Fukuoka’s Art and Entertainment

 

            Fukuoka’s art and entertainment is one of the unique types compared to the rest of Japan.  Fukuoka’s art is mainly based on history or the big changes in events of history.  Whenever anyone wants to be entertainment, they would most likely come over to Fukuoka.  Entertainment in Fukuoka is powerful, energetic, and fun to watch.  There is a numberless amount of shows and drama acts in Fukuoka so you won’t run out of  choices.

 

Space World:  Space World is and a theme park located in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka.  It takes about a one hour drive to get there by car.  Aerospace and Astronomy designed rides is the theme of the park.  The sites, rides, and attractions are all based on space and space technology.  The “Space Dome” is one of the biggest sites to see.  Tourist and other people could go in that dome and undertake a realistic adventure or tour through the universe.  There are virtual and realistic features in the dome.

 

Futsukaichi Hot Spring:  Hot springs are one of the well known places to visit for relaxation in Futsukaichi, Fukuoka.   When people want to visit the Dazaifu Tenmangu shrine, they would usually stop by at the Springs in Futsukaichi.  They springs relieves stress and loosing muscles up so you could have a great night sleep.

 

            Entertainment is not the only thing in Fukuoka, there are many types of art and crafts being created here.

 

Hakata Champon: This is a little craft that when you blow in it, it makes noise similar to “Cham-pon”.  It is more like a toy being played in a festival but it does have beauty.  There is a small number of these left and they are highly expensive now.  It looks like a glass straw with a wide opening on it.  Some are located in the Hakata Machiya Folk Museum.

 

Hakata Dolls:  These dolls have a very unique feature in them.  There sense of still movement and facial expressions give it character.  These dolls are women figures.  These dolls are so pretty that people get flattered when someone tells them they look like a Hakata Doll.  These dolls were created by Kichibei Nakanoko.  Some of these dolls are warriors or little children.  Style is a significant factor of the Hakata Dolls.

 

Takatoriyaki Ware:  Hachizan is the creator of the pottery, he came from Korea.  He traveled to Japan to spread his skills on pottery.  He established an oven shop where he taught pottery.  His crafts are used for special Tea Ceremonies in Japan because of the sole styles the pottery has.
