~Chapter Three~
Chapter Three

"I can't believe how well this tour is going," Tabitha shrieked after the show was over. Lance had to laugh at her exuberance even after a month and a half of touring.

"I have never seen anyone so excited about touring, not even us on our first tour," Lance remarked with a chuckle.

"Sorry, I just love touring the country. I never got the chance to go anywhere when I was growing up and I always wanted to travel."

"I know, I'm just teasing," Lance assured her. "But you seem to have a ton of energy all of the sudden, why is that ?"

"I don't know. I guess it's just the excitement of being on stage and seeing your fans go crazy when I dance with you."

"They seem a little jealous, don't they ?"

"Of course they do, honey. They think that they're going to marry you someday and they don't want anyone else touching their future husband."

"Future husband," Lance scoffed. "That's so weird to have a million fans that want to marry you."

"Yeah, especially when you have a girlfriend that wants to marry you too," Tabitha remarked.

"Exactly. You're not upset about the fans, are you ?"

"Of course not. I knew what I was getting into when I started dating you."

This conversation was interrupted by the arrival of Justin and JC. They were pumped up after the show and were talking about something that Joey had done during the last song.

"Hey guys, can you believe that Joey tripped over a stuffed animal and almost fell down ?" Justin said with a laugh.

"That was funny, but he could have gotten hurt," Tabitha remarked.

"Oh come on Tabbers, you know that Joey is a klutz anyway. He could trip over his own feet and fall down just as easily," Justin retorted teasingly.

"Hey, I remember a kid who tripped over his own shoelaces on the basketball court and ate some asphalt," Tabitha shot back.

"Justin did that ?" JC and Lance chorused.

"I never did that. I'm "Mr. Smooth"," Justin defended.

"Yep. "Mr. Smooth" over there did that. But in his defense, I have to say that the asphalt burns healed very nicely in a couple of weeks," Tabitha giggled. Justin picked up a pillow from the couch and smacked her in the head with it.

"Oh, so you wanna fight ?" she said as she picked up another pillow and started beating him with it.

"Cool, a pillow fight!" Chris exclaimed as he and Joey stepped onto the bus. He pulled the pillow from Tabitha's hands and hit Justin square across the face with it.

"Hey, give me that pillow back," Tabitha protested. She tried to get her pillow back from Chris, but he wouldn't let go. She pulled with all her might, but was no match for Chris. Finally, she tackled him and sat on him, holding the pillow victoriously over her head.

"Um, Lance do you wanna help me out here ? Your woman is killing me," Chris pled from the floor.

"Oh no, you got yourself into this one. You'll have to deal with her yourself."

"Oof," Chris remarked as he pushed Tabitha off of him and smacked her once more with the pillow.

"Wimp. You act like I weigh five hundred pounds or something," Tabitha remarked as she sat up. Lance helped her get up and sit on the couch.

"You call me a wimp ? OK, string bean, let's go," Chris retorted as he grabbed for the pillow once more.

"String bean ? Oh, now you're going to get it." Tabitha reached for Chris, but Lance held her back.

"OK, hon, I think you've seen enough action for one night," Lance stated as he held her in his arms tightly.

"Action, huh ? It sounds like someone is going to get some "action" tonight," Chris commented with a sly grin.

"Shut up, Chris," Lance and Tabitha said in unison.

After they arrived at the hotel, Lance and Tabitha decided that they would go clubbing with the other guys. Usually, they were too tired from the show, but since Tabitha had an abundance of energy, she decided that she wanted to go out for a change. She put on tight black pants, black sandals, and a teal halter top. She braided her shoulder-length red hair and put on some lip gloss. She danced around the hotel room, singing the songs from *NSYNC's concert that were stuck in her head.

"Woohoo, look at you go," Lance remarked as he walked in the room. He was dressed in khakis and a black short-sleeved shirt. He started dancing with her like they did in concert.

"Forget about the club, the two of you've got it going on," Justin quipped from the doorway.

"Hush, little man," Tabitha said as she stopped dancing.

"Little man ?" Justin started to object as they left the room. Tabitha and Lance ignored him and continued walking down the hall.

***four hours later***

Tabitha yawned widely and laid her head down on the table. Lance smiled at her. It looked like her energy had finally worn down. "So babe, are you ready to go back to the hotel ?"

