Dangerous Waters

The lights flicked on and Howie was shocked to find himself in a totally blank room. No sign of shattered glass, broken doors, or bloody figures was anywhere. He slowly stood up, extremely confused.

“I thought the whole point of ‘The Game’ is that they wanted to kill us....” Howie wondered aloud.

That’s when he got the strange feeling that he was being watched. He turned around but no one was there. Only writing written on the wall in blood. It said, “Don’t worry, we’ll get you soon.”

The saying freaked Howie out and he quickly ran to the only door in the room. Luckily, it was unlocked and he took off down the hall. “There’s too many damn halls in this place,” he muttered.

Howie then heard a noise and stopped and listened carefully, ready to run again at any moment. The noise wasn’t anything to fear though, it was the sound of water hitting a wall.

“Water? Where the hell would water be in this place?” Howie questioned himself.

Howie was unsure but decided to find where it was. He slowly started to walk towards where he thought the noise of the water was coming from. Eventually he came to the end of the hall and it opened up into a wide room. Only a little walking room was in front of him before a considerable drop was noticed. Howie looked over the edge and saw, about halfway up, a bunch of dark looking water. Howie shivered from how menacing water could look.

The room was incredibly strange looking and looked like it didn’t belong in the place but then again, nothing belonged in the place.

A walkway was around the entire hole containing the water. Torches hung on the walls, glimmering off of the water.

“There’s nothing to stay around here for,” Howie said, “that water is eerie looking anyway.”

Howie began to turn around when he noticed something about the water and looked a little closer. Something big and black was in the water. It came to the surface for a second before disappearing again underneath.

“Uhh...now I’m really out of here.”

Again, Howie was stopped from going, this time by another noise, like people yelling. He stared around the room and that’s when he saw two people falling from up above and he just realized there was no ceiling to the place.

To Howie’s horror, the two fell right into the water. They quickly surfaced and Howie ran to the edge.

“Joey...Chris....is that you?” Howie yelled down.

“Howie?” Chris yelled back.

“Yeah, it’s me. Boy, I’m glad to see you guys.”

“We’re are too,” Joey responded.

Howie’s eyes darted around the water, hoping that thing wouldn’t come back and grab either of them.

“Look, you guys gotta get out of the water,” Howie told them.

“Yeah, we were thinking the same thing, this was is so damn cold,” Chris replied.

All three of them looked around for a way to get up but their was none. Chris and Joey’s teeth were chattering by now and Howie kept praying that thing wouldn’t show up.

“This is great, are we gonna be stuck here now?” Joey said.

“Can you try climbing up?” Howie suggested.

“I guess we could,” Chris said, staring at the wall unsurely.

Chris and Joey started to slowly climb up the wall and were halfway between the water and the top when a rumbling noise went through the room. They both paused.

“What was that?” Joey asked.

Just then the wall they were on gave a jolt and they almost fell off. Howie’s mouth dropped open with horror, the walls were starting to come together and would certainly crush both Chris and Joey if they didn’t climb up faster.

“Guys, go faster, come on,” Howie yelled at them.

They quickly started to go up but it wasn’t fast enough, the walls were closing in to much on them. It was no more then 10 feet away from them now. Joey slipped a little and almost fell in the water but Chris grabbed him. Howie stretched his hand out, desperately trying to get them.

Chris scurried up and Howie grabbed him and pulled him over. The wall was now about 5 feet away.

“Come on Joey,” Howie encouraged, “just a little more.”

Joey finally lunged for the top and went over the top just in time and the walls slammed together with a great bang. The room shook violently for a minute.

Chris and Joey stood there for a second, dripping wet, breathing hard, and thinking that they had almost been crushed to death.

“Come on, lets’ get out of here,” Howie said.

Just then, as if things weren’t bad enough, the rumbling noise started up again and the whole room shook. The three almost fell over from it. They began to notice blood was rapidly pouring down the walls and filling up the room. The room was beginning to cave in and the desperately ran for the only way out. Rock was falling all around them and they dodged them constantly.

They made it out only just before a huge rock fell down and partially blocked the opening. The rumbling ceased slightly and as Howie, Chris, and Joey were running down the hall they heard a voice behind them saying, “You will never escape.”
