WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED

HOW IT HAPPENED

As our relationship grew, I wanted DJ to experience everything I had, so he understood what made me who I am today. Doing the college program at Walt Disney World was one of the best experiences in my life. And I wanted to take him there and show him everything. So in January of this year, from the 7th to the 14th, we headed down to Orlando for our vacation. We did all the wonderful things I did when I worked there.

On Wednesday night, he wanted to do something he enjoyed, which I completely understood. Here we are doing all the things I wanted to do because I used to live there. But there are no Medieval Times in Maryland, so we headed to the dinner tournament on Wednesday. We even got front row seats. He left briefly to get us drinks at the bar before the show started. What I didn't know, was that while he was gone, he was asking if it would be possibly to publically ask me to marry him at Medieval Times.

DJ wanted the white knight to come forth to our table, extend his jousting stick with my ring on the end of it, then DJ wanted to get on one knee and ask "Wilt Thou Be My Queen". And then in terms that I could understand, "Will you Marry Me". Well, unfortunately they wouldn't allow the whole idea because of safety reasons.

So instead of this whole wonderful idea he had in his head.. he quickly decided to go traditional. At the end of the show, he still got down on one knee, and still asked if wilt thou be his queen, and still said will you marry me, it just wasn't as public as he wanted it. And no white knight. But it was the most romantic thing to me in the world.

And even more romantic than the proposal, after we got into the car to leave the show, he looked at my hand and said, "I have been holding your hand all week, looking at it knowing how wonderful it would feel with this ring on it." That's when I cried.
