Every Leeds star
for sale
LEEDS are prepared to
sell ANY of their stars during next month's
transfer window in a desperate bid to satisfy the plc.
Club bosses have been told around £15million must be raised to ease
crippling debts of close to £80m.
It means Terry Venables' struggling Leeds are ready to do the
unthinkable and sell the likes of top hitman Alan Smith - if he is
the only player to attract a decent offer. Keeper Paul Robinson is
fancied by Arsenal and Barcelona.
And Robbie Fowler, back after surgery on a hip problem, is in
Manchester United's sights.
Leeds do not want to see Lee Bowyer's situation develop into a trend
and know selling players is the viable way to ease their financial
burden.
Bowyer will walk away at the end of the season on a Bosman free - his
destination understood to be Spurs.
Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale has already gone on record as saying
more players must follow Rio Ferdinand and Robbie Keane out of the
door.
Fans are infuriated none of the £36m from those sales has gone to
boss Venables for team rebuilding. It went to pay off debts.
