VETTORI IN DOUBT FOR TEST SERIES

Left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori caused a scare yesterday when he left the field on a stretcher during New Zealand's three-day cricket match against the ACT President's XI in Canberra.
Bowling during the morning session on the opening day, Vettori suffered an ankle injury as he turned to try to stop a drive from batsman Matthew Phelps.
He crumpled to the ground in pain and was taken by ambulance to a Canberra hospital for x-rays. He later returned to Manuka Oval before going back to the team hotel.
Manager Jeff Crowe said an initial reading of the x-rays revealed no major break in Vettori's right ankle. The team was waiting for a radiologist to check out the injury.
Crowe said Vettori was unlikely to play again against the ACT but he was hopeful that the spinner's tour of Australia was not over.
"To be honest, no-one can make that call yet," Crowe said.
"You don't know if there is a small fracture that might take weeks and weeks of recovery time. It needs 24 hours of icing anyway to see how it comes up."
The first test begins in Brisbane on November 8 and Vettori is akey member of the Black Caps' attack.
