- CINDY WRIGHT of Westbury
High in Houston, TX--This Homecoming Queen was the first girl to score
in a Houston Independent School District football game.
- ERIN WHITE, a
6-foot-1-inch, 215-pound defensive lineman for Grimsley (North Carolina)
High in 1999
- OMARAH ORTIZ, a
6-foot-1-inch, 205-pound defensive lineman for the Hillsborough (Florida)
high School JV football team in 1996--She played in her first game in
Sept. 1996.
- PAT FEDEWA of St. Patrick
High School in Portland, MI--In 1985, she became possibly the first
girl to play high school football in the state of Michigan.
- KATHLEEN TRUMBO--In
1989, she became the first Indiana girl to play an entire season for a
high school football team.
- SHELLY GARNER of
Gainesville (GA) High--In 1985, she became the first girl to score in
a Georgia high school football game.
- SHEILA GAFFNEY of Toombs
Central High--A 5'8", 135-pound fullback, she became the first
girl to play in a Georgia high school football game on Sept. 6, 1985.
- CAROL DARRIN AND DELORES
DARRIN of Grays Harbor County, Washington--In 1973, these two sisters
tried out for and won spots on the Wishkah Valley High School football
team. After participating in several full-contact practices, the Darrins
were barred from playing in any games by the Washington Interscholastic
Activities Association.
- ELSA SANCHEZ of Corona
(California) High School--She was a defensive lineman on her school's
football team and a Homecoming Queen in 1998.
- CHARLENE VAN BRUNT of
Hopatcong High--In 1985, she became the first New Jersey girl to play
in a high school football game.
- JESSICA LEVERETT of Sparks
High School in Nevada--Back in 1986, Jessica Leverett was the first
girl to play in a high school football game in Nevada.
- DONNA WILBORN of Mount
Horeb High School--Ms. Wilborn was the first girl to play high school
football in Wisconsin, having played from 1978 through 1980.
- JUDY JACKSON of Juneau
High in Milwaukee--In 1982, the 5-foot-9-inch, 185-pound Judy Jackson
was a starting tackle for her school's football team.
- VICKI SMITH of Shorewood
(Wisconsin) High
- DIANE YELLOWWOLF of
Mandaree High School in North Dakota--This 5'8" 160-pound
defensive tackle was one of four girls playing football for Mandaree
(North Dakota) High School in 1985.
- JACQUE RUNDLE of Hillgate
High in Missoula, Montana--She played junior varsity and varsity
football at Hillgate High in 1984. IN the last game of the 1984 season,
Ms. Rundle caught a pass for a first down.
- TINA MUSCARE, who in
1976 played little league tackle football in Chicago. I wasn't able to
find any in-uniform pictures of her in the Chicago Tribune.
