As they drove back to Angelica’s house Shay began thinking ‘What’s going to happen if Angelica is alone when she goes into labor? Let’s see I have 2 extra bedrooms upstairs and one can be the baby’s nursery and the other can be Ange’s room. Yeah that’s a great idea’ “Hey Ange? Are you hungry?“ Shay asked “yeah I am but I have food at home.” Angelica said. “no its ok I will get something from McDonald’s cause I’m in the mood for a Big Mac!” Shay said pulling into McDonald’s and ordering the food they took it took it to Angelica’s house. *~*~*~*~*~*~*1 Week later on Shay’s 20th Birthday*~*~*~*~*~*~* “Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Shay! Happy birthday to you!” Everyone sang to her. Angelica had conducted a surprise birthday party for Shay, she invited everyone that Shay worked with, Shay’s parents, and a few of their mutual friends. “Thank you so much, Angelica! This is great! It makes me want to do this even more!” Shay said letting her little surprise slip out after they had eaten the cake. “What do you mean? Do what even more?” Angelica asked concerned. “Oops, Ange, I didn’t want you to find out like this but what do you think about cutting your expenses in half?” Shay asked. “That would be great but I don’t know what I could cut back on.” Angelica said thoughtfully still uncertain of what Shay was asking. “Well you could move in with me for the rest of your pregnancy and for as long as you want afterwards and if you want you can find an apartment or something.” Shay said in one breath while everyone was quiet. “Shay, I would love to but I don’t want to impose. You know me, I always want what’s best for others before me.” Angelica said sadly. “chic, you wouldn’t be imposing besides I already did something. Come upstairs with me and let me show this to you.” Shay said and they went into the nursery that Shay had decorated. It was painted in baby blue with little white clouds and had pictures of little birds flying through the air. Also there was a changing table in a corner and opposite that in the other corner was the light blue crib that Shay had for Angelica and there was a little dresser for things and a bunch of diapers and other supplies for changing either near the change table or in the closet. “What about all that stuff that we got for your house AND my house? We got 2 of almost everything.” Angelica asked while looking at the cute little toys that were on a wooden toy box. “I took the extras back and got some toys. Please say you will stay here. I want you too! You have become like a sister to me.” Shay said while looking hopefully at Angelica. “When do I start moving?” Angelica said with a smile and Shay gave her a big hug. *~*~*~*~*~*~*1 month later*~*~*~*~*~*~* Angelica and Shay finally had all of Angelica’s things together and they were now finishing unloading some boxes and putting away the stuff. Slowly Angelica opened the box that had baby written on the top and looked through what was in there. She grabbed some of the clothes and neatly put them on hangers or in the dresser drawer. She smiled as she thought about the baby. A month was left and she was anxious, nervous, and scared all at once. “You thinking about home?” Shay asked while standing in the doorway and watching her friend’s expression change from glad, to scared, and then to regret. “Yeah a little. My mom and dad don’t know where I am at and they don’t even know they are going to be grandparents. Should I call them?” Angelica asked scared of what might happen. “It’s your choice. Try to put yourself in their shoes, their daughter ran away after they found out she had in fact had sexual intercourse and they don’t know that it was rape, also they have no idea where their only daughter is and to top it they don’t know if you are alive or dead and they don’t know that they have a grandchild on the way. What would you do?” Shay asked as politely as she could. “Thanks Shay, you helped me, now if you’ll excuse me I need to make a phone call.” Angelica said as she went across the hall to her room and picked up the phone. A=Angelica M=mom D=dad M: Hello? A: Hi mom? M: Angelica, baby is that you? Where have you been? Your father and I have been worried sick! Are you ok? please tell me you are ok. A: (smiled) Yes mom I’m fine I was just figuring I need to tell you that I’m ok and tell you what happened. I can’t tell you over the phone, will you and daddy come down here to Memphis? please? M: Yes, baby you know we will. Would you like to talk to your father? A: Yes, please, I miss both of you. D: Angel? Babydoll, why didn’t you call? A: Daddy, I wanted too, so many times I wanted to, but I couldn’t, I was afraid that you would be mad at me. D: We aren’t mad, just worried and I am really sorry I yelled at you after I found out you and Harold had sex. A: Daddy, I have to tell you something but I can’t tell you over the phone, just like I told momma. Will you both come down here to Memphis? D: Yes, of course Angel. A: ok....when will you come down? D: Well we can catch a plane tomorrow and set up a hotel room for 2 nights, and when we get to the hotel we will call you. Can you give me the phone number? A: Sure it’s ###-###-####. Bye Daddy and tell Momma I love her. D: Bye my Angel, love you After they hung up Angelica smiled and went and told Shay what was happening.
