Web Site Review:

Bigratfan.net

Bigratfan.net is a typical fan site, a mixture of the good, bad, ugly, and just plain weird:

The Good
- Bitch-slapping of Al Gore on page 1
- Picture of Drew Barrymore takes up space that would otherwise be wasted on Ratbird crap
- No lame attempts to "stir up Browns fans" by posting things like "Art Modell is great". This is a remarkable innovation for Rat fan sites.
- Lower than usual number of "Under construction" banners.

The Bad
- Cartoon birds. Lots of cartoon birds.
- Rant gloss derivative does not properly praise his Lord High Master, Art Bietz. Resultingly, chance of terms being accepted into Rant gloss are alarmingly low.
- Offers straight-faced and sans sarcasm a picture of Unitas and Redman sitting together.
- Most of the web boards praised by the site basically suck unless you're a newbie.

The Ugly
- Use of trademarked "Feel the Power" logo is a no-no.
[since removed]. Picture of Art Modell lifting out wallet of gullible Rat fan is preferred.
- Mass linkage of boring corporate sites reveals Bigratfan to be corporate toadie.
[?]
- Annoying Java ticker under heading. Wanted to swat it away, but it kept coming back.

The Weird
- Phil Collins song lyrics. Nuff said.
- Doesn't realize that slapping the Browns by referencing the dearth of championships in recent years merely slaps at current Ratbird ownership.
- Use of the motto "Better than a halftime quickie" disrupts site credibility, as motto is easily disproved by anyone who is not a 500-pound Twinkie-obsessed agoraphobe.
- Provides some unintentional hilarity by referring to inept Ratbird fan sites as Ratfans "showing their talents".

In summary, Bigratfan.net is a charmlingly reality-challenged Ratbird site created by an obviously delusional mental case. Since the web site failed to crash my PC or corrupt the Windows registry, it stands heads and tails above most Ratbird fan sites, which are actually harmful to those who visit them.

There is little that would cause me to return to the site, as there is not even a small and typically low-volume Ratbird message board to torment. Mentioning me or the Cleveland Browns more prominently would create some level of visitor interest in the site, but the webmaster continues to prattle on about Ratbirds, a subject of little interest to most Internet sports fans.

"It Doesn't Suck"

How's that for a glowing recommendation?

I like the newspaper setup. I don't like the proliferation of cartoon birds. The Angelfire popups [gone] are annoying, but no worse than any other porn, errrrrr... SPORTS web site I've visited.

And try as I might, I did not see one pic of Drew Barrymore's rack on the entire site. Do I need a ratbird secret decoder ring or something?

I also didn't see the classic pic of Honey [David Modell] holding his head in his hands after the Buffalo game. If you need a copy, let me know.

Bietz bites

I like the newspaper setup but the Angelfire popups have GOT to go. [gone] Drew Barrymore is cool but you need to toss in some Alyssa Milano for equilibrium (the ole Betty & Veronica thing). Keep on sticking it to the Browns. Cleveland lost their team due to neglect, not some evil plot from the city of Baltimore. Tell Art Bietz to kiss my (bleep). He tries to run smack on you for stealing his gloss but HE stole it from Jim Rome. I say (bleep) Art Bietz and anybody that looks like him.

I guess it's okay for a Ratbird site, I mean it doesn't have the prestige of representing an entire nation but it's a good start.

Thank You

Thanks for the glowing article on the Ravens Nest's and the continued plugs, it's much appreciated. I see your page is definitely getting noticed throughout the internet -- Art Bietz, J.T. Facts and Ken Rosenthal, three "wonderful" people all taking time from their busy schedules to comment. Pretty impressive! It's good to see that Rosenthal and Bietz actually seem to have a sense of humor. You can bet they'll all check back often. The Browns Glossary is priceless! Too bad it can't fit on a T-shirt. Keep up the superb work!

Cartoon birds rule!

Wow,  reviews from Art B, Max, Diamond Dave, Doug The Pres. How do I follow that!

