Coach William Wohle, a graduate of Stanford University, had a one year coaching stint at Tehachapi High School. During this World War II era of high school athletics, many schools did not have enough boys, or the traveling budget, to field teams. Formal league play and valley playoffs were suspended during the 1942-43 season. The Warriors did play an eight game schedule in 1942-43, winning 5 and losing 4. According to the Tehachapi News, an athlete himself, Wohle had a "phenominal shot put record at the collegiate level."
