Passenger side bellhousing, note where metal flange
is away from the bellhousing. This is where one bolt location
is missing. The bottom of the bellhousing is where the 2.3 starter
mounts, where the metal flange is is where the Zetec starter mounts.
Dowel pin location matches.
Driver's side. 2 bolts find their way into the block
from the bellhousing, one right beneath the PVC valve and the
other at the base of the cast iron block, dowel pin again matches.
The 2.3 T5 Bell housing does clear the head, previous
concerns were that it would interfere with the thermostat housing,
but it does not. 2 holes will have to be drilled into the block
so that the 2 "mickey mouse ears" will solidly mount
to the engine. Again you can see where the Zetec starter "should"
be.
Everything appears to line up, this is just some bad
photography : )

You might be able to see in the left pic there is a little
gap down there, and it presents a little problem, but the 2.3
has a dust shield that may protect the transmission from debris,
but I am a little worried about drag and "catching"
things I don't want to, tearing the trans out... I will see how
well I can adapt the T5 later when I have another unit, this bellhousing
was loaned from my Mustang when I blew up yet another clutch,
thank god it was free.
