Bobby's backing Woody

FORMER England boss Sir Bobby Robson believes Jonathan Woodgate's
£8million move to Newcastle has put his England career back on track.

Robson says the 23-year-old centre back is now fully recovered from
the Leeds nightmare that put his international career on hold.

And Robson insists that Woodgate is ready to challenge England's
World Cup finals centre back pairing of Sol Campbell and Rio Ferdinand

"I would have thought Jonathan Woodgate would get selected for Sven's
squad on what he achieved at Leeds United," said Robson."But he has
also enhanced his opportunity by the way he has played in his three
games here.

"Jonathan has given us an authority and assurance at the back.He is
very composed and has helped us tighten things up.

"Like Kieron Dyer there are some very good players in the England
team who play in the same position as Jonathan,

"But we have seen how good he is and I think he will do well for
England once he gets his chance."

Robson, England's most successful manager of the last 30 years is
backing England to take maximum points in their double-header against
Liechtenstein and Turkey and go on to qualify for the 2004 European
Championships
