New injury blow for Woody

TERRY Venables saw United's injury jinx continue when Jonathan
Woodgate was ruled out of action for the next few weeks after
suffering a thigh injury in training.
The news of the defender's injury is a massive blow for United, who
have benefited from the player's fine run of form, and for Woodgate
personally who could now miss out on another England cap when Sven-
Goran Eriksson names his squad to face Australia on February 12th.

That would deprive Woody of the chance to get one over Elland Road
team-mates Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka and Paul Okon.

More news of the extent of the Middlesbrough-born defender's injury
will be known later today.

Swedish international Teddy Lucic is primed to replace Woodgate, and
Venables could make positional changes with fit again skipper Dominic
Matteo reverting to centre-half and Lucic moving to left-back.
Lucas Radebe is also nearing full fitness again, and as all Leeds
fans know, would put himself through anything to help the team should
he be needed.

Danny Mills forthcoming suspension for United's FA Cup fourth round
game at Gillingham represents another problem though, and Venables
will once more have to shuffle his defence, with Gary Kelly expected
to drop back to right-back.