[Disclaimer: The fab message board at www.ravensnest2.com uses content from this site to make RN2 even more awe-inspiring than it initially appears.]

OK...

1. Keep up with the proliferation of purple cartoon birds.  I love purple cartoon birds and have them plastered over all my vehicles, my telephones, my computers, my place of employment, my web site and on game day, my wife's body. Brownies have 'Logo Envy' since they make do with an unofficial Cartoon Dawg and resort to wearing strange rubber masks in order to appear fierce and scary to opposing fans. Cartoon birds rule. Stick em everywhere.

2. Other than the concept, your gloss borrows little or nothing from Art's Rant version and is actually entertaining, particularly the numerous references to me.

3. Love the layout, simple enough so that your typical Steeler fan with AOL 2.0 can find his way around, while still comprehensive in coverage and information.

4. Since they are in their second year of a five year plan to 'Dominate the AFC Central', I feel it would be a great idea to display the schedule, scores and results of all Cleveland Browns games in a frame to the left of each page on your site so that the other teams can be given a chance to prepare for the onslaught in 2003.

5. I'm a little concerned with your Drew fixation.  Cameron Diaz sure, that Lopez wench that dates Puff Daddy, maybe but Drew Barrymore? Mmmm...OK, maybe more naked pictures would offset her mediocre  appearance and would obviously keep Max happy without needing the decoder ring.

Keep it up bro!

I must admit, I sneak peeks at Bigravensfan.net with the same reckless abandon that Rosie O'Donnell sneaks into her freezer for quarts of chocolate ice cream. What other site offers you a direct link to my personal bulletin board, adding to the convenience of Web users who want to strike back at their favorite vertically challenged columnist? All right, maybe I shouldn't ask that question. But Bigravensfan.net is the place to be.

LOVE this page. The newspaper format is great. Oh and I think the obsession with Drew Barrymore is very understandable, even if my wife doesn't understand mine with FAITH HILL ! And my biggest complaint--- this page is gonna make me have to work harder on my page to try and stay ahead!!!

Hey buddy...I REALLY am impressed with your board. Very comprehensive, easy to read and nice links too. I got your message today (really, flattery will get you everywhere, especially when speaking highly of babygirlraven127). Seriously, nice job. I'll be back.

Thanks for your thoughts on my page. Your page is nice also. I like the newspaper layout. Isn't it funny how fans of other teams feel is their job to be experts on how RAVENS sites should be put together? HA!

Mr. Bigravensfan,

Two things set your site apart from the other "fan" sites: Your original material and your delightful sense of humor. It is a very refreshing and comprehensive piece of work that you have put together. Self-depricating humor is a lost art and is much more appealing than the false bravado and braggadocio flavor permeating throughout most fan sites. It is clear that you are a very talented individual. I will visit your site often and tell as many people as I can about it. Great job!!!

Hey, I am a die hard Browns fan but I have to give credit where credit is due: Great Site, No fooling, No Jokes...Really enjoyed this site and am now bookmarking it!

Keep the slogan, write more articles and delete the Browns stuff. Also, what the hell is up with Drew Barrymore?

More Browns bashing dude!

Ravens are Radical

Do you have a job? Are you on disability? Welfare? You're on every conceivable bulletin board 24/7 and spend God knows how much time working on that lame web site of yours. And who knows how much time you spend searching for pictures of that drug addict bimbo Drew Barrymore. You say you have a wife and kids. How could you possibly spend any time with them?

I showed your site to my boyfriend and even though he is an avid Steelers fan {he's from Pittsburgh, he can't help it} he thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it's great, colorful, informative and funny. I would like to meet the man behind this site. Keep it up!

Don't take the Browns fans too seriously, they are still uptight, IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT!!!!!!! Every football fan should enjoy your site.
Love,  Mom .....just kidding.

Personally, I think you are a great writer but it warms the cockles of my heart to know you spent so much time coming up with the most perfect songs.  And I love our favorite song.

With all my (groovy kinda) love....

I am honored to share your name, thank you for letting me be a part of all of this.