Tabitha didn't speak, she just nodded, so Lance took her by the hand and helped her stand up. They walked over to where JC was talking to a fan. Actually he wasn't doing much talking, just listening to her ramble on and on. "JC, are you ready to go ? Tab and I are falling asleep."

"Yeah, I think I'm ready," JC practically jumped up from the table. He said a rushed good-bye to the fan and followed Lance out to the limo. "I owe you one, man. That girl was driving me nuts."

"No problem. I figured as much when I saw the expression on your face."

"So Tabs finally lost all her energy ?"

"Yeah, I think so," Lance replied as he looked down at Tabitha's sleeping form. He and JC talked quietly on the way back to the hotel so they wouldn't wake her up. Once they reached the hotel, Lance picked Tabitha up and carried her upstairs to their room. He took off her shoes and helped her put on her pajamas. After he laid her on the bed, Lance got ready for bed and climbed in beside her. Tabitha was sleeping so soundly that she didn't even move when he got in bed. Lance wrapped his arms around her and fell asleep.

*****************************************************************************

Lance woke up the next morning to find that Tabitha was still sleeping soundly. He didn't think she had even moved during the night. He chalked it up to being up late the night before and decided not to wake her just yet. He climbed out of bed and went into the bathroom to take a shower. As he finished his shower, he heard Tabitha get up and leave the room. That seemed strange to him, but he didn't think much of it. She was just returning when he walked out of the bathroom.

"Is everything OK ?" he asked with concern. She looked very pale and she was shaking.

"Yeah, my stomach just hurts a little. I went down the hall to get some ginger ale from the machine."

"Are you sure that you're OK ?"

"I'm sure. I think I'll skip breakfast though," Tabitha replied as she put some ginger ale in a glass with ice.

"Do you want me to stay here with you ?"

"No, you go eat. I'll be fine." Lance wasn't completely convinced, but he was really hungry so he decided that she would be OK for a little while.

"All right, but call me if you need me."

"I will," she responded as she sipped her drink carefully. He kissed her on the cheek and reluctantly left the room.

***at breakfast***

"Hey Lance, where's Tabbers ?" Justin asked through a mouthful of cereal.

"She's not feeling well. She said that her stomach hurts and she's really pale."

"Wow, she was feeling so good last night, what happened ?" Chris questioned.

"I don't know. She just felt sick when she woke up," Lance explained.

"Did she throw up ?" Joey broke in.

"JOEY ! Did you have to bring that up during breakfast ?" JC queried with a grimace.

"Sorry. I was just thinking, nevermind.." Joey trailed off.

"What were you thinking ?" Lance asked with a frown.

"Nothing. Forget I said anything."

"No. I want to hear what you have to say," Lance insisted.

"It's stupid. I just was thinking about Kelly and that she felt the same way when she was pregnant with Brianna, that's all," Joey replied sheepishly.

"You think Tab is pregnant ?" Lance questioned loudly.

"No. It was just an observation. I'm sure she has a flu bug or something."

Lance didn't wait for anyone else to comment. He fled from the table and ran upstairs.

"Great going, Joey," Chris commented. "I don't think that was what Lance wanted to hear."

"Sorry, but it's the truth. I mean, it was the truth about Kelly."

Tabitha looked startled when Lance entered the room, practically knocking the door down as he did so.

"Are you pregnant ?" he demanded of her.

"WHAT ? NO ! I just have a stomach virus or something. Where did you get the idea that I was pregnant ?"

"Sorry for yelling at you. It was just something Joey said about Kelly when she was pregnant. It sounded like the way you felt today."

"Just because my stomach hurts and I threw up does not mean that I'm pregnant," Tabitha defended.

"You threw up too ?"

"Lance, have you never had a stomach virus before ? You generally throw up when you have one."

"Yes, I know, but I'm a man. I can't be pregnant, but you can."

"Yeah, but one day of being sick doesn't mean that I'm pregnant. I can't believe you're freaking out like this." Tabitha sat down weakly on the bed and put her head in her hands.

"Look, Tab, I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions. I'm just worried about you, that's all."

"Don't worry. I'm fine," Tabitha assured Lance. Lance wasn't convinced, but he decided to wait and see how Tabitha felt in a couple of days.
