Nash in 2003
Obviously this page isn't going to include any cricket results
but I thought I may as well note down any significant post-cricket
events:
June-July, 2003
Dion Nash participated in the "Celebrity Ski and
Snowboard Race", as part of the Lindauer Queenstown Winter
Festival.
June 1, 2003
Dion Nash has taken on a new role as interviewer for the
sports show Sportzah!,
which starts on TV3 soon: [More].
Also, Nash will apparently make a guest appearance on the
TV2 program "The Fish and the Fury" in the coming
weeks.
May 2, 2003
It's one year since Dion Nash announced his retirement from
all cricket. Since then, he and a business partner have started
up a company exporting ice cream and meat to Japan. Nash has
not walked away from sport entirely, however. Late last year,
Nash played an outspoken role in the dispute between New Zealand
Cricket and the Players' Association, of which he is a founding
board member. Nash also does a few hours' work a week with
the New Zealand Academy of Sport, mentoring athletes in the
ACE Advisers program. Meanwhile, Nash has assisted some of
his former team-mates in a de facto mentor capacity, advising
Andre Adams on his recovery from a back injury and providing
motivational guidance to struggling batsman Lou Vincent. Nash
has no immediate plans to seek cricket-related employment,
but has expressed interest in perhaps coaching a school team
one day.
April 6, 2003
Team "Sierra Maestra" - comprising Dion Nash,
Mike Sullivan and captain Rob Nichol finished last out of
15 in the 24-hour ARC
Adventure Race which took place on the Coromandel Peninsula
on 5-6 April 2003. The multi-sport event involved sea kayaking,
hiking and mountain biking... and no cricket.
February 1, 2003
Dion Nash and Bernice Mene were married.
