
else.
The others rushed over and Joey pointed to the second step. “She’s under
there.”
JC knelt down and studied the step. “Hey, there’s a crack here and a wooden
handle. Somebody help me lift this up.”
Howie helped JC and together they finally managed to lift the wooden plank up.
JC set the plank down while Howie reached in and pulled a very tired looking
Laura out.
“Oh my God, I’m so glad to see you!” Teri cried out, rushing over to her friend
and giving her a hug.
“Yeah, I’m glad I’m in one piece,” Laura nodded and turned to the others.
“Thanks you guys, for finding me.”
“No problem,” Nick said with a small smile.
Laura then remembered she had something important to tell the others. “Oh my
God, I have to tell you guys something, I defeated ‘The Game’!”
“What?! How?!” Brian exclaimed.
“Well...” Laura began but was abruptly cut off.
“Well well well. I guess you are smarter than I thought. You actually got out of
that room,” a voice said behind them.
They all turned around to see Ms. Calhoun standing there with a smirk on her
face.
“What do you want?” Chris said angrily.
“Oh, nothing. Just seeing how all of you are getting along. You are my guests
after all,” Ms. Calhoun said sweetly, though an evil gleam hung in her eyes.
“We’re just peachy,” Justin muttered and Teri kicked him to shut him up.
Ms. Calhoun’s eyes narrowed as she studied them. She had never thought she
would have such hard players in ‘The Game.’ These were the first people to put
her really to the test and it scared her actually, though she didn’t let them know
it.
“Well, I better leave you all alone now so you can have some more fun,” she
started to turn away from them.
“Oh!” Ms. Calhoun said suddenly, spinning around, “it’s your turn now.” She
pointed her finger at JC and then disappeared.
“Holy shit, where’d she go?” Nick said in amazement.
Before the others could respond they suddenly heard Lance stutter out,
“W..where’d...JC...g..go. He was here a s..second ago.”
The others turned to the spot where JC had just been standing. Ms. Calhoun was
right it was JC’s turn now.
