Chapter Fifteen
Predictions

Laura and Emily had gotten to the third floor and were checking around to see if Nick was anywhere up there. They hadn’t had any luck so far but didn’t want to give up.

Just then, Emily saw a door leading to one of the hallways probably. “Hey Laura, why don’t we check out what’s behind this door?”

“I guess,” Laura mumbled, not to keen about seeing what was behind the door. She reached out to grab the door handle and as soon as her hand touched, a funny feeling came over her and something flashed through her head. Laura snapped her hand back and stared intently at the door. “What the hell was that?” Laura thought to herself.

Emily gave Laura a weird look when she saw her react to the door. “Are you ok?” “Yeah.... I think so....” she replied.

Laura reached out again to open the door and this time when she touched it, a screaming noise filled her head and a image of someone running from something and then she saw a cloaked figure grab on to the person and kill them.

Laura stumbled back from the door and stared at it in shock. Emily was staring at her very strangely, not understanding what was going on. Laura was finally able to speak after a little bit. “Don’t...open...that door.”

“What....why? What’s wrong with opening it? It’s just a door,” Emily said, extremely confused.

“No....just don’t open the door!”

“Look, Nick might be behind that door, we gotta check it out!” And with that Emily grabbed the door handle and turned it.

“NO!!!” Laura screamed when she opened it. As soon as the door opened, a wind blew through the hall and Emily was pulled through the door and it slammed shut. A loud laugh echoed through the hall right after.

“Oh shit......oh God no....I gotta go find the others now,” Laura thought.

With that, she ran towards the stairs to find everyone else.

......................

Kevin and JC had finally gotten Nick out of the basement and to the first floor. They got into the entrance hall and laid him down on the floor. He was still unconscious and his breathing was very ragged. Both JC and Kevin were clueless to what had happened to Nick. They knew it had to do with whatever had come into the room they had all been in though.

“Damnit, this is not good. Nick needs a doctor and fast,” JC said.

“Shit.....we can’t get outta the house though. I hope Howie and Lance are having some luck with maybe finding a way out. That front door can’t be the only door that leads out of here,” Kevin replied.

Just then they both heard a laugh echo somewhere upstairs. The two of them froze and looked at each other in wide eyes.

“What.....does that mean....oh God,” JC stuttered.

“They must have gotten someone else,” Kevin hung his head.

Just then they both heard footsteps running down the stairs. They both looked up to see Laura running towards him. She stopped in front of them, gasping for air.

“They......got.....Emily,” she panted. That’s when Laura caught sight of Nick on the floor.

“Oh my God,” she said, looking between JC and Kevin, “What happened to Nick?”

“We don’t know, we found him like this in a room down in the basement,” JC explained.

Laura knelt down next to him and looked at Nick for a second before standing back up. “He really needs a doctor....damnit....I hate this place.”

“What happened to Emily?” Kevin questioned her.

Laura shook her head slowly before she explained. “It was really weird. We were on the third floor looking for Nick and we saw this closed door and I went to open it but when I touched the handle this weird image went through my head. I told Emily not to open the door but......” Laura trailed off.

“You’re telling me she got caught behind the door?” JC asked.

Laura could only nod. She could still remember that image. Had it been a prediction of something to come?

Finally Kevin spoke back up. “Come on, we gotta find everyone else before they all start to get lost.”

“What about Nick though?” Laura said, looking down at him.

“I’ll stay with him,” JC volunteered, “you two go find everyone else.”

Kevin nodded. “Come on Laura. Chris and Justin are down here. Let’s look for them first.”

Laura nodded and started to take a step forward when all of a sudden another image popped in her head. This time it was of someone falling to the ground dead. They turned into a ghost with the effects of their injuries still on them. The ghost turned around and Laura saw who it was. It was Teri and she reached out her hand and cried out, “Help me, please.”

Laura gasped and stumbled to the ground when screaming and then a loud laugh filled her head. “No please....make it stop!!!” she cried out.

Kevin and JC ran over to her. “Laura.....what’s wrong....what’s goin’ on?” Kevin yelled in her ear.

Laura snapped out of it and stared at them, breathing hard. “Oh God.....I just saw another image.....”

JC’s eyes widened. “What was it?”

“It was Teri.....she was.....dead...and turned into a....ghost......Oh God...I just saw what will happen to us if we lose the Game,” Laura said shakily, “we’ll die and turn into ghosts to haunt this place."

Both Kevin and JC fell silent, neither knowing what to say. None of them wanted that to happen but the possibilities of winning this Game were getting slimmer and slimmer.
