MODIFYING THE DOOR LOCKS

After having my car broken into 3 times in the last 2 months because of the guy prying the mirror open and reaching down and pulling the door lock up, I decided to cut off the lip of the door lock to make it a little more difficult for a thief.

REMOVING THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE
1. Take the door panel off. On the back you will see how the handle is plastic welded to the door panel in six places. The red arrows show where the welds are and the green arrows show the (3) pegs that keep the handle aligned properly.

2. Use a sharp knife or razor blade to cut off the plastic welds and then use a screwdriver to pry it up.

3. If you're going to paint it, I found it easier to get the inside part if you stick a screwdriver in there like is shown in the pic below.

4. When you get ready to reinstall, clean up the holes and pegs and then use some very strong glue to hold the handle to the door panel in place of the plastic welds.
