A third theory on how the universe came into existence is the Steady State Theory. This theory was proposed in 1948 by Hermann Bondi, Thomas Gold, and Sir Fred Hoyle. These three scientists were not satisfied with the Big Bang Theory and how it stated that everything we know came from singularity. This theory states that as the universe is expanding there is a constant amount of new matter coming into the Universe. This matter is produced by a reservoir of energy. This creates a balance in the universe or a “steady-state“. This theory though having some level of popularity is now considered very unlikely to be true. With the discovery of background radiation in 1965 this theory seemed even less likely as the Steady State Theory has no explanation for this radiation.
