Chapter 20
Meanwhile the rest of the Boys were peppering Howie with questions.
"So it obviously went well last night, huh?" AJ remarked.
"You knew about this?" Nick turned and glared at him. "And you didn't tell us? Howie, how come you told AJ and not the rest of us?" He whined.
"I asked him to help me pick out a ring. Thanks to Anna he knows what Cait likes." Howie explained.
"We had no idea you were planning to ask her to marry you. You threw us for a loop." Brian spoke up.
"Yeah, I know. Actually, it was quite a recent development." Howie sipped his coffee. "And I just thought our six month anniversary would be a good time to ask."
"No kidding. Cait's absolutely glowing." Kevin chimed in, seeing the girls making their way back to the table.
AJ choked, coughing as his coke went down the wrong way. "I doubt the engagement is the only reason for that." He said, when he caught his breath, not noticing Anna and Cait coming up behind him.
"Alexander James McLean!" AJ sat up straight, hearing the warning tone in Anna's voice coming from behind him. "Now would be a good time to keep your mouth shut."
"Whoops!" He glanced at Cait, who had taken her seat next Howie and saw her looking down at the table, blushing furiously. Howie glared at him. "Sorry, Cait." AJ appologized.
"It's okay." She looked up, a small smile on her face, her cheeks still red.
"So, have you set a date yet?" Brian asked, changing the subject.
"We haven't really talked about it yet." Cait smiled, gently squeezing Howie's hand.
"Any ideas?" Kevin asked.
"Cait, since Brian brought it up, is there any particular time you want to get married?" Howie asked as they wandered hand in hand around the gift shop in the hotel.
"Hmmm." Cait wondered aloud. "The tour's done in a month, plus we need time to plan everything."
"How long do you think it'd take to plan it all?" Howie asked.
"At least three months to be on the safe side." Cait frowned slightly, thinking. Her eye lit up as she thought of something. "Howie, what do you think of July 14th? That was the day my grandparents got married. Plus it would give us 4 and a half months to plan."
"That sounds perfect." He said softly, looking at her with loving eyes. She looked up at him, smiling gently as he pulled her into his arms and caressed her lips with his in a sweet kiss.
He pulled back slightly, brushing a lock of hair out of her eyes. "I love you, Cait."
"And I love you." She whispered.
"Cait, I just thought of something." Howie said, as they sat curled up on their bed, watching TV. "Where do you want to get married? Do you want to get married at home or in Florida?"
"I think I'd like to get married in Florida." She said, turning to face him. "Most of your family's there and your family's a lot bigger than mine. It'd be easier for my family to get to Florida than for all of yours to get to B.C."
"Okay, sweetie, we'll get married in Florida." Howie smiled, pulling her to him and wrapping his arms around her.
