Nash in 1997
Nash was eventually diagnosed with stress fractures and a
prolapsed disc - the result of an unnatural action and poor
management of his bowling.
The injury kept Nash out of international cricket in 1997.
He did play the Shell Trophy for Northern Districts in February
1997, as an batsman only (excepting an unwise 15 overs in
his first match).
By the 1997/1998 season he was bowling again at first-class
level, and strong performances for Northern Districts prompted
his selection for the second half of the tri-series in Australia
in January 1998.
