Battle Droids

You suddenly realize that the droids back here ain't like the ones out front. Suprisingly, you note that some of them are activated as well - trained on your every move. Daar likes to make sure his transactions are secure, you surmise.

Bracketed by a powerful repulsorlift array, the ASN-121's frontal tool chuck can be equipped with a variety of equipment depending on its mission profile. Its interface port can handle such diverse tools as a harpoon gun, a sniper blaster, a gas dispenser, spy sensors, a flamethrower and various drills and cutters. Likewise, the ASN-121 comes with a cargo hopper that allows it to carry miscellaneous items.

Battle droids are tall, gaunt humanoids with exposed joints and bone-white metal finishes that gives them an eerie resemblance to animated skeletons. Battle droid infantry is frightening in its uniformity -- only a numerical marking on the back of a comlink booster pack serves to distinguish one droid from another.

Droids with specialized functions have distinct colored markings on their armor. Blue denotes pilot droids. Red denotes security droids. Yellow denotes command droids, which function with increased autonomy compared to the standard infantry.

Battle droids are very efficient. Their humanoid builds allow them to operate machinery and pilot a wide variety of war craft designed for organic pilots. For the Trade Federation, the battle droid infantry piloted STAPs, MTTs, and AATs as well as their colossal battleships. For ease of storage and transportation, battle droids could compress into less than half their size.

The super battle droid requires no overriding command signal to operate, and thus has a limited degree of independence. Delicate componentry that was clearly visible in the standard battle droid design is now protected by a hardened armored body-case. Mounted on its right manipulator is a double-laser cannon built into the droid's design.

Super battle droids, like their inferior predecessors, have very rudimentary programming and are poor at formulating attack plans. They are, however, fearless and tireless, and will run at full speed into combat, their cannons extended, firing until they have reduced their targets to smoldering ruins.

Any professional assassin knows that stealth can be more important than a potent weapon, and this was taken in to consideration with the design of the Scarab Droid.

This little droid is tiny, and quiet, which allows the droid to find its target and eliminate it without even the victim ever stirring from an afternoon nap. Most of the galaxies household security systems aren't focused enough to detect these minuscule killers, and when they are detected they are usually mistaken as harmless garden beetles. Only in the last few decades has electronic miniaturization progressed to levels where Scarab Droids would become practical, and since covert assassins are highly illegal, the Sienar Intelligence Systems developed them in their top-secret Black Ops Laboratories.

The Scarab Droids are designed and manufactured to fit in the palm of a single hand. The simpler, Scarab Mark VI is posted as the best of the models with the best kill ratio and is the most widely produced of the models.

Each of these Mark VI's possesses a compact body with six jointed legs, and a hard head tipped with poison injectors. These fangs are connected to a small, internal reservoir that is filled with a fast-acting nerve toxin or hallucinogenic stimulant.

These droids are equipped with special sensors to help locate their pray. These high-gain photoreceptors are keyed to work efficiently under dim lighting conditions if need be. The droid is also equipped with heat detectors, pheromone sniffers, and biorhythm analyzers to ensure that the droid can make a positive ID on its target before it begins its work.

Each species has different weak points, and the droid is programmed with them (for example, a human target’s weak point is the soft neck skin just above the carotid artery). To maximize secrecy these droids work best by themselves, but a swarm of these droids do have there advantages in case anything goes wrong, because even a fully alert subject will find it very difficult to exterminate a dozen or more of the droids without suffering a fatal bite.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NEW REPUBLIC HAS BANNED ANY USE OF THESE DROIDS.
