Stalin’s Abuse of the Soviet State
What were the impact of industrialization, collectivization, and the Purge of the citizens of the Soviet Union under Stalin? Did the positive aspect justify the suffering brought on by Stalin’s rev.? Why or why not?
The Russian Revolution ran out of luck in it revolution reforms. More pain was put into the revolution than any agricultural boom. The price for revolution in the command of Stalin was fatal for millions of Peasants; all of which attempt to resist the Soviet Power in their own way. The effects of industrialization, collectivization, and the purge of the citizens brought more suffering than gaining any title of a superpower therefore Stalin’s totalitarianism actions will not be justified because of the abuse and exploitation of human labor and the violent discouragement of individualism.
Stalin’s flair of techniques to reform Industry and agriculture made millions of people suffer. An estimate of deaths during the Five-Year-Plan and the agricultural revolution is nine to thirteen million. Peasant families have to leave their farm and get placed in apartment to work on cement, electricity, or railroads. These peasant workers are treated just like how the serfs were treated, less than human. In the agricultural revolution, the secret police had to estimate thousands of kulaks due to their resistance in working on collective farms. Statistics show that 90% of the peasant classes were put into collective farms to plant agricultural crops. They are also treated like animals because the Great Purge allowed the secret police to eliminate anyone including old Bolshevik leaders if they committed “Crimes against the Soviet State”. Due to Stalin’s suspicions, the execution of workers and leader alike make totalitarianism in Russia very negative.
Stalin’s ill-treatment in not allowing self – expression and exploitation of the labor force makes his actions impossible to justify. Censorship because amazingly expedient because Stalin did not want anyone to express “individual” ideas. Socialist Realism was born in Russia to use artwork of real life biases ideas to discourage men and women of the peasant to express help for them selves. These forms of discouragement made the human peasants believe they are only important by helping out the Soviet State. Women had open job opportunities but at the same time they are still required to do house work. The secret police will arrest, murder, or exile anyone who had even the slightest bit of resistance. Soviets controlled newspapers, radios, and anything that will be shown to the media. Everyone under Stalin is a target and everyone suffered with fear.
The Soviet Union would have gotten a bigger number of positive impacts if they did not accept Stalin’s behavior. Stalin’s command took the lives of millions in pursuit of dominant power and the race of national power in the world of nations. Stalin’s style of getting into this competition affected all classes. Russia was better off without Stalin and his totalitarian rule.
