"It's over... read my lips: O-V-E-R!!!
"Wait, hon... I can explain"
"You're in my bed, with another woman, you have to have an excellent explanation for this!" "Sophie, please let me explain."I grabbed his shirt and pants and threw them in his face. "Get out," I said trying to calm down.
He obeyed my command and put his clothes on.The girl walked past me head down and walking fast.I stared at her long and hard. She left, leaving the door half open. He struggled to put his shirt on. He headed towards the door and stopped when he got there. He looked back at me.
"Please listen," he pleaded.
I grabbed a vase and threw it at him. The vase shattered into pieces as it hit next to his arm. His eyes opened in horror and he left slamming the door shut behind him.
"Try not to cry," I told myself, but it was too late the warm tears flowed from my eyes. My face was red from rage and I sat there at the bottom of the stairs crying my heart out.
Chapter One
It was two weeks later after my break up with Oscar and the memory of it still hurt me. Just thinking of it made me cry. My eyes started getting watery and the tears streamed down my face. Oscar and I had been going out for 2 and a half years, but lately we had had started to have problems.
I walked into the living room, the beeping of the answering machine annoyed me lately. Before I would have loved to hear it thinking it might be Oscar, but now it made me mad.
I pressed the "play" button so it would stop its noise.
"You have one new message: Hey Sophie, it's me Belle, hope you're feeling well. You haven't talked to me since the day it happened, and I've been kinda worried about you. Please go out with me and Alexis tonight. I promise you'll feel better after. Please just think about it and I'll go pick you up at 7:00. K? Be ready. Love ya!"
I deleted the message; I didn't feel like partying. I felt like staying home and eating ten buckets of ice-cream and watching tv. I headed back upstairs again. I looked in the mirror of my room. My reflection disgusted me. My brown hair tangled and my brown eyes red from crying. I looked away because I couldn't stand it. I threw myself onto my bed, wishing I could fall into a deep sleep and never again wake up.
*
I was awaken by someone knocking at my door. I stood up tired and went downstairs. I opened the door to find Belle standing there. She had her light brown hair down and she was nicely dressed. Unlike me, I was in sweats and a t-shirt.
"Hey, you're not ready and I warned you this time."
"I don't want to go out and party today," I said.
"I don't care I'm bringing you along no matter what you say, so you might as well cooperate."
She stepped in and pushed me upstairs. I complained but she didn't listen to me. Once we were in my room she looked into my closet and found some clothes for me to wear.
"Here, put these on, If you don't I'll kick your butt," she said laying down the clothes on the bed and laughing.
She stepped out of the room leaving me alone to dress. I dressed myself and sighed.
"I need to get over him," I said to myself. Belle knocked on the door.
"C'mon," she said impatiently.
As soon as I opened the door she pulled me out. "You can brush your hair in the car," she said.
We got out of the apartment and I made sure that I had locked the door. We walked over to her car that was parked behind mine. I got into the passanger side and she got in the driver's side.
"Where's your brush?"
"It's under your seat," she answered.
I got the brush and started brushing my hair. It was kind of tangled but it softened after a few strokes. Belle drove to Alexis' house which was accross town. She honked the horn, and Alexis came running out her brown hair flying all over her face. She signaled for us to wait as she closed the door to her house. The she came to car.
She opened the door and stepped into the back. "Hey, Sophie long time no see," she said. She smiled at me and I smiled back at her. "I'm sorry about what happened to you, but don't worry you're pretty and you'll find some hot guy out there," she said trying to comfort me. We drove to the club with the stereo on loud and all three of us singing along to "Leann Rhimes- Can't Fight the Moonlight."
We stepped out of the car, locking our doors behind us. The letters on the wall of the club read "Craze." It was a hard club to get into and it was very popular. A long line stood out waiting to get in. The man in charge stood there yelling at people to got to the back. Belle stepped up to him.
"Name?" he asked in a rough voice.
"Belle Hart."
