LAURA HEWITT ( SECRETARY )

Hello, my name is Laura Hewitt and I am this year's Los Angeles Section Secretary. In my chapter- Canoga Park I am the swine breeding project manager. I am currently a sophomore in high school and have had many good and bad experiences. My worst experience was probably when I was doing my Creed Recitation and when I went into the room with the judges I thought they asked me to sit down. So I sat down in the chair that was in front of them, but I thought it was strange to sit down when I practiced moving around and doing hand movements. Well, as it turned out I did win first place, but after I realized what I had done I was very embarrassed. I'd have to say that my best experience, by far, was when our school's sow, Charlotte, had babies. I was right there in the action, covered in blood and umbilical chords, but I'm really looking forward to the next litter this year! As you can see, I really love pigs, but I also love dogs, dance, and drawing. Those things, plus working in the agriculture area at school with the animals and plants are my hobbies. I am also on the Ornamental Horticulture Team. When I graduate from high school I plan on going to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and majoring in General Agriculture. Then I am going to become the editor of the National FFA Magazine. Good luck to everyone and hope to see you soon!
