Woodgate fit to
face Black Cats
Jonathan Woodgate is
fit to retain his place in the Leeds defence for
Wednesday night's Elland Road clash with Sunderland.
Woodgate, who missed the opening day win against Manchester City with
a knee injury, was back in the starting line-up at West Brom but was
substituted by Lucas Radebe on the hour mark after picking up a
booking.
Fears that the central defender may have suffered a recurrence of his
injury were dispelled after the game. As well as avoiding the risk of
a second yellow card, the decision to replace the England defender
was taken because Woodgate had not done much training, and Radebe was
the logical replacement after his impressive display against
Manchester City.
United are hoping their excellent start to the season will increase
demand for tickets for the game against Sunderland, who were beaten
at home by Everton on Saturday and have picked up just one point so
far.
Demand at the start of the week has been lukewarm for the midweek
match, but it is hoped there will be a late rush for tickets for the
clash with a Sunderland side who have yet to score a Premiership goal
this season.