He looked into his list for Belle's name until he found it. He opened the door for us and the closed it behind us. The club was half full. People danced on the dance floor while others stood around talking. Some sat at their tables having drinks and enjoying the music.
"Let's sit over here,"Alexis suggested.
We headed towards an empty table, and sat down. Belle said something to me, but the music was to loud for me to understand what she had said. I looked around for a while. My eyes saddened. Everywhere I looked there was couples. It reminded me of my breakup. Two guys came over to our table after a while.
"You girls wanna dance?" one of them asked.
He had black hair, blue eyes, and was about 6 feet tall. He had a nice smile, and Alexis quickly moved in at the opportunity.
"Sure, I'll dance with you," She answered. The other guy extended his hand out to Belle, and she accepted it. She looked at me asking me with her eyes to follow them. I told them that I would join them later on.They both left to the dance floor. My eyes followed them wishing that was me instead. I sat at the table by myself and let my mind flow free. A waitress asked me if I needed anything so I told her no. I must have been lost in my thoughts because I didn't here when someone spoke to me.
I looked up to find this cute guy standing above me. He has blonde hair, blue eyes and was about 6 foot something. He smiled at me.
"Well can I?" he asked.
"huh?"
"Can I sit down with you?" he repeated.
"Sure go ahead."
"I'm Nick, what's your name?" he asked.
"Sophie."
"It's a nice name," he said.
"Thanks," I said smiling at him.
"So how come you're not dancing out there like the other people here," he asked.
"I'm not really in the mood for dancing, plus I was already going to leave," I explained.
"Why?" he asked.
"Sorry, that's personal," I answered. I got up from the table ready to leave. Nick stood up.
"Look, it was really nice meeting you, but I don't really feel like being here today. I'm really sorry about this, I'm not usually like this. You'll understand," I said.
"Well let me at least walk you home," he offered.
"OK." We stepped out of the club. Nick stayed away from the lights as if he didn't want to be recognized.
"Listen, you don't really have to walk me home. I'm a big girl and I can take care of myself now,"
"Well, let me at least walk you a block," he said looking straight at me. His eyes were nice and they looked very innocent. Someone could get lost in his eyes just by looking at him. I laughed.
"Well, ok come on." The streets were dark and all of the stores were closed by now. Only the lights of the poles shone on the streets. The moon was full and it hung in the black night also illuminating our way.
"So if you didn't feel like dancing what were you doing here tonight."
"I was trying to get away from my so called life. Trying to forget everything and just be free for one night."
"I know how that feels,"he said. I looked at up at him confused.
"Really?"
"Yeah..." We reached the end of the block. We stood there the street lights shining on us.
"Well..." I said.
"It was nice meeting you too,Sophie."
"You too Nick, maybe I'll see you around."
"Hopefully."
I walked another block home; alone. It was kind of cold. A car drove by me slowly and it stopped right next to me. The window of the car rolled down. Nick was in the driver's seat. He smiled at me.
"I didn't feel comfortable leaving you to walk alone so I came back to give you a ride."
I smiled, "You didn't have to."
"C'mon get in." I stepped into the passenger side the warm air conditioning hit my face.
"Where do you live?" he asked.
"A few blocks from here. You really didn't have to do this."
"I wanted to." He smiled and looked at me.
"You look a little familiar," I told him.
"Really, like who?"
"Like a celebrity, or someone." He laughed this cute little laugh.
"Turn right here," I said. He followed my instructions. The streets were empty by now, it was probably 11:00 or something.
"Ok, well here we are," I said. He parked in the parking lot. I stepped out of the car and leaned in by the window.
"Thank you for the ride, Nick, and maybe I'll see you around."
"Yeah."
He smiled once more and then turned the car on. I stepped back from the car, and watched it as it left the parking lot. I walked to my apartment and got in. The place was exactly as I had left it. I threw my things on to the floor, and walked upstairs. My bed looked comfortable, so without changing I jumped in. My eyes were tired and soon I fell asleep with a warm feeling in my heart.
