SUBSTITUTES!!!
The best place to find old belts are thrift stores.
The can be had for $1-2$, sometimes less. Don't settle for something that is not
what you were looking for in the first place...get a strong, thick, wide, REAL leather
belt.
First, on the end that had the holes:
1. Wear safety glasses

2. See where the two holes that are closest to the
end of the belt are

3. Take a hobbie knife or sicssors and join them
together by cutting a slit from one to the other

4. Put the rope through it, looping it around from
both sides, so it will never come undone from the belt, since there is nothing to come
undone.
now, it looks like this:

5. From this point, if you are using the smaller
parachute cord, such that two of them will both fit in the strap hole of the gun, you can
just tie a double bowline and your done! (double bowline:just think of the two ropes
as one, although it may take a while to get your strap facing the right way)
If you are using the larger diameter rope where only
one end will fit through the gun's strap hole, tie a bowline right after this step, right
up next to the belt, to tie off the second rope:

6. After this, loop it through the gun's strap hole,
and tie a bowline:

bowline, please go here.
7. After you have this done, you can now work on the
end with the belt buckle. If you don't mind the belt buckle, you can leave it on, or
somehow saw it off and use the loop the buckle went through to slip the rope through.
Or you can just cut the whole end off, and make another slit like in on the other
end.
8. When you are done, you should have a
beautiful strap that feels wonderful.
