In the year 2012 with the fall of the Soviet Union in 1984
and the economic collapse of Europe in 2007, the USA lost its
formidable adversaries. The USA expanded its "peace keeping"
efforts slowly gaining influence over the whole world, by
putting USA friendly governments in all the countries
of the world.

In 2026 the USA expanded the power of the United Nations to
merge all the countries into one huge and powerful empire
named the United World Order.

With the population swelling at 9 billion the U.W.O. expanded
the space program to develop space colonies. It had limited
success until the discovery of fusion in 2032. Using the same
power  created by the sun,  they now had a cheap and safe power supply,
but it requires the use of these newly discovered crystals. These
crystals are the densest form of matter known to mankind, nearing
the density of the rumored "Dark Matter."  They originate on
asteroids. Some fall to earth and are scattered all over the planet
from meteor showers.

Using fusion, the U.W.O. was able to make HUGE space stations and
craft that could stay in space with no needed supplies for years at
a time. With the advent of these  spacecraft, the U.W.O. was able to travel deeper into
space with ease, resulting in  huge advances in the space program.  Now travel into space is a ordinary thing.

The U.W.O., requiring more and more people to build and maintain
their huge ships, put all  of the Central Americans into slave labor.
Also requiring more and more materials, they rationed people's
food and water, using oppression and fear to maintain control
over the disgruntled people.

There is a growing resistance movement, The Freedom
Force.  They want freedom at any cost. What they lack in
tanks and bombs, they make up for in morale and courage.
Some have the advantage of being on the inside, they work
in the factories and live in the cities. Using sabotage
they chip away at the U.W.O. Others are in the FF base camps
spread all over the world and in space, where they take the
U.W.O. head-on.
