Altering Your Text

So you want to alter to look of your text. Well it is actually very simple. Before you do this though keep in mind that the fonts you chose may not be on everybodys computer. It is important to choose fonts that are common. Ask your friends if they have the font on their computers if you aren't sure. Don't use fonts you had to download. Usually those will NOT be common and your site will look different on somebody else's computer who doesn't have that font than on yours.

The things you can do with text is simple you can make them headers, change their size, color, and the font. All of this can go into one tag which I will show you later. The following tables show examples of the different things you can do. The first tag is the opening tag and the second tag with the / is the closing tag. The text you want to show up on your website should go in between the two tags like so:
<tag> text </tag>

Styles for fonts:
Font Style Commands
Bold<B>, </B>Bolded
Italics<I>, </I>Italized
Underline<U>, </U>Underlined
Strong<strong>,</strong> Strong
Center<center>, </center>
Centered

Those are your basic font style comands.

Another commonly used way to edit how your text appears is the use of Headers. They are used to of course create headers. You don't have to use the headers to get headers to stand out but you can if you wish.

Headers
Header 1<H1>,</H1>

Example

Header 2<H2>,</H2>

Header 3<H3>,</H3>

Header 4<H4>,</H4>

Header 5<H5>,</H5>

Header 6<H6>,</H6>

There are six heading styles. You can try over 6 if you like as HTML is always updating but as of now and the knowledge I have there are only 6 that work for all computers.

Now you can also adjust the size of your font. This is where you can make it really BIGor really small.

You can do this by adding to it or subtracting to your default size or by giving it a set size.
To add or subtract from the default size you simply use <font size="+1"> Text </font> or <font size="-1"> Text </font>

To give it a set font size you will put <font size="10"> Text </font>

Go ahead and play around with both codes. See what font sizes you can do and how big or small you can make them. Play with the styles too and see how you can make text stand out differnt ways.
