| DANIEL AT LINCOLN, 2 NOVEMBER 2001 |

My mother phoned me on 31 October to tell me two things but I can only remember one of them. She told me that Daniel was going to be out at Lincoln playing for the New Zealand Academy team and I immediately thought to myself that I was going out there. Armed with a bag that contained a walkman, a few tapes, a bottle of 7Up, a packet of potato chips, two bottels of V, a packet of chewing gum, my wallet, my camera and a spare film, I made my way to Lincoln. This is my report on that.
My day started at 6.30am when my alarm clock went off. I looked at the time and decided to stay in bed for a few minutes more beofre I got up.I showered, chucked on some clothes, grabbed my bag and was out of the flat my about 7.20am.I called into the shop to get some batteries for my walkman and had to wait for this person to finish arguing with the sales assistant over the price of a bag of lollies and a packet of Mallowpuffs. Once that was over and done with, I crossed the road to get the bus into the city centre.Having not been out to Lincoln since I've been in Christchurch, I only had a vague idea where to catch the bus. Armed with a timetable and some money for the bus, I waited the total of two minutes before the bus turned up. I got on, paid and received my ticket before gratefully sitting down.I arrived at Lincoln at about 8.20am. I walked straight ahead for a few metres before turning right and out onto the main road where I saw a sign that read N.Z Cricket High Performance Centre followed by an arrow pointing straight ahead. I said to myself "BINGO!" and followed it until I saw another sign with an arrow pointing left.
